Disguised Lovers (Selfshipping Information) -

So I’m currently questioning my sexuality (not the first time and probably not the last) and I’m coming to the conclusion that I’m fictosexual + fictoromantic (maybe semi who knows but I’m at least somewhere along those lines) so I decided to create this little thing of all my f/o’s so far just for the funnies. I will be doing one at the time because knowing the character I decided to do first it’ll be too long to do anymore so when I decide to it I’ll do the others. ~Dawn

Note: I will be placing some headcanons (might add some more over time if I think of any) so if you don’t like it or don’t agree that’s totally fine just don’t be an ass about it. Also if you’re non-sharing with the character I’m writing for and are uncomfortable with it that’s also fine and acceptable. I’m personally sharing for all characters I like (if you have some posts of you’re own then please share I’d love to hear them) and if you’re not comfortable with it then you’re free to not interact with this post/this account in general. Warning this will be long.

- It’s honestly not a surprise that he’s one of my main f/o’s, if you’ve seen my blog he’s the one I’ve mostly done art of the most. I swear every time I listen to The End, specifically the v2 and see the art used for it I just fall more in love with him each time. It’s the way he’s drawn that just does it for me (also the music is an absolute banger and underrated both v1 and v2 of the end) .

Some HC's:

- I headcanon him as bisexual and uses he/it pronouns. I think it’s mostly ship art that helps me with the headcanons and I’ll be honest I mostly steal other users headcanons because if I like it I just accept the headcanon (this goes for pretty much any character not just Costume). Also on the Horrorbrew wiki it says he/it pronouns for him. I’m just using what the wiki says.

- I personally headcanon him to be in his 30’s.

- I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have a canon backstory (correct me if I’m wrong) so I’ve based his off of Mario Bros. Asesino creepypasta. To summarise the creepypasta (basing on what’s on the horrorbrew site) Mike Robertson was a man who gets cheated out of a Nintendo 64 by a host in a live contest, and after being beaten by the event’s guards, turns to murder.

- I’ve already done a post on what I headcanon him to look like underneath the costume so I’ll do some quick bullet points:

- I headcanon him as Spanish due to the Asesino creepypasta origin being Spanish.

- He’s also pretty tan though due to dead skin building up (he hasn’t properly clean himself due to abandoning his home and vacating wherever he can.) it’s pretty much became grey-ish.

- He has a chubby body. Also his body is pretty much destroyed he’s got scars from when his victims had the chance to fight back, bruises due to the same reason, crooked nose, really bad eyebags etc.

- Fucking sticks. Smells like a combination of burnt gas, sweat and blood. Oddly enough, those scents are comforting for me. The burnt gas at least I’m not entirely sure about sweat and blood though. Don’t ask, I just like the smell of burnt gas. - He tends to pick at his skin a lot even to the point of bleeding. I mostly think he just unconsciously does it and not because he’s anxious. Maybe once in a while sure but most of the time he’s completely unaware that he does it. - He’s got a really bad sleeping schedule. Assuming he sleeps at all. He’s pulled multiple all-nighters mostly because he has to keep himself aware of anyone who might go after him. Even when he does sleep it’s not a lot. He’s done so many all nighters that his body just conditioned himself to stay awake. - Costume is a very quiet person. Not just in speech but in everything in general. Even his footsteps are quiet. Like one moment he’s in one area then before you know it he’s gone. You don’t even hear him exit, it's just he’s here then he’s gone. (A little self projection because I’ve been told I do the same. Some people even joked about getting me to wear a bell so they know when I'm coming. lol.) - He’s got terrible anger issues. He likes to think he can control them but he can’t. Most of the time. Things like humiliation definitely make it worse. - He constantly looks either pissed off, tired or both. - He’s not really into gaming however the only thing that he does like to play is Mario. He’s incredibly obsessed with him. He likes it that much that he’s willing to kill for it and he has.

For How Him And Dawn (My Sona) Met:

- Admittedly when him and Dawn first met it didn’t start off good. He of course tried to murder her. Surprisingly though Dawn managed to escape which just pissed him off even more. He never let someone escape before the best he got was some fighting back but escaping?

