toko and hiro!! had soo much fun desigining them, toko in particular
toko is the ultimate exorcist/medium. she's been able to perceive the supernatural since childhood
instead of dealing with her garbage parents she got taken in by a temple. but she got teased in school anyways for seeing ghosts/living in a temple so she's still pretty distrustful
sometimes the spirits she meets try to possess her, which is a lot easier to do than she'd like it to be. she sticks talismans to herself
hiro is the ultimate writer. he specializes in murder mysteries, sci-fi, and supernatural thrillers
is infamous for having stories that have predicted events to startling accuracy by chance. including world-changing inventions, supernatural phenomena, and murders. he's been involved in more investigations and hauntings than he'd like to talk about
has been stalked before by fans, people who think he can tell the future, police forces and criminal organizations enough to be a little paranoid. but tries to be easygoing all the same
#toko fukawa#yasuhiro hagakure#danganronpa#danganronpa trigger happy havoc#designed toko after me in middle school. drawing stars on my fucked up shoes and sitting like L from death note#we have got to get this kid on T#hiro is wearing a prayer beads bracelet. gift from his mom after his first debut horror novel#he's also wearing a final destination t shirt lol#my arts#lmao you can really see my art style changing from post to post...literally impossible to tell how something will look next!!#roleswap au#sorry no syo design i uh. forgor </3 i'll draw that freak eventually

pop stars aren't born in the 70s anymore like they used to be. These days they're born in a year uncomfortably close to my own which makes me clutch my chest and cry out
#music#musicians#Nia Archives was on radio the other day going 'my album's the first jungle album to be nominated for the Mercury Prize in over 25 years#that's such an honour! The last one was Roni Size and I wasn't even born then' --hang on a minute#that album was like. 1997. 'I wasn't even born yet'?#Folks she is a year older than me đ(â€ïž but also personally đ)#Cat Burns' Mercury shortlisted album is called 'early twenties'. It is a term I am told I can no longer use for myself.#She says 'the album was a 4-year long process. I started writing it when I was 20.' Cat Burns is my age.#CMAT. Dublin's 'global superstar'. 1997. Literally she's such a classic popstar/country star I'd have expected to read like '1987' or somet#not in terms of saying she's old or anything; just that that seems appropriate for someone who's in control of their career#CMAT is like 2 years older than I am. It's so wild to me#especially this time! There have been a lot of debut albums you see#and I'm really proud of all these--I suppose at my age I'm allowed to say--kids; my peers? But it's also so strange to see#My peers are at the Mercuries. Declan McKenna is like a year older than me#That has been in my head ever since Brazil came out. He was 15. I was 14.#sigh it's a long road to either acceptance or such radical change that I 'catch up' with everyone; whatever that means#yes I'm well aware that comparison isn't a thing to do. I know it's not productive.#I try not to let it get me anxious; afterall what do I do about it?#It's not like I've got the ball rolling on anything significant to speak of. I'm just at ordinary work#idk also the industry I work in doesn't exist anymore hahahaaaa so yeah. No career. Only far away admirations! :)#We will have no infrastructure and we will be happy.#Don't read all this; just laugh at the meme about age and move on#growing up

(drags myself in, covered in blood) first chapter of Deadname... edited
#deadname is my debut novel if u arent up to date on silas lore#ive talked about it here and there before but it's about a college kid who is a ritual sacrifice who comes back from the sacrifice#with telekinesis and has lost all ability to sleep. i used to call it echotrance book but now it has a name#HOOO boy almost lost my mind in the beginning bc i was so convinced it was fucking awful and then i remembered some--#--of the kindle unlimited books ive read and how absolutely dogshit they are and i was like you know what. this is better than them at leas#and they have like 4 to 5 star ratings from all their really weird friends who think their typo-riddled military-glorifying plotless book--#--rules so if they can do it. by god i know i can too

With the context of the Book of Bill and the characterisation of Bill, I ended up finding that all the members of the Zodiac have a thing or two in common with Bill Cipher.
Six fingered hand-Stanford Pines
-Both have a genetic mutation which they got ostracized for but made them interested in the worlds beyond.
- Both are egocentric and smart.
-Both have a thirst for revenge to prove the people around them they were wrong about them.
-Both didn't mean to endanger their dimension (Ford wanted knowledge and Bill wanted to show them the stars)
-Animals aren't safe around them (Ford set a bird on fire by mistaking it as a Phoenix and Bill ripped out a deer's teeth in his debut and in the storyboards of Weirdmageddon P1 he uses a deer to forcibly kiss Ford's statue as if they were his Barbie and Ken)
-Both have a weird sense of humor
-Both are considered criminals in the multiverse (Theft in Ford's case and Manslaughther, Murder alongside other stuff like mass property destruction in Bill's case)
-Both project onto others they see as similar to themselves (Bill with Ford-and on a minor scale Pacifica-and Ford with Dipper)
-Both ended up getting tricked by a conman (Ford by Bill and Bill by Stanley)
-Both are authors! (The Journals and the Book Of Bill, which are essentially diaries that talked about what their lives were, a bit about themselves and the creatures they found through their life)
Crescent symbol/Fish-Stanley Pines
-Both are scammers
-Both share mannerisms, one of them being referring to Ford as Sixer(which led to people theorizing Stan was Bill's reincarnation)
-Bad relationship with their parents but seem closer with their mom (Bill's parents tried to make him blind to the 3rd dimension but it seems Bill genuinely loved his mama Scalene while Fildbrick didn't value Stan as much as Ford and Caryn was the only one worried about Stanley and was one of the 2 persons that assisted his fake funeral)
-Both were seen as a bad kid growing up (Bill by the people on his dimension due to his mutation and the habilities this granted him while Stan was seen as lesser than Ford due to the latter's gigantic IQ and his rebellious nature)
-Both made one mistake that heavily affected the course of their lives and can never return home because of it (Stan ruining FordÂŽs project and Bill setting his home ablaze)
-Both didn't mean to push Ford away from them nor put their families in any danger initially(Bill wanted Ford to continue with the portal and got sad after their fallout and Stan did what he did in a moment where he wasnt thinking rationally and it cost him 30 years of loneliness and guilt)
-Both went to jail on different occassions (Stan on Colombia and Bill after going on a rampage in the bar while drunk after the fallout with Ford and the Theraprism if you wanna add it)
-Both tend show only 1 eye to people as well as a cane (Bill only has 1-although he can shapeshift and have multiples as seen in his demon form- and he uses the cane mostly in Dreamscappers, a bit in Sock Opera and in the intro for Weirdmageddon while Stan uses a patch and an 8 ball cane for tourists during his mystery man persona)
-Both used their art to influence people (Stan with the Mystery Shack's attractions and Bill using animation and figurines which failed, unlike Stan's works, unless you count the Lil' Stanley comic)
-Both have used a red demon costume once (Bill in the book and Stan in a picture in Gideon Rises)
-Both wanted to set the journals on fire (with Bill actually doing it in Weirdmageddon Part 1)
-They find Dipper's disstress/fear and annoyance hilarious (Stan teasing him vs Bill terrorizing him)
Glasses-Fiddleford McGucket
-Both end up going insane after a traumatic event (The destruction of his home dimension in Bill's case and McGucket taking a peek into Bill eating his own exoskeleton after crossing the portal)
-The times they helped/aided people it ended bad for them (In McGucket's case, Dipper with his new voice and the Gideon Bot that ended up getting destroyed in the scuffle with Dipper and in Bill's case; Dipper became Bill's puppet and Gideon didn't get the Shack's signature hence he had to use dynamite as a plan B and Weirdmaggedon only lasted 4-5 days for the Henchmaniacs while in McGuckets case's Shacktron didn't survive against Bill as they didn't consider protecting the arms and legs the same way that the Shack was protected)
-Both played a part in the creation of secret societies (Fiddleford by creating The Societyvof the Blind Eye and Bill by the Ciphertologists and inderectly creating the Anti-Bill Cipher society by terrorizing 4 persons)
-Underneath all that insanity and very deep in that broken mind, there is one very smart broken guy.
-Both lost their families (At least Fiddleford could reconciliate with some of it but Bill doesnÂŽt have the same chance anymore)
Bag of ice-Wendy Courdory
-Both are rebellious and dislike authority figures.
-They like to do what they want with no regard for rules
-Both abused their power on more than one occasion (Wendy by stealing snacks and throwing water balloons at the elderly when working at the pool and Bill throughout his deals and in Weirdmageddon)
-They've had guts to face powerfull creatures (Bill the Time Baby and Wendy stuff like the ShapeShifter, the Unicorns or the Eye Bats in Weirdmageddon)
-Both lost a mom when they were young.
Questioning Mark-Soos RamĂrez
-Both are smarter than what they look like upon first sight.
-Both lack a dad (Bill's died while Soos's left him)
-They have a funny side to them (Bill more leaning to sadism though)
-Both had their eyes damaged by Mabel (Soos by getting attacked with glitter in Stan Is Not What He Seems and Bill by getting sprayed with graffiti paint in Weirdmageddon Part 3)
Stiched heart-Robbie Valentino
-Both had their relationships ruined by their own arrogance, negligence and dishonesty (Bill being an abusive partner while Robbie was immature).
-They did not take the fallout with their partner well (at least Robbie would never dare to do anything similar to what Bill did)
-They tried to pursue their partner after the break up but to no avail (Bill with threaths and later on with offers of power and Robbie by using music as seen in Gideon Rises and both actually using messanges-Bill wasting Ford's Post-it notes and Robbie sad emails and texts to Wendy)
-Both are good with music (Bill can play the piano and xylophone as seen in his apology video and Robbie can play the guitar and both can sing)
-Both insulted Soos or referred to him in condescending ways (Robbie called him Big Dude and Bill adressed him as "the fat one")
-Both had beef with a 12 year old and wanted to harm them (Robbie wanted to fist fight a child aka Dipper and Bill planned to commit suicide in Dipper's body, turn the mystery twins into corpses, disassamble their molecules and almost kills Mabel in the series finale)
'Both got turned to stone at one point in Weirdmageddon (Robbie when it started and Bill at the end of it)
One eyed Pentagram-Gideon Gleeful
-Having too much power that they acquired at a young age which heavily affected them and began their rise to villainy
-Both have a hatred towards Stanley Pines for meddling with their plans to obtain absolute power and ultimatetly ruining their plans which ended with them in prison.
