Ryan-Posting again! ♡

Otherwise Titled: a stressed Orphan and her protective Guardians.

Ryan gets her Found Family .2 seconds after entering the Armada Ship. Subodai watches her back from the start, and his take is basically: That's a child. She's capable, yeah, and a great leader, but she's a child. I'm protecting her with my life. He effectively becomes her Dad. (As well as her First-Mate)

And then, of course, there's Dead Mike. He's like her uncle. He was the one person who didn't ever abandon her or her parents (willingly) and he swore his afterlife to avenge her family, and now to care for her. He's a big softy, and the moment he realized Ryan was still alive, he swore to be there for her till his second death.

And, as it goes, I also love the concept that Ryan is generally pretty harmless-looking when she first starts her adventures. No name for herself, she doesn't speak, and her actions are sneaky so people rarely know it was her who hit them. Until she becomes more infamous, Dead Mike and Subodai act as her big scary goons. They hit hard and w/o hesitation if Ryan orders it.

(Also picturing Ryan ready to tear someone to pieces, but she's already low on health, and Ratbeard or Steele holding Ryan back with Subodai and Mike roll up their sleeves and go demolish the enemy. And/or Armada coming by in a town, and Ryan ducking behind Subodai and clinging to his hand (hoof?) As she uses him as a wall between her fear and herself.)

All of the Subodai companions remind me how you saw EVERYONE with their starter companion and/or Bonnie Anne on the first day <3

Also, a little fun fact here, but there used to be a platform in front of Avery's Office before they replaced it with the staircase. KI probably noticed everyone taking the long way around. You can see it in this screenshot!

Wizard 101: Hey kid, you just got pulled into Wizard School, and it looks like you're ready to start. Go down that path and someone will teach you to fight. Oh shit, that's Malistare, uhhhh, *one minor battle later* Good job kid. Go and do some little quests and beat up some fairies, you're doing great! :)

Pirate 101: You're in jail. Pirates are breaking you out of jail! They're... asking about your trauma. You're a pirate, an orphan, the son of a whore and a scotsman, you were raised by another group of people, now you're pulling a jail break and helping other prisoners escape! A uhhh, a guy threatens to murder you. He's the one who locked you up. The pirate guy almost dies and you have to drive his ship??? *one stressful sail later* Hey kid, go beat up this guy who stole from me. I'm gonna cheat and scam you, btw, just so you know. :)

Headcanoning the bg3 companions as crewmates in p101

Astarion as a cat/mouse Swashbuckler. Hands down. (In w101 I think he'd be in the Fire school but I could also see him in Myth or Death.)

Gale is a Witchdoctor obviously. (I think in w101 he'd be a Storm or Fire school wizard, maybe the Balance school post-game.) I could see him as a dog, specifically from Marleybone.

Shadowheart as a Privateer because of the healing, and because on a meta level I feel like she tends to be the leader/second-in-command of the group. I see her as a fox because she and Bonnie Anne are both early-game companions and low-key faces of their respective games. (In w101 she'd be in the Death school.)

Lae'zel as a Buccaneer for the focus on strength and heavy armor/weapons. Obv she'd be a frog.

Wyll as a Musketeer? I tend to have him more range focused with his spells. I think he'd be a unicorn for that Diego energy. (Diego is the unicorn duel master from w101.) (In w101 I think he'd be in the Storm school for his personality and combat effectiveness, but he'd use a sword instead of a wand.)

Karlach as a Buccaneer for the focus on raw strength and courage. I could see her as a horse, like Subodai. Or maybe a cow for the horns?

Not sure about class for Halsin (Privateer? Witchdoctor?) but he'd be a bear. You know he would. (In w101 he's Life School 100%.)

Minthara could go Buccaneer for strength/bravery or Swashbuckler for stealth/darkness. I think she could be a rat, or maybe a horse.

I haven't played with the other companions enough to properly guess but I'm open to suggestions!

Companion Head Cannons From My Pirate101 Swashbuckler Oc

Subodai is one of the closest people to Cordelia, aside from Lucky Jack Russel. The two made their way through their imprisonment, Skull Island, and met a furry companion along the way. He sees her as a future warrior in the making, and knows that one day she could have the power to do wonders for the Spiral, or catastrophic things to the Spiral. He wants to see what type of person she will become, seeing the same pride that he has, that she has hidden away deep down.

Bonnie Anne at first thought Cordelia was more of a wannabe pirate for hire. But as she spends more time with Cordelia, she earns more respect for her seeing her determination to find out more about her parents, to either find closure or something else, Bonnie has no clue what it could be. But she saw the true making of a Captain after they managed to found Gunn's gold, and how generous she was to her crew when handing it out as well.

