finding out they’re kind is all scrapped and he’s the last remaining one left. So if he dies the U50s are officially gone forever.
What are some things that your OC would have been better off not knowing in the first place?

Heathers AU 80’s Pop Culture Interests
Veronica: Loves classical literature, John Hughs movies, and Disney movies. Enjoys an occasional fantasy film like The Princess Bride, Willow and Legend (the Tom Cruise movie where Tim Curry plays the devil btw). can usually be found B Dalton Booksellers at the Sherwood Mall pouring through its collection on the weekend. Developed an interest in Transformers from her friendship with Dan.
Martha: Particularly enjoys cute things. A huge movie fan and a bit of film snob, she loves Princess Bride above all else. Likes Jim Henson projects, Disney, My Little Pony, She-Ra, Peanuts, ALF, Garfield, Heathcliff, and sitcoms like Punky Brewster, Saved By The Bell and Mama’s Family.
Dan: Wears his interests proudly. Transformers, ALF and Disney Ducks, specifically DuckTales, are his top interests. Likes sci-fi and fantasy movies like The Last Starfighter, Wizards, Dragonslayer, The Dark Crystal, The Flight of Dragons, They Live, Enemy Mine, and The Transformers: The Movie. Famously he was the only one in his friend group back in Hawkins, NOT traumatized by the death of Optimus Prime. Can usually be found at Waldenbooks, KB Toys, Hills and Ames looking for books and Transformers. Likes sitcoms like Family Matters, Doogie Howser and Growing Pains.
JD: Likes chaos and dinosaurs, especially when the two go together. Dabbles in classic literature, and likes Dr. Jeckle & Mr. Hyde in particular. His favorite non Slushee thing is the trading card series Dinosaurs Attack!. Likes The Transformers, with his favorite teams being the Dinobots and Terrorcons. He also likes Soundwave’s two dinosaur cassettes Overkill and Slugfest. Enjoys westerns, schlocky monster/Kaiju movies, RoboCop, the Mad Max series, Escape From New York, The Terminator, Hellraiser, Critters, The Dark Crystal (mostly because of how gnarly the Skeksis look), The Secret of NIHM, Rock & Rule, and shooting games like Operation Wolf and Duck Hunt. Also enjoys crime shows like Wiseguy and Hunter.
Red Heather: Enjoys romance and mystery movies like Cocktail, Dirty Dancing, Body Double, The Bedroom Window and Vision Quest. Looks down on those who still watch cartoons at their age like Dan and Specs, despite she herself liking a good Bugs Bunny cartoon once and awhile. Enjoys teen gossip magazines like Teen Beat, ‘Teen, and Super Teen, but doesn’t read much otherwise.
Green Heather: A closet Muppets, Indiana Jones and Star Wars fan. Particularly likes the Ewok spin off movies, but desperately tries to hide this from the other Heathers. Absolutely hates romance movies like Can’t Buy Me Love, and chafes when Red Heather forces her to watch them for movie night. Has a thing for musicals like The Phantom of the Opera, Starlight Express and Cats.
Gold Heather: Despite her sweet demeanor and appearance, she LOVES horror and slasher movies like Hellraiser, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Child’s Play, Army of Darkness, Creepers, and Fright Night. The bloodier and more chaotic, the better. Red and Green are too disturbed to really judge or comment and just let Gold enjoy herself. She also dabbles in anime because of Specs, owning a Doraemon keychain he gifted her clipped to her purse. When asked by others, she denies knowing what it is and just found it cute in a crude attempt to protect her reputation.
Specs: HUGE Star Wars fan. Had he survived, he would also be a fan of the Prequels and Sequels, mostly happy there’s more movies to enjoy and analyze, despite agreeing the sequels aren’t that great. Big anime fan, enjoying stuff like Space Adventure Cobra, Demon City Shinjuku, Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit SSX, Doraemon, Saint Seiya, Space Warrior Baldos, Robot Carnival, Giant Gorg, Ronin Warriors and Sherlock Hound, but particularly loves Tatsunoko Productions like the various Time Bokan series and Tekkaman.