-Both burnt a picture of the object of their affections; destroying the section with the rest of their family and leaving their faces untouched.
-Both planned to use Mabel and Dipper to get one of the original mystery twins to give them what they wanted
-Both left the Pines Twin they were interested on imprisoned during Weirdmageddon.
-Both deep down craved adoration and attention.
-Both lead a gang of criminals but dont treat them with a much respect as the one Pines Twin they are pining on while hating the other twins for thinking they turned them away from them when in reality it was their actions that did.
-Both got punched in the face by a Pines Twin in a season Finale inside someoneÂŽs head (Gideon Bot's and Stanley's)
-Both seem to care about their appearance (Gideon worrying about his hair the most and Bill about his bowtie, given the scream he lets out when Dipper blasts him and him readjusting it a couple of times during Weirdmageddon)
-Both ended up in prison after acquiring a position of absolute power where they do art therapy
-Both are snappy dressers and use their charm to trick people
Llama-Pacifica Northwest
-Both had messy childhoods that turned them into who they are now.
-Both are pretty good liars and can trick people very easily (Bill with his deals and Pacifica in the Lost Legends comic)
-Both look down on people they see as inferior to them(Bill with humans and Pacifica with the working class, hillbillies and the Pines before the events of The mystery of the Northwest mansion and Weirdmageddon)
-Both see themselves as monsters that cause havoc no matter where they go or what they do (Pacifica in dreams and Bill due to what he did in his home)
-Both were forced by their parents to act in a certain way (BillÂŽs at least loved him and were good intentioned)
-Both are fighters (Pacifica by defying her parents wishes, facing against the ghost and the face stealer in Lost Legends and refusing Bill's deal in her dream and Bill could stand a fight with Shacktron which he ended up defeating and in his book its implied he can fight easily against demons or ghosts)
-Both have wore a crown (Pacifica in her debut episode and Bill in his portrait in the Penthouse suite of the Fearamid)
Shooting Star-Mabel Pines
-Both are agents of Chaos (Mabel being Chaotic Good/Neutral and Bill Chaotic Evil).
-Both enjoy partying and to have fun.
-Both have a wild imagination and a sense of style.
-Both like karaoke and have had a karaoke night with one of the original mystery twins
-Both have eaten stuff normal people shouldn't eat/gross things(Bill his exoskeleton and illegal punch and Mabel getting wasted with Smile Dip, a leaf, huge amounts of sugar that would end with her sick, Mabel juice and she once got hospitalized by eating sniff and scratch stickers)
-Both like makeovers (as seen in a part of the book of Bill where he talks about hiding the blood of his past)
-Both think highly of themselves (Bill's bottomless ego vs Mabel being secure about her talents, qualities and appearance)
-Both have social skills that made others attracted to them, mostly loners or freaks (Bill with his Henchmaniacs for their shared love of chaos and Ford with his smarts and cosmical knowledge and Mabel with Candy and Greta by being weirdos and not being as popular as Pacifica and her posse)
-Both adress Ford as "Fordsy"
-Both have rolled in the grass in Gravity Falls(Bill while possesing Ford during puppet hour and Mabel in Tourist Trapped)
-Both put their wants over other people's and/or their needs (Like in Sock Opera but even if Mabel is sometimes selfish at least apologizes and learns from her mistakes while Bill doesn't care who he hurts and would never apologize)
-Both use white out to exclude certain stuff they dont like from reading material to "fix it" or crayons/markers to cross them (Mabel with the dialog in the Comix Up story in Lost Legends or certain things such as her summer romances and in the MabelÂŽs guide to color with the picture and Bill with a section where part of The Great Gatsby is shown on his book where he mentions assigned reading or stuff like his exes and his former friend The Oracle/Seven eyes)
-Both became gods of destruction, first time by accident and the second with full intention(Mabel by accident with the rift and ending with MabelLand and Bill with the accidental destruction of his home and with Weirdmageddon)
-You could argue they're awfull when it comes to romance (Mabel's attempts always end in failure and Bill fumbled Ford so so hard)
Pine Tree-Dipper Mason Pines
-Both are good at decoding codes and solving mysteries and have good academic skills.
-Both didn't have many friends growing up and were picked on as kids (Bill for his mutation and Dipper for his birthmark)
-The times they wanted to prove themselves to others ended badly for them (Dipper caused a zombie apocalypse and Bill destroyed his dimension by accident)
-The names they use aren't their real names (Bill confirmed in an AMA years ago that Bill Cipher is just a name he picked so humans could converse with him without going bonkers upon first contact and Dipper's name is actually Mason but everyone refers to him as Dipper due to his birthmark)
-Has cloned himself (Bill's are a natural hability for him while Dipper made copies of himself via paper-rest in piece Tyrone)
-Both were adorable as babies.
-Both got obsessed with someone to the point of messing with their personal lifes (Dipper with Wendy during her relationship with Robbie and Bill with Ford and his relationship with McGucket)
-They changed hats at different points in their life; Dipper in Tourist Trapped changes from his green hat with a five point star to the classic blue pine tree while Bill sported a multicolor hat as a kid before changing into a tophat (if we take the theory that Bill's hat was originally his father's then both Dipper's and Bill's were owned by a family member before being passed on to them, Dipper's belonging to Stan)
I know this is probably just a coincidence (save the stuff with Ford as some were meant to highlight the bond these two had and establish parallels between the two, making them doomed soulmates and adding another layer of sadness over the toxic yaoi) but a fun one still.
Thanks for reading!

Conrad Veidt (The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, The Man Who Laughs)â oh my god look at him in Caligari. I specifically said that he's from this because him as Cesare is just. MMMMM. he's so wet and sad and scrungly. and little. he's like a kitten left alone in a dark alley except he's also killed people (not his fault). something wrong with him (Cesare). as for Conrad himself. oh my god look at him... them big ole eyes and the walk of some fucking thing creature
Gene Wilder (Bonnie and Clyde, The Producers)âGene Wilder's first starring role was a pathetic little guy who was lured into committing crimes and panicked about it, then continued committing the same crimes in prison!
This is round 4 of the contest. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. If youâre confused on what a scrungle is, or any of the rules of the contest, click here.
[additional submitted propaganda + scrungly videos under the cut]
Conrad Veidt:
youtube
I mean just look at him. The wet cat energy. The ghostly eyes. He did the monster mash before anybody. Where would we be today without him, he even has one (1) song on spotify. I regularly forget he's dead and wonder what his next movie will be. He slays in any role. The Ultimate Skrunkle.
He's the ultimate scrungly to me, the basis for many of our scrungly guys today. he's so skinny and pale and he wears so much eye makeup
He was THE bisexual goth tumblr sexyman of early film. Seriously the old timey Tumblrinas would send him fanmail about wanting him to choke them. He inspired the designs for the Joker and Jafar, and was nicknamed the âDemon of the Silver Screenâ for his horror roles. His first wife divorced him for crossdressing. Hitler sent him hate mail for speaking out about antisemitism. He really loved his wife and told the Germans to go fuck themselves when they threatened his job if he didnât divorce her for being Jewish. Just look at me and tell me this guy isnât scrungly heâs like a personification of the emo kid from Horton hears a who
[cw the below clip depicts assault/abduction and could be scary for some viewers]

Gene Wilder:

"As I pull together submissions in my mind, I keep finding myself with the question "Is he scrungly or just Jewish?" And I worry. What is scrungly, if it depends on sidestepping Hollywood Leading Lady/Man standards? But by god, Gene Wilder is scrungly."

"Excellently scrungly, even in his debut film. And the Producers requires no explanation. Big this energy":

Controversially Young Girlfriend (part two)
Hugh Jackman x popstar!readerÂ
series masterlist & main masterlist
summary: y/n is a globally beloved pop star. She is known for her talent and dedication towards her craft. Recently, she has also been known for her preference for older men. After a breakup with her former older boyfriend, she had a run in with the hottest dilf right now, Hugh Jackman. Y/n tried to warn him, but what can she say, she has an effect on hot, older men.Â
warnings: age gap (23/55), cursing, y/n used, implied shorter reader, afab reader, she/her pronouns.Â
warnings will change as the story progresses! all descriptions of real people in this story are FAKE. I do not know these people and this is purely fiction. Please let me know if I missed anything!! <3
authors note: I truly appreciate every single one of you who has enjoyed this story and has shown it love. I want to have a slow start to things so I hope everyone appreciates a good slow burn lol. enjoy! <3
part two: pathetic
London was absolutely beautiful. Youâd always dreamed of coming here- simply exploring anywhere out of America really. It was so fun being in a foreign place hearing silly accents all day, you loved it. You wanted nothing more than to do a world tour for your debut album but your label decided to play it safe by only touring around North America. Now that you were here, you dreamed bigger and would try your hardest to gain the fan base it took to have a world tour. Traveling was honestly one of the best perks of being famous.Â
famous
It was a word you were still getting used to as it almost felt shallow to refer to yourself as such. Though it was true. You were famous. Having that interaction with Hugh and Ryan yesterday made the reality sink in even more. Two men who had been in the industry for decades knew who you were, it was mind boggling to put it simply. The embarrassment seemed to keep creeping in when you would remember your interaction between the two men yesterday. The yelp of surprise and the quick, but loud, âholy shitâ that was thrown from your mouth involuntarily made you cringe. Hugh asking about Pedro was something you werenât prepared for at all either. It made sense for him to ask, if he was a close friend of Pedroâs then your name being brought up didnât seem like the oddest thing. However, never meeting Hugh before, you wished the conversation could have been different.Â
Ugh stupid hot, tall, older, Australian man that could sing. He was literally everything you found attractive bundled up into one man. You had a brief obsession with The Greatest Showman, as every theater kid did, but your celebrity crush of the movie was Zac Efron. If only freshman you could see current you, sheâd probably laugh.Â
Hugh had been on your mind all night and hadnât left since you woke up this morning. If you could remember, youâd be certain he was the focus of your dreams too. The following and the comment was shocking to say the least. From Ryanâs words, they were fans but why did he follow you after he had met you instead of before. Ha, as you think about it more, it probably wasnât even him. It was more than likely someone who was hired to run his socials, just like the person on your team that posted that photo for you. You were definitely overthinking it allâŠThis morning when you were brushing your teeth, you kept trying to remember the feeling of his big hand on the base of your spine. It was all a bit pathetic.Â
âHellooooâŠearth to y/n.â Ashley, your best friend, says as she snaps her fingers in front of your face. âAre you going to tell me what has you all spaced out or do I have to deal with you moping around this entire trip?â There's a hint of annoyance in her voice.Â
Ashley has been your best friend since middle school. She was always your number one supporter, so in return, you take her almost everywhere with you. Of course you invited her to London and of course she planned an entire itinerary around your busy work schedule. Her company was appreciated but it was impossible to hide your emotions from her, making moments like this difficult.Â
âIâm sorry. Itâs nothing really, it can wait until later.â If the two of you werenât sitting in the middle of a small cafe, you would have told her every single thought that sat in your brain, but you couldnât. You never knew who was listening in on your conversations. That became something you had to get used to, not being able to exist in public. It usually wasnât too bad, for example, you could sit in a cafe with your best friend but sometimes things got out of hand and you couldnât even walk down the street.
