there are so many signs - your eyes trailing up his legs when you’re cramped in a changing room with him, sat on that ridiculous little stool and watching him try on like the fifth pair of jeans. or your refusal to join him at the gym after that one time. you lost count of how many times you had to bite your lip and look away that day, cheeks flushed not from the intensity of your workout, but from the way his shorts would ride up just right, exposing more than you could handle - especially in public.

so it’s no surprise that when you get him all to yourself, walking around your shared apartment in nothing but those damn boxers stretching around soft skin and defined muscle so deliciously, you can’t resist snapping the strained material against his thigh. you try to stifle your giggles when he whirls around, eyebrows furrowed and a pout on his lips, catching your wrist before you can repeat your offence a second time.

“why are you so obsessed with doing that?”

freeing yourself from his grip, you hook your fingers into the hem, pulling him closer to place an innocent kiss on his lips.

“would you rather i show you all the other things i’m obsessed with?” again.

his eyes widen just a bit, mind going into overdrive to conjure up the memories you just tapped into. his back against plush pillows, your lips on his neck, his chest, his hipbone. the shuddering breath he takes when he thinks he knows where you’re headed, just for you to diverge and bypass the target. your fingers pressing into the flesh of one thigh, while your kisses travel further down the sensitive inside of the other. the mischievous glint in your narrowed eyes before you sink your teeth into his skin, pleasure and pain tying in a race all the way to his very nerve endings, the arch of his back, the whimper that eludes him. your tongue gently soothing the sting, a stark contrast to the menace of a smile that spans across your lips right after, revealing how badly you wanna hear him make that sound again.

he is snapped out of it with another kiss, eyes refocusing and locking with yours again.

“where did you just go?” you purr, knowingly.

ohhh I'm not sure if you'll vibe with him but I have fun with him in my main au

-very very new. 6 years in service, maybe? enough to get his feet under him but still has no idea what he's doing. puts on his funny lil bad guy persona bc he likes watching old films

-head over heels for the local silver passenger train, elton--who is also very new, maybe 4 years in service? who is so completely oblivious to this blue thing following him around with hearts floating over his head

-works for the red caboose rigging minor circuit races, but very indirectly and has never actually met the red guy. doesn't really enjoy doing it, but the under the table pay is good so he keeps at it

-tries to trip rusty Once. rusty is Not Having It and lays him flat and blueboose pulls the EYY I'M JUST A LITTLE GUY IT'S MY BIRTHDAY YOU WOULDN'T HIT A LITTLE GUY ON HIS BIRTHDAY thing and rusty is like What. and just lets go of him bc obviously this guy is harmless

-in his mind, he's some sort of threat to rusty while rusty forgets he exists. it's very funny and one sided

-good friends with several of the freight even if he tries to act like he's too cool for them. he's just not immune to being invited to movie nights even if he pretends to be

22. Most embarrassing memory as a teenager: [Aside from Mara still being one and trying not to let on to the Veilguard at ALL -] "All right, Mara, are you ready to commit to this course?" Isabela intones with all the weight of an admiral; Mara puffs up straight as a rod and nods. "No, I need to hear you say it, otherwise it doesn't count -"

"Yes admiral!" Mara chirps, which is echoed by a bark from Malcolm the mabari, breaking the solemnity as both Mara and Isabela bust into laughter.

"Good! Come on, then, before your mother catches wise," Isabela insists before leading a sprint out of the Hawke estate and leading Mara on a run down to Kirkwall's docks. Mara can barely keep up, gasping for air and losing track of Isabela more than once. At least Mara remembers where Isabela's ship is docked and manages to get there without wasting too much time.

"Double-time now, scalawag!" Isabela orders with a grin even though Mara is fit to collapse. "Up the mainmast and out onto the yard arm, give us a twirl, love."

"Aunt Izzie -"

"You wanted this training, come on! Up you go!"

A sense of approaching made Mara start; that had to be Justice warning her Mama was on the way. Oh no...

But up Mara climbs, trying to go quickly with Isabela watching and her crew cheering Mara on. Mara manages to get up onto the yardarm, but the wind and lack of any greater support than a polished tree trunk left Mara hesitating.

"Mara! What are you doing, get down here!" Kyran Hawke's voice cuts into Mara's awareness. She's sure Mama is about to give Isabela hell for this, but Mara had chosen it. She had to do this.

So Mara steps out onto the yard arm, arms extended, and musters a spin. Slowly at first, then a little quicker as Mara finds a feel for the wood under her feet -

Then slips, tumbling through the air but caught by her mother's force magic. A public scolding was not on the docket. But despite the mortification of that, Mara sees the proud flare in her mother's gaze and Isabela's grin and nod. She was going to be a duelist one day. Just like Aunt Izzie.

30. What is Rook’s class? Did they choose it? Mara is a rogue! She did indeed choose that track, mostly because Mara is far too crafty - inherited from her father, our favorite mage revolutionary Anders - to be anything less than too smart for her own good. Mara's roguish foundations, as above, are all thanks to Isabela and, of course, Varric, but backed up with weapons training from Aveline.

39. What is their room at The Lighthouse like? Mara's proper Lighthouse room would have a lot of nods to Kirkwall and Ferelden in style - although a Marcher by birth, Mara still respects being at least a little Fereldan - but the bits she ends up collecting come from mostly Tevinter and especially Nevarra. Her windows would face a far view of sky and mountains with the sea in the distance (not unlike Kirkwall's bay) and her bed would be angled so she could be looking out that way whenever she woke up.

Pretty good, but they would've been missing something. Mara left his family to be with Dory so he probably would've stayed. Dory's relationship with Bambi (i will draw her soon i promise) only ended because of her feelings for Mara so they both would've been pretty happy without each other 😳

General 7. Who takes the lead in social situations?

Dory is much more outgoing than Mara so she's the party planner and socialite whereas he is just happy to be there (sometimes)
