Hallo hallo guysss! Wanted to make something on one of the coaches for a change!! Hope you enjoyed reading this! (Edit: I forgot to tag you here @irlnorthshaw hope you liked this!!)
Sheikh Ali Zaman headcanons
Tumblr media
mid 40s - early 50s
treats his players as if they were his sons. Zoom zahir being his "eldest son"
Not married (but I like the headcanon of him having kids or niblings)
Favourite food: Warak enab (stuffed grape leaves)
Least favourite: none (loves food and doesn't really have dislikes towards a particular dish, he just makes sure to eat in proper portions)
Loves little kids
Once sheikh found a lost girl at his hotel and he spend the rest 30 minutes holding the little one in his arms while looking at security footage and making calls for her parents. The little girl just ate candy on his lap while the security scattered around looking for her guardians.
Hobbies include: watching news/ reading the news, and watching beautiful artworks
He looks like he is obsessed with sculptures and fancy pots and vases
Also likes Beautifully embroidered suits
Enjoys making tea
Drinks Masala Chai every morning with toast
Throws the most lavish parties on his yacht.
With his sons players aways present
Calm and mature (vince and the rest need to learn from him)
plays dirty but isn't afraid to except that he lost and will have Shakes/ supa strikas know that he respects them as opponents
Owns multiple giant properties
a flying plane palace thing, a skyscraping hotel, the dome shaped football field, I qoudnt be surprised if the next thing he bought was a titanic-like yacht with an aquarium in it.
he is very proud of his boys and their success
Probably one of the nicest Coach (apart from coach belmont)

I made more- (but with underrated players/coaches)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BONUS:
Tumblr media
CREDIT:
Coach Black's dialogue "believe the stars hold the answers to victory on the pitch" is actually from a Fun Fact Post about him in the comics. @strika-archyvez is the one shared this fact. (THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICES @strika-archyvez !! 🙏✨✨) Please do CHECKOUT the original post of Coach Black HERE! :D
P/S:
If you're curious with these facts:
‘ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ’ is actually a greeting that is used by the Muslim Community (and other communities in the middle east), which translates to “Peace be upon you”. I think it'll be fitting since both Sheikh and Zahir are canonically Muslim. :) (If I'm not mistaken-)
What Meda said: ‘.. / ... .-- . .- .-. --..-- / .. .----. -- / -. --- - / .- -. / .- .-.. .. . -. -.-.--’, in Morse Code is: “I swear, I'm not an Alien!” haha-

I just KNOWWWW Zoom Zahir and the other Sultan players were holding their laughter inside- And Zahir was thinking like, "YOU FOOLS!! Altivo used your ego and stupidity to take advantage and humiliate you... And she got you RIGHT AT HER FINGER TIPS."
Also, YES. Sultans FC players don't need to participate in a flashy competition to win a GRAND PRIZE. They're already RICH ENOUGH to buy one themselves- Also I sorta Headcanon the Sultan Players don't do, or say dislike flashy competition that isn't football related. They think they're a waste of time. (Unless your Sheikh, which LOVE FLASHY COMPETITIONS AND PARTIES. So in my mind, if Sheikh makes some GRAND COMPETITION/PARTY (like he did in "Dribbler on the Roof S3E10"), Sultan Players have NO CHOICE but to obey their Coach and attend-)
Tumblr media
dont ask me why im watching "your latest trick" again BUT LOOK!!! ITS ZOOM!!! YO THE SULTANS ACTUALLY SHOWED UP TO THIS 😭😭 aint no way, i bet they were laughing at these bozos from their table. truly, do they need to win a video competition for the staliano?

I think it'd be funny to see an episode where Sultans and Iron Tank face off. Sultans freeze to death in the Fortress, Iron Tank all pass the hell out in the Goliath, lose-lose scenario I just want to see them all suffer

