Me gusto aprender del mundo E-commerces en System Action de la mano de MariBel, compañera y profesional. No lo conocía y disfrute mucho, aprendí aunque era como lo mío pero visto desde un objetivo, la cámara de fotos trasmites todo en una web, redes aun ritmo más loco. Third Blog Post

So, the Barcelona Trip is actually over. I am so sad but luckily I’m sitting on a plane right now on my way to Hawaii! One word to describe the trip would be amazing. I had so much fun with everyone on this trip and now have memories for life.

Let me begin talking about our business visit with the Consulate first. I was a little bummed we weren’t able to get a tour around the place but the man who spoke to us was very interesting. He explained what the consulate does and how they handle situations. He also explained how for his position he has to move around about every two years which is I think pretty amazing to be traveling around the world.

Our next visit was to the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the campus at first didn’t look like much but when we went inside it was so gorgeous especially with all the glass they installed in the main area of the university. We went on a guided tour around the campus and the library was pretty amazing and the whole structure of it. She explained how the university used to be barracks and I love how they kept most of the buildings original structure because it contains so much history in its walls. We also had the guest lecture where we learned about Barcelona’s trade and how well off they are when it comes to it. Barcelona’s business strengths exceeded my expectations especially when it came to exports. Their three biggest exports are auto parts, wine and olive oil.

The next day consisted of our meeting to Systemaction, SEAT, and the Alumni dinner. The first visit to Systemaction was so interesting. We learned about their business planning and we’re even able to see their new collections which were so pretty. Also, it was so nice and an honor being their first ever business visit group. We got a tour of the factory and their designing room. They are so precise and extract with the way they want their brand to look and even said that they change every display window about every 15 days!

We then went on to visit the factories that Seat used to produce their cars. This was such a cool experience and the AI’s they used were so high tech. I have never seen anything like that. There were barely any parts of the assembly line that actually requires people to be hands on. We were given such an amazing opportunity in being able to see a car be manufactured by that. I really wanted to take pictures and videos but we weren’t allowed to.

Later in the night, we had an alumni dinner planned out at the cocovail beer hall. It’s made to feel like you are in the United States and for the night it felt like that. Getting to mingle with and here from the alumns and owner of the bar were so interesting. I was especially entrigued by the owner discussing how the bar business works and how well the beer industry is doing there. Also it was discussed that a global internship program may be coming soon and I am definitely 100% interested. The place was so fun that we ended up staying there for the whole night!

And now for the last day! We began the day at Siemens which was so interesting and they even gave us a demonstration of some technology they have. I was very interested in the video they showed us of the holographic virtual reality headset that they used and wished we could have been able to see this in person. But, overall this trip was so cool to see where technology is taking us and how just like SEAT, they embrace the use of more advanced AI’s. The next visit was to IBM which was the company I was assigned to do my research project on before the trip. We learned all about how IBM’s new Watson program worked and were even given serval demonstrations of all it was capable of. It’s scary to see how advanced technology is getting and how smart it is getting. It blows my mind!

We ended the night with our cooking class which was maybe one of the best parts of the trip. In the class, we were making paella along with other side dishes. This class was able to bring us closer together and I had so much fun doing it. I was responsible with making and preping the onions and potatoes and for part of the sauce. It was so satisfying to see all of our hard work pay off and to be able to eat such amazing food! Eating food food and sitting with good company truly made me realize how much I have fallen in love with Barcelona and now am considering it as a spot for study abroad!

I can’t say how beyond thankful I am for this amazing trip and opportunity that provided the best memories and experiences. I learned so much about how Spain’s businesses have become so successful and all about Catalonia’s independence movement. It’s sad to not be in Barcelona anymore, but I will have walked out of this trip with the best memories of it and with lifetime friends so that is priceless.
