bae suzy. cisfemale. bisexual. — now resetting HANA SONG from ( overwatch ) ! now they're NARI PARK, a twenty-one y/o who’s currently a video game streamer. they arrived ( ten months ) ago & they ( do ) remember their old life. fans say they’re [ DEDICATED + CHARISMATIC ] but [ STUBBORN + IMPULSIVE ] & associate them w/ the sound of soda cans opening, blowing into game cartridges, rubber bracelets, the click of buttons on game controllers, starry nights, too-big sweatshirts.

01. when the virtual reality shut down, what was your muse’s reaction ? how did they handle the dark period ?

hana was scared at first. her mech was broken and there was nothing she could do to fix it -- what if the omnics came back and MEKA was unprepared? what would become of her country if she couldn’t protect it? they were lucky, though -- throughout the dark period, there were no attacks from the omnics, almost like they’d been turned off, too. this was actually a relief to hana, who had previously dedicated all her energy to the cause. she had time to do other things -- not that there was much to do, in the panic and chaos that erupted during the dark period. it wasn’t a comfortable life, but it was a safer one.

02. what was their reaction to finding out they were fiction ? how did they feel about the offer to become human ?

having been an actress, hana knew a thing or two about fake lives. the idea that she was fiction, however, took some time to wrap her head around. all that her city, her country, the whole world went through was had been simply for others’ entertainment? she had risked her life -- which wasn’t even real -- countless times, but that had just been a script. she was furious, and demanded answers.

the offer to become human, however -- it was tempting, to say the least. after finding out that she had risked her life for the simple entertainment of people, hana wanted the same freedom they had. she wanted to make her own decisions and live a life independent of any script. these people, the directors, the programmers, were evil in her eyes, but a deal with the devil can certainly seem sweet. and she took it.

03. before the island, where did they live ? what was their reset life like ? who are the significant people in their lives ?

nari was born in busan, south korea to two loving parents. she led a relatively sheltered life without much danger. her parents were always supportive of their daughter’s dreams and proud of her accomplishments. while her life had plenty of typical adolescent drama for the viewers to watch, nari much preferred the time she got to spend playing video games, a passion of hers. she held the high score on most of the machines at her local arcade and played in local super smash bros. tournaments. the most important people in nari’s life, aside from her parents and a handful of friends from growing up, are probably her online community surrounding her stream, which lets her interact with fans. she doesn’t yet know most of them are also fans of her live feed, as her chat is heavily moderated by the producers to keep any comments about that away from her.

04. what drew them to the island ?

good wifi nari came to the island to live with a friend (who unbeknownst to her, is actually an actor) she met on twitch to live and stream together. 

05. does your character have any secrets ( big or small ) that they think are private when in reality they were broadcasted live to the whole world ?

the fact that her memories are coming back is her only big secret, and she’s desperate to keep it so that she doesn’t get institutionalized or something (she’s not sure what it all means yet).

06. what are the major similarities between the character’s canon life & their reset life ? what about the differences ?

both hana and nari love video games. it’s their passion, and at one point in both their lives, their career. other than that, their lives are pretty different. nari has never known true danger, while hana was recruited into MEKA at nineteen and from that point on was constantly risking her life for her country.

07. how much of their old life do they remember ? what triggered these memories ? when did their memories return ?

she remembers bits and pieces of her old life -- the pounding of her heart in her chest when piloting her mech, the flashing of camera lights, the feeling of pride and satisfaction after fending off an omnic attack. it started a month or two after nari came to the island -- nothing in particular triggered it; maybe it was being around all these other people in a situation similar to hers. she doesn’t quite know what it all means yet though, or really that they’re memories at all -- she’s confused and a little scared, and that’s her biggest secret that she’s trying to keep from everyone she knows.

Background (Portions marked with * are purely my own headcanons):

Mako Rutledge was born in 2028 in *New Zealand to a single mother. Although his childhood was rough, he grew up surrounded by a loving and nurturing extended family. His mother moved to Australia in 2040, a year before the crisis began. Due to the sheer destruction and chaos that ensued within the city, Mako’s mother moved out into the Outback and lived as a farmer raising commercial pigs. He met a woman by the name of Olivia Irwin in 2046 and married her within a year. Upon his mother’s death and refusal to continue the sale of the pigs she’d raised, Olivia revealed her true colors as a cruel and abusive person. In 2050, Mako’s first and only Daughter, Anahera, was born.*

Upon the end of the war, the outback was awarded to the native Omnic population as a peace offering. Outraged, in 2053 at age 25, Mako joined the Australian Liberation Front *as a chemist. His knowledge of chemicals and potent medicinal plants proved invaluable as he created a concoction that dulled pain, slowed bleeding, and promoted adrenaline creation in the Liberation Front’s forces. He was reluctant to allow the use of it as the formula was still in desperate need of correction, but he had no choice on the matter.* Not even a year later, the Omnium was destroyed and left the outback irradiated and scarred.

