The Forge Pyramid

After Cybertron's reformatting, sparks began appearing all over the planet. It took a while for most bots to realize this, since they were busy with... well, everything else at the time.

One bot, however, was on the case almost immediately.

Deep within the Toraxxis Plains slept a Titan, one who had laid dormant since before the war left Cybertron. Trypticon, roused from slumber by the planet's revitalization, began sniffing out the new sparks and collecting them within their vast frame.

Eventually, the people of Staricon figured out that bots were among the life that had returned in the wilds. Different groups with different intentions set out to find them, as fresh, impressionable bots would make an invaluable resource as Cybertronian society forged itself anew.

Trypticon, however, was not about to let that happen unchecked. Every time they would make their way to a hot spot, they would find that someone else had gotten to it before them. Following protocols instilled in them since their own forging, the Titan used their innate senses to find the sparkfields first, and were already gone by the time the others arrived.

One day, Trypticon approached the city. This was certainly a surprise to the bots of Staricon, and so were the bots Trypticon sent forth as their emissaries -- the Dinobots.

The Dinobots' traversal of the Cybertronian wilds led them to stumble across Trypticon (in the same place that they were once transformed, their alt-modes taking on the monstrous forms of the creatures that resided there) after they had awoken, and ultimately decided to join them in their quest. In particular, Slug managed to make a connection with their fellow "Dinobot", becoming what was essentially Trypticon's Cityspeaker.

When the group arrived at Staricon, they put forth a proposition. Trypticon would release the sparks to them if -- and only if -- they could prove that they could be trusted to take care of them without exploitation. A conference was held, primarily involving Slug (as Trypticon's representative), Arcee (as... insurance, mostly -- there to break up any chance of arguments getting too heated), Windblade (as Metroplex's representative), and Starscream (Cybertron's leader).

Eventually, a consensus was reached. A facility would be constructed with the purpose of setting the sparklings of Cybertron up for success, with large inspiration taken from Caminus's Lighthouse. Trypticon would hand over the sparks they had collected, as well as provide teams with the locations of new sparkfields as they appeared. The sparks would then be brought online in batches, tended to throughout the process by Blacksmiths (largely from Caminus and some of the other colonies at first, as the art had been largely lost among Cybertronians), and then educated for a time in a variety of subjects by a diverse group of bots, before being released into society.

It is nestled within Trypticon, who set up in city mode on the outskirts of Staricon. The Dinobots have taken it upon themselves to act as its security force, continuing their role as the sparks' protectors, and Arcee was thrust into the position of "headmaster" of the facility. Though capable as protectors, as representatives the Dinobots were found... abrasive; they already trusted Arcee, and since she was involved in the meetings anyway, she was deemed the prime candidate to represent the Forge Pyramid. Arcee was reluctant to take on a leadership role, but ultimately acquiesced.

And thus, one of Cybertron's most important locations was born: The Forge Pyramid.

It is here, several years later, that a bot comes online under peculiar circumstances. As they -- alongside three of their classmates -- prepare to enter the world in full, they begin to discover more about themselves and the world around them... and perhaps, uncover truths thought lost long ago.

The City of Staricon

The city of Staricon, as one might have surmised, was built over the ruins of the former capital, Iacon. Well, actually, it is built upon Metroplex, who laid down to rest atop the ruins of Iacon after being severely weakened and damaged in the conflict of the war's final battle.

Starscream rechristened it in his own honor as a part of the changes implemented when he took rein, and thus Staricon was born. Thing is, some people didn't really get (or especially, didn't really care about) the name change, so it's called anything from Staricon to Stariacon to Iacon, or simply "the city" (since no other major settlements currently exist on the planet) depending on who you ask.

The city is broken down (unofficially) into four quadrants: the Upper District, the Middle District, the Lower District, and... the Trypticon District.

While the Upper and Middle Districts sit squarely within Metroplex's legs "borders" -- and house most of the major structures and places of import for Cybertronians -- the other two are a bit different.

Metroplex was not the only Titan around, and also not the only one to provide structure for the people of Cybertron to start over. Reawakened from their slumber by the planet's revitalization -- specifically, the appearance of new sparks -- Trypticon rejoined Cybertronian civilization as an addition to the "city proper" formed by Metroplex.

Trypticon's agreement to do so relied primarily upon the treatment of the new generation of bots. From these negotiations (and through the representation of their new Cityspeaker, Slug), the Forge Pyramid came to be: a facility where sparks are taken to be tended to until maturation, educated in a safe environment, and then released to join the rest of society.

In addition to the Forge Pyramid, Trypticon has become the premier hub for Cybertronian immigrants. Most of the colony worlds were primarily populated by bots, but some planets such as Nebulon and (of course) Earth are home to organic life. Particularly given the involvement of Earth with the Cybertronian race in the last few decades, there is a sizeable population of humans on Cybertron and vice versa. The Cybertronian-Earth Embassy resides there, as does "The Mall".

"The Mall" within Trypticon was dubbed such by a group of BotBots, who had originated within what they called "The Mall" on Earth. Once they came out of hiding, many of The Mall's inhabitants moved to Cybertron and named their settlement after their first home. The name apparently caught on, as the other residents of Trypticon rolled with it. There is a shopping mall within The Mall called The Mall, but the larger area is also known as The Mall. So is the one back on Earth. Simple, right?

(The Trypticon District is also home to another subset of small bots, but we'll get to that another time.)

Because of the strong presence of humans, Nebulans, and other non-mechanical species, the district is sometimes called the "Organic District", sometimes derisively by those who still hold anti-organic sentiment. Similarly, the Lower District is often referred to by another name: the "Decepticon Ghetto", or simply "the ghetto".

After the war, the Autobots were the de facto winners, mostly because they managed to rally before the Decepticons. (Later, the official disbandment of the Decepticons by Megatron more or less secured that win, but that's for another time.) Throughout the restructuring of Cybertron's leadership, the Decepticons never really had the upper hand. Even those who chose to doff their badges at Starscream's decree were treated more poorly than than the Autobots that did the same. Many found themselves having to settle on the outskirts of Metroplex, amid ruins and junkyards -- and thus the ghetto was born.

Part of Trypticon's reasoning for settling on the other side of the Lower District instead of closer to the rest of the city was to provide the ghetto with easier access to resources, as well as force travel through the area (and thereby force the other bots to face it, and perhaps do something about it).