Thoughts on Game Over??
Asking the hard hitting questions here, haha. I'll put my thoughts under a Read More because I feel this is going to get long. I have a lot of thoughts on the episodes, as much as anyone else does in the fandom.
But, in my honest opinion, the episode itself was okay. Not bad, but not great either.
TL;DR: I don't think "Game Over" is the worst episode of the series, but how it was executed is quite mixed. Especially considering the information from Rookie Season, I am not surprised at Shakes having this kind of dream to explain his burnout, but the decisions made in that dream needed to be explained more as most of it was definitely out of character for him, but I have my own assumptions as to why he did do it in the dream. 7/10 for me.
I like the concept of the episode, and I like it tried to explore the topic of burnout. Everyone hits that at some point, and everyone gets over it at some point. I, myself, believe that there doesn't seem to be a lot of media that focuses on burnout in sports teams, whether it be the players themselves or the coaches. I will say I am a bit biased towards the idea of Shakes getting burned out as I myself feel like I am in a strange burn out ever since I got a different job during the pandemic.
Be it the comics or Rookie Season, Shakes has always been put on some sort of pedestal. Graduated highschool at the age of 16 (RS), expected to wear his father's number when he first joined Supa Strikas because his dad was an amazing player for the team (The old comics, which of course got retconned in the TV series). He is the best striker on the team, the most helpful, very kind and caring, the fans always want to see him, is on par with El Matador for goals, gets lots of awards, so on and so forth.
To me, Shakes definitely has tones of gifted kid syndrome. Screw it, he is one, especially when it comes to sports and athleticism. Aside from his love of history and always wanting to learn about, it's no surprise when everything sports comes naturally to him. Most of the time anyways (Sepak Attack; definitely knew some of the moves but not the ones exclusive to the sport). No one can deny he's got that spirit, the soul of football inside him and in his blood.
But putting that to the side first, especially the lore we learned from Rookie Season, I will agree that the execution of the burnout is still a mixed bag. While the positive of this is that it explores a topic that is related to mental health and in a sports environment of all things, the build up to the burnout and the dream itself is pretty nonexistent. We just see Shakes play terribly against Technicali and we hear Mac and Brenda comment on his poor performance of the season. But the episodes before this shows Shakes excelling as he usually does.
Now I know the episodes in any Supa Strikas season don't need to be watched in any order, except having the Super League final game always be the last episode, but I really think they could have sown those seeds of doubts in Shakes before the episode finale. Either show him be annoyed that The Sheikh is up to his no good tricks again (Weather Or Not), or have him verbally tell Rasta that he feels like he's hitting some sort of mental block (Training Daze), or literally have him roll his eyes and go "Here we go again..." in any episode that features a repeat team doing some sort of shenanigan to halt Supa Strikas's plans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Picture break so it's not a whole paragraph of words, but also to show what Shakes could probably be feeling every time something happens)
He literally is also the guy on the team to do most of the investigating when he thinks something is up, and most of the time no one else thinks to join him or even offer up some help. The team alludes to this in "Food For Thought" when they're using the voice app to say the most common phrases Shakes would say if he was there. Now, it's not all the time he does everything on his own. "Cheese, Lies, and Videotape" have him, El Matador, and Klaus working together to escape the sewers, Shakes and North escape Iron Tank after finding out what they were investigating in "Icy Grip", and the team themselves have backed up Shakes numerous times ("Bringing Down The House", "Total Replay", "Broken Record").
The paragraph above is mostly what I think and what I assume, but since Shakes is technically the main character of the series, I just find that when all options come down to him finding out what's going on, it does get stale. Why not have another character do the investigation or choose to do it? I'm just thinking of this now but–when the other guys get in trouble, it's always Shakes bailing them out. Not all the time, but it's always him bailing them out of trouble.
All of this to say, if we don't include what we got from Rookie Season and only focused on the main seasons, everything that happens to Shakes, or what he chooses to do, can really take a heavy toll on someone. Especially on Shakes since he seems to be the youngest one on the team. Even before it was confirmed in Rookie Season, he really did act as the newest and youngest member of the team; a lot of this pressure on one person to be the "best of the best" can't be dealt with alone.
We have seen before how the pressure from his team or the fans affects him. "Broken Record" is a peak example of that, but I would also argue that "End of Dreams" showed this as well. Even though I don't think Coach eventually told Shakes that the results he got from being in that test machine was a result of a malfunction, Shakes basically felt left out that he wasn't doing a training program at the same intensity of his other teammates. So I believe he put that pressure on himself to find out his results, and basically ignored the warnings from Coach.
Side tangent in regards to the paragraph above, but I do like it does show a bit of Shakes's ego basically telling him to go find out what's in the briefcase. Same thing happened in "Your Latest Trick" where the pressure from the others at Rasta's house, Skarra's trick video, and essentially everyone in the whole wide world seeing the video, made him make the decisions to join the competition when he previously didn't want to. And then as it progressed into the match, his ego got the better of him until his team reeled him back in. Don't always get to see that a lot from him.
But getting back to the topic, Shakes having a burnout from the thing he loves doing, the one thing he's revolved his whole life around, that was probably heartbreaking for him to come to that realization. While it does happen in the dream, I will agree with the majority that the whole dream itself trying to describe the burnout was done poorly. But I also can kind of understand the end of the dream itself.
I am definitely not commending Shakes for blocking his whole team and his friends, especially one from his childhood. When you come to the realization that you are burnt out, you NEED a support system or you will never get out of it. But I can understand the thought process of him doing this, especially if he is in a vulnerable and emotional state. We KNOW the dream was just a dream, but if Shakes was dealing with trying to find a reason to keep playing, then he was probably thinking that his teammates wouldn't understand because they were so enthusiastic about why they play football. He was already trying to find someone else to blame in his dream, somehow coming up with a genderbent version of Toni Vern of all things, but he already knew that the problem originated with him. His brain literally created Special Agent John Hack-it to tell him that "No, you are burnt out. Stop blaming others and start looking to why you're in this state."
Except I believe a selfish part of him tells his brain, "Just take a break and go do something else related to football. Better yet, just give up and start over, just like what you would do in your video games :)" When I really think it should have been, "Maybe take a break from football and do a little bit of soul searching. Stay connected with your peers and family, they could give a different perspective on the situation you are going through. Your team really did want to look out for you, but you should tell them why you felt that you didn't think they did." Instead of him walking down the sandy beach and blocking everyone close to him to start over.
I MEAN, seeing Shakes NOT doing football is weird since that is essentially who he is and what his character is basically based on, but it would also be interesting to see Shakes in an environment that isn't football. Just not in this way at all. He shouldn't just be giving up on the one thing he's done for his whole life in one day, that stuff takes a lot of time to process and decide on what to do because it's THE FUTURE and you have to be prepared for whatever could happen.
Tumblr media
So overall, I think "Game Over" was an interesting episode to try and explore the topic of burn out, but the way it's executed leaves a lot to be desired. Especially since the topic of burn out is so closely related with mental health, I do think that topic should have been explored more in the episode too. The episode was missing the build up to the main conflict itself (the dream) where we could have seen Shakes start losing his touch in every game he plays, and prior episodes of the season, and the seasons before season seven, could have had elements of Shakes showing he was getting tired of the "same old, same old" in his life. If we had the information that was showed in Rookie Season before we even had Rookie Season, I think it would have made the episode much better.