- It definitely took him a while for him to actually get used to Dawn. Because every time she tried to visit him it just resulted to violence because Costume would insist on her dying. But Dawn was too stubborn and was actually interested in Costume despite almost getting murder each time they met.

- Obviously if you’ve seen posts about my sona then you’d know that I’ve made her an alien. This is where I mostly based the previous point from. Due to lack of human knowledge in space Dawn doesn’t know that much about humans. She does know some but it’s pretty much the average stuff that people should know. So when she met Costume she was immediately intrigued by him. Honestly, she finds him really cool she doesn’t care that he’s murdered people.

- The only reason that he even started tolerating Dawn was because of the constant visits she made for him which admittedly confused him in a way. The fact that someone willingly wanted to see him despite what he does surprises him. At some point the thought of murder just died down at least towards Dawn, he actually started getting used to it and started expecting Dawn to just pop wherever he was and when she didn’t become slightly concerned though he wouldn’t admit to it.

Some Scenarios About Costume + Dawn:

- I like to think that at first Costume didn’t know that Dawn was an alien but he did quickly figure it out after Dawn offhandedly said something that caused Costume to go “...wait, is she even human?” which then turns to him questioning them about it. I don’t think he’d be necessarily afraid or anything. I mean considering the man murders people he definitely wouldn’t be. Though he’d be a little weary he doesn’t really go into things like do aliens exist or conspiracy theories in general so the fact that someone who claims to be one is just making him suspicious of them. But he starts questioning less and less as he starts actually looking at their ‘human’ form. If you could even call it human. I mean no human would have green splotches on their body, pointy ears etc. like sure you can call it off as a medical/skin condition but green? Also you could play off the webbed fingers and toes as a condition as well though rare it is possible. He also started questioning less when he actually had the chance to see Dawn’s true form and just accepted that aliens do actually exist.

- Due to Costume not exactly having a set place to live ever since the murders he committed however long ago he’s just been going from places to places. Either abandoned places or forests. Due to this it caused him to enjoy having a late night walk. Just the thought of not getting bothered as he has the chance to relax is very soothing to him. Sometimes though he likes to bring Dawn along with them. At this point Costume and Dawn had the chance to actually get to know each other. He knows that she doesn’t really have the full knowledge of humans so when he feels like it he tells her little things about earth which just causes Dawn to get starry eyed. Just seeing her starry eyed makes Costume happy deep down which surprises him.

- Adding on to the previous point he’s the same when it comes to Mario related things. When Dawn hears about super mario from someone else and hearing how popular it is she immediately goes to Costume to ask him about it not knowing she’s about to unleash a storm of blabbering coming from Costume. As said in the hc’s part he’s obsessed about Mario he practically knows everything about but he hasn’t really had the chance to express it considering how it ended last time so when he heard that Dawn wanted to learn about it caused him to freeze up yet had this excited feeling about it. At first he asked her if she was sure and as she said yes then it was just blank. He doesn’t even remember. Though I think that Costume and Dawn’s dynamics is basically listener x talker with him being the listener and her being the talker but if you ask Costume something and it’s a part of a topic he likes and you let him he will talk his head off. Dawn actually finds really cute, especially coming from him, who's an extremely keep to himself kind of guy.

- The dynamics of Costume and Dawn besides listener x talker are basically:

- Enemies To Lovers

- Grump And Sunshine

- Opposites Attracts

- Slow Burn

- Etc (I’ll add more if I think of anymore)

- Dawn definitely teases and flirts the fuck out of Costume. But she plays it off as she doesn’t know about the meaning of it towards humans. Well at first it was true but after learning about it she knows damn well the effects it does towards Costume and he hates it. It’s making him feel weird things and he doesn’t like it or at least he claims he does. He’s not used to it, he’s not used to compliments so the fact that he’s getting them from Dawn of all people is just making his heart do flips. Hearing things like ‘You’re pretty’ or comments similar to that feels like his heart is being stabbed but in a good way? Is there a good way? Regardless he’s getting feelings and he ‘doesn’t do them’.

