I'm starting a series of drawings where I introduce some stuff about my story, Startrails! (Which is still in development hsjdfh)
In this I wanted to introduce an ability that one of the fictional races in my story has that's unique to them. They're called Umbrals and they're moth-like shadow beings that can shapeshift and blend into darkness.
Text transcript:
Shadeshifting is an Umbral's ability to transform into intangible shadows. With this they can navigate through darkness with ease.
While in this form, Umbrals can slip through narrow spaces and blend into the shadows.
However, if they're exposed to direct light, they're forced back into their solid forms.

Seeing as Lucy doesn't fare too well in daylight, he and Lumi decide to have a picnic at night.
Eating is a curious concept for Lumi, as a being like her doesn't need to eat. But she wouldn't turn down a food offer from a friend.
Lucy gets to see firsthand though how an entity that doesn't eat, *does* eat.
It simply provided more questions than answers

I took this one the other night while watching the Perseids.
Is there anything better than a distant spot next to the forest, a few friends, a few blankets, a backpack full of beers, the camera pointing at the stars while all of you lie down and point at each shooting star with a "oooooh another! make a wish!"?

Ay bu gece pek bi güzeldi. Bulutlar sarmadan etrafını görüntüledim. Yakındır, yağmur, kar, soğuk habercisi olsa gerek. Soğuk dedim de sığınacak yeri olmayanlar geldi aklıma, onların yerine üşüdüm. Allah yardımcıları olsun... "Erkekler evlere çekildi çoktan, Katran gibi camlara yapıştı perde. Göreyim sıkıntıyı sav başından, Gel de dolaşma caddelerde. Kale her zamankinden korkunç: Gece vakti, karlar altında, kışın. Üzüyor mu seni delikanlı, Yollar gibi sokaklarda kalışın..." A star trails view of the NCP (North Celestial Pole) from my backyard, five hours of 15-second exposures stacked together to show the Earth's rotation. That star in the middle is the North Star, Polaris, the star at the end of the handle in the Little Dipper asterism. Polaris is very close to the NCP, only 4 degrees off the actual point in space that marks our planet's North Celestial Pole. Basically, if you're standing in a fixed position on the surface (say, in coastal New Hampshire at around 43° latitude) and draw an imaginary line along Earth's axis of rotation, out into space, until you reach a single point in space--that's the celestial pole, and from your perspective, all stars will rotate around that point. In the southern hemisphere, looking south, you have the SCP, South Celestial Pole, which doesn't have a bright star in close proximity--so imagine this image without that bright point of light in the center.
What is also interesting in this image, and makes it really clear, is that stars have color. Blue stars "burn" hotter and faster, redder stars are generally cooler and longer-lived. Our star, the Sun, is somewhere between, a medium-sized main sequence star about halfway through its 11-billion-ish year lifespan.
Notes: 1104 x 15-second exposures, Sony A7s, Irix 15mm f/2.4 lens, stacked in StarStax.

This here is Mira! She's a geo, an earth elemental with a terrarium objecthead. She's Lucy's guardian and follows Lucy's journey to find Lumi's fragments in Startrails.
Some facts about Mira:
- She was once an adventurer before she stopped to become a botanist in a quiet town.
- The terrarium head is a cosmetic and the plants inside are semi-organic.
- The hanging succulents that reassemble her hair reacts to Mira's emotions since they're an extension of her magic.

David Stephenson Of Heaven and Earth
David Stephenson’s photographs are about very big ideas: the endless tracts of the Antarctic icecap; the vastness of the starry heavens; the spiritual grandeur of the great domes of European sacred buildings; and the luminous complexity of the modern metropolis. While they are pleasing to look at, his images go far beyond the usual bounds of what we think of as beauty. They address a state of mind that, in the language of Western aesthetic ideas, is called the sublime: both spectacular and unnerving.
David Stephenson explores the making of his work and the ideas behind it at Talking Pictures.