So, after my last Supa Strikas post, I decided to go ahead and make another personal takes. Watched a few more seasons and decided to make this one about the coaches. I will very much be making at least one more of these in the future.
Also, big, BIG shout-out to the Supablr community for the reception. You guys are awesome!
Vince: People simp over him and say he's 'fine AF'. Sorry ladies, but he's a bastard and I have standards when it comes to my men
Toni Vern: He's an irredeemable bastard AP college physics professor preaching to a bunch of frat boys, and then wonders why no one takes him at all seriously. I certainly don't
Inyo: Former Bond villainess/love interest. The only mysterious thing about her is how a British woman can pull off such a flawless American accent
Ura Giri: I imagine this would be Shredder in his late 70's. No matter how evil he is, after one too many encounters with ninja teenage superheroes, anyone remotely younger than you and semi-proficient in martial arts will have you walking on eggshells 24/7
Buddy Watkins: So this is how other countries stereotype America. It's okay guys, you don't have to be nice about it.
Del Aqua: In the same boat (Haha! get it?) as Coach in that he puts up with way too much daily shenanigans from his adopted charges. Is secretly glad his boys are surfers and stay out of the house, cause he is never caffeinated enough to deal with their nonsense otherwise.
Dr. Black: This guy uses billion-dollar NASA equipment to cheat at football games. I'm no rocket scientist but something just isn't adding up about this.
Colonel von Pushup: Acts super done with life but is really just super done with his dumbass kids. Isn't the best at dading coaching which is why he so often resorts to spying on the other dads coaches for ideas. Wishes Uber and Ja Nein would stop all their sexual tension infighting before someone takes notice
Belmont: His kids are perpetually dressed up as zombies, vampires, and werewolves and act the part in public too. Tell me with a straight face he doesn't have a legendary tolerance level that would make Coach jealous.
Golare: His kids are all grown up and independent, but he really, reeaaaaally wants to still be relevant in their lives
Sheikh Ali Zaman: Guys like this are why Americans hate Jeff Bezos

