How to Find the Best Denim Manufacturer for Small Clothing Brands: A Guide to Low-Quantity Production
Denimā€”it's the fabric that never goes out of style. From classic jeans to trendy jackets and skirts, denim has long been a staple in wardrobes worldwide. For emerging clothing brands looking to tap into the denim market, however, producing quality denim wear can be a challengeā€”especially when the goal is to start with low-quantity orders. Whether youā€™re based in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, or Europe, finding the right denim manufacturer who can accommodate small batches while maintaining the quality and sustainability standards your brand stands for can make all the difference.
If you're wondering how to get started, here's a comprehensive guide on everything you need to know about denim manufacturing for small orders. Letā€™s break down what the process looks like, the benefits of low-quantity denim production, and how to partner with the right manufacturer for your brandā€™s success.
Tumblr media
What Does Denim Manufacturing Involve?
Denim manufacturing isn't just about producing jeans. It's about creating high-quality, durable garments that are crafted with care. From sourcing the fabric to applying finishing techniques, each step of the process is crucial. Here's a look at the denim manufacturing stages:
1. Denim Fabric Sourcing
The first step in denim manufacturing is sourcing the fabric. Denim fabric typically comes in a woven twill pattern, often dyed with indigo to achieve that iconic blue look. For small batch production, you might choose to either source pre-made denim or work with your manufacturer to create a custom denim fabric that suits your specific needs.
Popular fabric choices for denim include:
Raw Denim: Unwashed and untreated denim that will fade naturally over time.
Stonewashed Denim: A pre-washed, faded denim for a more worn-in look.
Eco-Friendly Denim: Made from organic cotton or recycled fibers, this type of denim is growing in popularity as sustainability becomes a top priority for many brands.
2. Pattern Making and Cutting
Once the fabric is sourced, the next stage is creating the patterns that will be used to cut the fabric into pieces. Whether youā€™re making jeans, jackets, skirts, or accessories, pattern-making ensures each piece is cut precisely, reducing fabric waste and making the most out of your materials.
For low-quantity denim orders, youā€™ll often work with a manufacturer who can create custom patterns that match your designs, whether it's a classic cut or something more experimental.
3. Sewing and Assembly
After the fabric is cut, itā€™s time to sew the pieces together. This is where the craftsmanship comes into play. Each piece of denim is carefully sewn to create the final garment. During this phase, you may also add elements like zippers, buttons, rivets, and labelsā€”all of which are considered trimmings.
For smaller runs, manufacturers often focus more on precision and quality to ensure every stitch is perfect. If your brand is known for attention to detail, this is the stage where your product really starts to take shape.
4. Washing and Finishing
Denim can be finished in several ways to achieve different looks and textures. This includes:
Stone washing to give denim a faded, worn look.
Distressing or whiskering to mimic natural wear patterns.
Rinsing to soften the fabric and remove excess dye.
The finishing process gives each pair of jeans or denim jacket its unique personality. For small orders, you can work with manufacturers who offer custom finishing techniques, which means you can experiment with various washes and distressing methods to create a truly one-of-a-kind product.
The Benefits of Low-Quantity Denim Production
While mass production often offers lower unit costs, low-quantity denim manufacturing has several key advantages for small clothing brands looking to build their niche and identity in the denim market:
1. Customization
Low-quantity production allows you to have greater control over the design. You can select the denim weight, finishes, and even the stitching methods to create products that align perfectly with your brandā€™s aesthetic. This flexibility is especially valuable if you're building a unique collection or experimenting with new styles.
2. Lower Risk
When producing small batches, you're not committing to large quantities of inventory, which means thereā€™s less risk involved. You can test the market with smaller orders to see which styles or fits resonate best with your target audience. This is an ideal approach for startups and emerging brands.
3. Sustainability
Small-batch production can be much more sustainable than mass manufacturing. You can work with manufacturers who prioritize eco-friendly practices, such as using organic cotton or recycled denim. Additionally, smaller runs tend to have fewer waste materials, reducing the overall environmental impact of your production process.
