"Today's your birthday, right?" Maki asked. She had made an effort to remember after Kaede had gone to the effort to celebrate hers. She had arrived with a gift bag, tentatively holding it out to Kaede. Inside on the top was a simple, soft woven blanket. Underneath it was an oblong box. Inside the box was a chef's knife, engraved with a cherry blossom design.

Maki shifted in her spot, fiddling with her hair. "I wouldn't mind treating you to lunch too. . . if you want." ( screams cries etc fkdshfkadh happy birthday to the gorl!!!!! / @somemindsatwork )

"Yeah, that's right!" She answers with an eager nod of her head, touched that she remembered. Just seeing Maki today was enough to already brighten the smile on her face. Her excitement only grows when she sees Maki hold out a gift bag to her, giving a curious hum as she accepts it. "Ooohh, for me? Thank you, Maki!! I can't wait to see what's inside~!"

When she first sees the blanket, her fingers course over the texture as she takes it out. "So soft... I love it! It gets pretty chilly in my room on cold nights, so I know for sure I'll be using it to keep me warm later, hehe. Thank you!!" She takes a second to neatly fold it and set it aside on the nearby table for now, so that she can then take out the box that was underneath it. Eagerly opening it, the light in her eyes grows even brighter, along with a gasp of delighted surprise as she sees what's inside. "Oooo!! Is this...?!" Very carefully, she takes out the knife to get a full, good look at it. Words could not describe how much she loved it. The design was so beautiful... and the look of the handle was lovely, too. And even just looking it, she knew it was a very good quality knife. "This knife is so pretty! I can really have such a beautiful knife?! Thank you so much!! It's already my most favorite knife ever, hehehe! I promise to take extra great care of it!"

And just when she thought Maki couldn't make her any more happier than she already was, she offers to treat Kaede to lunch. "Aww, Maki... you spoil me so much... what I'd do to deserve you, huh?" She giggles, her own cheeks turning pink. Maki truly was so sweet... and even just being able to spend today with her, was making this day so much more special and wonderful. Before she gives her answer, she slowly places the knife back in the box. Then, walking closer to the other... she wraps her arms around waist, pulling into a tight hug. "I would love that... Anywhere you'd like to take me for lunch, I'll enjoy it! Thank you!! Especially because...." While still hugging her, she moves her face back so that she could look directly at her.... so she could give her a gaze and smile, so warm that not just anyone could get out of her. Only Maki can....

"....It's with you, Maki. Just you being here with me, celebrating today with me... that alone made today, one of the best birthdays ever! Thank you so much... I want to spend the whole day with you!"

Mostly to hide the darkening blush on her face, she goes back to resting her chin on her shoulder. She didn't want to let her go... just yet... "... If that's okay with you, of course! H-Hehe.... cause if so, then I'm stealing you away the whole day~!"