- Adding on she also likes to joke with him. He claims that he ‘has a reputation’ but then just goes soft every time Dawn talks to him. If she hears him say that she likes to clap back “what reputation?” Which honestly surprises him and leaves him speechless but it only makes Dawn laugh seeing his reaction.

- For my own enjoyment he’s definitely a jealous person. Relationships or not he’s definitely a possessive person. Like sure Dawn’s an alien but that doesn’t matter he’s still possessive. He doesn’t necessarily understand himself but his rational self disappears as soon as he gets jealous.

- He doesn’t really like to show himself outside of his costume or reveal anything about himself to anyone. Hell he doesn’t even reveal himself wearing the costume unless he has to and even then no one has seen them considering their dead. So it’s a miracle the Dawn has. I'd like to think he only reveals his true self to people he truly trusts and even then it’s a long process. Dawn was definitely when he did eventually reveal his true self and it just made her more interested in him.

Spies in disguise, weirdly wholesome (Spoilers)

This movie was so freaking weird. I thought Blue Sky Studios was so dead, the only movie I´ve seen from them was Ice Age and Robots, and Ice Age went downhill after the 3rd movie. But this??? This could be their revival.

Sinopsis: 

Lance Sterling is one of the best spies in the agency. He loves his job and does it really well but when a bad guy starts harming different people across the world using his face, Sterling has to clear up his name in any way possible with the help of a young scientist called Walter Beckett. Problem is, though, the same scientist tried a very complex experiment on him by accident which result on him turning into something everybody hates: a pigeon. 

Animation: 

I´m sure Blue Sky has made more animated movies than just Ice Age, but being completely honest I literally only knew that one. I loved that movie, I also like Robots, but the rest they´ve made aren´t as striking to me. 

As an animation studio they know what they are doing, it is really good. The details in the water and rocks, all the backgrounds? They all look awesome!

It´s no Klaus though. In comparison to other movies, this is pretty much blends with the rest of the CGI movies there exist. Ice Age and Robots had a very distinctive style, but this one? This looks like something Pixar would do (they kind of went a bit downhill, Toy Story 4 was not needed and The Incredibles 2 felt off and incomplete, animation was fine, writing meh. I hope Onward and Soul are better. Fingers crossed.) I also thought Dreamworks made it. It´s not very... original as in the style of the animation. 

The lighting was cool as hell!! The first scene in Japan WAS SO FREAKING AWESOME. It had amazing highlights and it was perfect blend in the atmosphere. The darks werent so obscure you couldnt see anything and when a certain light hit the character it was a great contrast. 

The design of the characters were really great, the background characters looked kind of the same though. It was like the main characters were anime protagonists in this case, not only because of the design but because they use more striking and hotter colors in them while the background characters had really opaque palettes. 

Story and Characters: 

So.. Disclaimer: Spy movies taken seriously is not my thing. I HATE Mission Imposible. I HATE JAMES BOND 1, 2, 3, INIFINITE WHATEVER. I hate them, they are boring and the main characters are worst than Superman (Who, by the way, I also HATE. not the animated one, just the live action one. LIKE BATMAN I HA-). That´s because they portray them as all mighty, powerful, type of card of all traits. Making them too useful and too able makes it boring and it makes you question Why do they even have a freaking team with them?

In this case you have the all mighty, hella cool and able Lance Sterling. He works alone, he is able to do everything and anything, right? Well, at least he is charismatic and such. Of course you have to add something to him so he isn´t just a cocky super human spy. What do you do? GIVE. HIM. AN. OBSTACLE. AND. MAKE. IT. HILARIOUS. Thank god this is comedy. 

It was a really weird premise for the super spy to become a pigeon. From all animals, a Pigeon? Uh... Yeah, sure? This director and writer do know how to make this shit work. And BOI was this really interesting. 