4. Faster Turnaround Times
With low-quantity orders, production times tend to be shorter. You can work with manufacturers who are agile enough to deliver products faster, enabling you to respond to trends or adjust your collections more quickly.
How to Choose the Right Denim Manufacturer for Small Orders
When looking for a denim manufacturer who specializes in small orders, there are a few key factors to consider:
1. Expertise and Experience
Look for manufacturers with extensive experience in denim production. Denim is a unique fabric that requires specialized knowledge to work with, especially if youā€™re looking for high-quality finishes or customized designs.
2. Sustainability Practices
If sustainability is important to your brand, make sure the manufacturer offers eco-friendly options like organic denim, waterless dyeing, and low-impact finishing techniques. These practices can help reduce your brand's carbon footprint.
3. Flexibility with Low Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs)
Not all manufacturers are open to small-batch production, so look for companies that offer flexible minimum order quantities. This allows you to test different designs or styles without committing to large quantities.
4. Quality Control
With smaller orders, you want to make sure your denim products meet your quality standards. Choose a manufacturer that offers detailed quality control checks throughout the production process to ensure that every garment is up to par.
Sustainable Denim: An Essential Element for Future Fashion
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important to denim consumers. More and more brands are turning to eco-friendly denim production to reduce their environmental impact. This includes using recycled denim, organic cotton, and adopting more energy-efficient production processes.
By working with a sustainable denim manufacturer, you can not only create beautiful products but also build a brand that aligns with the growing demand for environmentally responsible fashion.
Conclusion: Start Your Denim Journey with the Right Manufacturing Partner
Launching a successful denim collection with low-quantity production is entirely possible with the right denim manufacturing partner. By working with experts who understand the complexities of denim fabric, design, and sustainable production methods, you can bring your denim vision to life while staying true to your brandā€™s values.

Good News - July 8-14
Like these weekly compilations? Tip me at $Kaybarr1735! And if you tip me and give me a way to contact you, at the end of the month I'll send you a link to all of the articles I found but didn't use each week!
1. Zoo welcomes birth of four endangered horse foals
Tumblr media
ā€œ[The Marwell Zoo in GB] said it was "delighted" to welcome the arrivals to the endangered Przewalskiā€™s horse herd. All four are female and said to be "doing well" after two were born in May and two in June. [ā€¦] ā€œThese horses, that were previously listed extinct in the wild, are an example of how zoo breeding programmes can help restore threatened species around the world.ā€ [ā€¦] All the Przewalskiā€™s horses alive today are descended from just 12 individuals. Current estimates suggest there are 178 mature individuals living in the wild.ā€
2. Restoring woodlands and planting trees for sustainability success
Tumblr media
ā€œIn 2023, [the Marwell Zoo] planted 9,000 new trees [ā€¦] both within the zoo and on our surrounding land. [ā€¦] Marwell tries to encourage natural feeding behaviour and nutrition by including leafy material [in animalsā€™ feed] as much as possible. [ā€¦] Planting more trees and enhancing management of our existing woodlands, prepares the way to further self-sufficiency in browse production in the future. Plus, it creates new habitats for wildlife in our woodland areas.ā€
3. Inclusive Playgrounds Allow Children Of All Abilities To Play
Tumblr media
ā€œWith ramps allowing children in wheelchairs to ascend the central play structure, as well as numerous other swings and apparatus usable for children of all abilities, the 16,000-square-foot P.K.ā€™s Place is St. Paulā€™s first fully inclusive playground. [ā€¦] To be universally accessible, a play area must have at least 70% of its play features fully accessible, far more than required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). [ā€¦] Play areas should allow parents and grandparents with disabilities to participate as well.ā€
4. Combination treatment can increase human insulin-producing cells in vivo
