Long Distance Relationship
word count: 744 || avg. reading time: 3 mins.
pairing: post-time skip husband!Ushijima x chubby!Reader
genre: fluff with some suggestiveness
warnings: spoilers, mdni
request: fluffy-spicy long distance relationship with husband Ushijima
Toshi was the last person to stand in the way of your dreams and if that meant he was going to become the far away trophy husband to a gorgeous media relations executive, he wouldn’t complain. About two months ago - 44 days, but the loneliness made him round up - you had taken the opportunity of a temporary management position in Sydney. Your husband was confident that he could handle your absence for a while, but when he stepped into the apartment the day you had left and his usual call of “I’m home, darling” only echoed through the dark empty hallway, he suddenly wasn’t so sure anymore.
The bouquet of your favorite flowers he had picked up automatically on his way home seemed to mock him now and so he simply handed it to the elderly couple next-door.
Upon hearing that the tall stoic man was going to be a grass widower for the time being they had promptly invited him over for dinner and you were happy to know that your husband, who was just about skilled enough to make ramen and pancakes, was taken care of. During your nightly calls, he would lean on the kitchen counter, hair still damp from the shower and absently nibble on whatever the kind neighbors had made for him. At least the time difference was no issue, he thought as he did the dishes - all alone, without you distracting him by hugging him from behind or playfully swatting at his butt with the dish towel.
It was the distance that drove him crazy. Not being able to play with your hair before falling asleep or pulling you on top of him on the couch as he watched a movie, letting his large warm hands roam over your indescribably soft skin, his fingers tracing the stretchmarks on your pudgy waist for comfort.
He had tried to distract himself by going out for drinks with his friends, but all he could think about was your mischievous little wink when your foot would “accidentally” brush his leg under the table.
Hoshiumi and Kageyama had looked alarmed when their usually blank-faced friend seemed close to tears after two glasses of wine.
He was at an open training with the national team about a week after your leave when it occurred to him that he wouldn‘t get to have sex with you for three months. Lucky for you, his fans kept you well-fed with thousands of snapshots of your sweat dripping husband from various angles, nourishing every thirsty thought you had about him ever since you boarded the plane. He returned to his phone during his breaks to find pictures, videos or voice messages of you touching yourself to the thought of him and Toshi would have to excuse himself to the locker rooms for three to five minutes before resuming his drills.
Whenever he was on the court, he now happily accepted the fine he had to pay for wearing his wedding ring on a chain around his neck. Post-game interviews were spent bringing you up unprompted, before the camera panned down to Hoshiumi who pushed him out of the way for a proper take on the match.
He only snapped out of his miserable wifeless stupor when Hinata excitedly announced one day that if they won this game they’d head out to play Australia next.
“Toss me all the balls.”, he said to Kageyama before they took their positions on the field. Hoshiumi huffed and protested - even louder when after momentary pondering the setter agreed.
The other team never had a chance.
All the way over in your Sydney office the staff crammed into the conference room. Having bragged practically nonstop about your husband since your arrival, your coworkers crowded around you, watching with bated breath how Ushijima Wakatoshi demolished the opposing defenses, breaking through with every spike like he was possessed. And after what was probably the shortest game you had ever seen, Japan’s fans (and the office) erupted into cheers.
Toshi ignored the reporters who all wanted a piece of the MVP and headed straight from the locker rooms to the airport, booking a last minute ticket from the back of the taxi. He’d buy clothes and toiletries once he got there. It was about 6:30 am when your doorbell rang. Holding up a bouquet of your favorite flowers you were met with your slightly out of breath husband.
“Toshi!”, you called, surprised.
“I’m home, darling.”
a/n: you definitely called in sick that day. And then next day showed him off to eeeeeveryone in the office. Thank you so much for requesting Ushijima! I always love writing for him. I hope you enjoyed it! 🌟