So it goes like this: Sterling goes against a bad guy who isn´t even the main bad guyTM. He does his cool fighting montage during which POOF, GLITTER! Glitter..? Da fuq? And he rolls with it because if he doesn´t he COULD DIE. (I know there´s the flashback montage for Walter at the beginning but bare with me). He gets the briefcase, which had a very dangerous and powerful machine which in spanish is called LITERALLY ASESINO (MURDERER) , LA-DI-DA-DI-DA he goes back to the agency and... The briefcase is empty and some agent comes all of the sudden and has some recording where it is shown HE stole it and killed some guys in Japan with it.

But he escaped, relax. 

Now, previously he had fired Walter because he got into Sterling´s things and put the glitter bomb, which actually did his purpose: distract and make everyone happy. 

Walter is actually a curious character to me. He has good intentions, he just wants to make a safer world and all his inventions in comparison to the rest are to minimize damage and to protect not only the spies but also the villains. Now days we have characters who are mostly all in favor to not kill, because killing is wrong. It´s not a new thing, its a pretty old concept, but it is mostly seen in TV shows (at least from the movies I´ve seen, even if the hero doesn´t want to kill, the villain still ends up dead somehow). From all the movies I´ve seen, there were several that didn´t killed the villain but... I didn´t like them at all because the villain didnt even made sense (IM LOOKING AT YOU FROZEN 1 AND THE INCREDIBLES 2, FUCKING WASTE OF MONEY AND VILLAINS, SO HELP ME GO-) 

I dont know why Walter stick to me so much more than any other characters in other movies. His motivations were always for the greater good even as a kid. The biggest inspiration in his life was and is his mother, and I think because of her dead that motivation became even stronger. His whole personality and genuine care into his work to help others leaks in everything he does. It´s in your face, ALL THE TIME, but in a good way? It isnt at the point of being annoying, it´s weird how they manage to make such a nice character with certain points that are quirky without making him annoying. 

Ok, back to the story without spoiling much and going to the point, they both start working out how Sterling as a pigeon can do his spy work and Walter works on an antidote while also helping Sterling with the spy work. Question: Is it original? I dont know. Does it matter? No. 

Look, the concept of a character turning into something is not really original and as spy movies we all KNOW in all 9 levels of Mictlan that Spy theme movies are not original at all. Spy Kids? That was slightly more original than any other spy movie I ever seen AND I LOVED IT. The important manner here is and will always be the characters which... Well... Will Smith acted as Will Smith, or well.. I watch in spanish... wait... 

Ok, I already knew Mario Filio was the official Will Smith voice Actor... 

HOLY SHIT, EMILIO TREVIÑO IS MILES MORALES TOO?!?!? 

Where was I...? Ah, yeah. 

As a plot, it had pretty much a lot of dark themes and several heavy spots. For example: The talk between Will- I MEAN Sterling and Walter in the boat, where they talk about how to fight the villain we saw a bit more of them. We already knew the motivation for Walter, but Sterling? The cocky cock has feelings? WHO WOULD´VE KNOWN! He really doesnt want people to get killed and it gets to him, because that form limits him a lot. Walter is so stress too, they both want the best for the people and they argue but in a manner that makes it a bit heavy. Walter is still young and too dreamy, Sterling has worked in the battle field, he tells Walter  you have to fight fire with fire and doing it Walter´s way is not gonna work because bad people doesnt care about the good people. Walter replies that there are no good or bad, only people. (UM... I HAVE A BIT OF A PROBLEM WITH THAT?? But I will discuss it later.) 

There some scenes i did not expect to get emotional and it quickly returns to comedy but not as awkwardly as I would thought. It´s a fun movie, if it wants too it gets a tad heavy and if it wants to it becomes extremely dumb. It´s a weird blend, the concept is super dumb but the plot and the characters teaches you certain things like: People still get hurt even if you acted with the best intentions. Sometimes to solve a problem you need to think in another way. Kindness is a powerful weapon. And most importantly: Weird is good. 