ā€œ[Diabetes-model mice] were treated with the combination therapy [of a plant product called harmine and ā€œa widely used class of type 2 diabetes therapyā€] and their diabetes was rapidly reversed. Strikingly, human beta cell numbers increased by 700 percent over three months with this drug combination. "This is the first time scientists have developed a drug treatment that is proven to increase adult human beta cell numbers in vivo. This research brings hope for the use of future regenerative therapies to potentially treat the hundreds of millions of people with diabetes," said Dr. Garcia-OcaƱa, the paper's corresponding author.ā€
5. Decades of Dedication: Australiaā€™s Largest Ongoing Urban Restoration Project
Tumblr media
ā€œ[Friends of Lake Claremont] has transformed the area into a thriving ecosystem, re-establishing native habitats and fostering biodiversity. This year, 800 native seedlings (100 trees, 350 shrubs and 350 ground covers) have been planted on the northwestern buffer of Lake Claremont. Volunteers replaced a large Port Jackson fig (Ficus rubiginosa) affected by [beetle] infestation with native plants to enhance the local wildlife habitat, thereby benefiting insects, frogs, birds and brown bandicoots. [ā€¦] Overall, the project contributes to the areaā€™s function as a regional ecological corridor, linking inland bushlands, the Swan River and the Indian Ocean.ā€
6. Important habitat for fish in Heart of the Fraser now conserved
Tumblr media
ā€œBritish Columbiaā€™s iconic salmon now have more protected spawning habitat in the lower Fraser River, thanks to the Nature Conservancy of Canadaā€™s (NCCā€™s) conservation acquisition of Carey Island. [ā€¦] Carey Island and its gravel channels offer calm and crucial spawning and rearing habitat for the riverā€™s fish and aquatic species. [ā€¦] The PelĆ³lxw Tribe [ā€¦is also] actively working to restore the resilience of aquatic habitat within this stretch of the Lower Fraser. NCC is exploring opportunities to collaborate with the PelĆ³lxw Tribe in support of their vision for stewardship of the area, which prioritizes both ecological and cultural values.ā€
7. Prime editing efficiently corrects cystic fibrosis mutation in human lung cells
ā€œ[R]esearchers have developed a gene-editing approach that efficiently corrects the most common mutation that causes cystic fibrosis, found in 85 percent of patients. With further development, it could pave the way for treatments that are administered only once and have fewer side effects. The new method precisely and durably corrects the mutation in human lung cells, restoring cell function to levels similar to that of Trikafta [the standard treatment since 2019].ā€
8. Montanaā€™s High Court Considers a Constitutional Right to a Stable Climate
Tumblr media
ā€œAt issue was the appeal of a decision last year, when a Montana judge blocked a state law that prohibited agencies from considering climate impacts when deciding whether to approve fossil fuel projects such as new power plants, pipelines or mining. The ruling, by District Judge Kathy Seeley, was prompted by a lawsuit filed by 16 youths who argued that the law violated Montanaā€™s constitutional right to a ā€œclean and healthful environment.ā€ It was the first ruling in the United States to effectively establish constitutional rights to a stable climate[ā€¦.]ā€
9. The US is about to get its first solar-covered canal
Tumblr media
ā€œThe first canal-based solar project in the U.S. is nearing completion on tribal lands south of Phoenix, Arizona. [ā€¦] The long, narrow solar array design would snake along the line of the canal and tap into the local electrical distribution grid every 1,000 feet, or every one megawatt. [ā€¦] ā€œCanal solar allows for greater power production per land size, cleaner water, less power transmission losses, and significant reduction in evaporation[ā€¦.]ā€ Covering the entire 8,000 miles of canals and waterways managed by the Bureau of Reclamation with solar panels could generate over 25 gigawatts of renewable energy and reduce water evaporation by tens of billions of gallons[ā€¦.]ā€
10. Camera traps offer glimpse of first beaver born in Northumberland for 400 years
Tumblr media
ā€œ"Itā€™s such a relief that they have bred successfully and to see a new fluffy kit swimming with the family[ā€¦.]ā€ In just one year [since releasing the beavers], there has been a noticeable increase in resident trout, says the National Trust, along with more regular visits from kingfishers and grey herons. There are more insects at the site, too, thanks to the organic matter that builds up behind the dams, which in turn provides food for Daubentonā€™s bats. [ā€¦] Beavers also play an important role in creating habitats that are more resilient to the effects of climate change[ā€¦.]ā€

For the last week or so, I have been quietly but terribly angry about something. And on the whole I think that when you're actively angry it's better to just let things ferment a while in quiet, but here I am.