Can you imagine reader doing the “do you know a mike wazowski, he said he knows you and his best friend sully from school?” Trend from TikTok On carmen, Richie, fak and uncle jimmy. And they are all stood around thinking where they would know this person from and discussing it for like an hour and then they bring Tina into it 🤣, and then they get annoyed that the person would even think about approaching you and asking you any thing like that 😂🤣.
Also literally obsessed with your writings 💕❤️
committed to the bit, truly, you get sydney to call the phone and you answer it. pretend to have a whole conversation, then come out.
"that was weird."
carmen's head snaps towards you. "what? what was weird?"
"the guy on the phone." you try to keep your face still, knowing your phone is propped in the window. "he called and said he wanted a reservation, i told him we were pretty booked and he could check online, and he said he knew you guys. that he was family."
"family?" carmen's brows crease.
"who's family?" richie comes in, buttoning his suit.
"the guy on the phone."
"what's his name?"
"wazowski?" you furrow your brows. "i think i'm saying it right. wazowski? mike?"
"mike wazowski?" richie repeated, you nodded. he and carmen look at each other.
"i dunno him-"
"-no, is he- fuck." richie pinches the bridge of his nose. "is cicero still here?"
"oh, please, don't tell me there's more." jimmy snides. "thought you two had it under control."
"no, not that." richie rolls his eyes. "who was, uh, neil's cousin? the one that's been married like twelve times?"
"paul?"
"yeah, what's his last name? wazowski?" richie waves his hand.
"wazowski? no." jimmy frowns shaking his head. "wazowski? no, that's uh... who is that?"
"he said he was coming with sullivan." you take a stilling breath to contain your giggles. you know you can't look at sydney or you both will break in laughter. "sully?"
"sully?" richie, jimmy, and carmen question.
"i dunno who any of those people are." carmen huffs.
"yeah you do. is it- is it pete's family?" richie frowns.
"yeah, i think it is. seems like pete's family." jimmy grumbles.
"doesn't he have that weird uncle-"
"-oh shit, yes. at the wedding. god, that guy wouldn't shut up." jimmy groans. "i thought pete was bad."
"don't call him back." carmen looks at you. "if he calls again, just get richie."
"me?" richie scoffs. "why do i have to talk to that guy? i don't wanna talk to that guy. make sugar do it. it's her family."
"yeah but it's your job, jagoff."
they don't realize later, until the video is posted, that it was in fact, a joke.

Hi Sydney, how are you? How are you currently in your marriage with Charlie? Of course adding Lou to the equation? How do you pass the time?
" We recently celebrated Pearl Wedding Anniversary, with a little party with friends and family. It was really nice!
We had our ups and downs... well, a pretty bad down I'd say, that almost ended it all (and me as well but, that's another story).
But somehow we managed to get back from it and we're even more in love than before, if possible!
I really love her a lot. She's my life and my light in the dark, and now she's Lou's, too, once more!
I'm not jealous, honestly. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I trust both of them and know they would never hurt me, especially now that we all have our memories back and can understand feelings better and talk about them like adults.
I trust Lou. He never gave me any reason not to, and I know he wants to protect Charlie as much as I do—except he can do it better because of his powers, eh eh!
We had to buy a bigger bed so we could all fit in, and I still wonder how Charlie can get out of it without waking up me or Lou, since she sleeps in the middle. She has magic! "
" I used to read a lot years ago or play some video games to get inspiration. Sometimes watch movies, too.
Now I completely lost all attention to do any of that stuff. I can't sit still and read a book, because I forget the sentence I just read, and I lose interest. I can't sit still and watch a new movie because I start doing something else and lose the plot. I can only sit still in a cinema but I have to concentrate hard to actually follow a movie, so I don't do it often. I can't even play a videogame because these new 3D graphics give me motion sickness.
All I can do is draw. I do that a lot while following TV shows or videos I already watched or things that are just good as background noise to keep me company. Even if... drawing is becoming hard as well. I get easily distracted, I start too many projects and never finish any of them. I lose interest quickly and abandon things.
But at least I draw.
Maybe one day I'll start reading too... hopefully, before my eyes get even worse at seeing, ahah... "

Are they a soft launch or hard launch couple?
great question! @dani746 and i have talked about this at length. so i'll summarize!
mama's instagram is private so she posts pretty much whatever she wants, and mat as we all know NEVER posts. but there's speculation around who mama is to mat and if she's more than just his nanny for this baby who seemingly appeared out of nowhere. the fan theories are wild. so while mat and mama don't soft launch their relationship, other wags, like sydney, do on accident. it'll be like a video that sydney is filming and it just so happens to get a glimpse of mama and ella in the tunnel waiting for mat. or it's liana's instagram story that catches mat calling someone "babe" in the background.
so it's a soft launch in that aspect.
the speculation goes on for months before either one of them confirm anything.
(and in this universe, they're winning the stanley cup bc i'm delulu and god of the tatgylb universe, okay?)
mat hard launches their relationship by posting a picture of him and mama with ella sitting in the cup with some sappy (yet straight to the point) caption. mama posts the same picture on her insta with the caption "trophy girlfriend."
she'll post more frequently than he will, but that's not saying much. mat doesn't post for another year or two. and when he does, it's a picture of him and mama at their wedding.