Kurt: Enjoys stuff like Conan the Barbarian, TMNT, He-Man, Thundercats, Thundarr the Barbarian, Blackstar and Bravestarr, but hides it initially. He-Man is his jam, and is both his “gay awakening” and the reason he started working out and getting into sports. Once admitted to Dan that Prince Adam/He-Man is his idol and who he strived to be, but failed and instead became an Evil Warrior like Two-Bad (in conjunction with Ram). Likes to collect He-Man toys but is often in a disguise when going to places like KB Toys to find them. Similarly likes collecting He-Man and TMNT comics but tries to hide them In between workout and swimsuit magazines. Also reads the gay model magazine Stud Puppy, but isn’t as good at hiding it… Actually got to model for Stud Puppy in his early twenties as part of a personal milestone.
Ram: A big TMNT fan, especially the movies and video games, but initially hides it. Is actually a pretty big gamer when he’s not playing football, and frequents the arcades to play the games albeit in disguise. An expert BurgerTime, Pole Position, Contra, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong player, and is very fond of Mario and The Legend of Zelda. Isn’t particularly great at sports games like ExciteBike and Track & Field ironically. A casual fan of Star Wars, and unsurprisingly his favorite part of Return of the Jedi is the slave Leia stuff. Enjoys testosterone charged movies like Top Gun, The Running Man, Commando, Bloodsport, Big Trouble in Little China and The Warriors.
Betty: Similar tastes to Veronica and Martha. Seems particularly into Care Bears, ironic given her cruelty later on. Likes sitcoms like Family Ties, The Golden Girls and Nightcourt.
Jamie: Shares Dan, Kurt, Ram and Spec’s interests. Big Dungeons & Dragons kid and loves the cartoon. Big movie guy like Martha. Enjoys stuff like V, Quantum Leap, TerraHawks, Poltergeist, Batteries Not Included and Flight of the Navigator.
Thrash: Shares Ram’s interest in testosterone based movies. Big Arnold Schwarzenegger and Slyvester Stallone fan.
Throttle: Like Veronica, he is a bit of a bibliophile, and enjoys classic literature. Likes Steven King and the Dune series in particular.

Starlight? Real Steel???
Send me an ask about my WIPs and get a snippet!
OMG my real steel au. that I've been working on for the last like three years. and by working on I mean I wrote about 7k in a rush three years ago and keep coming back to it every few months and bemoaning the fact that I haven't finished it yet. anyway. i love this fic. Real Steel is, completely unironically, one of my favorite movies. boxing robots and shitty dads redeeming themselves and hugh jackman. plus a kickass soundtrack, and anthony mackie. can't ask for more than that.
but anyway, I had the idea for this AU where Steve is a down-on-his-luck former boxing champion who used to train in bucky's family's gym, and of course they were best friends growing up. and then Sarah died. and then human boxing started to go to the wayside as bot boxing picked up steam, and Steve felt like he was losing his place in the world, and more or less abandoned new york (and bucky) to go try and make something of himself. fast forward about ten years, and Steve just had his last chance at making it big in the bot circuits taken away when his bot, Nomad, gets destroyed by a competitor in the ring. he's at loose ends and decides he's been running from new york long enough. and then he shows up on Bucky's doorstep, which is. as you might be able to guess. not his brightest idea.
Here's a snippet:
Bucky isn’t going to be able to prepare himself for the sight of Steve Rogers just beyond the glass door of his family’s gym, so he doesn’t bother with it. Still, he’s mad about how hard it hits him, like a punch to the solar plexus, seeing Steve after all these years. Tall and broad and golden, still, despite everything. With a beard, though, that’s new. Steve kept clean-shaven for all the years Bucky knew him, all the years he was physically able to grow a beard, anyway, which was not all of them. And it looks good on him, God, Bucky can’t ever catch a break.
When the door’s unlocked and they’re standing two feet apart, Steve looks up from his phone, his mouth quirked into the beginnings of a smile. Something soft, but malleable, like he’s waiting on Bucky’s reaction to see what to do with the rest of his expression. He’s slumped a little, shoulders drawn inward, and that’s familiar, too – that desire to come off as small and unthreatening as possible, never mind that he’s six-foot-two and two hundred and fifty pounds. It’s an endearing quality that Bucky’s learned to hate, because nothing should endear Steve to him at this point. Not his stupid blue eyes or his crooked smile, not his scarred knuckles – highlighted by the glare of his phone – or the fact that he hasn’t crossed the threshold into the gym yet, waiting on Bucky’s permission.
