"self-paced course with phenomenal feedback"
OISE University of Toronto TEFL review, submitted by Nandita. This is a self-paced course with phenomenal feedback on coursework assignments. The coursework is mainly creating lesson plans, which are an essential feature for planning any English class. As I progressed through the course, my lesson plans began to contain more and more complex information but I was still able to condense something…

It's a mark of how my winter is going that the best news I have received in weeks is "this week's homework is only four essays on four topics." A week of freedom from creating lesson plans. It tastes so good.

I had a dream where jimin and jk were making fun of me while practicing Korean and I'm still a lil upset about it 😔 (Hobi came in to save the day, so dw it wasn't completely a bad dream) but now I wanna know: most to least, who would be willing to help you practice Korean; who is creating an entire lesson plan complete with color-coded flashcards, and who is coming up with every excuse to get out of it 🤨 (not that I think any of them would, I'm just very bitter still 😑)
That is such a mean dream, Hobi would absolutely come and protect you! Honestly, I feel like those two would make fun of you but like in a way where you could also make fun of their English...
Most helpful:
Yoongi - is terrible at focusing on language learning himself, he is well and truly in so that you can communicate better. He probably takes whatever the Korean equivalent of a TEFL is. Enforces days where you can only speak in Korean around the house (Tuesdays and Saturdays)
Seokjin - Buys a textbook for a 1st grader and starts fully planning 30-minute daily classes. Buys a huge ass green chalkboard just for the banter. May end up including some form of teacher role play that you get to play out as a reward (College classes obvs)
Hoseok - Thrilled you're learning. Watches youtube videos and frequently sends you pronunciation videos meant for kids (he means well). Is the ultimate hype man
Taehyung - Desperately tries to help, makes little games out of vocab words. Hires a tutor and takes the classes with you like its a parent-child class.
Namjoon - He is so supportive and he loves speaking with you in Korean, but it's so much easier to just switch between broken Korean and English and sometimes his big brain hurts too much to help you learn his language when he is so used to teaching English to his bandmates.
Jungkook - He gets really into it for like a week, and buys four textbooks (Yes, they are the tinytan ones he stole from hybe...) He then tells you to stop studying so you can cuddle and both watch media in Japanese or another language neither of you is extremely fluent in.
Jimin - will watch K-dramas with you and vaguely describe what's going on to you. When feeling mean he won't put on the subtitles. Likewise, you force him to do the same in your native language
Come be thirsty in my asks! Or leave me a question, a most least, or reaction