âOkay, you better.â She gave you an understanding nod. âSo, I bought us tickets to go on the London Eye at 2pm then I thought we could go grab a late lunch or dinner, whatever you-â Youâre looking at her and nodding trying your best to pay attention but you canât. You hated the way one singular interaction with Hugh had your entire day scrambled. If you ever saw him again, youâd have to tell him off for being so hot and ruining the fun London trip you had planned.Â
â
The wait for the London Eye ended up taking an extra forty five minutes and Ashley was pissed. She was a very schedule oriented person, one minute off and sheâs stressed the fuck out. The entire time we waited, she complained and would have had the king on the phone if you hadn't stopped her. Her mood was unchanged by the time you stepped into your private cart.
âIf I tell you all of my boy drama, would it make you calm down and enjoy the ride?â You ask slyly as you look down at the water below as the wheel starts to move the bubble youâre sitting in higher.Â
She gasps and her eyes go wide.
âBOY DRAMA???â She screams out, her previous negative mood disappearing and her eyes light up with excitement.
You sigh as you gather your thoughts.Â
âWell..itâs not really drama. I may or may not have a teensy crush on someone.âÂ
âOh my god!! Who is it? Have I met them?âÂ
âUh no. I actually just met him-â Sheâs cutting you off before you can finish your sentence.Â
âYOU SLUT!â She yells, pointing an accusing finger at you.Â
âWhat the hell Ash? I didnât even tell yo-âÂ
âItâs Hugh fucking Jackman isnât it? Stacy said she saw the way you looked at him yesterday. Jesus y/n, you donât even know the guy.â Sheâs rambling on, judgment clear in her voice.Â
âSince when are you and Stacy on talking terms?â You purposely ignore everything else she said. Ashley was jealous of Stacy for awhile. When you asked her about it she claimed that Stacy was trying to steal her best friend away. It took a lot of reassurance that the relationship you had with Stacy was work before friendship- and if she had become a good friend along the way, that was something you werenât going to tell Ashley.Â
âWe can be civil when it comes to concerns for you.âÂ
âAnd what concerns are there lately?âÂ
âHuh⊠Stacy let me in on your little conversation yesterday about swearing off men for a little bit but once Hugh stepped through the door, she said that she could tell that idea was out the window.â Sheâs trying her hardest to keep a straight face but there was a slight smirk peeking through.Â
âOh my fucking god, you guys are so dramatic. Yes heâs fine as FUCK but like you said I dont know him. I probably wonât ever see him again.â You sigh at the end. You really wanted to see him again.Â
âWhat even happened that has you wrapped around his finger already?â You donât speak for a moment as you think about how to say your thoughts without feeling dumb.Â
âPlease donât tell me you only have a crush on him because heâs hotâŠYou take your crushes too far for that.â There's a look of panic resting on her face.Â
âHe uhâŠwellâŠyou know how we took the pictures yesterday for BBC?â You ask and she's nodding. âI thought he looked good but I swear I wasnât thinking anything irrational. It was when we had to take those stupid pictures and he rested his hand on my backâŠAsh, I swear there was a spark or something. It felt so⊠I donât knowâŠso.. right?â The cart youâre in is sitting at the top of the wheel and youâre taking advantage of the view while you wait for Ashley to respond. When she doesnât, you turn to look at her. Sheâs staring blankly at you, giving you slow blinks.Â
âWhat?â Your voice is soft, barely above a whisper.Â
âY/n, how old is he?â Her expression is unchanging.Â
âFifty fiveâŠI googled it last night..â You were feeling ashamed of your behavior. You felt like a kid with a stupid school crush. Pathetic.Â
âHm, thatâs your oldest yet. Whatâs next, eighty or ninety five is probably more to your taste huh?â Sheâs making fun of you and it hurts. You know sheâs never approved of your taste in men but you canât really help it. Itâs not like you block out guys your age, they just donât satisfy you. Theyâre mean, boring, and losers. You wanted a real man. Someone who was established in life and could take care of you.Â
âWhatever..â You let out softly. The cart was nearing the bottom once again and you were ready to be free of the room of gossip and judgment.Â
âY/n⊠you know I only want whatâs best for you. I mean look at what happened with Pedro and all the other men before him.â Sheâs sincere and you understand her point of view but you wished she would understand yours as well.Â
âI know Ash. Itâs just a stupid crush anyways.â It was more of a reminder to yourself rather than to Ashley. She was right, you did have a habit of taking your crushes too far. You always had to try to get the guy who held your attention but you were confident in who you were. Most times it worked but a break from dating was what was best for you.Â
â
To apologize for being mean, Ashley was currently on the phone with some poor worker from one of Gordon Ramsayâs restaurants. She already made a reservation for tomorrow night but thought tonight would be better to cheer you up. You tried to reason with her by telling her that there were plenty of great restaurants in London we could get into tonight, but she insisted on having a very touristy dinner tonight instead of tomorrow, like it made any of a difference.Â
âI know the reservation is for tomorrow but miss y/l/n needs it for tonight.â Her voice is strong and unwavering, determined to get a table tonight. Sheâs been throwing your name around left and right hoping that someone would know who you were. It all felt too pretentious for your liking but you couldnât control Ashley when she was like this.Â
You were sprawled across your hotel bed, scrolling through instagram. The voices inside your head were screaming to look at Hughâs page, just a peak. Last night after you saw the comment, you practically threw your phone across the room, too afraid to look at it again. You're honestly thankful for that reaction because who knows how long you would have stayed awake thinking about it and diving into his life. You did make that quick google search to see just how old he was but that was the end of your exploration.Â
Your fingers moved faster than your brain could process, typing his name into the search bar and clicking his profile the second it popped up. You didnât have to scroll far into his account before your heart started to race. You clicked on a mirror selfie he had posted of him in his wolverine costume with sunglasses on. The pose and the caption really showed his age but for your sick brain, it made everything about him even sexier. You cautiously swiped out of that picture to prevent an accidental like. The next picture to catch your attention was one of Hugh in the trunk of a car. Your eyes almost jump out of your face with your tongue rolling onto the ground like the cartoons. The size of his arm was insane. You werenât one to go for muscular men, but Hugh could choke you out with that arm any time he wanted to. His smile was so dreamy. You hadnât seen Deadpool and Wolverine yet, not really having interest before, but now you might have to take a solo trip to the movies. You were cooked.
âThank you, Iâm glad we were able to come to an agreement. Yes tonight at 8pm.â Ashley is hanging up the phone and lets out a high pitched squeal.Â
âHow do you do that?â Youâve always been amazed at her negotiating skills and her ability to get whatever she wants.Â
âNatural talent..also having a famous bestie doesnât hurt.â She giggles and checks the time. Her laughter turns to a gasp. âWe have to get ready, itâs already 6pm!â Sheâs gathering her things and as sheâs rushing out of the door, sheâs telling you that sheâll be back soon to get dolled up together.Â
You had to learn how to style yourself over the past year of being in the limelight. Fashion was something you had been interested in but in Minden, if you dressed too out of the ordinary, people would stare. You shied away from it for longer than necessary and only recently learned how to express yourself freely thanks to your stylist, Kat. For dinner, you picked out a lengthy fitted black dress. It had the prettiest floral pattern that covered it with butterflies popping up here and there. What sold you on the dress though were the two frilly pieces of fabric that hung on either side of the dress. It was stunning and it looked even better on you. You decided on letting your hair sit in its natural state, not caring to put much effort into it.Â
When Ashley came tumbling back into your room, wearing a red fitted dress, the two of you put some music on and got to work. You werenât going for a super complicated makeup look, simply deciding on a small winged eyeliner, mascara, a dark blood red lip stain, and a hint of blush. Layering a few necklaces and adding some hooped earrings, your look was almost complete. All that was left were a pair of black heels that had two strings that you effortlessly swirled around your calf tying it into a cute bow at the top.Â
âYou look smoking hot! Let me take a picture of you.â Ashley whistles and grabs your phone to take a few shots. She was right, you looked good. You decided to post one of the pictures of your instagram story with a small caption that said âdinner time đâ.Â
What you loved about Ashley is that she took your fame with a grain of salt most of the time. When you wanted to take an uber or taxi somewhere, she never complained. You often got tired of taking private cars everywhere, wanting a little normality when you could get it. The uber ride over was a quiet one, both of you too focused on the view outside of your own windows, soaking in the reality of being in Europe.Â
The restaurant was gorgeous. It wasnât over the top fancy with normal everyday people littering the dining area, it was nice. Ashley and yourself were in quiet conversation as you looked over the menu. Feeling adventurous, you asked the waitress what she recommended and you ended up ordering the dish. Sipping on your espresso martini, you took a moment to feel grateful for the life you got to live.Â
âOh you have got to be kidding me.â Ashley is sighing with a slight roll of her eyes.Â
âGood evening y/n.â A voice is approaching behind you before you could question Ashleys sudden annoyance. It was a voice you recognized, hearing it the day before. You turn around to see Hugh standing behind your left shoulder and you stand up to greet him properly. Youâve gotten accustomed to hugging almost everyone you meet nowadays, you lean in without thinking.Â
âOh my god! Hi Hugh.â There's a big grin on your face. It felt like a sign that you were seeing him again.Â
âI donât want to bother you ladies for too long. I recognized your dress and wanted to come say hi. I also wanted to apologize for bringing up Pedro yesterday, it was rude of me to do without even introducing myself first.â He lets out in his gruff voice, accent strong. His arm and yours are still interlocked in a weird side hug type of position.Â
âItâs totally fine, you didnât know.â You look into his eyes with utmost sincerity. âOh uh, this is my best friend Ashley. Ashley, this is Hugh.â He breaks the side hug to reach to shake Ashleyâs hand.Â
âNice to meet you.â Hugh lets out and Ashley responds with a short âyou too.â You give her a look that says âbe niceâ.Â
âWell, Iâll get out of your hair. It was really nice seeing you again sweetheart.â He smiles down at you.