It started with just a slow drip of things. Country artists being ignored by city art shows. A video recapping and adding to what I already know about how huge corporations created a new serfdom for farmers by monopolizing meat packing, distribution, commodities markets, squeezing farmer's profit margins until many of them go bankrupt, give up, sell to developers--commit suicide. Ah yes. Did you know that farmers and agricultural workers commit suicide at a very high rate? This statistic holds in the US, UK, India, Australia... Then add story after story about Israeli troops and settlers destroying olive trees. Did you know that it takes three years to get the first handful of olives from a tree? That olive trees can live for 500 years?
Did you know that Putin is taking a disproportionate number of his troops from the Siberian country to fight in Ukraine? That way he weakens an ethnic minority while at the same time hiding the full cost of his war from his more important constituents in the western cities.
And then about halfway through a video about the Holodomor, the Killing By Starvation, when Stalin deliberately made Ukrainian peasants take the very worst of the famine created by collectivization, while giving their grain to people in the cities, I realized that I was fucking furious.
Not just about the individual atrocities, all of which deserve my rage of course. No, I was just.... So, so fucking tired of rural people being the invisible dumping grounds of "progress" that has forgotten how life is created and sustained.
That's it. No suggestions, nothing productive, no reason or measure. I'm just angry.

Only Workers can Prevent Global Warming
Capitalist ā€œsolutionsā€ to Global Warming will push the cost onto those least able to pay and generate splits in society which will prevent effective action. Only the working class can prevent global warming, by making the capitalists pay. Only the working class, by taking direct action to seize the means of production from the capitalists, can:
Close down the fossil fuel power industry and convert to renewables without forcing miners and power workers into unemployment;
Massively boost public transport and shift the emphasis of travel away from the private motor vehicle, without forcing workers in the vehicle industry into unemployment; and
Change the pattern of urban development to end suburban sprawl and focus on sustainable communities and transport options.
Even a government wanting to solve global warming can be defeated by the economic power of capitalists intent on protecting their own profits. Only through workplace organising and direct action can this power be removed. And only a federation of workplace and community councils can plan and implement a path to a sustainable future, in Australia and for the planet as a whole. Weā€™re talking about a workersā€™ revolution, because nothing else will work.

From Poultry DVM
"Suprelorin is a sustained release subcutaneous implant that releases slow doses of deslorelin acetate to suppress the hen's reproductive endocrine system by preventing the production of pituitary hormones. It temporarily stops hens from laying eggs.
.
Stopping egg laying helps in the prevention and treatment of the following reproductive diseases in hens:
.
šŸ‘‰ Cloacal prolapse
šŸ‘‰ Egg binding
šŸ‘‰ Egg yolk peritonitis
šŸ‘‰ Fatty liver disease
šŸ‘‰ Ovarian cancer
šŸ‘‰ Ovarian cysts
šŸ‘‰ Oviduct impaction
šŸ‘‰ Salpingitis
.
The product was originally created in Australia for use in dogs and has been available in Australia and New Zealand since 2007 and the European Union since 2008.
.
In the USA, this product is sold only for use in ferrets for treatment of Adrenal disease. It is used off-label in birds and illegal in chickens, ducks and other poultry since the FDA considers them "food animals"
.
The implant comes pre-loaded in an insertion device and administered while the bird is sedated or under anesthesia. The duration of effectiveness ranges from 4 to 6 months depending on the size of the implant (4.7 mg or 9.4 mg) and the particular bird."