What does it take to communicate in the academic and corporate world? Your ability to speak English well. But the general English skills are not sufficient. Your proficiency in understanding, speaking, listening, or reading English in academic or corporate settings makes you a stand apart candidate.
For this reason, the PTE (Pearson Test of English) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System) are two exams for aspirants residing in the UAE and want to attract the best opportunities. Whether you want to study or get a job in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, or leverage global opportunities, finding the right tutor can be a game-changer.
In this blog, we will help you find tutors, whether you are searching for PTE classes in Abu Dhabi or considering the best coaching centres for the IELTS exam.
Why Choosing the Right Tutor is Crucial?
Both PTE and IELTS are comprehensive tests with individual format. Both these tests structure English reading, listening, writing, listening or speaking sections. With the help of an experienced tutor in UAE, you adapt your mind and senses to actively engage in all these skills.
An expert tutor, for this purpose, helps you with the following:
Guides you through the PTE and IELTS exam pattern.
Teaches various strategies of answering questions.
Gives access to regular practice and mock tests.
Helps you to learn time management skills and be confident.
Whether you are finding PTE classes in Abu Dhabi or the IELTS coaching in Dubai, experienced tutors’ feedback lays the first foundation.
Factors You Must Consider When Searching a Tutor for PTE or IELTS
Here are a few factors that help you find the best PTE or IELTS coaching centres in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
1. Plan the Right Exam, Time, and Your Comfort
Before you start your search for a tutor, it’s important to understand what you expect from a tutor.
Which of the two PTE or IELTS exams are accepted in your organisation?
How much time will you have before admissions, employment, or immigration.
Do you prefer online or in-person tutoring sessions?
Whether you choose to sit for the PTE or IELTS exam in Dubai, knowing the duration and mode of preparation is the key.
2. Go with Recommendations
Next, learn about the local educators in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
You can consider recommendations from others who have taken the PTE or IELTS exams.
Find social media groups or local expatriate communities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai where people share their experiences.
Rely on Reddit or Quora threads specific for PTE or IELTS test preparation to find the advice.
Find near me searches and read reviews to find the best tutors available for PTE or IELTS coaching.
3. Check Tutor Credentials and Experience
When you finally find one with reputable goodwill, do not forget to ask for qualifications and experience to ace the PTE or IELTS exam in Dubai. Here are few things to look at:
How long has the tutor been preparing students for PTE or IELTS and helping them achieve high scores?
Check if the tutor has certifications like TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) or TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
Many tutors will also offer a free session which can help you learn about their teaching styles and process.
4. Ask About Their Teaching Methods
Right after learning their expertise, take a moment to understand their teaching styles. The best tutors will customise their lessons to match with your learning style and address your weaknesses. Here are some questions to consider before enrolling yourself in the PTE classes in Abu Dhabi.
Do you use practice tests to assess your progress?
Are you measuring performance after each practice session?
How will you help aspirants manage the time during the exam?
A tutor who provides structured lessons, regular feedback, and realistic practice tests will be a valuable resource in your preparation.
5. Consider Cost and Availability
Coaching fees depend on experience, qualifications, and location. In Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in-person tutoring is more expensive than online tutoring, so budgeting is essential.
In addition, consider the tutor’s availability. If you have a tight schedule, you will want to find a tutor who is flexible with their timings. Whether you are taking the PTE or IELTS exam in Dubai, a tutor with flexible timings can help you balance your lifestyle.
Final Words
We hope you find this blog useful. Finding the best tutors for PTE or IELTS in Abu Dhabi or Dubai is the first step towards success. Whether you opt to visit the centre or choose online tutoring, it’s essential to evaluate the tutor’s credentials and look for the personalised teaching to achieve the best scores.
A reliable and reputable tutor for PTE or IELTS preparation is a long-term investment. So, make sure that you don’t compromise on the quality. Begin the search for IELTS and PTE classes in Abu Dhabi or Dubai today to learn more.

TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language. It refers to the practice of teaching English to non-native speakers in countries where English is not the primary language. TEFL can also refer to the certification process that qualifies individuals to teach English abroad or in non-English-speaking regions.
Key Points About TEFL:
Purpose: The main goal of TEFL is to help learners develop their English language skills, which may include speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The learners are typically non-native English speakers who need or want to learn English for academic, professional, or personal reasons.
TEFL Certification:
A TEFL certification is often required to teach English in many foreign countries. It involves completing a course that covers teaching methods, lesson planning, classroom management, and language skills.
TEFL courses can vary in length and depth, typically ranging from 120 to 150 hours of instruction. Some programs also include practical teaching experience.
Certification can be obtained online or in person, and it’s recognized globally by employers in the education sector.
Difference from TESOL and CELTA:
TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is similar to TEFL but is often broader, covering teaching English both abroad and in English-speaking countries.
CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is another specific type of TEFL certification offered by Cambridge University, and it's often considered more prestigious or rigorous.
Job Opportunities:
With a TEFL certification, you can find job opportunities in schools, language institutes, or private tutoring across the world, especially in countries like China, South Korea, Japan, Spain, and Thailand, where there is a high demand for English teachers.
Some TEFL jobs offer benefits like housing, airfare, and competitive salaries, making it an attractive option for those who want to travel and work abroad.
TEFL Course Content:
Courses typically cover key areas such as English grammar, language acquisition theories, lesson planning, classroom management, and teaching techniques for different age groups and proficiency levels.
Many courses also provide insights into cultural sensitivity and adapting teaching methods to different cultural contexts.
Who is it For?
TEFL is ideal for native or near-native English speakers who want to teach abroad, recent graduates seeking international experience, or individuals looking to change careers.
It’s also suitable for those who wish to teach English online to non-native speakers.
TEFL certification can open doors to a rewarding teaching career worldwide, providing opportunities to explore new cultures while helping others learn a valuable global language.