âIt was nice seeing you again as well.âÂ
âHere let me.â Heâs motioning to your chair. You take a seat and he's pushing it forward for you.Â
âThank you.â Looking back at him with a shy smile. He gives your shoulder a squeeze of acknowledgment and heâs walking away.Â
âMaybe the universe does want you with a man old enough to be your grandfather. I mean what are the fucking odds of running into him at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant.â Ashley lets out in total disbelief.Â
You donât say anything, you give a sly shrug instead. The rest of the dinner is tame. The food was delicious and you felt woozy from the martinis youâd been downing. Ashley let you know half way through the dinner that Hugh was sitting not to far from us and that he âhad a fucking staring problemâ, her words exactly. It made you giddy to think he was looking over here and if you begged Ashley to trade seats with you it was no one else's business. She obviously refused and you spent the rest of your time focusing on your friend, with Hugh sitting in the corner of your mind.Â
When you got back to the hotel, you immediately stripped yourself from your heels and dress. Laying in the bed in nothing but your undergarments, you opened instagram and took a look at your story one more time, wanting to see just how good you looked. It was shallow for sure but it made you feel good. You saw the hearts flooding the bottom of the screen and decided to swipe up to see who had liked it. As you scrolled nothing really caught your attention until that name caught your eye again.
âI recognized your dress and wanted to come say hi.âÂ
What the actual fuck.

Safe Harbor (Alessia X Singer!R)
Summary: R is a very famous singer at the end of a very long, very crazy tour. Alessia is there to take care of her.
Warmings: Established D/s dynamics. The use of Daddy, and Collars. No smut.
You knew that you were living a dream.
You knew that millions of people would trade everything to be in the position you were in.Â
They would do anything to have stadiums scream their name and for their songs to play on the radio for the world to hear.Â
You had been plucked out of obscurity after you unsuspectingly played a bar in Leeds in front of Ed Sheeran when you were 16. A year and a half later you had taken Billboard's Hot 100 by storm, broken the record for most weeks at number one by a new artist⊠twice, and you were opening for Taylor Swiftâs 1989 tour.
That had just been the beginning.Â
Now you were on your 3rd world tour, selling out stadiums for yourself, with one of the best-selling albums of all time.Â
It was⊠crazy that a kid from Maidstone who barely had enough to eat growing up had thousands of people screaming your name every night, singing your lyrics back to you like they were anthems.Â
Your music was raw, personal. Painfully autobiographical.Â
Your fans picked apart every lyric, dissecting your words with obsessive precision. The heartbreak, the loss, the fear woven into every trackâthey clung to it like it was their story, too. Before You Go, Say Something, Thinking Out Loudâeach song became a window into your soul. And they were desperate to see more.
It was why your first album had gone platinum overnight, and every album after it had debuted at number 1.Â
They resonated with your honesty, and thatâs what made people fall in love with it.
You had expected that part.Â
What you hadnât expected was that they hadnât just fallen in love with the musicâthey had fallen in love with you.
The girl with the sunny personality, and the commanding stage presence. The girl who smiled brightly at every meet-and-greet, made them laugh at every interview, and always took time to meet fans, even after long days in the studio or on music video sets. They built you up as their idol, their friend, their fantasy. They flirted with you in meet-and-greets before you were 18 and treated you like you belonged to them. Like they were entitled to every part of you.
At some point, you became an enigmaâY/N Y/L/N, the nine-time Grammy winner. The infallible pop star. The face that was painted on the side of billboards, and smiling in Colgate commercials.Â
At some point, just Y/n failed to exist to them, and you liked it that way.Â
You did well to dodge their invasive questions, running interviewers around in circles, and answering fans with witty remarks to avoid answering. And over the years (and through 4 albums), you only got better at preventing the fans from learning anything of substance about your private life. The only glimpses they got were through your music, and you liked to keep it that way.Â
You did your best to keep it that way.
The only time you let them get close, let the world peek behind the curtain, was during the piano set of your concerts.Â
It was dubbed the surprise song set by the fans even though 2 of 3 songs never changed. It was where you sang your most emotional songs, and where you let yourself be vulnerable. Open. Real.Â
Tonight was no different. Or at least, you were trying to convince yourself of that.
You sucked in a long breath, your fingers tracing the black and white keys as the final chords of Bruises echoed through the stadium, curling off the walls and over the crowd. Their energy buzzed around you, rolling like an ocean wave.
You could feel it crashing against your chest, adding to the adrenaline bubbling through your veins.Â
You took another deep breath, the air catching in your throat as you tried to control your breathing enough so you could talk. So you could give your signature speech before revealing the night's surprise song.Â
Maybe tonight was different.Â
You felt more⊠exposed.
More⊠vulnerable.Â
This year was nothing short of a whirlwind. Eighty sold-out shows across the U.S. in the summer, followed by another thirty in Europe and the UK. Three back-to-back number-one singlesâno small featâonly knocked from the top spot after 18 weeks by Taylor Swift herself.
It was amazing and incredible and exhausting all rolled together.Â
You dearly loved your fans, their passion, and their devotion, but you were drained.Â
Your eyes slid closed, allowing the bone-deep weariness to cut through the buzz from the crowd for just a second as you pulled your fingers from the keys, briefly rubbing the leather braided bracelet around your wrist as you reset for the next song.
It was the closest thing youâd had to your girlfriend's touch in nearly 2 months, and it wasnât nearly enough. One soft touch from her would make it all melt away.Â
One touch and she would take away the burden of control that had plagued you since you started the tour.Â
You would finally be able to let go and just be. Â
There were only 6 songs left and then you would be with her, your lighthouse on rocky seas. Your anchor on stormy nights.Â
You took another deep breath.Â
It was the last show of an incredible year, and you had something very very special planned.
Something no one would see coming.Â
Your eyes blinked open as the crowd noise dipped, and you painted your signature smirk on your face as you leaned back toward the mic.Â
âSo Wembley, how are we feeling?â You asked into the microphone, smiling widely at the roar from the audience that met you. âFantastic,â
You brought your fingers to the piano, letting them dance delicately across the keys. They had no particular rhythm, though they were in the key that your surprise song would be in.Â
You wanted to avoid giving the surprise away yet.Â
âSo you know, I was thinking about what song I was going to play tonight, trying to figure out which one would be the perfect end to such an amazing tour,â You couldnât help the little laugh that left you as the audience got impossibly louder, cheering out an indistinguishable mix of song titles that you had yet to play on this tour. You paused for a long second, feeling their cheers only grow, popping your in-ear monitor out for effect.Â
It was endearing really, how into it they got (especially when you found out that they had created an entire fantasy league about what version of your outfits you would wear and what songs you would sing). They made it easy to pretend like you were having the time of your life instead of fantasizing about what you would be doing in 40 minutes.Â
You shook your head, popping the monitor back into your ear and your fingers returning to the keys, letting their chants fill you up, and drive you forward.Â
âAnd I was talking to one of my favorite people,â You continued, starting to pick out a tune that was a bit closer to the song you were going to play. âNow you all know I donât normally take requests, but this being the final night of the Eclipse World Tour, and with such special guests in the audience I couldnât quite say no,âÂ
Your eyes instinctually found Alessia as you hit the opening chord, and though you could see her expression you could feel her gaze burning into you.Â
Seeing through you.Â
Even surrounded by people, her attention was the only one you craved.Â
âItâs a song I havenât played for a long time, so Iâm going to need your help.â You continued, Never breaking eye contact with her. âWill you help me tonight Wembley?â
The crowd roared in approval, and goosebumps erupted on your skin at the sheer energy they projected at you. It filled your chest and fueled your fingers as you finally hit the signature piano riff that opened the song.
You flashed the crowd your signature smirk, all essence of yourself slipping beneath your on-stage persona.Â
And when you opened your mouth to sing the first line; it felt easy. It felt right.
Have you ever fed a lover with just your handsÂ
Closed your eyes and trusted
Just trustedÂ
*****
Watching you perform was magic.Â
It had always been magic.Â
Whether it was a show in Wembley in front of 100,000 people, or one when you were small with a guitar the same size as you, Alessia had always been mesmerized by you. Even before the two of you were old enough to put names to what you were feeling.Â
It didnât matter that she had seen you play thousands (hundreds of thousands) of times, nor that this was not her first time attending one of the shows on this tour.Â
She leaned forward on the barricade separating the VIP tent from the Floor sections as you began to play the piano break.Â
âSheâs incredible,â Leah said, leaning closer to Alessia to be heard above the crowd. âTheyâre eating out of the palm of her hand,â
Alessia hummed. âShe is,â
The audience was glued to every move, every breath you took on stage. She was too, and so were all of her teammates.Â
What made it even better was that you were hers, and she got to enjoy you from her favorite seat in the house.Â
They hadnât originally been slated to be in the VIP tent.
Viv had organized the tickets, picking an area on the 2nd balcony because they were the only ones left. Alessia had gone along with it, only mentioning to you that 800$ was crazy for a 2nd tier balcony ticket in passing.
You had sleepily agreed, cursing Ticketmaster and reminding Alessia of the 10-hour meetings you had endured when your fans crashed the site during pre-sale. You hadnât said anything about it since, so she assumed you had forgotten.Â
You did not forget.Â
There had been a team waiting to escort them when they arrived, and you had made sure the tent was loaded with all of their favorites. You had also refunded the tickets, and given them away to 23 fans outside of the stadium.Â
You liked to do things for her. It was a way for you to serve her even from a distance, and she enjoyed telling you how good you were afterward.Â
She definitely had plans to do that tonight.Â
She leaned forward on the barrier as you got to the final chorus.Â
There was a reason this spot was always her favorite to watch the show from, and why she had been hesitant when they escorted her and her friends to the tent.Â
They were close to the stage. Close enough that Alessia could see the cracks in your carefully crafted facade.Â
She could see the dark circles under your eyes, and how your smile never met your eyes. She could see the slight curl of your shoulders, and how you kept twisting your bracelet tightly around your wrist.Â
She could see the command you had of the crowd wearing on you, and just how in your head you were.Â
All of her instincts told her to protect you. To wrap you up, and take the reigns so you could just exist without thinking. So you could submit and know that she would take care of you.Â
And sure, her teammates had caught glimpses of the dynamic between the two of you, but you both liked to keep the heavier aspects to yourselves.
