The touch of her hand going through his hair was soothing and relaxing, enough that between that and the steady rock and rumble of the subwaycar, Peter was sure he could sleep right then and there. Which wasn’t exactly unheard of from him, just a lot less often after waking up mid spider power change and causing a mess. It didn’t change the fact that he almost leaned over again to rest back on Gwen’s shoulder and let his eyes close for a few more minutes.

It did change the argument he was going to try with the defense that he was fine and it wasn’t that bad. Not as effective when he had no memory of getting on the subway in the first place.

He managed to straighten slightly and rub a hand over his face, “I’ve just been…busy.” and Gwen was probably one of the last people that Peter had to clarify what that meant to. Actually she might be the only person he didn’t have to either explain thing to or use some general cover story on. That didn’t really mean that Peter was in any kind of hurry to start walking her though things like what Spider-Man was currently having to deal with. Or just finished dealing with, “A lot was going on, it got straightened out. That’s all.”

Sleep sounded like a great idea though, and he was still tempted to just lay down where he was and get a few minutes in. Trying not to cause any more worry to Gwen then he probably already had was enough to keep him from doing so, "Sorry, I'll be alright.."

Gwen usually wasn't able to pull Peter along so easily. Usually, he's not this out of it, resists more, so she knows something is wrong, even if she's not sure what, exactly. She managed to pull him all the way through the subway, using her own metro card to get them through the turnstiles.

Not that it was easy to pull a half-asleep, 5' 10" man through, but she did it. She'd be proud of herself if she wasn't so worried about him.

She's running her fingers through his hair when he speaks, head moving from where it'd been resting against her shoulder. "I'm taking you home, doe. You look like you haven't slept in a few days."

Posted @withregram • @the_gr0g "R32s Under the Walkway" On the afternoon of March 16th, 2022, New York City Transit Budd R32 railcars 3879, 3878, 3929 and 3928 approach the former New Haven Railroad Poughkeepsie Bridge/ Walkway Over the Hudson in Highland, NY as they take a ride on CSX Q434 up the River Subdivision towards Selkirk. The four cars were de-trucked and loaded onto flat cars the week before to be transported to Frontier Metals in Ohio for scrapping.
