Roberto Gallardo, Associate Extension Professor of the Mississippi State University Extension, giving his Tedtalk on digital possibilities in rural communities.
I was really lucky to travel around with him and learn about his ideas concerning the digital future of rural communities!

You’ve seen the talks – Sir Ken Robinson on education and creativity, Amy Cuddy on the power of body language, Daniel Pink on the science of motivation. These and other videos from TED’s library of more than 1,700 talks have been viewed over one billion times. The ideas are compelling and the speakers captivating.
Under the TEDx banner, TED’s “ideas worth spreading” have become a global phenomenon. Independently organized TEDx events have been held in more than 130 countries and 49 U.S. states.
On November 6, 2014, Mississippi will become the 50th state to have a TEDx Conference. While we may be the last state, we want our conference to be one of the best, a day filled with remarkable ideas, creativity and interaction.
The theme of TEDxJackson is “fertile ground,” a reflection of our state’s agricultural past and our history as the birthplace of American music and a center of literary achievement. But, more than that, we believe that these words represent our future – the opportunity we have to build up our city and our state through innovative ideas, especially those relating to education, health and the creative economy.
We may be the last state to have a TEDx conference, but we believe the ideas and the conversations sparked by TEDxJackson will become a catalyst for a positive transformation. Ideas can do that. It may not happen overnight. But if we keep the conversations going and transform our ideas into action, it will happen.