Conclusion: 

So... It was a really fun movie. Weirdly wholesome, weirdly good! Pretty good actually, it didn´t get me much as other movies but it did stick to me. It has good animation, the characters are enjoyable and charismatic, the super good boi is Walter MY GOD, HE DESERVES THAT JOB HE GOT. Sterling is a good pal once he sees the value in Walter. That part with the egg was strange but Walter made it have sense and they both rolled with it and it was pretty cool.

Now, the messages are good. I understand people are people and such. You shouldnt kill because its wrong. I mean, the villain DID kind of had second thoughts after Walter saved him from falling after turning the droid off, which was SO COOL TO HAVE KILLIAN LOOK LIKE THAT. He didn´t had to say shit, just that look of ¨Huh... That kid did save me even after I tried to kill him...¨ Yes, give me more shown not tell. THIS MOVIE HAD A LOT OF SHOW NO TELL, THANK YOU. 

Still, bad people not always want to change. Some bad people stay bad, and sometimes we will have to fight back. We had movies like The Incredibles 2 or Steven Universe: The Movie shown what should we do and what happens to the villains. They had a backstory, they had their motives, as heartbreaking their backstories were what they did was wrong and at least one of them in those examples were punished for their wrongdoing. Steven in the movie fought back instead of getting himself hurt. 

In this movie, the villain was kind of kept a mystery, his backstory wasn´t a flashback or anything, it was told by the character but I think that was a good thing because the pain in his eyes and the anger he felt leaked from his explanation to Sterling. Even when he was explicitly a bad guy from the beginning, before even the movie started, we can see that those bad guys, in fact, are people too, and as the good people they can get hurt too because they have families, friends, pets, interests, hobbies and more. Walter does have a point, they are just people so we shouldn´t kill them. I guess the problem I have with the saying ¨There´s no good or bad, just people¨ is that the people who do bad things, people like Killian, they hurt and murder so many people and I am not fine with those kind of people. I say Eye for an eye, but then again ¨Eye for an Eye and everyone gets blind¨. 

I dont know why or how they manage to get somehow complex in movie where a person LITERALLY TURNS INTO A FEMALE PIGEON. Oh, yeah, by the way. Sterling becomes a female pigeon because Walter uses a feather of his female pet pigeon. 

I had low expectations and came out impressed and howling with laughter even after getting home. I do recommend this movie for his whole ridiculousness and for his weird but wholesome character development, bonding, different characters and final message. 

Weird is good and we need weird to make the world a better, safer place.

