this morning the app my mom uses to control her insulin pump automatically downloaded a severely faulty update that removed the feature to control insulin administration, and she had to resort to using the manual syringes she thankfully has lying around in case of emergency. me and her had to drop everything to spend 1.5 hrs and 4 calls to the manufacturer's helpline to get her insulin pump to finally work again
apparently all android users are going through this, and the issue can't be resolved until this weekend because google has some bullshit rule saying they wont release a new (fixed) version of an app within 48 hours of a request. even though the manufacturer has a patch ready
and imma be honest i feel like maybe people's actually-very-necessary-to-continue-being-alive insulin pumps should not rely on an app, and definitely not on the fucking google play store. is that crazy of me

Ok this is just a quick what-if oc scenario sjshjdjsjsjs, no lewd 😔
It was already eight in the evening. Blade rolled into Maru's workshop, eyes red from exhaustion. The CalFire's higher-ups radioed him all day, giving him long questions and demanding detailed answers.
Their minds were set on offlining Valkyrie's core, sending her body back to the manufacturer, and putting a new core once her body has been restored. It would be a cheaper and easier alternative than recovering a dying Built helicopter, and they preferred that option. The money belongs to the taxpayers and we can't waste it, they said.
As if Blade would let them. A new core means Valkyrie's existence would be erased. The body would be the same, but the soul would be different. He promised to not give up on her, and he intended to keep it that way. He assured them that the PPAA would be using their own personal resources and funds for her recovery, and none of the team's operational budget would be used on her.
"You might not be aware of this, Chief Ranger. But Valkyrie is CalFire's Firehawk, and—"
"And you put her into my team, under my care. She is my subordinate." Blade said with a stern voice.
Sighing, Blade stared at the unconscious Firehawk. Cables and syringe pumps could be seen surrounding her as Maru kept tinkering with her damaged side.
"You look like shit," the tug chuckled as he reversed to connect another cable into Valkyrie's fuselage.
Blade rolled his eyes. "You should get yourself a mirror."
Maru muttered a "heh" as he refilled one of the pumps. "Good job dealing with the big shots, by the way."
Smiling wryly, Blade rolled closer to the Firehawk's comatosed body. Maru had already fixed her left windshield, her broken rotor blades taken off, her left side patched up and covered with primer. The only things he still needed to work on were her engines and her core.
"We can't actually fix up a core, so it'll be up to her whether she'd wake up or not."
The tug's words were met with silence as Blade continued staring at the Firehawk. Sighing, Maru patted Blade's nosecone. "Get some rest," he said before driving out of the workshop, "you can park on her left side if you want."
Blade smiled gratefully and nodded slightly. He folded his rotor blades as he rolled next to Valkyrie, nuzzling her side carefully as he silently pleaded her to wake up.
When Maru returned, he was met with the sight of two helicopters leaning against each other. It seemed like they were sleeping peacefully if you could ignore Valkyrie's broken and patched up parts.
Smiling slightly, the tug continued his work, trying to be as silent as he could.

The Rising Usage of Medical Plastics in the Healthcare Industry
Tumblr media
Plastics have Revolutionized Medical Device Development Over the past few decades, plastics have become the preferred material for medical device manufacturers due to their lightweight, durable and economically viable characteristics. Plastics allow for more complex designs that improve functionality while lowering costs. They enable single-use disposable designs that prevent cross-contamination between patients. Modern medical care would simply not be possible without the wide array of plastic-derived devices used every day. Plastic Components Enhance Device Precision Whether molded, machined or 3D printed, plastics enable very tight tolerances and complex geometries in medical components. This precision has improved diagnostic accuracy by allowing devices like MRI machines and CT scanners to capture High-resolution images of the human body. Plastic components with micro or even nano-scale features are also utilized in instrumentation like surgical robots, assisting physicians with minimally invasive procedures. Their ability to be formed with embedded circuitry or fluidic pathways further expands functionality. This precision derived from plastics leads to improved clinical outcomes. Single-Use Plastics Minimize Transmission of Infectious Diseases The shift towards single-use plastic products has significantly curbed hospital-acquired infections by removing the need for reprocessing medical devices between patients. Areas like IV therapy, drug delivery, specimen collection and dental/surgical tools now widely employ single-use plastic designs. Disposable plastics prevent cross-contamination compared to reusable metal and glass predecessors that had to be cleaned and sterilized. Their use reduces the bioburden introduced from improper cleaning and sterilization of multi-use equipment. Single-use plastics thus enhance patient safety, comfort and efficiency in healthcare settings. Biocompatible Plastics Enable Implantable Devices and Tissue Engineering Advanced biomaterials like implant-grade plastics, biopolymers and resorbable plastics currently enable reconstructive and regenerative medical interventions. From basic supplies like sutures, staples and bone plates to highly engineered implants, biocompatible plastics repair and replace tissue. They provide structural support for regenerating bone and cartilage. Degradable polymers released by implanted scaffolds and matrices further assist cellular growth for tissue engineering applications. The biostability and tunable biodegradability of plastic biomaterials continuously expand their usage. Plastics Enable Convenient Drug Delivery Methods Multiple drug delivery methods depend on Medical Plastics components for efficacy, patient safety and convenience. Whether prefilled plastic syringes for injections, plastic vials or IV bags for fluid medications, plastic-based drug delivery dramatically improved patient outcomes. Plastic tubing in diagnostic/therapeutic tools like endoscopes allows visualizing and treating previously inaccessible areas of the body.
