Hellraiser: Revelations (2011)
The guy who played Pinhead didn’t come back to play Pinhead because he saw a disaster and avoided it. Someone portrays Pinhead on screen now and someone else does his voice. He’s more menacing and scary looking. In this awful horror movie, 2 boys go missing in Mexico. One of them comes back and holds his own family hostage, and it’s revealed in flashbacks that it’s the other boy in their sons skin. Then the Cenobites show up. And it’s dumb.
Rating: F. I don’t care if y’all lose the rights to Hellraiser, you can’t make a good one so knock it the fuck off.

Kaylee Rodrigues didn’t begin courting on May 18 (+0.5 SD). Her NPD is January 16, 2022 (+1 SD).
... and, these events weren’t late, but now are—
Lawson Bates didn’t ‘courtpose’ to Tiffany on July 2 (On Time). NPD is September 24, 2021 (+0.5 SD)—but honestly, it’s unclear if they’re going to court, if they’re pre–courting now, if they’re already courting, or what.

Hellraiser IX: Revelations (2011)
I wish I could gather up the noodle-brained dung beetles who assembled Hellraiser: Revelations into a pot and cook them alive. I thought Hellraiser: Hellworld was bad. Compared to this, it's genius. Just when you’ve reached the lowest, most punishing level of the inferno, they mix things up by adding elements of a “found footage” horror and home invasion horror to the franchise. I paused the 75-minute feature to yell at it so often it took me two hours to finish it.
The families of Nico (Jay Gillespie) and Steven (Nick Eversman) are in shock after the boys disappear while vacationing in Tijuana (repeatedly and gratingly pronounced as “TiHWAnna!” by Nico). At the center of the mystery is a videotape featuring a tall man covered in leather with pins protruding from his face and scalp (Stephan Smith Collins). When Steven, reappears at his parent's house with the Lament Configuration Box, they're relieved; unaware the suffering has only begun.
There’s nothing to like about this movie. They don’t even have Doug Bradley back as Pinhead but this casting controversy is the least of this film’s worries. The characters guarantee you will hate the film with a burning passion. Steven, our protagonist encourages Nico to cheat on his girlfriend... and his girlfriend is his sister!
There’s barely anything going on in this movie, and what does happen makes no sense. Two young men disappear in Mexico, a private detective has been assigned to track them down but the police haven't been informed? If they had been, wouldn't the home video of at least two people being murdered... have been taken in as evidence? Logic takes a prolonged vacation in this picture. I dare you not to clench your fists or gnash your teeth during the final scene. It's one idiotic decision after another. Sitting there silently would cause your skull to burst into flames so don't even try.
I can’t get over it. These guys get a mysterious puzzle box from a smelly Mexican hobo, he tells them to open it up... and they do it? The guy missed out. He should've tried to sell them magic beans! It’s the worst Hellraiser film. It also showcases the worst elements of a “found footage” horror movie. There is no reason for the two young men to be shooting the video they're shooting. The camera being there creates inconsistencies in the story and the tape's discovery makes no sense. It also contains the worst elements of a “home invasion” horror story. You despise the future victims but feel no joy when they get slaughtered. I had some praise concerning at least an attempt to show the “pain and pleasure the realms of which you cannot fathom” thing that only a few of the entries have done, but that would be like saying that the vibrations of you getting hit by a car made the day 1% less rainy for an ant that was about to be stepped on.
I haven't seen all of the Hellraiser pictures. Based on the ratio of failures to successes, and how bad the bad ones have been, I don't think I need to. This is an awful franchise. If you’re going to watch any, just watch the first one and if you're really a big fan of it, watch Inferno too. Everything else is torture, particularly Hellraiser: Revelations. (On DVD, March 8, 2015)

Sweet Suffering Pt 9 (Hellraiser: Revelations, 2011)
Sweet Suffering Pt 9 (Hellraiser: Revelations, 2011)
When Dimension realized they were about to lose the rights to Hellraiser, well that called for a sequel. Revelations is, admittedly, very clearly meant to be a Hellraiser sequel. It brings back a lot of the imagery and general atmosphere of the first few films. It is all a masquerade though.
The film begins with a found footage sequence in which Nico and his buddy Steven are on their way too…

so i may have talked about this here already, but last year i had a new year’s resolution to read all the books i own but haven’t read. i had a few rules to help keep me on track, but one of them actually helped me not finish: i was allowed to buy new books, as long as i added them to the “unread” list and read them
what ended up happening was that i read “the gunslinger,” and then of course had to read the other seven books in that series. then i read “the bad beginning” and then had to read the other twelve books in that series. whoops
so this year, i tweaked my rules, and i think it’s going to help me this time. i think i’ll be able to hold up my resolution and complete it, this year. here are my guidelines:
If I have started a book I own, but have not finished it, it counts as unread
I have to read at least two-thirds of a book before putting it down for good; if I do that, I have to give the book away, and I cannot count it as one I have read*
I can buy new books, but I cannot read them until I’ve read all the books I owned as of January 1, 2018
I cannot reread a book I have already finished, unless I have read all of the books I owned as of January 1, 2018, and any new books I had purchased throughout the year
*this one is just for books that are “stab me in my eyeballs” bad. i’ll try to use this only as a last resort. i made the rule when i tried to read “people in the playground,” which is honestly one of the worst books i have ever read. still made myself read 2/3 of it
so idk about y’all but i’m excited. and anyway, here’s the list of books i’ll need to read this year in order to complete this resolution (under the cut bc this post is long enough already (if you’ve read any of these, lemme know what your thoughts were. how excited/worried should i be to have to read it lol)):