It was harder for her to do that when she had watched the toll this tour had taken on you, and knew just how close you were to being able to let go.Â
âIs it just me or does she look shattered,â Katie asked as the song came to an end, the final note ringing around the stadium as your eyes once again closed and you sucked in air through your nose.Â
Alessia didnât take her eyes away from you. âNot just you,â
She followed the rapid rise and fall of your chest, and how your fingers silently fluttered over the keys before you began to play again.Â
âSheâs barely slept at all this week because of end-of-tour meetings,â Alessia continued as you began picking out a new tune. âAnd sheâs been co-producing an album that comes out next month, so sheâs barely had time to think, much less do anything else.âÂ
Leah hummed from her other side. âIâm just surprised you havenât stepped in yet.âÂ
Alessia made a low sound in the back of her throat.Â
It was⊠complicated.Â
While Alessia had rules that you followed (even while you were on tour) to help protect both your physical and mental health, you both had boundaries when it came to your careers.Â
She understood that you had responsibilities and that sometimes you had to prioritize work to make everything run smoothly. (She also secretly relished watching you in boss mode, knowing that you would be kneeling at her feet later.)
The agreement you had was that she would only interfere under 2 conditions. First, if you crossed the Limits the two of you had agreed upon years ago without communicating with Alessia first. Second, if you asked.
âTonight I will,â Alessia said as your eyes opened and you leaned back towards the microphone, your fingers dancing along the keys.
âSince we have the incredible women of Arsenal in the audience tonight, I think thereâs one more song we have to do before continuing the show,âÂ
The audience roared in response.Â
Your smile was charming, even as your eyes danced vacantly across the screaming fans in the pit next to the small stage that held your piano.Â
Alessia could imagine the edits that would be online later, the people swearing that your expression was solely meant for them. They would think the way you twisted your bracelet was to show them how much you liked the copies they wore.Â
She shook her head.Â
The chords under your fingers changed, shifting into another familiar tune.Â
North London ForeverÂ
Whatever the Weather
You pulled back from the microphone, tilting your head to the sky as the fans picked up the song all around you.Â
The stage lights swelled around you, illuminating the crowd as they sang for you. Your fingers deftly played the background music for the song.Â
She could understand why it was a tradition for you. Why you always added North London Forever to the last show of your tours, especially when you ended in London.Â
And my heart will leave you neverÂ
My blood will forever
Goosebumps erupted on her skin as the crowd of 100,000 sang the rest of the chorus, and pride swelled in her chest, replacing her worry for just a moment.Â
You wouldnât have done a sing along if you were too far gone.Â
Your relationship was built on trust, and Alessia trusted that you were ok for now. She would step in when the show was over, and you were ready.Â
****
âThank you London,â
The final notes of Shut Up and Dance pounded through the stadium.Â
You held your arms out wide, as if to physically soak in their cheers as the stage lights dimmed, leaving only one shining against your back, silhouetting you for the audience In a perfect replica of your album cover. Then everything went dark, and the platform you had been standing on lowered so you were under the stage.Â
âGreat show Y/n,â Your tour manager, Aubrey, said as you stepped off the lift, the crowd noise barely fading.
You nodded in response, your tongue suddenly feeling too heavy in your mouth to form words. it felt like you were trying to think through an old television with terrible reception, the images staticy and broken. Fatigue settled into your bones, heavy and cold.Â
A soft robe was draped over your shoulders by one of the production crew, and you twisted the bracelet around your wrist until the edges cut into your skin.
You focused on the pain, letting it ground you as you put one foot in front of the other and allowed your team to guide you from beneath the stage.Â
your security team flanked you the second you were out from under the stage, acting like a protective wall.Â
âYou need to rehydrate.â Steve, your head of security said, pressing a blue Gatorade into your fingers.
They instinctively closed around the bottle, and Steve nudged you again to get you to bring it to your lips.Â
âSmall sips kid,â Clint added from your other side, as the third member of your security team, Natasha, made eye contact with Steve
You tried to follow their directions, but your hands were shaking so badly you almost dropped the drink.Â
You felt Powerful.Â
You felt⊠floaty.
It was so⊠weird. It usually took you hours to come down from the high of a show, and devolve into⊠whatever this was.Â
To finally give in and call your girlfriend for help.Â
You had been⊠reluctant to bother her in the last few weeks.Â
She had been busy with international friendlies, and you didnât exactly like exploring your dynamic while you were separated.Â
Dropping into sub space was hard for you on a good day, guided by Alessiaâs firm but comforting presence. Doing it while the two of you were doing long distance was a painful impossibility.Â
The few times it had actually worked were misery for you. Like your brain was made of broken glass and no one was there to help you knit the fractured shards back together.Â
Even with her voice on the other end of a video call, it had been brutal.Â
You had put it off, and put it off, and now it seemed that your body wasnât going to give you a choice.Â
âIâll be back.â Natasha said, turning on her heel as Steve shifted to shield you from the people buzzing around backstage.Â
You didnât even acknowledge her, blinking slowly as cling helped you bring the bottle of Gatorade to your lips.Â
âTake deep breaths.â Clint said gently. âWe have to get to the tunnel.â
You tried, but it was like you were under water, or sucking air through a straw.Â
You were crashing, and you still had to face the public one last time before you could let go.Â
You swallowed hard, forcing the fog in your brain away and your signature smirk on your face.Â
It would satisfy the people waiting for you to make your way out from behind the stage and into the safety of the stadium halls, away from prying eyes.
âLetâs go.â You muttered, pushing the Gatorade back towards Steve.Â
It took all of your strength just to utter the word, and you knew it would take every bit of mental fortitude you had to wave at the fans as you passed.Â
But it was required.
It was the least you could do for the people who bought obstructed view seats. A thing you had done for every one of your other shows. A thing fans would absolutely notice if you didnât do it.Â
It didnât matter how much you didnât want to.Â
âLetâs do it.â Clint agreed, positioning his hand on the small of your back, while Steve did the same on your other side.Â
You straightened and squared your shoulders.Â
You could do this one last act for your fans. Then you could let go.Â
*******
âThat show is incredible,â Beth said, leaning against the VIP barricade. âI donât know how she runs around like that for 3 and a half hours,â
âA lot of cardio,â Leah shrugged. âShe released a whole behind the scenes video of how she trained for the tour.â
âThat video felt staged though.â Viv said. âShe was very different then she usually is with us, or you Less,â
The English striker hummed. âShe likes to keep separation between her professional life and her private life.âÂ
âMakes sense.â Katie agreed. âDid you see how many people had braided bracelets in all different colors?â
âI did.â Alessia nodded, her eyes trailing across the area near the stage, looking for your personal assistant. âBut they have no clue what hers actually means. You all know her, but the fans just know the idea of her. Itâs easier to keep it all separated.âÂ
It was strange that she hadnât seen your assistant yet. That she hadnât come to retrieve her and the team.Â
Chloe was usually waiting at the VIP tent to take her backstage before the last fireworks of the show had even finished.Â
It had alarm bells swirling in her brain.Â
âItâs kind of amazing how confident she is on stage.â Beth agreed. âItâs like sheâs 2 different people.âÂ
âSometimes she is.â Alessia trailed off spotting a different redhead coming around the stage. Your security instead of your assistant.Â
It was hard to wrap her head around the dichotomy between your loud, confident persona on stage and the quiet girl she knew you were, and as your career grew, that difference had only gotten larger.Â
Her eyebrows furrowed as Natasha approached them, nodding towards her friends before meeting her eyes. âI need to borrow you, please,â
Katie whistled. âGet it Lessie,âÂ
âGotta get that post concert energy out,â Kyra snickered, and the tear erupted into laughter behind her.Â
She shot a glare towards her cackling team. âOf course,â
Natasha was a part of your personal security. She didnât need words to convey that you needed Alessia, and you needed her now.Â
âAlone please,â Natasha said, her eyes flickering towards the girls who tried to exit the tent with Alessia.Â
The laughter stopped around them, and Alessia nodded once, turning back towards the team.Â
âWeâll catch up with you lot tomorrow?â Alessia said, authority that the team rarely heard leaking into her tone. âWe can do lunch, or maybe Dinner.âÂ
Leah stepped forward and nodded, knowing this was not the time to argue with her. âTell y/n thank you for the tickets and that we send our love,â
âGo take care of your superstar,â Beth nodded towards Natasha.
âI will,â Alessia nodded, stepping out of the tent.Â
She meant it.Â
You had taken care of yourself for most of the tour. It was her turn now.Â
******
You didnât remember how you got to your dressing room. You didnât remember waving to the fans, smiling widely and sending them hand hearts.Â
one second you were backstage, and then you blinked and Steve was gently closing the dressing room door behind you.Â
You paced the room, pushing the dark robe off of your shoulders. You didn't know what to do with yourself.Â
It was too warm and too cold. The dress shirt you wore on stage was too soft and too scratchy. Your mind was racing too fast and moving too slow all at once.Â
your breathing hitched, and you brought your trembling fingers of one and to your lips to prevent the sobs threatening to bubble out. The other tugged useless at your collar, trying to get air. This was not normal. It was rare you dropped, let alone this hard or this deep.Â
It was like quicksand, sucking you into the chaotic spiral deeper, faster, with more force the more you tried to fight it. Your thoughts were a jumbled mess, and your brain was going to rip itself apart trying to untangle them.Â
You were in free fall, plummeting faster than you ever had before with no net to catch you. You had put it off for too long, and now you had no choice.