The crown princess is now the first Australian-born Denmark Queen consort, from the Commonwealth with Scottish roots 🏴
Australia’s Mary Donaldson went from commoner to Danish Queen 🇩🇰
An unconventional journey from Australia’s middle class to European royalty began in an unremarkable bar in Sydney in 2000. Twenty-three years later, in what has been called a “real-life fairytale”, Mary Donaldson, becomes the queen of Denmark 🇩🇰 Queen Mary, not only of Denmark, but of the Inuit in Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
Mary Donaldson was born in Tasmania an island state of Australia in a Hobart’s Hospital in 1972 to Scottish parents. John Dalgleish Donaldson, and Henrietta Donaldson (Henrietta Clark Horne). The daughter of a mathematics professor and an executive assistant who had emigrated to Australia from Scotland 🏴
Her father was born in the town of Cockenzie and Port Seton - (Scots: Cockennie [koˈkɪni]; Scottish Gaelic: Cùil Choinnich, meaning "cove of Kenneth") is a unified town in East Lothian, Scotland. It is on the coast of the Firth of Forth, four miles east of Musselburgh, and her mother was born in Edinburgh.
Mary grew up in a middle-class suburban home alongside her siblings, Jane, Patricia and John. After her graduating with a degree in law and commerce from the University of Tasmania, She moved to Melbourne and Sydney, Mary had a high-flying career in advertising and then worked in luxury real estate. She worked during three months in Edinburgh as an account manager at an advertising agency.
But it was a chance encounter in a busy pub that would ultimately turn her life upside down. The Crown Prince sat alongside his cousin, Prince Nikolaos of Greece, his brother, Prince Prince Joachim, and Princess Martha of Norway at the “Slip Inn” in Sussex Street in Sidney as Australia celebrated Ian Thorpe's first Olympic gold.
Princess Mary and her father John Dalgleish Donaldson at her wedding in Copenhagen Cathedral on 14th May 2004.
The wedding of Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, and Mary Donaldson took place on 14 May 2004 in the Copenhagen Cathedral. Mary’s mother Henrietta ‘Etta’ Donaldson died from a heart condition two years before Mary married into royalty.
The Danish Folketing (parliament) passed a special law (Mary's Law) giving Donaldson Danish citizenship upon her marriage, a standard procedure for new foreign members of the royal family. She was previously a dual citizen of Australia and the United Kingdom. Ahead of the wedding, Mary had to give up her Australian citizenship and join Denmark's Lutheran Evangelical Church.
The new Danish queen consort is of Scottish descent. Scotland's and Scandinavia's histories have long been intertwined with smatterings of Old Norse in the language, Viking and Norse settlement in Scotland 🏴
Her father, John Dalgliesh Donaldson, stressed her Scottish roots in his speech at her wedding — and claimed his own clan had once helped eject the Norse from the Hebrides.
Check out the video below and listen her father's speech: “In the 12th century, after much savage fighting, the marauding Vikings were driven out of Scotland by a band of men led by the grandfather of the first Donald, the founder of the clan MacDonald. And for those of you who are not aware, I’m wearing tonight, the dress MacDonald tartan, which is the ancient MacDonald”.
“Donald’s great-grandfather would have wondered why he went to such trouble when, some eight centuries later, we take account of today’s union between the Viking Frederick and Mary of the MacDonald clan.”
Loving words from Mary's father.
youtube
Margrethe II reigned as Queen of Denmark from 1972 until her abdication in 2024. Having reigned for 52 years, she is the longest-serving female monarch in Danish history.
The Queen of Denmark made the announcement in her New Year's Eve speech. She formally hand over the throne in a Council of State today 14th January, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., when she signed the Declaration of Abdication. From that moment on, her son became King Frederick X.
The Crown Princess Mary was crowned Queen consort alongside her husband, the new King Frederik of Denmark. It was a historic moment, for which she wore a historic outfit by the Danish designer Soeren Le Schmidt.