Can you please tell us more about how you became an English teacher in Japan? And the whole process. Thank you 😊
Great question anon!
I actually decided I was going to aim for this job when I was about seven, my aunt and uncle used to teach in Fukuyama, and they'd send me letters every few months telling me about it, back then I was absolutely obsessed with getting letters so hot super excited for it.
The main thing that most teaching companies wanted, from what I found, was proof that you have a native level English understanding and a university degree, they entirely don't care what you study, just that you can show them you finished.
Some companies also ask for a TEFL or TESOL qualification, but they're relatively easy to do, I got mine through a six month online course run through theTEFLacademy.
After I got my assorted certificates in line, it was about the same as hunting for any other job, googling around and researching the companies and their reputations. I currently teach with a company called Amity, they're one of the bigger companies in Japan, and their foreign teacher support is really solid, they were thorough in their interviews too.
The whole interview process took about three months, I had to complete an online quiz essentially, normal job app style, then they wanted a video of me speaking and singing a nursery rhyme to judge my speaking style and/or accent. After that was a few video interviews and a short (maybe fifteen minute) model lesson based on a loose prompt to see how you are at lesson planning. The biggest issue I had with any of this phase was honestly just the scheduling, because the hiring office was in America and I was in Australia, all of my interviews happened between 3am and 7am lol.
After getting my contract offer things moved pretty fast, I applied for my working visa and got my passport, then I just had to pack everything into storage or into my suitcases and fly over. Here in Japan the company collected me from the airport, shipped my luggage ahead to my school so I could take it to my apartment, and then I did a two week training course with all the other incoming teachers. Most companies will teach you absolutely everything you need to know to do the job, we had lessons on business terminology, what their strategy for selling lessons was, they even taught us the different ways we had to talk to students, parents, coworkers, and assorted levels of superiors, and we relentlessly drilled lesson plans and activities.
After the two week bootcamp they sent us off to our schools, our managers helped us register our residency at city hall and we got a further week of shadowing a teacher at our school, meeting our students and seeing the lessons in real life.
And that was that, I've been here for just under a year and a half now and I have to say, it's the best choice I've ever made in my life. I miss my family often, but it's really fulfilling, if difficult, work. It can seem overwhelming but honestly so long as you do with a reputable, established company and keep your documents in line the process isn't that difficult, even with my ADHD and anxiety getting in the way, it was really smooth.
Sorry for the giant essay, I'd be happy to answer questions! I hope this was helpful for you!

Am super close to being done with this tefl certification. Working on the second to last assignment (still have quizzes after this but those are all multiple choice, only assignments require typing out entire paragraphs).
This assignment has 5 tasks, and task 4 and task 5 are about lesson planning. Shitty thing is, I realize a week into working on it that the wording of the tasks is slightly off. EITHER they gave half the instructions for task 4, then all of task 5, then the chart I need for task 4 OR they are both about the same lesson plan and task 4 is about the pre plan stage of identifying problems and solutions while task 5 is about writing out the whole plan.
And based on the word count differences, yeah they might both be about the same lesson... except that task 4 mentions "past continuous interrupted" and task 5 mentions "past continuous" tense.
So maybe they are about different lessons? Except no, task 4 is 200 word count and task 5 is 600 word count. So it seems they are likely related because they can't both be a full lesson plan.
This is why it takes me so long to finish these assignments. The course writers may have the skill set to teach english and to teach others how to teach english but they have used the same site for almost a decade and it is obvious they don't have the skill set to keep every page updated in reference to one another so sometimes things get confusing where they have edited an assignment to remove reference to lessons that no longer exist.
