@fantasyinvader I found this line in Nopes about Miklan in the explore section, I'll continue browsing the datamine website to see the crest system mention but-

The part I've overlined means that Sylvain doesn't know Gilbert/Gustave is crestless in the Kingdom ? Or ignores Ingrid's bros or considers they can't rise up in the world ?

Hell, are we supposed he doesn't believe that crestless Ashe can become a splendid knight too ? (on top of being a former criminal too, but not the kind of criminal who pillaged/killed/"seduced" around ?) What about Dedue ?

Tbh, this line here sounds like Lorenz's writing in VW, perfectly nonsensical given the character involved and their background, but said character had to take an idiot plot ball for the team : in this instance, the idea that crests are so important that lacking one means being unable to have a fruitful/satisfying life.