You knew you needed to do something, but making the decision of what you should do felt impossible.Â
You were done making decisions for the foreseeable future.Â
The sound of the door clicking open and shut again was nearly drowned out by the buzzing in your ears, but you Instinctively turned towards the presence that entered.Â
The air shifted around her as she stood in front of you like a mirage, immediately capturing all of your attention. For just a split second, your racing thoughts went quiet, and you were wholly consumed by her presence. It crackled like a warm fire on a cold day, or like a lightning storm over the sea. You couldn't decide.Â
You didnât want to decide.Â
And you knew you didnât need to.Â
Alessia- No, your Daddy was here and she would take care of everything.Â
Her gaze swept over you, taking in every twitch of your fingers against the buttons of your shirt, and the tremble that snaked its way across your shoulders and down your spine. You felt naked, despite the clothing scratching at your skin.Â
She crossed the room in 3 long strides, her hands catching your wrist before you even registered that she had moved.Â
âThatâs enough, little one.â She said, keeping her voice gentle despite the command clear in it. âYouâve done so well, and Iâm so proud of you, but Iâm here now.â
She carefully unwound your fingers from here they were tearing at your shirt, placing them on her hips before deftly undoing the buttons. âIâve got you. Just take deep breaths for me, love,âÂ
You tried, but it felt like it was stuck in your throat, trapped by the inhuman sound now bubbling past your lips.Â
She carefully slid the thin material of your shirt from your shoulders, and you met her eyes.Â
The sob youâd been holding in finally broke free, your knees weakening as the weight of it all hit you. But before you could completely crumble, Alessiaâs arms were around you, pulling you into her chest. Her scent, her warmth, everything about her surrounded you like a safety net.
Her fingers tangled in your hair, and she rested her cheek on the top of your head. âYouâve done so well, you can relax now. Iâm here with you and Iâm not going anywhere,âÂ
Her other hand ran soothing circles on your back, easing the prickles on your skin like the world's best Aloe. âJust breathe, love.â
Her comforting touch seeped past your skin, settling deep into your bones. It eased the knotted panic in your chest, and dulled the sharp, frantic edges of anxiety that raced through you.Â
âThatâs it little one,â She cooed, her grip on your firm and unyielding. It was tether to reality. An anchor in the crashing storm that was your mind. A lifeline when you were being pulled beneath the tide.
âYouâre safe. Youâre here with me, and I will always keep you safe. Just relax,â
Her voice was as steady as her grip on you. Commanding in a way that couldnât be ignored, but soft enough that it didnât bristle your sensitive instincts. It was a mixture that only Alessia seemed to be able to achieve. A tone she could modulate to perfectly match the situation.Â
You melted into her chest, nodding weakly as your tears slowed. Your entire body shuttered with each inhale, and hitched with each breath you blew out.Â
You were moving past the uncomfortable phase of the drop where your brain felt like a shattered glass mirror, fractured and sharp, and into the lapping warmth that only Alessia seemed to be able to bring you.Â
Alessiaâs hands continued their slow, comforting path up and down your back, her breath even and calm, giving you a rhythm to sync your own to.Â
âThatâs it, little one,â she hummed, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. âYouâre such a good girl for me. Youâve done so well. Just let it all go.â
You whimpered.Â
It felt too raw, too exposed. But Alessia knewâshe always knew.
Her fingers tilted your chin up, forcing you to meet her gaze. Her eyes were soft, but her tone left no room for argument.
âLook at me.â She said, using a finger to gently tilt your chin up. âYouâve done so well being in charge. Youâve run this entire tour, and made so many people happy. Iâm so proud of you, but you can let go now. Let me be in charge for a little while,â She capped the statement with a gentle peck to your lips.Â
You tried to lean in to continue the kiss, but she pulled away.Â
âLater,â She promised, and you nodded once, sinking back into her chest.Â
You understood that she didnât like to start anything while you were like this unless it was well discussed beforehand. While there was any chance that you couldnât consent, or feel like you could remove consent.Â
You werenât sure how long she stood there and held you, rocking gently from side to side and scratching your scalp. Long enough for the storm in your chest to mellow and for your brain to slowly begin knitting itself back together, grounded in the gentle pressure of your girlfriend. Your daddy.
âLetâs get cleaned up and then we can go home,â She said, when you pulled back enough to look at her. âDo you want your collar?âÂ
you nodded against her chest, kissing gently under her chin.Â
âI need a verbal response, little one,â She said, dominance leaking into her tone to help you wade through the thick fog coating the crevices of your brain.Â
It took you a long second to think of the words, and another to push the fog in your mind back enough to actually verbalize them.Â
âYes Daddy,â You said, frowning at how horse and garbled your voice was.Â
she hummed, carefully maneuvering you back towards the door. One hand stayed securely wrapped around you as the other reached into the bag you hadnât seen her enter with and pulled out your soft, brown leather collar.Â
You hadnât seen it since you left for tour, and just the sight was almost enough to send you back into a drop.Â
âEasy,â Alessia murmured, guiding you towards the couch that existed in all of your dressing rooms. She sat you on the edge, and kneeled in front of you so she was slightly shorter than you.Â
She trailed her hand down your arm to the bracelet around your wrist, carefully unclasping it and tucking it into her pocket. She then brought the soft leather of your regular collar to your neck, gently buckling it closed, making sure it wasnât too tight.Â
Your shoulders immediately relaxed, the full weight of her claim settling on you.Â
âLetâs get cleaned up,â She said, catching your hand and standing you up. You went with her easily, leaning your weight on her as she led you to the bathroom.Â
The way she undressed you both and got you settled into the warm water of the shower was familiar, routine even.Â
You could feel yourself settling as she washed your hair, and cleaned your body of the sweat from the show.Â
She touched you like you were delicate, but not like you were fragile, and it was everything you needed to wade back to reality.Â
By the time she was using a towel to dry you off, and slipping one of her old UNC sweatshirts over your head you felt almost like yourself again. Your thoughts didnât hurt anymore, and you were more grounded then you had been.Â
âKneel for me,â She said softly, settling herself on the couch, and placing a pillow at her feet.Â
You hummed, and did as she asked, letting her guide you to lean back on her legs.Â
You sunk into the warmth of her sweatshirt, surrounded by the scent of her perfume as she toweled off your hair and braided It for you.Â
The rhythmic movement of her fingers through your hair and the feeling of safety and Alessia that encompassed you were enough to have your eyelids drooping.Â
You blinked heavily at the knock that sounded on the door, and the blonde head of your head of security poking his head in.Â
Steve didnât look at you, steadfastly keeping his eyes on Alessia. âMiss Russo, we have the car ready whenever you are ready to leave.âÂ
âThank you, Steven,â She said softly, authority still dripping from her tone. âWeâll be out in a few minutes,â
He nodded and closed the door quietly as he exited.Â
âYouâre all done, little one,â Alessia said, rubbing gentle circles in your shoulders, as you leaned further into her, your eyes sliding closed without your permission.Â
They only opened when she shifted behind you, and you turned to look at her sleepily.Â
She smiled gently at you, unable to stop herself from leaning in and pressing a quick peck to your lips.Â
This was her favorite version of you, soft and sleepy, unguarded and completely trusting. It was the version that only she got to see, and she was honored that you had chosen her to be your safe place.Â
âAlright little one,â She said, her finger hooked into the O-ring at the front of your collar, tugging lightly as she stood. âLetâs go home,â

Okay time for the PBS Kids essay
Read it under the cut!
:readmore:
In 1968, before there was PBS Kids proper, there was Mr. Rogerâs Neighborhood. While it came several decades before the childrenâs block, it laid the foundation for the themes and values present in every facet of the networkâs history.
Mr. Roger famously hated childrenâs programming at the time. To him, it all was droll and useless. But he didnât dissuade the medium entirelyâ he saw potential. Potential that led to a few smaller television jobs, and eventually the creation of Mr. Rogerâs neighborhood.
Rogers didnât invent educational TV for children, but he did perfect it. He poured real heart and soul into probably the most sincere, heartfelt program in history.
Honestly, he could have his own essay. The more things you learn about the real man of Mr. Rogers, the more youâll like him.
Anyway, the biggest thing that makes PBS different is the fact that it earns money through grants, fundraisers, and private donorsâ not through sponsorships and merchandise sales. This way, PBS Kids can push programming that it feels is important, rather than programming that merely sells well.
This also means PBS is less afraid of pushing social boundaries. Money doesnât go away when their shows become subjects of debateâ and Mr. Rogers took full advantage of this.
For context, this was 1969. The Jim Crow era had just barely, barely ended. Pool segregation was still very much legal.
youtube
Mr. Rogers sharing a pool and a towel with the Black Mr. Clemmons was a pretty big deal at the timeâ especially on a show made for children.
Rogers was far from the untouchable sacred cow of today. When he was alive, he had a large number of detractors. Letâs just say that scene didnât fly nicely by everyone.
Just one year after the debut of Mr. Rogerâs came Sesame Street.
While Mr. Rogerâs was made for all children, Sesame Street had the explicit goal of supplementing the education of underserved communitiesâ especially inner-city Black (and later Latino) children.
While it was made to be accessible to children of all races and income levels, they definitely went the extra mile to make it something special for inner-city Black and Brown kids. (Why do you think it itâs âSesame Streetâ and not âSesame Cul-de-Sacâ?)
At the time, a wholesome, sweet show set in a brownstone street was practically unheard of.
Jon Stone, the casting director, deliberately sought to make the cast as rich with color as he possibly could, bringing on a huge amount of Black talent such as Loretta Long, Matt Robinson, and Kevin Clash, as well as featuring Black celebrities as guest stars. Later, the show would expand its horizons, bringing on actors from Latino, Asian, Native American, and many more backgrounds.
White actors were and still are a minority on show.
In addition to letters and numbers, the purpose of Sesame Street is clear: make kids of color know that theyâre smart, beautiful, and loved.
youtube
It doesnât get more explicit than this.
I want to point out this comment because itâs funny
Youâre telling me this bitch isnât Hispanic???
Anyway, these two were followed up by Reading Rainbow in 1983. And guess what?
Thatâs right. Non-white focus.
These three shows, (along with other, lesser-known programs like Lamb-Chops Play Along, Newtonâs Apple, and Shining Times Station (who featured Ringo Starr himself?? seriously how did that happen and why does no one talk about it) and some other nostalgic favorites like Bill Nye the Science guy, The Magic Schoolbus, Arthur, and Thomas the Tank Engine) aired on the new PTV block, which evolved into PBS Kids in 1999, bringing along Between the Lions, Dragon Tales, and many more.
