For context: this story takes place 1000 years in the future, following a major nuclear war and restructuring of the entire world. the protagonist is a teenage boy who believes he is a messiah, sent to end a world war that is threatening to happen. (his portrait will be coming soon i promise!)

This is Contempt (but he also goes by like 3 other names ^^;;;), he's one of the three main villains of the story. Him and the protagonist were raised together in a lab as human experiments and see each other as brothers. The story starts with the protagonist discovering that Contempt has killed and beheaded their "mother," but he doesn't know why. Contempt is a very amoral and flirtatious character, whose main goal is revenge and power.

This is Alayna! She is from a futuristic sky city called Kennedy, where she became very proficient with technology and business. She is obsessed with a neural program that is one of the most popular past times in the world, and she's become a sort of celebrity, known worldwide for her knowledge and passion for it. Alayna can be off putting to people because she's very weird and comes across superficial, but she has a good heart and is very intelligent. Also you can't see them in this photo, but she has had a bunch of cosmetic surgeries including fake elf ears, fangs, and other things!

This is Jadoe. He was born as the prince of a country called Raynland, which used to be the most powerful in the world, but is now being annexed. He was taken as a prisoner of war for five years, during which time he became extremely close with the enemy prince and was eventually spared from being executed because of their relationship. Jadoe is kind of an asshole, but also he was tortured for five years so I don't really blame him.

Last but not least, this is Bristor. Bristor comes from a powerful family in the royal court of one of the oldest countries in the world, who specialize in torture and running the country's prisons. He decided to become a doctor and reject his family's livelihood, much to the anger of his family. He is deeply religious and obsessed with discovering the whereabouts of the messiah his religion promises. Bristor comes across stuck up and pompous because of his naivety and weird nobility etiquette, but he's actually a very kind hearted and compassionate person.

If it makes you feel better, I got better at writing! I think xd it's for other fandoms and I never post them, but the thought of you actually going back to read that story despite how broken my English was back then is both the best thing someone has ever said to me about my writings so far, but also terrifying Ghfhfh like NOOO why would you DO that to yourself it suucks the plot was all over the place and the pacing/characterisation was terrible :'D I might draw them again one day now that you mentioned them tho...just for you and the people that remember these dorks HHH 🤭

but i would recommend just paragraph breaking it more to look more digestible! bc esp when i saw the huge blocks of text without pause for the tldr it still looks very intimidating and sometimes hard to read :'D

to separate between chapters more, in case paragraph breaks make that confusing, you can very quickly make your own image line breakers, anything as simple as opening the nearest art program and drawing one blue line will do!! ^-^

Thank you so much, anon! You're right, that text block was quite large. I've gone back and separated it into more manageable paragraphs.

I really like that line break idea!! I'll try making some fun ones when I get a chance, but in the meantime, I've changed the colors of the chapter sections to help them stand out more. Gives it a little variety, y'know? Hopefully that will help!

big/Porsche/Kinn is another variant I like the dynamic off, Bodyguard, Bodyguard and Mob boss is really compelling. (Kinn being insanely overprotective when their literal Job is to take bullets for him. It’s crazy)

Kinn/Porsche is my default fav I think. They have really cute moments and a nice dynamic once they get past the conflict and miscommunication (I would rather eat rocks than watch them miscommunicate)

Platonic relationships:

CHAY AND PORSCHE. Siblings in media are so important to me, I love watching family be annoying to each other (it’s my favorite hobby)

Kim and Porsche are another favorite platonic dynamic. Feral cat + Outside cat is so special to me. They both bite in combat too!! Twinsies!!

Pete, Arm and Pol are So Important to me. They’re friends!! It’s Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest!! Even though they are all very smart, combine three smart people and they lose all function. They’re silly and I love them

so once again this is my beloved fic and this is the prompt

So in this voicemail we got the first time Dean is trying to be respectful of Jack's pronouns while he talks about their plans for college. This is definitely one of the fluffier voicemails in the fic.

Originally, I was going to have Jack use he/they pronouns (I actually still think that's more fitting, or even he/she/they, but again i digress) but as I was writing, I realized that anytime anyone (but specifically Dean this is the Dean fic) used 'he' it would still technically be right. So I actually changed it for Jack to use exclusively they/them, because I wanted Dean to struggle. I wanted him to try. I wanted him to mess up but keep going so he could keep trying to do better by Jack. (It's a headcanon-- or I guess it's just canon to Cell Service, bc I'm God here lol-- that Jack actually uses any pronouns with friends but asked Dean/Sam/Cas to use they/them bc they were worried about confusing them lol. You know how it is with parents)

Again, there was A LOT to unpack in the Dean&Jack dynamic that I just didn't have the time and energy for. Plus, this fic was about Castiel and Dean. But I still wanted to show them both trying to connect with each other.

And I think Dean is def the type to act a little more cold/uncaring to the person in question, but gush about them to someone else. It's all a front tho he not so secretly cares a whole whole lot.

I decided that Jack should be going to college because, while I still wanted them to feel naive, I wanted Jack to be a young adult (I'm not a fan of baby jack but that's a spiel for another day). And I thought college could be something 1) to have them mirror Sam and 2) to ahhhh once again make Dean spiral into abandonment issues and feeling useless.

He wants to be happy for Jack, and he is! But again someone is leaving him. And that's hard.

I picked a writing degree for Jack because I thought it would be fun to not have them be capital G God but still imply to take over the narrative in some way. They're choosing to make better stories.

And then we get some classic 'baby birds leaving the nest' worrying from Dean.

I'm going to pat myself on the back for a few of the details in this voicemail-- namely, the use of pronouns.

We see at the beginning Dean trying his level best to use they/them pronouns, getting the swing of it for a second, but as he gets more in his own head and starts worrying about Jack, falls back into the habit of 'he.' It takes a while, even the most well-meaning of people, to get used to a change like that.

And, at the very end of this segment, I thought I did something a little clever.

The pronouns get more personal as Dean keeps talking.

I think Dean as a character says the most in between his actual dialogue. What he doesn't say is almost more important than what he does. All those pauses and restarts in the voicemails are him thinking, rephrasing, not bringing himself to say what he wants, or sometimes changing his mind and speaking honestly.

and at the very end there, he's connecting Jack to Cas. He starts by saying 'You [have a good kid]', then, changes his mind. He's taking accountability for his relationship to both Jack and Cas: 'We've got a good kid.' Then, finally, a testament to his growth: 'I'm trying to be good back.'

Also I'm just a slut for Dean being a book nerd and I think he and Jack would bond over that. I wanted it to be a Vonnegut book and im going to be real I had not read Timequake before putting it in this fic so i was really hoping it was thematically relevant given what little i knew about it.