And Bucky hates all of it, hates himself just as much, because Steve Rogers gets under his skin like no one else ever has, or probably ever will.
As for starlight, star bright -- that's alien Bucky lmao. The gist of it (because I never fully fleshed this one out and I haven't touched it in a year or so) is that Bucky is a shapeshifting alien who was captured by intergalactic Hydra and forced to become a spy/assassin for them. He escapes and gets himself to Earth, where he takes on the form of a long-deceased soldier who's picture he finds in an abandoned cabin. He then runs into artist Steve, who's looking for a roommate and just chalks all of Bucky's oddities up to human eccentricity.
Snippet:
B— sits on the scorched, overturned earth a fair distance away from his ship, lips pursed as he observes the trees around him crackle and burn, the clearing he’s made for himself awash in the sickening glow of the flames. His ship is half-buried under two felled trees and a mound of dirt built from the initial wreckage. The sleek, silver hull reflects the firelight a little too well for his liking. He fumbles for the keys in his pockets, mildly concerned they might have disappeared along with his communicator; he’d torn his suit as he clambered out of the emergency hatch and the communicator hadn’t survived the impact with the jagged edge of the ship’s mangled wing. But no – he feels the telltale curve of the keys and lets out a quiet sigh of relief, pulling them from his pocket.
Passing his thumb over the keys, he reads through the functions as they light up in the wake of his touch. And there it is: camouflage. This will no doubt tax his ship’s engine, diverting energy from automatic repairs, but he doesn’t have much of a choice. C-53 has no reported contact with extraterrestrial lifeforms – not even the Kree have been here since the humans evolved and subjugated the rest of the planet. The shit-storm that would erupt if they happened upon his ship would be catastrophic for him; it’d be like broadcasting his location to the nearest fifteen star systems, all of which monitor the planets that haven’t yet made contact with anything outside their own atmospheres. From there, it’d take almost no effort for Hydra to find him and drag him back into the fold.
A shudder ripples through B—. No, he won’t – he can’t – let that happen. Better to risk long-term exposure on C-53 than to lead Hydra right to him after he’s just escaped.

Thinks about my au... I very much imagine that holding a conversation with an engine would be oddly comforting. You'd expect to be afraid of this metal giant but they look so much like people and engines especially who pull passenger would be MADE to look friendly and easy to approach. Imagine sitting on a railing next to where they're laying down. Maybe they're having maintenance. Maybe its a slow work day for the both of you. Hearing the loud rumbles or whirrs from their body. Hearing their powerful voice echo throughout the area. Listening to them ramble on about their travels, about things they've seen. Talking to them and relating the best you can. Answering the questions they have about being human that they don't know the answers to. Just a nice little chat. You'll hardly talk very much with how busy they are, but you got to have time with them, and it was like magic even though the engines have been around since 1952.

Control.
AU : @sutimetravelau
“Insecure, obsessive, dependent, needy” White Diamond listed the flaws of the crystal gems as she had them all under her control. They all get up, no float up, in extremely robotic actions, saying their own variation of “Thank you” and “I feel excellent”, except Twoie’s voice is clearly still there, he’s just saying her words, not being completely controlled. It wasn’t a pretty scene for obvious reasons, Amethyst, Pearl, and Garnet were all colorless but the thing was, Twoie wasn’t, he looked dull and pale, but his clothes were their normal colors, his eyes were wide and slightly twitched.
Steven tries to say something, he tries to help them, tries to stop their trances, to get them back, but everything he said seemed to become something that White Diamond could use to mock or manipulate him through the vessels. They all gather in a circle around him, saying her words and using her actions.
On Twoie’s side the actions felt stiff and painful, he was half organic, so the possession didn’t completely work. He kept trying to fight back, even with his strength, it was simply too difficult. It felt as if he were weighed down by something, specifically someone.
Suddenly he feels the pressure release, he’s surprisingly able to move, he takes a step forward, his face scrunched up, “ NO- YOU’RE WRONG, SHE’S DEAD, SHE’S BEEN GONE FOR FOURTE..” the sound of him being zapped by White’s energy echos around the room, he tries to fight back again, to regain the control he just lost.
