Not Enough, Never Enough

I'm sorry Taki. I'll never forget you.

Takimi hastily made her way down the hall of the residential wing of the cathedral to the room her closest childhood friend called his. The note she found slid under her door was clutched in hand, crumpled in her fist so tight her knuckles discolored. Other members found their greetings and questions ignored as she hurried past them with her unobscured eyes glued straight ahead until she reached her destination.

She threw open the door to Raggdy's respite block and took note of the disarray within. His dresser drawers were sitting open with clothing haphazardly sticking out from his rushed packing. She checked his closet next. Several hangers rested empty on the clothes rack, and his bags were gone. On his desk was the marker used to pen the hastily written apology currently gripped in her hand.

He's gone.

Takimi could feel her heart simultaneously shattering and sinking as cool diluted purple tears flowed from her eyes down her cheeks.

I'm sorry Taki. I'll never forget you.

She broke into a sprint down the winding halls and corridors of the cathedral until she reached the clurch leader's door, Father Bierce's respite block. A couple of the cardinals attempted to intercept her, but their blood turned to ice and their hearts threatened to stop when they looked into her perpetual chucklevoodoo eyes. They only hesitated for a few moments, but it was enough for Takimi to force her way past them and barge into the most private area of the church.

"Father! Father, why has Rag left us!? Tell me he'll return!" Takimi desperately pleaded as she ran into his quarters. He stood hunched over his desk not facing her or turning to acknowledge her outburst. The cardinals rushed in, their eyes on the floor as they grabbed her.

"Apologies for allowing such intrusion, Father Bierce. Allow us to remove her," one of them said as they began to drag her out. Although he did not turn to face them, he raised a hand in acknowledgement.

"Let her say her piece. She is a guest within my chamber. Leave us," he insisted. The cardinals simply nodded and released Takimi before exiting the room. She wiped the tears from her eyes and quickly strode up to him and placed the letter in front of him on his desk.

Father Bierce gingerly grabbed and unwrinkled the letter. After reading its short contents, he sighed and replaced the letter on the desk. Rather than answer her right away, reached out and placed a firm hand on her shoulder.

"I am sorry, young Takimi. Raggdy has forsaken us and left the messiahs behind," he told her solemnly and looked her in her tear-filled eyes. She wiped her eyes once more and sniffled pitifully.

"I don't understand. He owes his very life to the messiahs, to you for performing their miracle. He... We were supposed to be together for all time. Why did he leave me, too?" she whimpered through her tears and hitched breaths. She allowed herself to weep and buried her face in her hands as the father retracted his hand.

"My deepest sympathy. I know he was precious to you. Go, pray to the messiahs for your heartbreak. May they ease your emotional suffering," he suggested and took a seat. Takimi nodded silently and exited his chamber. Rather than make her way to the sanctuary, she returned to Rag's abandoned respite block and stood in the doorway.

I'm sorry Taki. I'll never forget you.

She took a step inside, then dropped to her knees and sobbed. The questions angrily flooded her mind, her heartache born from devastation and betrayal.

Why did he leave her behind? Why did everyone she loved leave her behind? Her childhood friends before joining the clurch, her lusus, Maeron, and now the one person she thought would stay no matter what

Her fellow members gathered around to console her as she wept and sobbed and came undone at the seams. One of them was instructed to see if contacting her moirail was possible and scurried away to the broken woman's respite block to search for her palmhusk.

Why does nobody important to her stay?

Why isn't she ever enough?

Design - 8/10; just a pomeranian. I like those though. While there's nothing quite special about him, I still like his design and little chest fluff :)

Literally the goodest boy. He stuck around no matter what, and loves his owner! He even did [redacted] to make sure that Sissel saved everyone! :)