Arthur is another stand-out that Iâd like to talk aboutâ it doesnât have the same racial focus of Sesame Street, but it does focus on different income levels. The characters have various housing situations, from apartments to mansions to no home at all.
It also takes cues from Sesame Street and Mr. Rogerâs in regards to talking about tough topics, though as Arthur has a slightly older target audience, it discusses things through stories rather than talking directly to the audience.
Cancer, religion, workplace discrimination, along with current (at the time) events such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina are all discussed on the show.
Another big focus on Arthur is disability. For once, they donât stick a character in a wheelchair and then pretend heâs not in a wheelchair. A striking number of major characters either develop or get diagnosed with physical disabilities and/or neurodivergences, such as asthma, severe food allergies, and dyslexia, and they deal with them in very realistic ways.
A handful of minor characters have more obvious disabilities, and THANK GOD they go beyond the trite messaging of âdisabled people can do everything abled people can do! everyone clap now!â
One episode in particular has the awesome message of âholy shit stop trying to help me all the timeâ itâs patronizing as fuck. I can get around just fine without you stepping on eggshells and trying to be the hero all the fucking timeâ
There are sooo many other shows I could talk about, but I canât write about them all. Iâm definitely gonna point out some more standout ones, though.
Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat
Created by Chinese-American woman Amy Tang
Dragonfly TV
Features a multitude of female and non-white scientists to foster an interest in science with kids in those groups
Maya & Miguel
One of the networkâs first Hispanic-led shows
SciGirls
I shouldnât have to explain what the goal of this one was.
Molly of Denali
When was the last time you saw a show that treated Native Americans as people? Much less a childrenâs show? 90% of the cast is Athabascan, and the show revolves around Athabascan culture, not shying away from topics like boarding schools and modern-day racism. Most of the writers are also Athabascan, and the show even has an official Gwichâin dub!
Itâs this commitment to real, authentic social justice that makes PBS Kids so much different from its competitors. Could you imagine the Paw Patrol dog looking at the camera and earnestly discussing what happened to George Floyd? I donât think soâ but Arthur talked specifically about it, Sesame Street did an hour long special about race in general, and the network itself made a 30 minute special.
youtube
Disney Jr. could never. (Other than trying to teach colorblindness, of course.)
Iâm gonna have to cut this into two parts, since I just hit the image limit

Ahead Of The Curve
Oscar Piastri is ahead of most people his age when it comes to soulmates
Viv's AUgust Event
Lando Norris didn't have a soulmate. Well, no, he just hadn't met them yet. But this was incredibly common amongst Formula One drivers. Carlos hadn't met his soulmate yet, Yuki and Fernando hadn't met there's.
There were some drivers that had. Checo and his wife were soulmates, written in the stars to be together (even if Checo did the nasty with somebody else). Nico and Kevin had found their soulmates and so had Charles and Pierre.
Lando Norris hadn't and he was enjoying it. There was no pressure to find his soulmate.
When he and Carlos were teammates, they were two single, soulmate-less men, enjoying their time together. When he and Daniel were soulmates, it was much the same story.
But then his rookie teammate came along.
Oscar Piastri was hot shit, Lando knew. He was quick, a fierce competitor. When Lando first met Oscar, he found out what kind of teammate he was going to be off track. Kind and wholesome. Plus, this kid was too young to have found his soulmate (it's easy to forget he's not that much younger than Lando).
He was easy to get on with, Lando found out. Plus, he never mentioned a soulmate, never made him feel shitty for not finding his and just having fun.
No, Lando Norris rather liked his new teammate.
***
For the first couple of races she watched from the sofa at home. They were a hard watch, the team struggling, her soulmate not able to finish his first race. She knew how he must have been feeling, couldn't wait to have him home to comfort him.
As soon as the European leg of the Formula One season started, she had made a promise to be there. To watch it as he zipped around the track. The McLaren was still terrible, but there were steady improvements.
Even at the races, she hadn't yet met her soulmates teammate. She knew about Lando Norris, knew that Oscar was a fan of his. She knew he was quick, a future world champion, just like Oscar.
She'd attended several races, but hadn't yet been in the garage. She was Oscar's little secret, and that was the way he wanted to keep it. But he also wanted her there, wishing him good luck before he climbed into the car, watching as he pulled out of the garage.
Silverstone. It was the perfect time to meet Lando Norris. Oscar was treating it as a technical home race, since they lived there, and it was a home race for the team. She figured it was the perfect time to make her debut in the garage.
"C'mon, Osc," she said as she moved her fingers up and down his arm, tickling him slightly. "You spend so much time with him, it's only right I get to meet him."
He kissed the top of her head and pulled her closer. "If you really wanna meet him, you can," he said and rested his head on top of hers. His eyes closed and he took a moment to be close to her. He loved it, his heart felt full when she was close to him.
***
Lando Norris had never had a conversation with Oscar Piastri. He wrongfully assumed that Oscar didn't have a soulmate, never brought it up in conversation.
(Truthfully, Lando assumed Oscar was a virgin. He assumed that the last pair of tits Oscar had seen were when he was still breastfeeding).
He didn't expect Oscar to arrive at the track with his arm wrapped around a girl. She looked at everything in the garage with wide, curious eyes and asked Oscar a million questions, all of which he was happy to answer.
Lando's eyebrows were raised as he approached the two of them. A hook up, maybe. But Oscar didn't seem like the type.
His smile was charming as he held his hand out towards her. He didn't know who she was, but he had plans to get very well acquainted with her.
"Hi," he said as she took his hand. "I'm Lando."
She politely introduced herself and stepped back towards Oscar. Oscar, who knew his teammate well enough to know what he was doing.
Oscar let his hand rest on her shoulder. "Lando," he said calmly, politely. His hand squeezed her shoulder and she turned to grin at him. "I'd like you to meet my soulmate."
Lando's jaw dropped. "No fucking way."

Orange Juice | Leah Williamson
Leah Williamson x reader Where Leah finds you again after a while and decides to help you out This is based on this request Warnings: angst, hurt/comfort, alcohol addiction my masterlist
Football was incredible. Ever since you were a kid, kicking the ball around always made you happy. Your parents thought it was just a phase, that by the time you hit your teens, you'd move on to something else. But that never happened. You earned a scholarship in the US and you only returned to England after establishing yourself as a future star in the NWSL. You had a bright future there, but when Arsenal showed interest, you couldnât say no to the club that made you fall in love with the game.Â
By then, youâd already faced your first injury, you ruptured your ACL at 19.Â
But that was already in the past, now you were in your new club.Â
Leah was the same age as you when you joined the team, so you two clicked right away as the youngest on the team. Then, at 21, you both made your senior debuts for England, Leah as a defender and you as a forward. But shortly after that camp, you tore your hamstring, leaving you out again.Â
And the thing with Leah⊠It wasnât until you were 23 that, after months of innocent flirting and endless scenes of jealousy, you both finally admitted there was something more between you. It was one of the best moments of your life, you were playing great, Leah was playing great too, youâd just confessed how in love you were, and Arsenal was in the race for the league title. But then your body betrayed you again.Â
It happened during a game against Aston Villa in 2021. You were subbed in after 63 minutes, and by the 70th minute, you had to be stretchered off after a bad fall from a collision with one of the players.Â
âY/n!â Leah rushed to see you after the game, her heart racing when she saw you crying in your cubby. âWhat happened?â she asked, a bit calmer when she noticed the ice bandage was on your ankle and not on your knee.Â
âJust a sprain, but a bad oneâ you said, trying to hold back your tears. With the adrenaline now wearing off, the pain was really hitting you. âIâll be out for at least six weeksâ
âYouâll miss the rest of the season,â Leah blurted out. When she saw you hide your face with your shirt and start crying, she realized her mistake. âLove, Iâm sorryâ she said, kneeling beside you, trying to comfort you. âYouâll get through this, I promise,â she whispered, taking your hand and kissing it.Â
You did get through it, but the following season brought another setback, a meniscus injury this time.Â
âEngland striker, Y/n L/n, will undergo surgery and will miss the next European Women's Championship.â
The reporterâs voice echoed in Leahâs head, she still remembered it clearly. It has crushed her, but it hurt even more seeing you on the hospital bed, turning your back on her.
Leah was set to captain the Lionesses while you were stuck on the sidelines, unable to play. It wasnât her fault, but you couldnât help feeling that pang of envy.
You thought youâd seen the worst of it, but when you watched Leah and the rest of your old teammates lift a trophy in a packed Wembley, it broke you.Â
âY/n! Whereâd you go darling?!â Leahâs voice was ecstatic over the phone, with the sound of the girls celebrating in the background. âI tried to find you. Youâve got to come and celebrate with us!â
Leah had no idea you were already back at the house you two shared, the England shirt you wore during the match now lying on the bathroom floor.Â
âI wasnât feeling wellâ you replied, your voice tired.
âHuh? Is it your knee? Want me to bring something for the pain?â
You felt like a selfish jerk for resenting the person you were supposed to love, but you wouldnât take away Leahâs moment. You knew she wouldnât do that to you either.Â
âIâm fine, donât worryâ you lied. âJust go enjoy yourself with the girls, you all deserve it.â you said, fighting back tears. But as soon as Leah said goodbye, you lost it. You cried all night and the next morning, watching them celebrate on tv. You were supposed to be there. You cried so much that your eyes were swollen, making it impossible to hide from Leah that youâd been crying. But, lucky for you (if thatâs what you call it), Leah didnât call you for two days, still celebrating.Â
Her face was everywhere, on tv morning, noon and night.Â
Then, Leahâs sudden fame messed with your relationship. It felt like you were drifting further apart. Interviews, radio shows, tv appearances, her Insta blowing up, it was all too much too fast. She didnât have time to be with you during your recovery, and you werenât up for a holiday in Ibiza with her and the rest of your teammates.Â
The breaking point came during that time, while she was partying in Ibiza. You two had a huge argument when Leah found out youâd skipped your recovery session. Leah could argue for hours when she was convinced she was right, but with a hangover the size of Europe, your upset voice was the last thing she wanted to hear.Â
âWhy do you have to be so damn stubborn?!â Leah was yelling into the phone, while Keira sat nearby, clearly uncomfortable listening to the argument.Â
âI just needed to stay home, away from everything and get some restâ you explained, pinching the bridge of your nose in frustration.Â
âIf you were going to skip the sessions, you couldâve at least come with meâ Leah snapped, pacing back and forth.Â
That really got under your skin. Leah wasnât just upset about you missing the sessions, she was more annoyed that you turned her down.Â
âI miss you,â Leah said, but even Keira could hear how empty that sounded.