“Twoie?! Come on you can fight this, I know you can! Please!” Steven cries out  to Twoie, Twoie’s expression doesn’t change, still locked in a smile, except for the eyes, his eyes betray the fact that he’s still trying. Everyone except Steven put a finger to their mouth, “ Shhhhhhhhhh...” White smiles a cold smile, “Oh Starlight, don’t you see? He’s under my control.”, the calmness of her voice adds to the horror of the scene before him. Where was Connie? Hadn’t she been behind them before? What was White going to do now? He feels a certain helplessness around him.
((Oh it’s a trip to write a fanfic based on asks, excuse how messy this is, I’m sleep deprived, I might continue this, but no promises here))

This is the version with ALL the bios!! For the individual drawings, go here!
Star Butterfly: When Meteora decided she didn't want to be the future queen of Mewni, preferring to travel around the world with her best friend Mariposa, Star was once again reinstalled on the throne. She was hesitant at first, but Eclipsa reassured her that she and Moon and all the queens after Festivia had earned their place as part of the Butterfly family—because no matter how flawed, they had served Mewni and made sure it fluorished till modern day. After her coronation, getting married to Marco, and having twins, Star has become much more mature. She's still playful but also very powerful, and even when magic comes back to Earth-ni, Star still doesn't fully trust it. Marco Diaz Butterfly: Star's husband and knight and the king of Mewni/Earth-ni, Marco is as caring and adventurous and strong and careful as ever. He can be quite overprotective of those he loves, but he's also always ready to battle. While Star is often frazzled with the duties of being queen, sometimes making her a little less aware of what's going on between her children, Marco is quicker to pick up on the conflict between Crescent and Celeste. Jackie Lynn Thomas Lucitor: Calm, cool, and collected, Jackie is as chill as ever. She really helps Tom's temper, and she enjoys teasing her husband a lot. She is a very carefree parent who doesn't push a lot of expectations on her son Tyrian, and while she often steps in when Tom is too harsh, her serene outlook on life can sometimes cause her to misunderstood her son's struggles to meet the kingdom's expectations. Note: I made Jackie and Tom a couple and designed Tyrian back in 2017! I didn't want to change everything in my next gen AU, so they're still together. Jackie is pansexual in this AU, and she did date Chloe. I do think Chloe and Jackie are cute btw! Tom Lucitor: While much calmer than he was as a preteen, Tom still occassionally loses his temper—especially since the duties of being the king of the Underworld can be very stressful. He's especially concerned that his son, Tyrian, seems to have such weak demon powers (since so much of him is part-human), and he worries about Tyrian and their kingdom's future. He doesn't mean to, but he piles a lot of expectations on Tyrian which really stresses the boy out. They were closer when Tyrian was younger, especially because they both do really love rabbits. Janna Ordonia Greason: Janna and Oskar sort of just happened. They're not a very dedicated or romantic couple, but they found their quirkiness compatible with one another. Still being her clever, manipulative self who can always get what she wants, Janna now acts as Oskar's manager for his music career. With her help, he's become a sensation—and she's trying to get him to rival the iconic boy band Love Sentence. Janna is still very interested in magic and the occult, and she is very good friends with Tom (sometimes much to his chagrin). Oskar Greason: Spacey, quirky, and sometimes rather strange, Oskar has since grown into a talented musician with many fans. His music style resembles Bill Wurtz in terms of uniqueness, but he also has a lot of popular "indie"-style songs that are more suitable for being played on the radio. He's often got his head in the clouds and has a coffee addiction (which he shares with his wife Janna). Oskar is often seen with dark bags under his eyes due to a lack of sleep—he seems most alive when singing or making music. Brittney Wong: Since growing up, Brittney has become a rather embittered woman. She runs a business empire and is still filthy rich, but she can still be quite rude and grumpy at times. Even then, she sometimes softens up, especially after Star tried to get to know her more, so she no longer dislikes her old classmates so much. She's also quite good at manipulating relationships to help her secure her spot on the social ladder, and she piles a lot of expectations on her daughter Whitney. Even then, Brittney isn't exactly a terrible person, and has a strong sense of morality in a cutthroat world of business. Note: Her adult design is based on Eliza Biskit from Littlest Pet Shop 2012, since I designed her daugher based on Whitney Biskit from the same show lol. Justin Armberg: Justin and Brittney got together awhile back, and their relationship has frayed quite a bit since then (perhaps they are divorced?). Justin is a professional football player, and despite his big size, he's got a pretty big heart. He loves his daughter a lot and does care for Brittney, but her attitude sometimes does get grating. StarFan13 (aka Amanda Jacobs): While still a giant fan of Star (and Marco!), StarFan13 does focus on other things after becoming an adult. She works at a library and reads to children and even writes picture books and children's novels (many inspired by Star), but she also got popular online for blogging about the royal queen and king of Mewni/Earth-ni. She's still quite hyper and quirky and excitable, but StarFan13 is also very nice and