Tumblr media
(Yes it is illegal to use this implant in a food animal. If it's a pet chicken a lot of vets will prescribe it to your bird anyway. This is because you don't want to use hormones with potentially food producing animals despite the implant stopping egg laying.)
My leghorns have used these for years and it definitely lengthened their lifespan. Unfortunately they can stop functioning with chronic use but it can still save your birds life or lengthen their lifespan for a few years.

Eurovision 2024: #27
27. FRANCE Slimane - "Mon amour" 4th place
youtube
Decade ranking: 103/153 [Above The Black Mamba, below Marco Mengoni]
Slimane has a very powerrful voice. šŸ™‚
THE RANKING
Tumblr media
Okay, FINE. I suppose I can't leave it like that. šŸ™„ Although I'd much rather would.
So *SLIME*-MANE. There's a lot to unpack and a lot I know most people will disagree with my takes, but oh well. I've ranked Joost low, and Mustii low, so it's only fair the Slimane fans get some scalding hot truth tea splashed in the face from this deluded overthinker. Disliking men is a much more productive way to run away from my problems than simpling them is.
So remember how I spoke about songs designed to Make People Cry? You know I hold emotional extortion in contempt. "Pity" is just a slightly more charitable way of looking down at others, and shouldn't be strived for. These anthems are inherently designed to manipulate the undiscerning into uglycrying while offering very little sustainance. Yep, we're here yet again. Another song that doesn't pass even a tiny bit of scrutiny, except in a language most viewers do not speak.
Tumblr media
In fact, I'm pretty sure that "Mon Amour"'s francophoneness is what made many people sleep on the fact that it's not exactly narratively sound. Most people that I've spoken about ESC to that understand French haven't responded well to "Mon Amour" (lol one of my French friends bursting into chat all "SLIMANE REPS US? EW. HIS MUSIC IS SO BORING AND CORNY šŸ˜£" hours after Mon Amour's release passed without comment from any of us ā™„).
The indifference makes sense when you read the lyrics. It's filled with cliche's that scream "I YEM ZE FR0NCH~", a little bit too much on the nose. If I thought "Ɖvidemment" was bad, this is worse. Lines such as "reviens Ć  Paris" and ''Es-ce-que tu-m'aimes oĆ¹ pas?" are such clichĆ©s they feel thoughtless and expected, like someone writing out the monologue on autopilot.
Tumblr media
But what sets me off is the overal narrative. Slimane and France have attempted to retcon "Mon amour" as "the story of an artist reaching out to his fans, seeking validation" but that is not what the lyrics read out. Instead, speak of the aftermath of a broken romance, where SHE has had her heart shattered to a degree that she LEFT THE PROTAGONIST'S HOMETOWN FOR AN UNKNOWN DESTINATION AND BROKE OFF ALL CONTACT. Instead of giving her, you know, personal space or time to reflect, or even lick his wounds, he keeps desperately asking her whether she still loves him or not. Dude, I don't know her, and I know the answer is "no". Give it a rest, and move on. Sadly, Slimane didn't move on and spends a full three minutes wailing on about it. "I want her, I need her only her, why doesn't she love me". We know where this ends - with a restraining order and either her or him dead and dismembered inside a dumpster six months later. (Australia's jury of snarky yet emotionally intelligent gays picking up on this and ranking him dead last ā™„ bless them ā™„)
As you can perhaps tell, the above realizations completely KILL the romantic aspect of the song for me. I cannot, and WILL NOT get into its grief and sadness. All the parties involved should be GLAD it's over.
Tumblr media
Instrumentally, the song's just... generic piano ballad, nothing new or innovative here. Dime a dozen, we've heard it before, bla bla bla. "Mon amour" is a nothingburger, an empty vessel for Slimane's vocal chops.
Which brings me to another problem I have with it - I personally don't really care much about technical skill? Eurovision is an audio-visual SONG contest, not a SINGING contest. It is cool that you can nail those masturbatory vocal projections. You're a singer who can sing. "Loud" however is a pitch, not an emotion. It would have been more impressive if you've also discovered the cure of cancer alongside it. (Curing tumors with vocal vibrations. Medical students reading this, get on it so I can be impressed by Slimane.)