Tiene 3 Juegos Incorporados

Ha sido una semana muy ocupada para el hardware de juegos para videoconsolas. Esta semana vio el debut de 2 plataformas de próxima generación, con el lanzamiento de los dispositivos PS cinco y Xbox Series X y Series S de Microsoft. Cada plataforma se basa en nuevos avances como el trazado de rayos y los SSD de carga veloz. Mientras, hoy, Nintendo lanza ... un reloj que juega a Super Mario Bros. Puede parecer un instante extraño, pero también está de manera perfecta en consonancia con la historia de Nintendo: esta es una empresa que prácticamente siempre y en toda circunstancia sigue su propio camino. El nuevo Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. es una pieza de hardware extraordinariamente linda. Está inspirado en la tradicional computadora de mano Game & Watch, la precursora de Game Boy, con una combinación de colores inspirada en la consola Famicom japonesa original. En términos de funcionalidad, el dispositivo es impresionantemente sencillo. Tiene 3 juegos incorporados, sobre todo el primer juego SMB. También está Super Mario Bros.2, más conocido en Occidente como The Lost Levels, una secuela realmente desalmada que remezcla el primer juego con peculiaridades tortuosas como hongos asesinos. Completando la alineación está Ball, una versión simple mas sorprendentemente divertida del juego de malabarismo LCD de 1980, esta vez protagonizado por Mario. Los juegos son todos puertos sólidos y la pantalla es agradable y brillante, mientras que la computadora de mano tiene un genial D-pad. Me he encontrado tomando el juego y el reloj regularmente para descabullirme en un nivel o bien 2 cada vez que tengo unos minutos libres. La carencia de ornamentos es prácticamente agradable: verdaderamente puedo concentrarme en jugar el juego. Aun tiene estados de guardado, por lo que puede detener el juego y volver al mismo sitio cuando lo desee. Fuera de los juegos, la función principal de Game & Watch es, bueno, como reloj. Uno de los botones frontales afirma sencillamente "tiempo", y presionarlo traerá de vuelta un reloj con el tema de Super Mario con el plomero corriendo y saltando por los lugares clásicos del Reino Champiñón. La hora del día en el juego incluso cambia así como el planeta real. Si soy sincero, el dispositivo es puramente una novedad. Hay formas mejores y más simples de jugar a Super Mario Bros. y preguntar la hora. Pero Game & Watch tiene la combinación perfecta de nostalgia y funcionalidad a fin de que valga la pena echarle un vistazo. Ciertamente no lo necesito, pero lo quiero. Es similar a la línea de consolas en miniatura de Nintendo, que comenzó una tendencia sorprendentemente prolongada tras el lanzamiento de la NES Classic en 2016. Acá está la cosa: solo Nintendo lanzaría una computadora de mano novedosa y kitsch exactamente la misma semana en que sus mayores competidores lanzan ambiciosas consolas domésticas. La situación es indicativa de Nintendo en conjunto. Al paso que Sony y Microsoft están enfocados en maniobrar entre sí, Nintendo está en su planeta, divorciado de preocupaciones como las velocidades de cuadro o el audio 3D o los gráficos 4K. Esto no siempre es bueno. A menudo, la naturaleza resuelta de Nintendo conduce a fracasos rotundos, como la Wii O bien que se adelantó a su tiempo. Mas ahora, el enfoque distintivo de la compañía es claramente positivo. Ayer mismo, Nintendo descubrió que Switch ha sido la consola más vendida en los EE. UU. Durante veintitres meses sucesivos, y que sus ventas globales de por vida pronto eclipsarán a la Nintendo 3DS. Mientras, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, que solo se lanzó en el tercer mes del año del actual año, ya es el segundo juego más vendido de Switch, con más de 26 millones de copias. No está claro cuánto durará este impulso. Tal vez cualquier día Nintendo por último lance un Switch 4K, como se rumoreaba desde hace mucho tiempo. No obstante, por ahora, la filosofía actual de la compañía, que una tableta de poca potencia con grandes juegos es la mejor experiencia para la mayoría de las personas, está marchando. Y semeja que ninguna cantidad de consolas intimidantes de próxima generación cambiará eso.

Jaime Arenas Reyes, gran Inteligencia, Liderazgo e Intelectualidad, se arrepintió de estar en el ELN, escribió su Libro “ELN, la Guerrilla por dentro” y fue asesinado por sus Compañeros. 

En Colombia hay Super Genios, mil veces más Inteligentes que Albert Einstein, están en el Gobierno, el Congresos y el Sinfón de Haraganes llamados Magistrados de Infinitas Cortes Inútiles y Comunistoides. Todos estos Vagos quieren meter al ELN al Congreso en la misma forma que metieron a los Secuestradores Asesinos violadores de Niños y Niñas ( de ambos Sexos ) al Parlamento. Sin ninguna Elección y a puro Dedazo limpio de Juan Manuel Santos. Saben qué ??? .... Muchos de estos Vagos lo que quieren es robar y tiranizar como el mismo Santos que pisoteó Constitución, Leyes y Costumbres Democráticas que nos dejó Francisco de Paula Santander, alumno aplicado de Thomas Jefferson y James Madison.