genuine. She recently got to know Kelly and they are growing quite close... Kelly: After she and Marco didn't really go anywhere as a couple, Kelly focused almost entirely on her fighting. She had a few relationships, but most of them were short and not very dedicated, and eventually she ended up with her son Kyle. Still, she's never let it get her down. She's still incredibly strong in battle, often duking it out with Jorby, and she's very kind and intelligent. Kelly enjoys reading, especially after her son got really into it (way more than sparring), and since visting an Earthen library, she got to know StarFan13 and they're growing quite close... Zeke: Friendly yet a little oblivious, Zeke has become a successful tattoo artist. He also enjoys skateboarding, spray-painting, and rocking out. While seeming mostly chill on the outside, he can get quite emotional over small things. Becky: Still dating Zeke, Becky is still a high-maintenance girlfriend, although she's less demanding than she was as a teen. She and Zeke have broken up a few times before, once being apart for a very long time, but they eventually ended up back together. She's fairly traditional in certain regards, and is currently a stay-at-home mom that does also do work from home. Alfonzo Dolittle: Alfonzo is still adventurous and goofy, but has since grown more into using that adventurous personality to pursue science and computer science (especially computer science and programming). He and Ferguson live together, and they collaborate on making video games. Ferguson O'durguson: Eccentric and sometimes a little crude or grumpy, Ferguson has grown into a sharp-minded businessman who is always ready to seek out a financial opportunity. Along with his partner (in crime) Alfonzo, he works primarily on promoting video games. Ruberiot: Always working on his next musical hit, Ruberiot wasn't too sad to pass the role of songstrel onto Angelo, a younger musician. Now he works on making his own music, having even collaborated with Oskar and is seeking a collaboration (and friendship) with Love Sentence. He hasn't changed much, still being easily frazzled yet fairly playful. Sometimes he gets overwhelmed with his wife and children's goofy antics. Foolduke: No matter how old she gets, Foolduke will always hold onto her sense of humour and cleverness. Still playful and fan, Foolduke enjoys teasing her husband. She has a lot of fun performing and even exploring the role of drama. Mime Girl: Basically an auntie to Foolduke and Ruberiot's children, Quince and Harley, Mime Girl is still very close to Ruberiot and Foolduke. While silent, she's very expressive and playful. She enjoys helping Foolduke and Harley practice performing. She also acts as a mentor to Quince, as he's so terrified of performing, easily scared, and has social anxiety, but miming calms him down, and he finds performing as a mime is easier for him than as a jester like his mom and sister. Princess Ram: Princess Ram is known to be fun-loving, often hungry, and kind of spacey. She loves beautiful things—especially shiny things—and keeps a careful eye on her Kingdom of the Green Pastures. Heartrude Butterfly: After marrying Princess Ram, he has since moved into the Kingdom of the Green Pastures. He's a little arrogant, high-strung, and competitive, but Princess Ram has helped him be more friendly and carefree. Penelope Spiderbite: Known for her kindness and friendliness, Penelope accepted monster refugees and helped them rebuild after the battle with Mina. Whenever kingdoms were hesitant to befriend monsters, Penelope was quick to join Star in the pro-monster campaign. She also works hard at modernizing her home, the Forest of Unlikely Spider Bites, and making sure her citizens have antidotes for all the spider bites they get.  Slime Spiderbite: Penelope's husband, Slime has since become king of the Forest of Unlikely Spider Bites but still doesn't really enjoy the spotlight. Despite that, most citizens like him because of his kind and helpful nature—he was the main inspiration for the antidotes to spider bites that has since become a bestselling item. Slime is also very inoffensive and having basically become the mascot for the antidote, he's a very effective spokesperson for the pro-monster campaign. Lilacia Pony Head: Not exactly having grown humble with age, Pony Head is still brash and loud and arrogant. She's not an unproblematic queen in the slightest, but her citizens enjoy watching her and the drama or chaos that follows her on "The Pony Head Show!". She's not even always the best wife or mother, often getting on her daughter Starlight's nerves, but she's very protective and fiercely loving of her family. Seahorse: He's still pretty robotic and hard to talk to, but he's been a really good influence on Pony Head (despite them having an on-and-off relationship for a really really long time). He manages her show and does damage control—the citizens all approve of him quite a lot. He's also getting a little back into heavy metal, especially since his daughter, Starlight, has a strong interest in it. He can be kind of overprotective and baby his daughter, but he's been there for her when Pony Head is off doing whatever. Katrina: One of the many children of Buff Frog (aka Yvgeny Bulgolyubov) and a very smart/talented fighter. She spends much of her day working out, and since the monsters have found more peace on Mewni, she's joined the Butterfly royal guard in a sort of integration program. She (and Mona Lisa, the Septarian that is found as an egg by Crescent and Celeste and later added to the Royal Guard) both mentored under Meteora a little bit (but especially Mona Lisa). She also still really enjoys cornball and loves her family very very much.