maturing is realising that other teams exist outside of the supa strikas lens. like… let me give you an example. you need to understand how exciting it is to imagine the other teams going through their own hijinks. whether it’s internally, ala “heels over head” with skarra overcoming his injuries in “perfect match” or externally w each other.
imagine how hilarious THAT would be!!!!
other teams commencing psychological torture onto each other. like forget the supa strikas guys, how will iron tank use espionage against invincible united??
technicali (by technicali, i mean john j johnson jr) pissing their pants whenever they travel to feratuvia
insert toni verne laughing at grimm’s whole “ahead of the game” scam thinking he could’ve gotten away w it better
orion taking advantage of the lunar cycles and the tides to somehow beat hydra fc
inyo, without a fail, successfully manipulating invincible united JUST because the team already has trust issues
“how did you pull that one off, coach inyo?” “to be frank, they did most of the work. i just had to send an email.”
sultans and hydra fighting over who pulls off the dome stadium concept better
ever since “klaus on inspection” i truly wonder what kind of dynamic iron tank has w invincible united bc i would argue they are both the most offensive, on AND off the court. i can definitely picture skarra calling out uber on natter over his smelly b.o.
who does capitalism better? cosmos or the sultans?? sorry buddy watkins got nothing on THE sheikh!!!
A CONTINUATION OF “GREETINGS FROM SUNNY FERATUVIA” WHERE IRON TANK ALSO HAS TO EXPERIENCE THE GRIMM FANS’ INSANE SABOTAGE. except this time, there is a whole lot more yelling
i love these so much, please guys leave ur own headcanons and scenarios for this!!! why wait for a season 8 when we can combine our brain power to make up spin-off episodes abt the other teams!!!!
moonbug… please… more cross-team episodes… please please save me… save me other teams

Here's a question:
What are your Supa Strikas ships that you thought of and like, and think people wouldn't get?? (I'm curious lol-)
MIMPI... mimpi... be careful for what you're asking because you know how i am with shipping. guys i ship for life. like i dont give a damn if the ship's interaction is worth one cent... i make do with what i can and have!!! and after rewatching the show a couple billion times... i have gathered some INTERESTING ones.
liquido and riano
Tumblr media
as you may know, i have watched "your latest trick" A LOT. yes they did interact in this one scene and never again but hear me out they give me: liquido can't get over himself and thinks he can bag one of the finest man in the super league. but we all know riano, riano isn't having any of that. their convo would go something like this:
"hey, riano~" "goodbye, liquido."
el matador and blok
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YES. yall heard me. this is also me showing some love to blok because some people seem to forget about him!!! what can i say, i love the idea of this dynamic. the thing is, sometimes i ship things in a way i wanna see more of them interacting and not necessarily picture them BEING together. if that makes sense.
these two are exactly that. i wanna see more of them interact bc lowkey i thought it was so wholesome when blok wanted to collaborate and promote fzzzl bmmm w the release of el matador's action figure.
DOOMATIC!!!!! OH YEAH BABY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if only automatic had more moments EUGH... this would've been so good. i personally pat myself on the back when i thought of this one bc i cooked HARD!!! they definitely cannot stand each other and to me, that's the best part of it all.
enemies to lovers who? more like enemies and i cannot believe we're also lovers.
skarra and north
Tumblr media
the best way i can describe this one is. i am simply projecting myself on north and i love skarra. so... yeah #SHAMELESS
inyo and miss altivo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AKA PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE YURI!!! this one you guys HAVE to love. PLEASE!!! the potential is so insane here... inyo's big brains and chameleon-like tactics? combined with altivo's unwavering power over these dumb men for clicks and views??? COUNT ME TF IN!!!
we need more yuri in this fandom and THIS is where we should start.
brenda and lena
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SPEAKING OF YURI... here's another one. except this time i am so surprised nobody has jumped on this yet??? futbol 360 yuri, i NEEEED IT!!! i need it now. they'd honestly be so cute and wholesome, moreover they definitely trade information abt the players for work
coach and the sheikh
Tumblr media
now this one is a tad bit controversial BUT who am i without some controversial opinions!!! this is another case of i cannot see them BEING together, but i would kill to see them interact more. they are wayyy more entertaining than coach and vince. (THAT MIGHT ALSO BE CONTROVERSIAL) ohh... the way sheikh is so sassy w coach. maybe i just want more of the sultans... yeah thats it.
Tumblr media
"losing your cool, coach? or just losing?" AND THEN PROCEED TO WALK AWAY LIKE THE BADDIE HE IS??? crazy stuff. i want more. NOW!!
belmont and von pushup
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OKAY SO... storytime is i had an edit of these two a long time ago but i cant find it???? so consider it xander lost media at the moment. you guys need to hear me out on this because they would be SOOO PEAK!!! jock and goth but to another level i fear. as big and tough the iron tank guys are, i doubt they can stand grimm fc's haunted gimmicks.
plus von pushup works together w belmont to scare his own team bc he thinks its hilarious and perfect psychological training for them
AAAAAND THAT'S ALL... for now hehehe
sorry for the really long response but I HAD TO GET IT OUT OF MY SYSTEM!!!! i love crackships so much and especially in supa strikas bc we get a whole lot of freedom as a smaller fandom to do whatever. this was a very fun post to make, thank you so much mimpi for that lovely question!!! i always look forward to your input