La Fundación del ELN por Fidel y Raul Castro :

Según el activista y exguerrillero del ELN; Jaime Arenas Reyes, entrevistado por Germán Castro Caycedo, Fabio nació de una familia campesina humilde de Calarcá (Quindío); cursó hasta cuarto año y logró a través de su hermano Manuel en ese entonces era dirigente del JMRL (Juventudes del Movimiento Revolucionario Liberal) obtener una beca para viajar a Cuba con el objetivo de realizar estudios universitarios. Jaime Arenas lo describió como un hombre inteligente, poco instruido, de gran "malicia indígena", que prefería defender sus argumentos con balas en lugar de dar argumentos y que no dudaba en hacer fusilar a sus propios amigos cuando existían diferencias ideológicas.

Fabio Vásquez Castaño, Campesino muy ignorante y asesino, comisionado por Fidel Castro para fundar el ELN. Murió en Cuba en 2019 a la edad de 79 Años.

 En 1962, época de huelgas petroleras, 60 estudiantes son becados por el gobierno cubano para estudiar economía (pertenecían a la JUCO, MOEC y JMRL ) y once de ellos formaron en Cuba la “Brigada Pro Liberación José Antonio Galán”, pero culminan sólo siete, entre ellos Fabio Vázquez Castaño (designado líder), Víctor Medina Morón, Ricardo Lara Parada, Heriberto Espitia, Luis Rovira, José Merchán y Mario Hernández. Las Juventudes del Movimiento Revolucionario Liberal (JMRL) son fundadas por jóvenes castristas afines al Movimiento Revolucionario Liberal de Alfonso López Michelsen.

Es bien sabido el destino fatal de muchos de los estudiantes e intelectuales en los primeros años de lucha del ELN. Lo paradójico es que algunos de ellos fueron fusilados por sus propios compañeros de lucha, luego de unos consejos verbales de guerra en los que predominó la desconfianza en el interior de las filas hacia los jóvenes citadinos y las disputas por el mando en la organización.

 Este fue el caso de Víctor Medina y Julio César Cortés, entre otros. En el fondo de esta situación se puede inferir una profunda contradicción entre el mundo rural y urbano en un país que se estaba modernizando a marchas forzadas. También emergió con fuerza una tradición guerrerista y campesina que puede remontarse incluso hasta las guerras civiles del siglo XIX, pero que con certeza hundía sus raíces en la reciente violencia partidista en la que el poder de las armas se anteponía a cualquier "devaneo" intelectual de unos muchachos que no conocían la cruda realidad. El mismo Arenas recordaba cómo este contraste entre la ciudad y el campo puso en desventaja a los noveles guerrilleros:

La adaptación del estudiante a la vida del monte es generalmente lenta, difícil, penosa. Es necesario comenzar por saberse defender en la selva. Acostumbrarse a caminar en ella es una de las cosas más demoradas, porque se trata de aprender a descargar el pie al caminar, saberlo afirmar para bajar precipicios o escalar pendientes altas. En una palabra, la lucha inicial es por conseguir una buena agilidad del cuerpo, lo que para el hombre de la ciudad no es fácil […] En la montaña se lee poco, pues el interés por los libros es escaso dentro de la mayoría del personal: campesinos que han aprendido a leer y escribir en las filas y lo hacen con mucha dificultad. La guerrilla es fundamentalmente campesina; el número de estudiantes es bastante escaso en ella. En la actualidad, con Fabio Vásquez Castaño hay solamente cuatro estudiantes -bueno, hasta cuando me vine, en febrero-34.

En el caso del ELN, el estrecho vínculo entre política y militancia religiosa, en el marco de los cambios que experimentó la Iglesia Católica en los años del Concilio Vaticano II y la Conferencia Episcopal Latinoamericana de Medellín, explica en parte la vinculación de varios religiosos a la lucha guerrillera. Además de los renombrados casos de los sacerdotes españoles Manuel Pérez Martínez, Domingo Laín Sáenz y José Antonio Jiménez, es necesario evocar el caso de Leonor Esguerra, religiosa y rectora del famoso Colegio Marymount, quien llegó a militar en el ELN. La concepción de la lucha por los pobres de la tierra y la misma idea de sacrificio total por el pueblo que dominó el pensamiento de los religiosos militantes, fue compartida por los estudiantes de esta generación.