Super self-indulgent Caregiver Greaseball stimboard bc he is on my mind tonite and I like him lots :> I like to think he's the kind of dad who lets you sit with him and color or do whatever you'd like while he's doing his thing, he's not used to being super soft and easygoing, especially with little kids, but he tries his best because his kiddos would be his whole world <3

The Neighbour's Weirdness (II)
I’ve decided to make this thing into a maybe proper series/AU. Because why the hell not. Also I’m proud of myself this thing is over 1000 words. That doesn’t happen often with me. (Tag list down the bottom)
(Part I) (Part III)
Summary: Logan’s hopes for a normal day are effortlessly crushed by his neighbour - and his neighbour’s best friend.
When Logan walked into school that morning, he had only one hope. To survive the day with as little weirdness as possible. He sent a small prayer to whatever higher power existed - he didn’t exactly believe in them, but desperate times called for desperate measures - that Patton wouldn’t try to talk to him. Or even look at him.
Of course, Logan had never been that lucky.
He was standing at his locker when it happened, pulling out the things that he needed and checking he had all of the homework to hand in . “Hey there, neighbour!” The chirpy voice behind him was instantly recognisable, but the suddenness had Logan nearly choking on air, dropping all of his books. Turning around brought him face to face with none other than Patton, with a faltering grin on his face and his bag over his shoulder. “Shoot, sorry! I didn’t mean to surprise you!”
Why did he think that Patton would just forget about what happened last night?
“Hey… Patton…” He mumbled, staring down at Patton, and his books. He bent down, gathering the things that Patton hadn’t already picked up.
Patton’s patented 100-watt smile was back, every bit of his expression exuding kindness as he held out Logan’s workbooks. “I’m so sorry, Lo. I really didn’t think you’d be so startled!”
Logan frowned a little at the nickname. He rarely even let his family get away with calling him that, let alone his few friends. “It’s okay.” He waved his hand dismissively, trying to get everything back into order. “What do you want?”
Patton let out a little laugh, his smile vanishing as he twisted his fingers together. “About last night…”
“The onesie thing? I won’t tell anyone.” Logan gave his best reassuring smile. Which, admittedly, probably wasn’t very reassuring. “What you do in your bedroom is your business.”
Patton’s mouth opened, closed, and then curved into a grateful smile. “Thanks, Logan.” Something about Patton seemed to unwind, his shoulders a little lower, his smile relaxed and somehow warmer.
“No problem.” Logan cleared his throat, turning back to his locker. Seemingly satisfied, Patton walked off, humming quietly as he went. Logan shook his head, pressing a hand to his warming cheeks. He could not be attracted to Patton Felan. He refused to be attracted to Patton Felan.
He started for his classroom, trying to think of something other than the way Patton sounded, soft and sweet, when he thanked him. Fortunately, or rather, unfortunately, a distraction quickly came in the form of Roman Prince.
An arm hooked around his own, pulling him close and forcing him to match Roman’s quickly graceful walk. “A little birdie told me that you saw our dear darling friend Patton dancing around last night.” Logan didn’t miss the poorly disguised mischief that crept into his voice. “Do you happen to, oh I don’t know, have video of it?”