*He returned home and awaited with his wife for relief to come in the form of military or Overwatch. For 5 years, he tried his best to protect and provide for his family, but at age 8, Anahera perished from radiation poisoning. In a drunken rage over the loss of her child, Olivia struck Mako and for the first time in their entire marriage, he struck back, killing her in the process. Upon the realization he had nothing left, Mako Rutledge effectively died that day. He created a new persona, one that was not meek nor gentle; in 2059* Mako Rutledge became Roadhog. *With the use of the very chemicals he so reluctantly allowed ALF to use, he became nearly unstoppable. This came at a price; he became addicted to the substance, using up at least a canister a day.*

From that point forward, Roadhog was a ruthless and brutal killer, *slipping into disassociation and allowing his mind to rest dormant as he played a persona when killing.* He grew notorious for his cruelty and knack for destruction, *as well as his protective nature earning him a living as a bodyguard for-hire.* Nothing much changed until 2073 upon meeting a fellow junker named Junkrat whom had discovered an incredible treasure in the wreckage of the Omnium. He hired Roadhog as his own personal bodyguard in exchange for a 50/50 cut of the treasure. The following year marked the beginning of their international crime spree.

Personality:

Roadhog is a very simple man on the surface. He’s quiet, but he doesn’t allow himself to be pushed around. He’s grown a thick skin regarding teasing and banter, especially having worked with Junkrat for the past 3 years. But underneath his cold and ruthless exterior, Mako Rutledge still lives.

Roadhog is a persona Mako created to serve a cause; survive by any means necessary. He does not kill without a reason nor does he harm innocent people–period. If he thinks something can be solved with words, he will approach it in a civilized manner. Unfortunately in the outback, problems were rarely discussed with words. However, Roadhog has shown he can be kind and even gentle, especially around his boss.

When the mask comes off, Mako’s humanity begins to return. His usual stoic demeanor begins to crack down the longer his face remains exposed, thus his preference to keep it on. He deeply regrets the unintentional murder of his wife and truly believes he is the lowest form of criminal scum the planet has to offer. He feels unworthy of being loved or cared for–and with his violent background, he even believes he deserves this.

@anecdotesandelderthings wanted to hear about ocs, so here’s some of mine?? not all of them obviously i have too many but still;; Shiloh Surana is a small, cheery elvhen mage who loves animals and interacting with other people. While not helping others on adventures, she works as a traveling healer of animals- a traveling veterinarian. She is five feet even, with a healthy tan, freckles, short reddish-brown hair and magenta eyes. Her nose is squished into her face and pointed upwards. She has a cheery disposition, and gets along well with most anyone- enthusing about the latest animals she’d seen that day! Osiria Adaar is a tal-vashoth healer, born and raised in Seheron. She is mute due to her magic surfacing when she was six. She was able to escape when a tevinter raid interrupted the saarebas-making process. She is six foot nine, with sheared horns. She is also albino- her skin and hair are a pearly white, and her eyes are a deep red. She is graceful, polite, and kind- and when she casts magic on the battlefield she almost looks like she’s ballet dancing. Siòphra is a smol one, and slightly chubby. She is black, as well as albino, with really long and poofy platinum hair. Her eyes are really pale, kind of like pearls! Her body is also covered in freckles and moles, and her skin is more pinkish than white, compared to Osiria. She tends to wear very dark and flowy clothes. She has DELD, or Developmental Expressive Language Disorder, as well as Asperger’s syndrome. As a result she is non verbal, and instead communicates using bird calls. Her favorite calls are from crows, ravens, magpies- mostly birds of prey! She was raised by a grim reaper and his husband, after they’d found her in an abandoned temple/mausoleum. She’s a jr. reaper! She usually wears dark clothes while she works, similar to what you’d think a ninja would wear. She wield a kusarigama- kind of like a mini sickle connected to a chain. She also wears a mask shaped like a bird skull! Wysteria used to be a human, but isn’t anymore. After she died in a fire when she was 16, her father went mad with grief, and worked very hard to bring her back. He succeeded, after binding her to a life sized, resin, ball jointed doll. Once the organization he worked for found out, they were horrified. He commuted suicide before he could be brought to trial. Wysteria went on to become a scientist in the european branch of the order of the Black Cross- in the world of d. gray man. Frida Tellers is my oc from the resident evil universe- both she and Wystie are being adapted to the scp foundation universe too at the moment. Frida was a soldier in the US marines, and after she left service she became a police officer in Raccoon City. There, she worked her way up to the S.T.A.R.S team, where she met Wesker. Long story short, she fell in love with him, and were married by the time the first game started. Unbeknownst to her, Wesker used her to test out the t-virus in a more diluted form, trying to see if the results would be different. She found out, though, and was able to get away before he could turn her completely. She was already partially transformed, though, so she couldn’t stay out in public view. She still doesn’t know what Wesker did to their son, and has lost hope by this point. Sally Li May is my version of Courier Six, from Fallout New Vegas. She’s a ghoul, who was born around ten years after the war. Her family lived near a radioactive crater, which gradually gave them radiation sickness and later turned them all into ghouls. She became a full ghoul when she was around 17. After her family was killed by raiders when she was 20, she left on her own to become a courier. After the game ended, she wandered even more- accompanied by Rex, ED-E, Raúl, and her pseudo grandma Lily Bowen. She’s later joined by Suzy, my lone wanderer, and her friends Amara and Butch, as well as her dog. They were in the Commonwealth on a job when fallout 4 was happening. Sally eventually ended up with X6-88, who she affectionately refers to as Exodus. Ishimaru Nanami is my utau, who I’ve adapted into many fandoms in the past. I’m also developing her into an overwatch oc as an omnic. She’s one of my oldest characters, and was designed as who I thought I wanted to be at the time- so she’s very extroverted, confident, active, and tall. I’ve changed, but she really hasn’t. She’s six foot five, and very androgynous. She presents as either male or female, but prefers female pronouns. She’s paired with another utau named Ron Keine, but he’s not my character.