¿Qué pensaban los estudiantes que decidieron irse un día para el monte a luchar por una utopía en la que algunos de ellos perecieron por las balas, incluso de sus propios compañeros de armas? Una posible respuesta se puede encontrar en las palabras del mismo Arenas cuando se refirió al tema en las cartas de despedida que le dejó a sus familiares, esposa e hijas:

No me despedí de ella por falta de tiempo y porque consideraba muy duro el adiós. No quería llevarme un recuerdo triste para la guerrilla. A ella y a mis padres que estaban en Medellín, les envié cartas similares: la necesidad de la lucha hace que deba irme a las montañas, pues en la ciudad me resulta muy difícil ya hacer algún papel positivo a favor de la revolución. No se preocupen por mí. He tomado la determinación conscientemente. Si muero será por un ideal que es el mismo que ha guiado toda mi vida […] Es para mí tremendo causarles este dolor, pero las ideas son más fuertes que los sentimientos.

Releyendo ‘La guerrilla por dentro’ para escribir estas líneas, me transporté a ese pasado tan lleno de ilusiones, sacrificios y entusiasmos. He recordado en especial a Jaime. La fuerza de su voz, la claridad de sus argumentos; su carismática y atractiva personalidad, su estatura imponente. Era un líder natural, que siempre asocio con Luis Carlos Galán, con quien terminó de amigo. Santandereano como él, e igualmente vertical y frentero. Y ambos asesinados en la flor de la vida por sus ideas. El uno, por la “justicia revolucionaria” de una guerrilla fanatizada. El otro, por la sed vengativa de una mafia narcotraficante.

No encuentro, en fin, mejores palabras para concluir este prólogo que las que en esos días consignó en su columna en EL TIEMPO Gonzalo Arango: “Escribió con sangre un libro valiente, con la sangre que luego derramó. Tiró la piedra y no escondió la mano. Eso se llama honradez y coraje. Ese libro fue su condena, el cuerpo del delito. Aun así, vale la pena escribir un libro por el cual se muere. (…) A Jaime lo mató el estalinismo en la revolución. Fue la venganza del matón contra el intelectual, de la estupidez contra la lucidez”.

El ELN en Wikipedia

En julio de 1967, el ELN realiza una reunión extraordinaria en la que destituye a Víctor Medina Morón de su comando por entrar en contradicciones con el resto de comandantes. Medina era segundo al mando del ELN y fue antes de entrar al ELN, secretario del partido comunista en el departamento de Santander. El 16 de enero de 1968, Juan de Dios Aguilera, comandante de la guerrilla, asesinó a José Ayala, miembro del grupo subversivo, e incriminó a Víctor Medina Morón, Julio César Cortés y Heliodoro Ochoa, en un supuesto intento por tomarse a la fuerza la comandancia de la organización por diferencias ideológicas; los tres últimos fueron ejecutados por traición el 22 de marzo de 1968.

Otro caso afectó a Jaime Arenas Reyes, líder estudiantil de los sesenta en la Universidad Industrial de Santander, cabeza de una de las marchas estudiantiles históricas de Colombia en 1964 y en la que participaron más de 500 mil ciudadanos en Bogotá. Arenas entró en contradicción con Fabio Vásquez Castaño y otros líderes del ELN, al ser una persona que defendía el diálogo y la razón, en vez de la fuerza. Arenas abandonó la guerrilla el 17 de febrero de 1969.20? Al poco tiempo de escribir su libro "La guerrilla por dentro" en 1971, fue asesinado por sus ex compañeros en una calle del centro de Bogotá siendo considerado por su libro un traidor y delator al servicio de las autoridades colombianas.21? En 1969, ingresan a las filas subversivas los sacerdotes españoles Manuel Pérez Martínez, José Antonio Jiménez Comín y Domingo Laín, quienes ingresaron de manera ilegal al país. El 17 de diciembre de 1969, termina un Consejo de Guerra en Bogotá, el Estado colombiano juzgó a cerca de 215 personas sindicadas de pertenecer al ELN, condenandolos.