“Why would you want a video?” Logan asked, frowning.
“Revenge blackmail, duh,” Roman snorted, “Pat has a bunch of embarrassing pictures of me that he’s always holding over my head.” It was no secret that Patton and Roman got along like a house on fire, disrupting any and all classes they shared thanks to their antics. No doubt Patton had taken pictures from the last cookie incident, or some other event.
“I see…” Logan mumbled, clutching his books a little closer. “I don’t have any video of it. Sorry.”
“Damn.” Roman pouted and let go of Logan’s arm. Logan nearly breathed a sigh of relief at the loss of contact. “Thanks anyway, Sanders.” He clapped his shoulder. “I’ll just have to figure something else out. See you soon.”
As Logan watched the dramatic boy walk away, he felt his stomach sink. Those last words felt like a promise, rather than a throwaway statement. For once, he hoped he was reading too much into it.
As it turned out, Logan hadn’t been reading too much into it. When he walked into the library after school, ready to study with his usual group, there they were. Patton, in Logan’s seat, and Roman in a chair that had obviously been pulled over from another table.
Logan just managed to not scream. Externally, at least.
Awkward greetings were exchanged, and the order of seating was shuffled around. In the end, Logan was sat opposite Patton, squashed between Missy, a maths whizz who struggled with Literature, and Valerie, the creative genius of the group.
As time wore on, it became clear that studying was far from Roman’s mind. He decided to constantly switch between texting other people, sneaking pieces of chocolate, and bothering the others in the group. For some reason, however, Roman didn’t turn his attention on Logan - something he found himself strangely glad about.
Patton, however, was another story. He was certainly quieter than Roman, and shared the cookies that he was infamous for always carrying around. But Logan doubted he got through much of the book he was supposedly reading. Every time he looked up, Patton was quickly averting his gaze.  Every time, Logan found himself getting more and more nervous, his face hot as he continued to work on his homework.
He found himself making more and more errors than usual, until one of the others, Missy, ended up pointing out the obvious mistake in his mathematics problem. “You forgot to change the sign out the front after you substituted the derivative of u on minus 4x squared.” They murmured, tapping exactly where Logan had made his mistake. “That’s why we got different answers. Again. You’re usually on top of this, Logan. Are you feeling okay?” They jokingly reached out to almost press their hand to Logan’s forehead.
“Just got a lot on my mind.” He mumbled back, darting away from Missy’s hand. His cheeks felt hot as he went back and fixed his error, feeling Patton’s eyes on him the entire time. “Thanks.”
“Maybe you should go home. You need to be rested and ready for your robotics competition tomorrow, after all.” He had almost forgotten about the competition amongst all the weirdness of the day. Missy had a knowing smile on their face as Logan began to pack his things. “Do you need a ride?”
Patton perked up at that, responding before Logan could. “I can take him! We live right next door to each other, and I think my mom wants me home soon too.” Logan decided to keep his mouth shut, his gut telling him that putting up a fight was all but useless.
Missy seemed happy enough with that, nodding at Patton “I guess I’ll see you on Monday then. Good luck tomorrow.”
“Thanks, Missy.” Logan quickly said his goodbyes to the others, grabbing his bag. He fumbled with it as he tried to put his books into it as he made his way out of the library, his textbooks falling out of his arms without a warning.
Only for them to be saved by Patton. They stared at each other for a moment, and Logan didn’t say a word as he took his books back. He cursed his terrible luck, and quickly shoved the books into his bag.
The ride home was… awkward. Patton talked about classes and teachers and friends, but it was clear that it was to stop a suffocating silence from bearing down on the two of them. Logan said little, trying to figure out how, exactly, he got himself in this spot - riding with Patton, in his car, right next to him. Just the two of them.
Sweet, sweet relief came when Patton turned into their street. As soon as the car was stopped, Logan mumbled his hasty goodbyes, jumping out of the car and walking to his house as quickly as he could without actually running.
“Magnus, give me some good news. Tell me dad’s coming home early or something.” Logan called as he stumbled through the door, letting out a sigh once it was closed behind him. FInally, a break from everyone else. And an official end to his weird day.
“Something got your panties in a twist today, bro?” The disinterested boredom that dripped from those words could only belong to one person. Lo and behold, Logan turned to see that person in all of his raven-haired, hoodie-wearing glory.
Virgil.