Focusing exclusively on that though, is annoying to me. Good Eurovision entrants start with a SONG. "Mon amour" barely classifies as one. End off.
That isn't to say I cannot respect Slimane's vocal for what it was. I mean THIS:
Tumblr media
is a feat only a few vocalists can successfully pull off. It is MORE impressive the first time you witness it before the laws of Diminishing Returns kicks in. But it was immensely clever to trial it at Dora and then include it into the song itself - it gives the performance stakes and gravitas, so why not?
However that brought the song's weakness even more to the forefront to me. My logic is the following: if you can pull off such a stunt, then why aren't you the immediate fave to win? Eurovision 2024 was the most open year perhaps of all times, and I'm supposed to believe a voice THIS strong cannot win it by itself? There are enough examples of strong vocals POWERING through merely decent songs (CĆ©line and Corinne HermĆØs for instance) into a first place. If you can pull that off and still lose doesn't that prove your song is fucking shite?
Going into the contest I was HOPING to get something out of the live besides Big Vocals and also that France wouldn't morph into a direct contender to win (You would HOPE that 2024's varied and exciting line-up was competitive enough as to not crown a vocal projection exercise as its winner), and ultimately, I got both of my wishes because Eurovision 2024 was BORISVISION. I was the meta this year, bitches, and I think fourth place is a perfectly reasonable result for a vocal that strong on a song that nonexistent.
But more importantly, Slimane managed to inject his performance with EMOTIONS and good god I really needed that.
Tumblr media
It took a LOT of effort from Slimane for me to recognize that yes, this man is cooking with gas, and his expertise elevates the whole package. "Seductive" is the incorrect emotion for the subject matter but whatever. Ignoring the subject matter is the only way you can enjoy the song, so if that's what one must to do end the night on a high note, so be it. I let it pass, with few regrets.
Like Nutsa, he served enough for me to respect him ~as a performer~ who deserved the result he got. Like "Firefighter", I still have some contempt for the song itself, and there's a strict limit for how Im i'm willing to place it.
Turns out that boundary lies at Marco Mengoni. "Mon amour" always felt like a lazy, soulless answer to "Due vite" for me, and I'm not willing put it ahead, nor to re-examine my stance on DV so quickly after my 2023 ranking. "Due vite" was a song that ultimately wasn't my cup of tea, but it was the superior composition, and deserves a higher mark.
So ultimately, I end with Slimane a bittersweet note. A man with the capability to win the Eurovision Song Contest, yes and who manifested his impending loss with below average penmanship. If the French are looking for someone to blame for not winning once since 1977, they can start with their failure to recognize their 2024 song needed a revamp.
THE RANKING (again)

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Friday, 25 August 2023
HRH The Crown Prince awarded the 4th "HRH Crown Prince Frederik International Business Awards" at Frederik VIIIā€™s Palace today to three companies that have shown special results on the international scene. Sustainable fish production in Egypt, green architecture Down Under and breakthroughs in the American health sector characterize this year's three award recipients: Aller Aqua Egypt, 3XN Australia and MagVenture Inc. The three companies are all subsidiaries of Danish companies. The award, which is given out once a year in the categories Business Excellence, Green Solutions and Newcomer of The Year, is an extension of the Royal House's many-year efforts to promote Danish business interests - an effort that the Crown Prince's father, Prince Henrik, clarified more than 35 years ago with the Exportforeningens Diploma and H.K.H Prince Henry's Medal of Honor.

Hey lovely. Wanted to ask you this as you work in the industry but who funds Louisā€™ tour? Is that the record company or is he doing it himself? And who pays his band, manager etc? Iā€™m just curious as to how much support heā€™s getting from his record label or if heā€™s really doing a lot of self funding.
