“Laura Roe,” 29 (Germany 1974)
The German medical journal Zentralbl Gynakol documented the death of a 29-year-old from legal abortion. I used the name Laura Roe because no name was given.
Laura was put under anesthesia and her cervix was artificially dilated. When the machine was started, the abortionist noticed that the pressure was unusually heavy and that Laura was bleeding badly.
The abortionist stopped the suction unit, but instead of attempting to diagnose and fix the cause of the bleeding, the abortion was just continued manually.
4 minutes after the start of the abortion, Laura suffered from irregular breathing and cardiovascular collapse. Attempts to resuscitate her failed.
Laura’s autopsy revealed that she had been killed by a horrifying and negligence oversight. The hose of the suction cannula was attached to the exhaust outlet of the suction pump, meaning that vacuum exhaust had been pumped into Laura’s system. She had bubbles of vacuum exhaust in her vascular system along with pulmonary edema and emphysema. The air embolism killed her.