Ratbeard didn't think much of Cordelia at first to be completely honest. She was smaller than him, and she didn't look like a true pirate at that point. Once he joined her crew, he saw what a Captain should have been, seeing the error of his ways. For some time, he would be disgusted with himself for what he had accidentally done to his previous crew, until one day Cordelia finally talked to him. After their talk that only those two would know about, he wasn't guilty per se. He just felt a strong urge to do right by his previous crew, and his current one.

Jack Russell is the one being in the Spiral that has known Cordelia the longest. He also knows her true nature, and how she is. When he saw her in the Presidio, he was elated to see that his efforts to help save her didn't go to waste. After becoming apart of her crew, he realized that she was struggling with her past traumas from her childhood, and nothing he did helped her. He honestly thought that perhaps forgetting everything about her parents as a whole, was the best thing for her when they made it to Aquila. When it happened, he noticed that the same behaviors were still there, she just didn't remember why. But there were some differences that he picked up on. Things that once made her so unique, were practically erased. Except her Rose obsession, which was still present, just much more subtle after losing her memories of her parents. He vowed to make sure she stayed safe, and to help her in anyway he could, even if it was down to the worst methods, he would do it.

Sarah Steele saw how good Cordelia was in a fight, and she knew she would have to practice with her on her fencing. Simply put, they became sparring partners.

Fan Flanders was glad to have a Captain that didn't care about her reputation in Marleybone whatsoever. With her being in the crew, she felt she had a family again, but different from the one she had to leave behind years prior. It made her feel good, and so she stuck around.

Old Scratch is ironically another being that is close to Cordelia. Ever since he joined her crew and realized she was chasing after her parents and their legacy, he wanted to help in anyway he could, for breaking him free of the darkness that once was a hold of him. So, he grew more powerful and would commune with the spirits, wanting to find out more about her parents, as well as anything he could about El Dorado. He would also put incense in her quarters as a way to prevent any dark magic sleeping in, so he claimed. In reality, it was more his of way of trying to help with her nightmares, as he heard her sobbing one night while he was communicating with the spirits. Although it's more subtle than Jack and Subodai, he does care and worry for her just the same, the spirits at times telling him things that she will one day encounter, among other things.

El Toro at first didn't trust Cordelia when they first met, outside of his hero persona. But before he even joined her crew, she helped Cool Ranch and Santo Pollo with everything she had, which he heard about as he traveled. But after she came back with Mustang Sally, he saw a different side to his new Captain. Secretly, Cordelia was a romantic, although she would never admit that. But the way she decided to help bring those two lovers together wasn't entirely out of selfishness, even if she did think their relationship was odd in itself. She later learned, that El Toro's father hadn't officially adopted him, but just took him in. Something that almost no one knew about, aside from his family. Then she fully supported their relationship from that point onward, even if she never said anything about it.

Monkey King did think that Cordelia was gullible for her age by the time he met her. She was skilled, he'd give her that. But when he was forced onto her crew, he intentionally made it a point to force Cordelia to spot lies when they were being told to her. If he was forced to be on her crew, he figured he'd make the best of it for the time being. With him helping her, she soon began spotting the tells of when someone was lying, withholding information, and exaggerating something to her face. She still played up the gullible card, til the perfect moment to catch whoever she was speaking to by surprise, which secretly made MK proud of her progress, as well as the little trickster she was slowly becoming as well.

Catbeard fully took advantage of Cordelia in starting a war between Valencia and Marleybone, there was no question about that. He knew who she was, as well as her mother the moment he saw her. He was curious, and wanted to see what potential the daughter his old friend had. He was impressed by how she managed to start the war, and turn the tides for Marleybone when they began losing against Valencia. When he joined her crew, he realized she would go above and beyond the heights her mother had, even with the challenges that were to come in the future.

Not me thinking about how Subodai’s story parallels Chinggis Khan’s and wondering why didn’t they give him the crown shop version’s name of Temujin (which was Chinggis Khan’s BIRTH NAME).

Literally, the story is almost point for point the same. Raised under a powerful Khan/family, losing that, and having to fight tooth and nail to earn the respect of those around him. The differences are there, such as Subodai rejecting the opportunity to become the main leader and prefers to fight alongside the Pirate, but it still gets to me!

Plus it goes back to the whole thing with Mongol women I had discussed a while back. Chinggis Khan’s mother is credited as the reason he became the great leader he was. So now I really want a Subodai mom sidequest and also KI name her Börte please I beg of you I need my history food.
