FLAE!!!! MY BAE!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
📃 what is the plot of your hyperfixation? and is it a movie, game, show, etc? WELL OK- MacGyver super doesn’t have a plot (because it’s one of the last of the great episodics of the 20th century, RIP), but tbh it’s literally just about Some Guy getting into life endangering situations and having to do some weird science to get out of them using whatever he’s got in his pockets at the time. Around season 3 he fixes things a little less but still it’s basically the same. 📌 how did you find your hyperfixation? Lmao so I started playing Dragon Age again in february, and decided to re-watch some of SG1 because Claudia Black who plays Morrigan, My Beloved Swamp Witch, in Dragon Age also plays Vala Mal Doran in SG1. One thing led to another and my love for Jack O’Neill got rekindled in a major way, and I felt empty after season 8 not seeing him as much, so I had my dad tape a couple of episodes of MacGyver and it was so buck wild that I got sucked in and now I like it way more unironically than maybe I should.
✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it? Well I mean ok RDA is a big part of it. Like I talk a lot of game about how hot he is but like... idk I’m coming to relate to his characters on a lot of levels and find a lot of comfort in them. Like Jack O’Neill is such an incredible character- he goes from this guy who willingly takes on a suicide mission because it’s the only penance he can do for what happened to his son, and over the course of the OG Stargate film forms bonds with new people that reinvigorate his will to live to the point that he spends 8 seasons doing his best not just to fight for other’s right to live in peace (99 percent of the time- we can talk about weird inconsistent writing flukes in this show later because oh god there are so fucking many) but also wants to live himself because of this group of people he’s bonded with. Having been in that kind of a place I see a lot of myself in that. AND MAC???? Mac is just down to earth and smart and a good boy???? Like??? Despite being very token action hero he’s very much not in a lot of ways??? and to thread that fucking needle is fucking herculean??? Like I really don’t know how to describe it but somehow he’s better at being a genuinely good person than 99% of action heros and does it like it’s nothing, and that’s the energy I need in my life right now. Also lmao totally off topic but this has all inspired me professionally too. Like RDA himself seems so very down to earth and a chill guy from all I’ve read about him and can glean from bts stuff for both these shows and it gives me a little more hope that if this guy can make it as an actor/producer and still be the chill person that he is and also not get super wrapped up in all the hollywood shit like it gives me hope that I can do the same thing eventually and oh no I’m crying. Also I literally had a series idea and he’d be perfect for one of the characters and I know my silly little hairbrained idea would never pull him out of retirement but god he’s the only person I can visualize as this character and I ideate about it a lot.
🎥 do you have any favorite scenes from your hyperfixation? OH OH OH ok- so obviously the most iconic Jack O’Neill has ever been is in Window of Opportunity- and especially the “lose it” monologue which I relate to spiritually to this day (and is a perfect summary of how I’ve felt during this whole fucking pandemic)
youtube
For Mac tho??? Hard to choose. I have a few episodes though that have stood out “The Heist” is still the most wild one of them all for me and it was ironically the first episode I watched (like time will tell but the peak happened early imo at least in terms of buckwild batshit stuff), but I loved “Hellfire”, “To Be a Man”, “Eagles”, “Thief of Budapest” “Target MacGyver”, “Trumbo’s World” “Ugly Duckling”, “Slow Death” and “Hell Week” (tbh despite all the weird editing in season 1 I think it’s still my favorite overall season so far and lots of these episodes are from it)  AAAAAND THE LAST ONE I ANSWERED IN THIS POST!!!! MEDIA HYPERFIXATION ASKS