Hello, my love! Iā€™m gonna try and explain this the simplest way possible so I donā€™t get into too much jargon and make you read a 3,000 word essay hehe. Also, contracts can all vary, but this is the most standard way of touring when it comes to big artists. Letā€™s goooooo!
Okay, SO, when a big artist (or band) go on tour, they will 99.9% of the time have a contractual Agreement with a concert promoter, this includes the likes of Australian exclusive promoter TEG (who Niall is touring Australia with this year), international promoter Live Nation (Harry toured worldwide with them, Louis did Australia/Asia with them and probably worldwide too because of global deals), Australia/NZ exclusive promoter Frontier Touring (T Swift for Australia, but she was with Live Nation in the US) and there are many other promoters worldwide too. Youā€™ll see on some specific marketing material that the artist and promoter put out, it will have their logo at the bottom of the tour poster, and shows they are what is called a ā€œsponsorā€ or the concert promoter for this tour. See examples of this below:
Tumblr media
^ niallā€™s Australian tour with TEG live on the bottom right
Tumblr media
^ one of Harryā€™s US posters with Live Nation at the bottom
Tumblr media
^louisā€™ Singapore tour poster, also with Live Nation at the bottom
So basically, what these concert promoters do, is sponsor the artist. That means, the booking agent/tour manager will sign a contract with whichever promoter offers the best deal, and will tour with them. The reason why they sign up for a tour with a promoter, is because the promoter provides a safety net, and takes care of a lot of the things that come with touring that the artist and their team donā€™t wanna think about organising, and so they let them do it for them. This includes stuff like paying and organising crewing teams and riggers and those guys, work Visas to get into the country, marketing, venues and available dates for shows, catering, sound/lights/backline/LED, rent costs for the venue, security, flights, accommodation, etc., which is negotiated per the contractual Agreement.
The tour manager of the artist also works really closely with these guys to approve any staging, catering, or locally rented lighting rigs and all that specific fun stuff that the artist doesnā€™t travel with, but is particular about to make the shows/tour exactly how they want them (this will be in their production rider and hospitality rider that they supply the promoter with).
Letā€™s say, for example, Niall really wants to stay in a specific 5 star hotel in Brisbane, he wants a flight to Aus at a very particular time on a very specific date, he wants to bring 40 crew members with him, he needs a specific set of lights and a particular sound desk at each show (bc heā€™s my little drama queen). Him and his team are super busy on the other side of the world, they just donā€™t have time to organise all of that. It would be constant emails and phone calls back and forth with quotes, availability, submitting 40 work Visa applications, multiple suppliers saying ā€œyes we can do thatā€ and ā€œno we canā€™tā€, time zones, etc., so why not sign up with a promoter and let them do it for him?
So now, we get into the money side of things. Sure, niall knows he will make money if he tours without a promoter, he knows heā€™ll sell tickets in Aus, and he knows that heā€™d probably come out with a profit. But apart from not wanting to organise and spending a heap of money on all of this stuff, is it worth touring if he doesnā€™t think itā€™ll be sustainable and heā€™s basically lost money from doing it? No, itā€™s not. SO promoters know this, and they all fight for artists to sign with them, by offering up the biggest guarantee they can. This is often a guarantee vs ticket sales scenario.
So, if TEG were like ā€œhey niall, weā€™ll guarantee you $800,000 to tour with us, or, 80% of ticket sales, whichever amount is higherā€. A guarantee means heā€™s not relying on ticket sales alone. He knows that if none of his shows sell out and less people come than he thought, heā€™s still gonna get $800,000. Or, if he sells a heap of tickets, he gets more than that, yay! But if Frontier Touring were like ā€œnah, come with us, weā€™ll give you $700,000 vs 90% of ticket sales, heā€™d have to consider the fact he might not make as much money, unless he really trusts that all of his shows sell out. So they usually go with whoever can give a higher guarantee.
