Happy Saturday, or “SuperCat Secret Santa Prompt Day’! (to all who celebrate, lolz)

I am eagerly awaiting my e-mail, and hope I didn’t leave my writer too weird of prompts to work with. 🤞

So, in honor of such, and because I have main-lined season 3 of Bridgerton, very much under the guise that Colin and Penelope is subtextually sapphic as fuuuuuuuck, (“She” was Colleen, and ngl, took an episode to clock which one of them were closest to my fav pair of ladies… my brain is an interesting place. Lolz) here is a small moment/ snippet I had come to mind, while on Bridgerton-brain, and biting my tongue hearing my ‘room-mates’ on their insert-name-here-phobic bullshit that is usually tangentially attacking something I stand for…. Here is a tiny little monologue, with no person or scene attached to it… but I really, really resonated with it… so I wish the same for any of you who need it. :)

supergirl secret santa: love leaves a mark and love leaves a strain

I had a really fun time participating in this year’s Supergirl Secret Santa exchange! I haven’t had a chance to dive into the goodies yet, but I can’t wait to. In the meantime, here’s my offering, for the prompt “We knew this wouldn’t be easy.”

Summary: “The anger behind the anger. Post season two, Cat and Kara take one step forward and two steps back.”

Kara’s barely stepped through the elevator when Eve grabs her arm, steering her with surprising force down the hall into Kara’s office.

“You have to do something,” she says without preamble. “It’s been bad all week, but she’s fired three people this morning and I swear I thought she was going to throw her latte at me when I told her Stuart was here for their meeting. She knew it had been rescheduled, I reminded her twice, but -”

“Slow down,” Kara interrupts, shrugging her sweater off and dropping her bag beside her desk. Eve looks near tears, and as Kara runs through a quick triage assessment, making sure that Eve isn’t the next one on the chopping block takes top priority. “Breathe, and don’t cry.” Eve nods quickly, sniffling even as she squares her shoulders and exhales. “Where is she now?”
