Mugshot Monday - "Peaceful Tree" coffee mug by Minsoo Yuh with Earl Grey Black Tea by Choice Organics
This is my wife's Minsoo Yuh cup she found at this year's St. Croix Valley Pottery Tour in May.
Cindy started picking up different sized coffee cups with the same lovely painting of a tree with little colorful leaves. The cups were so beautiful and felt amazing to hold.
She had settled on getting one, but was indecisive about which one was the perfect cup.
Pretty soon she had 4 cups she was scrutinizing! It became slightly comical.
That's when we bumped into Minsoo. We introduced ourselves and had a delightful conversation after chuckling about Cindy's difficult decision.
Minsoo was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, but moved to the United States and lives in Athens, GA as a full time studio potter with her husband, SunKoo Yuh, who is also a ceramic artist.
She often makes the trip to Minnesota for pottery events and has had her work on display at Northern Clay Center. I hope you get a chance to meet her some day because she is a fabulous person.
I have a feeling I will have my own Minsoo Yuh coffee mug in the future. They are so goooooood. 😀 ☕️

Miami Florida Downtown
Things You Can Do in Miami Florida Downtown
Usually the locals share a love-hate relationship with Miami Florida Downtown. This is a multi-billion dollar high-rises strip. Here you will come across hordes of tourists. This is actually the urban core of Miami. As a matter of fact, this is the earliest part that was developed in 1890s. In this part of the city, you will find several cultural institutions and historic buildings. Here are some things that you can do when you visit downtown Miami.
Miami Florida Downtown
Visit Perez Art Museum
There is nothing better than contemporary art. Perez Art Museum Miami, the flagship museum of Miami. Here you will see Julio Le Parc: Form into Action. As a matter of fact, you will experience the shiny and funky kinetic art which includes light projections, paintings, sculptures, and video. Herzog & de Meuron is the museum’s architect. This place offers year round exhibits along with educational programs for the kids. The best part about this is you will be able to attend the teaching artist program if you want to become an artist.
Get Training in Miami Science Barge
Do you want to become a marine biologist? If so then you should definitely go for the Miami Science Barge. This is one of the best parts about Miami Florida Downtown. It is a floating marine laboratory which is also an environmental education center. This vessel floats on the Biscayne Bay. You will be able to access it from the Museum Park itself. When you are on board, you have the option to check out the hydroponic system, the solar panels, and the aquaculture hatchery. The barge will also offer you with field trips for students from kindergarten to class 12. Thus, they will be able to learn about environmental responsibility and sustainability.
Pay Homage to Miami Heat
The list of places to visit in Miami Florida Downtown will not be complete if you do not include the Heat Nation. Irrespective of whether you are driving, biking, or walking downtown, the American Airlines Arena is pretty difficult to miss out. Arquitectonica, the popular firm has designed this structure.
Visit Freedom Tower
If you want an aerial view of downtown Miami, you should visit the yellow Mediterranean revival tower. This place is topped with a lantern. The history of this tower is reflected in the tower’s Cultural Legacy Gallery. As a matter of fact, the history is mainly dedicated to the work which can impact the Cuban culture. On the second floor, you will come across displays from Korean artist Sunkoo Yuh.
Check Out the Shopping Arcade
When you go for shopping in Miami Florida Downtown, you should definitely check out the shopping arcade. If you are a fashionista, it might not be top on the list. However, this was a hotspot for commerce in the 20th century. The mall is still open. However, it is unoccupied with a Christmas tree, a tailor, and a pop-up stand. You might not find any such thing to buy but if you wander around the corridors, it will be a nostalgic trip for you.
Take a Stroll on the Riverwalk
As far as romantic strolls are concerned, there is nothing that can beat the Riverwalk. As you walk, you will find the Miami River on your right. The place is dotted with public work of art.
If all these don’t suit you then you can take in some fresh air at the Biscayne Bay. In this street, you will find tourist all around. At times, you need the greenery to shake off the claustrophobia of the city life. Since, you are in downtown Miami you will not have to travel much to find it out.