15 January 2024 - I woke up to a text from my cousin Josh, who asked if everyone in my family could hop on a video call to celebrate my cousin Kayla's and her husband's fifth wedding anniversary ... in 15 minutes! I jumped out of bed, threw on a button-down shirt, and was ready just in time for this video call. Kayla and Prateek had done a photoshoot at the venue where they were supposed to have had their wedding in 2020. Kayla was in her wedding dress, and Prateek was in a tux with a bowtie. They both looked so lovely! It was such a lovely call!
Marie drove me and Daniel to the Tetkas' house in Manly because they needed help moving their couch. Yes, the same couch as before. moving-the-couch-part-2. It took Daniel and me two minutes to move the couch out to the street, and an additional 6 minutes to move the rest of the big, heavy things to the curb. After an exhausting 8 minutes of brutally hard labor, the Tetkas rewarded our heroism with ginger beer and cheese pastries. Daniel had explicitly told the Tetkas not to cook us lunch, so they went ahead and cooked us snacks instead 😂.
We headed back to Dee Why, and I caught a bus into Sydney to meet Paul and Kiara. The three of us had dinner together in Sydney, and it was SO MUCH FUN! Paul treated us to dinner at a pub, and we all three got an Aussi pub classic, chicken parmi.
I'm feeling very buzzed. I had four drinks with Paul and Kiara. I had a GREAT time with them! They were so easy to talk to and get along with. They're both very smart, and clearly educated about world events. We talked about Kiara's teaching at schools since COVID, American politics, Australian politics, COVID lockdowns, engineering jobs, camping, cultural differences, traveling. Kiara is very fun, intelligent, and interesting. It was fun to learn more about her and get to know her better. Paul is very funny and so intelligent and aware of current goings on; it was really fun to get to catch up with him. Kiara said that she didn't feel tired or worn out, and that my company was easy to get along with. They were both so warm and welcoming and fun!
Drinking is fun. Drinking lowers my anxiety and makes me easier going and fun. I like being easy going and fun.
Maybe life is about, "dinner's on me." You are the host. And you get to pick and choose who you keep.
We closed down the pub at 10 pm. We walked back to Wynyard together where we said our goodbyes and well wishes. Paul and Kiara hopped on a train back to their house, and I hopped on the bus back to Dee Why.
I got back home at 11 pm, and Daniel was still awake. We decided to watch one episode of the Star Wars TV series, Andor - the episode where they escape from jail. It was nice to hang out with Daniel, even though it was just watching tv together. Daniel really enjoyed it, I could tell.
I'm grateful to Josh, for organizing this family video call. I'm grateful for my family and for the opportunity to video call with everyone. I'm grateful for the opportunity to help out the Tetkas. And I'm grateful for the Tetkas' love. I'm grateful to Paul and Kiara for meeting up with me in Sydney and the wonderful company. It was quite an experience just hanging out and talking and drinking and eating at a pub in Sydney.

Metalocalypse #27: “Dethwedding” | April 1, 2008 - 1:15AM | S02E07
Hey it’s been a little while since we got to watch Metalocalypse. In this one, Pickles brother Seth invites Dethklok to his wedding, which already advertises the fact that the wedding “features” Dethklok. His video invitation is hilarious. Seth is dressed in his Sunday best set against serene backdrops while he brags about his sobriety. Pickles is mortified to the point of despondency. The other band members just think it’s very, very funny.
The tribunal explains what American weddings are during one of their meetings. These scenes can be a pointless reminder that there is such a thing as the tribunal, and it also lends a false sense of gravity to the plot of each episode. It also serves what might be an accidental function of supplying future-proof context; let’s say there comes a day when the once-standard American wedding becomes an obsolete curiosity.
Or, let’s say this episode is being shown to a species of aliens who have no idea what a wedding is. You know the type of aliens I’m talking about: the kind that mock our god, oppressively holding up the Holy Bible and remarking “HUMAN PROPAGANDA”.* Just by satirically describing what a wedding is brings all those weirdos up to speed, even though it seems gratuitous. The tribunal actually declare that they will not intervene. Why would they? Dethklok’s just going to a wedding, for fuck’s sake.
*I am actually making a very specific reference to a circa-early-2000s episode of The Outer Limits, where a robot does this. I don’t know the title of the episode, but Heather Graham is in it.
Things are tense between Pickles and his brother. Seth immediately starts drinking again. He has scumbag friends who suck. Seth constantly asks for money. Dethklok perform a song with a little music video accompaniment (for us watching on television at least) featuring a married couple decaying and then eventually mutating into one another, getting all Cronenbergy. Dethklock get Seth a blender, which is just an item on his wedding gift registry. When Seth chews out Pickles for cheaping out, Pickles beats his brother up. Later, he feels bad, so he installs Seth as the head of Dethklok Australia, whose leader was recently assassinated by the Revengencers. Over the closing credits we see Seth thriving in his new position at the absolute expense of Sydney, Australia, which is practically in ruins while he surveys his land, doing a big smile like a tyrant would.
This one is very good. Metalocalypse’s misanthropic sense of humor really shines. The show will often show spectacular examples of gore and mayhem, but nothing is treated with grim incapability like family is...treated. With. Fuck. You know what the whole not ending your sentence with a preposition thing is lame and bad. It’s not that I’m bad at writing. I’m taking a stand.
The show has been taken down from HBOMax since the last time I watched it. It’s currently streaming on Adult Swim. At a glance it seems like it’s streaming in its entirety. It may or may not require a cable log-in. Actually, I’ll check in a private browser. Hang on. Okay. I did it. It played! It’s also on DVD, which is nice, but my copy’s digipak has shattered disc hubs so the discs are not fully secure in the box. Not good. Is there a way to fix this? Wait. Let me google it myself. Okay. Huh. I found something called “adhesive-backed spider DVD/CD disc hubs” that literally might be the exact thing I’m looking for. Wow. Well, you learn something extremely important like that every day, don’t you?