Now, within these deals, sometimes the higher the guarantee, the more the artist has to pay for themselves (Iā€™m keeping this at likeā€¦ what a Harry/Niall/Louis level deal would kind of be, not like an Elton John level or something, because that would probably vary entirely). So, Niall has been guaranteed this insane amount of money, but TEG are then like ā€œwellā€¦ weā€™ll do all of this and you know youā€™re making money, but we do have a budget. So you can pay for your flights and work visas, and everything that you want that is above our budget cap, but we will try to keep everything under budget unless you approve to pay more for a specific thing you wantā€. Ya know? So yeah, Niall is like ā€œhell yeah dudes, sounds good. Sign me upā€. And then itā€™s all a bunch of finance organising etc., but yeah. Usually the smaller the band, the more theyā€™ll pay for if they go with a promoter, because the promoter doesnā€™t want to take too many risks on them and still needs to make money. Theyā€™ll still get a guarantee, but will have to sort out more by themselves, and not treated exactly like royalty like Harry would be.
So long story short, the concert promoter funded Louisā€™ tour, and probably organised just about everything. The concert promoter sends the money to Louisā€™ agent (whether it be the guarantee or higher due to ticket sales), and they divide that amount to him, his manager (which is usually 15-20% but can differ with how famous the artist is), anyone else involved in contracts for % of touring, and then happy days. The tour is over and everything has been a lot easier than the tour manager(s) having to organise it all by themselves, and risk losing a bunch of money in doing so.
Thanks for the q, anon! Let me know if you need clarification on anything xx

Nurturing the Heart: Understanding the Social and Emotional Well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities
Welcome to my Blog series on PSYCHOLOGY, WELL-BEING, AND RESILIENCE Where I will highlight 5 interesting topics. Read to explore!
In the rich tapestry of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, the essence of well-being lies in the social and emotional interconnectedness. As highlighted by the Commonwealth of Australia in 2017, this delicate balance serves as the cornerstone upon which both physical and mental health are built.
It's important to recognize that the concept of social and emotional well-being transcends individual experiences, encompassing a web of relationships that extend from the individual to the family and community. As noted by Brown et al. (2023), the nuances of well-being vary across Indigenous communities, shaped by diverse cultural perspectives and historical contexts. The notion of social and emotional well-being acknowledges that a person's well-being is also impacted by the social determinants of health. Indigenous Australians define health as the "social, emotional, and cultural well-being of the whole community" in addition to an individual's physical well-being (Fatima et al., 2023, p.31). This definition is based on a person's relationships to their country, culture, family, spirit, and physical and mental health.
Additionally, the National Agreement acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are essential to better life outcomes for Indigenous Australians. All initiatives carried out by the Agreement must uphold, protect, and enhance these cultures. The following goals have been specifically set by the agreement to promote the cultural wellness of Indigenous Australians as shown in Figure 1 below (indigenoushpf.gov.au, 2024).

This particular group is marked with suicides and attempts to death based on different stress in life and stress factors. In the words of Smallwood et al., (2023, p.2088), the Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders had been facing severe issues over time in search of good living and livelihood. Owing to this there had been intervention which was developed for the betterment of indigenous people living in Australia. Figure 2 below shows the rate of suicide attempts which had been caused by the people of this indigenous group (indigenoushpf.gov.au, 2024). Thus, the intervention of the Mental Health Agreement was formulated to secure sustainability and improve the services provided by the Australian mental health and suicide prevention system. It also aimed to improve the mental health of all Australians and governments have come together to establish the Mental Health Agreement (Masotti et al., 2023, p.741).

In addition to responding to the Productivity Commission Inquiry into Mental Health, the National Suicide Prevention Adviser's Final Advice, the Mental Health Agreement pledges to carry out work under the Fifth Plan going forward (indigenoushpf.gov.au, 2024). Regional planning and commissioning, priority populations, stigma reduction, safety and quality, gaps in the system of care and suicide prevention are the main areas of attention. On the other hand, psycho-social supports outside the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), workforce, and national consistency for initial assessment and referral are among the priority areas covered by the Mental Health Agreement.