Robert Zunes In (2007)*
Remember when I was asking about the Robert Osbourne host intros? I’m guessing these are what that wiki was talking about! Either whoever wrote that got confused (these were taken from a ZUNE that Adult Swim gave away I guess with select episodes of select shows loaded onto them), or they repurposed some of those intros for the April Fools stunt. Neat! Thank you Kon for finding this and showing me them. Thank you.

Tips for Finding the Perfect Sydney Celebrant
Meet in Person: It's essential to meet potential celebrants in person or via video call to gauge their personality and see if you connect. This meeting is a great opportunity to ask questions and discuss your vision for the ceremony.
Check Availability: Make sure your chosen celebrant is available on your wedding date. Many in-demand celebrants are booked well in advance, so it's a good idea to secure your celebrant early in the planning process.
Ask for Samples: Request examples of previous ceremonies they've officiated to get a sense of their style and approach.
Testimonials: Check out the celebrant’s reviews on Google and on their own website.
A Sydney celebrant is the heart and soul of your special day. They craft a ceremony that is uniquely yours, guide you through the legal aspects, and create a connection that makes your wedding unforgettable.

Miriam Margolyes is heading out on a New Zealand road trip
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/miriam-margolyes-is-heading-out-on-a-new-zealand-road-trip/
Miriam Margolyes is heading out on a New Zealand road trip
Actress, author and international treasure Miriam Margolyes is heading out on another road trip docuseries on the ABC in the new year.
The outspoken British-Australian documentarian charmed us all in her previous two ABC docuseries Almost Australian, Australia Unmasked and Impossibly Australian, as she takes a minivan across the country to meet Aussies from all walks of life. All three of those series are streaming on ABC iview if you haven’t seen them.
Now the ABC has announced Miriam Margolyes: Made in NZ will screen on the ABC in 2025.
“I’m learning my lines for a role in a new film [Holy Days] playing an elderly nun,” Miriam explains.
“In a first for me, the film will be set in New Zealand. I’m very excited about it. But even though it’s just three hours from my home in Sydney, I don’t know anything about New Zealand.
“It seems unforgivable to be so ignorant about a country that’s always been Australia’s closest friend and ally.
“Before I play a New Zealander, I’ve got a campervan to tour the country’s two main islands.
“I want to find out how being a New Zealander is different from being an Aussie. What sets our two countries apart?
“I haven’t got a flying fart of an idea. I need to learn, what is the identity of New Zealand?”
Miriam Margolyes gives candid health update
Miriam Margolyes, known for her acting roles in Harry Potter and Call the Midwife, has been a British-Australian dual citizen for over a decade.
She’s been with her Aussie partner Heather Sutherland since 1968.
In July, Miriam gave a candid update on her health, saying that she knows she “hasn’t got long to live”.
The 83-year-old underwent heart surgery to replace her aortic valve last year. Miriam also shared she’s living with spinal stenosis.
The condition impacts the lower back or neck when the spinal canal narrows and puts pressure on the spinal cord and nerves.
“When you know that you haven’t got long to live – and I’m probably going to die within the next five or six years, if not before – I’m loath to leave behind performing. It’s such a joy,” she told UK’s Telegraph.
“I yearn to play roles that don’t confine me to wheelchairs, but I’m just not strong enough.”
The outspoken octagenarian says she keeps working because her financial situation plays on her mind.
“I’m worried that I won’t have enough money for carers when I finally get paralysed or whatever it is that’s going to happen to me,” Miriam told Radio Times.
“I’m saving up cash so that I can pay people to look after me and my partner.
“We don’t have children, so I need to make sure I’m going to be looked after in the way that I’ve become accustomed.”
Miriam Margolyes released her second book last year and says she’s tapped into a lucrative side hustle: making hundreds of thousands through personalised video site Cameo.
“[The videos are] usually to celebrate someone’s birthday, wedding anniversary or marriage. I’ve got 30 of them to do today,” she told Radio Times.
“I find my [late-in-life popularity] puzzling and very gratifying. I can’t totally explain it. But I do credit Graham Norton with a great deal of my success.
“I was always told that I would come into my own when I was older. I just didn’t know I would have to be this old for it to happen.”