Things had been off between you two since before the Euro camp even started.
âYou miss partying with me, which isnât the same,â you shot back. Leah had days off before the trip and couldâve spent time with you, but instead, she kept finding excuses to hang out with the girls.
âAre you seriously saying that?â Leah almost shouted. Keiraâs eyes widened, thinking Leah must still be a bit drunk to be going off like this.
âYou could be here if you missed me. You couldâve come to my sessions, which you know are a nightmare, but instead, youâre partying in Ibiza.â
âFuck, Y/n. I just won the Euros! Of course I want to celebrate. If you knew how great it felt, you wouldnât be saying this shit. Itâs not my fault your stupid knee decided to mess up.â
That was the last straw for Keira, who quickly grabbed the phone from Leahâs hand.
âY/n, Leahâs drunk. She doesnât mean what sheâs saying,â Keira said, giving Leah a stern look.
âTell Leah to go fuck herself,â you snapped.
Leah took that to heart. Twitter was quick to pick up on the videos from that night, showing Leah getting pretty drunk. But what no one knew was that in one of the group chats with the girls, someone had shared a video where Alessia and Ella were laughing, it was silly, and in the background, Leah was dancing way too close with another girl. At first glance, it might not have been obvious, but you knew Leah well enough to recognize her, even in the dark.
When Leah came home from Ibiza, your stuff was gone.
The next season was awkward. Everyone on the team knew thereâd been some drama, but they didnât know the details. It was clear that you and Leah had been together for ages, then suddenly broken up after Ibiza. And some of them knew you had renewed your contract for just one more year.
One day, Lia joined you for lunch, ignoring Leah. âYou know she didnât cheat on me, right?â you said, trying to set the record straight.
Thereâd been rumors flying around that Leah had cheated, but that wasnât true. After seeing that video, you confronted Leah when she called asking why you werenât home. Sheâd sworn on her motherâs life that even though sheâd been with that woman all night, nothing more than a few dances had happened. Leah wasnât a good liar, so you believed her.
âYeah,â Lia said, âbut Keira spilled some stuff, so I know Leah was kind of an idiot with you.â
âI feel like I messed up everyoneâs holiday,â you said with a sigh. You hadnât talked much to the other girls either, and theyâd picked up on your indifference to their Euro win.
âItâs not always easy to celebrate someone elseâs big moment,â Lia said, taking another bite.
The next season didnât get any better for you. Your performance was tanking because of how you were feeling, both physically and mentally, so Leah wasnât shocked to see your name missing from the England squad list again.Â
Leah had already missed the World Cup due to her ACL injury, and while she was in Australia, watching from the stands as her teammates made it to the final, she finally got a taste of how tough it was for you during the Euros. And it hit her, she realized it was probably even harder for you. She was a defender, but you were a striker, the star everyone was watching, the one who scored all the goals. When you got sidelined, replaced by the seasonâs top scorer and other younger players, it was like youâd been forgotten overnight. That hit hard.
You both messed up, that was clear. Leah knew she could have handled things better, and she was determined to make it right as soon as she got back to England. But fixing things wasnât going to be easy.
Leah was hanging out with the team, getting ready for the pre-season meeting, when she noticed something odd. You werenât there, and Jonas had this sad look on his face. Just as she was about to ask where you were, you walked in with crutches and wearing a knee brace.Â
âMorning,â you said as you made your way to the center of the room, with Jonas helping you along.
Leah did a double take. You were in sportswear, but not in the Arsenal kit.
âI donât know if you all heard, but a few weeks ago I blew up my knee,â you said, glancing at Leah with a sad smile.Â
Leahâs heart dropped. That meant youâd torn your ACL and meniscus again, plus your MCL.
âAnd Iâd made it clear that Iâd only renewed for one more season... last season. So...â you said, taking a deep breath and avoiding eye contact with Leah. âIâm retiring, I mean, professionally⊠from football. I wonât be renewing.â You fought back tears, quickly wiping your cheeks with your jersey sleeve. âI just came to say goodbye.â
Leah stayed in her chair while the other girls got up to give you hugs and say their goodbyes. Kim and Jonas noticed what was going on and told everyone to give you and Leah some space.
âHow bad is it?â Leah asked, still sitting, arms crossed, eyes locked on your knee brace. She couldnât believe she hadnât heard about this sooner. She was clearly shocked.
âWell, itâs the second time Iâve messed up this knee,â you said, sinking into a chair a little away from Leah. âThe doctor says Iâll never get back to even 60% of my old self. I donât want to play if I canât give it my all.â
âYou can still do it,â Leah said, her voice firm.
âNo, I canât. My recordâs already bad. What clubâs gonna want a player whoâs always at risk of injury?â you said, rolling your eyes.
âWeâll pay,â Leah insisted.
âYouâre not the club,â you replied with a sarcastic smile. âThey offered me one more season, but theyâll cut my salary. And I donât want to be a burden, not anymore.â
âY/n, an injury doesnât mean your careerâs over,â Leah said, raising her voice a bit. âYou just need to get through this and move on. Just like last time.â
âItâs not that simple,â you snapped, annoyed that Leah wasnât getting it. âDo you really think I can compete with Alessia or Stina? I can barely score more than one goal a month, I can't even run like before, Leah. And thatâs my job!â
âBut-â
âNo!â you cut her off, dropping your crutches in anger. âJust leave me alone. If I want to retire now, thatâs my choice. Iâm not you!â You cried harder. âNobody misses me on the team! Iâm not you!âÂ
Leah bit her lip, struggling to hold back her tears.
âI do miss you,â she admitted, wishing she could find the guts to stand up, walk over, and kiss you to show how she felt. But ironically, the fear of losing you forever left her feeling paralyzed.
âI canât do this,â you said, struggling to stand up. âIf you start talking about us, Iâll take back my decision, and I donât want that. Good luck,â you said, wiping away your tears as you left the room.
That was the last Leah saw of you. Your retirement was lowkey, just an announcement and a few social media posts. Leah found out later that youâd gone back to the States as if youâd never been there at all.
You ended up in the US on a whim, just wanting to forget Leah, Arsenal, England, and football. That had been two years ago. No one knew where you were or cared that you were spending everyday drunk in some bar.Â
You were okay with that.Â
If it werenât for a family matter, youâd still be hiding out there.
Your plan was simple: wrap up your stuff, grab some cash to continue your drinking habits of shitty american beer, and then return. But as soon as you landed, you hit the first bar you saw and pretty much stayed there.
It wasn't uncommon for former (failed) footballers to turn into addicts, and you were no different. Although you had attempted to quit drinking a year ago, when your money was running out, but without any support system in the US you couldnât stay sober for more than a month before heading back to that familiar bar.
You were so drunk you didnât even worry about running into anyone you knew now back in London. The only detail you vaguely recalled, though you were unsure of its significance, was avoiding blonde women. But you didnât think twice about the men.
âJacob,â Leah said, still in shock. Sheâd been sleeping when her brother called, saying he was sure heâd seen you drinking heavily in a bar heâd just arrived at with his friends.
âGlad youâre here,â Jacob said, guiding her to where you were. âShe didnât see me, I wasnât sure how sheâd react, so I wanted to wait until you got here.â He glanced at you as he spoke.
Leahâs heart sank when she saw you. It was definitely you, but you looked totally different, completely out of it and about to pass out on the bar.
âIâll take her home,â Leah said quietly, making her way towards you. âY/n,â she called softly, placing a hand on your shoulder. When you didnât respond, Leah shook you gently and called your name again. âY/n.â
You barely opened your eyes, but you recognized her immediately. âLee,â you mumbled, and tears started rolling down your cheeks, though you didnât really know why.
It wasnât the first time youâd cried while being drunk, and it wasnât the first time youâd cried for Leah while being drunk either.
âHey,â Leah said, gently wiping the tears from your face with her thumbs. She didnât remove her hands, as you were barely able to hold your head up. âLet me help you.â
Leah signaled to Jacob with a nod to help lift you from the other side. As they carried you to the car, Leah couldnât wrap her head around what was going on. Sheâd never seen you this drunk before, not even when you used to drink occasionally during your time together.
With Jacobâs help, Leah got you into the back seat of the car and drove quickly to her home, which had also been yours a few years back.
Leah was totally stuck on what to do now. If it were up to her, sheâd have tossed you in a hot bath to get rid of the alcohol smell, but she didnât want to risk you passing out in the tub.
So, she just put you in the guest room. She placed a towel on your pillow, took off your jacket and shoes, and got you settled in bed. She also left a glass of water and some painkillers for when you woke up.
Next morning, when Leah woke up, the first thing she did was check on you, but she was surprised to find the room empty. The water and pills were still there, She freaked out a little, she couldnât let you slip away again, not this time. She rushed downstairs and, while searching for her car keys, she noticed the kitchen was a mess. All the cupboard doors were open, and there was broken glass on the floor. Then she saw that the door to the backyard was wide open.
Trying to be quiet, she headed outside and found you sitting on the small terrace youâd set up years ago, holding a bottle of wine with your eyes shut.
âIâm awake,â you mumbled without bothering to open your eyes when you heard the door.
âItâs⊠9 amâ Leah said, pulling out her phone, her voice tinged with worry. âIsnât it a bit early to be drinking?â
âItâs for the hangover,â you replied, taking a swig straight from the bottle. Leah looked around, noticing there was no glass or cup in sight. âSorry, the glass broke when I grabbed itâ
Leah stood there with her hands on her hips, looking worried. She had no idea where to start.
âDo you even remember how you ended up here?â Leah asked, stepping closer. She noticed you were shivering, probably from the morning chill. Without hesitation, she took off her hoodie and draped it over your shoulders, relieved when you didnât push her away.
âAh⊠I donât really remember,â you said, trying to force a smile that didnât quite reach your eyes.
âWhatâs going on with you?â Leah asked quietly, almost afraid of the answer.
You shrugged and took another swig from the bottle. Leah was taken aback by how sober you looked despite the drinking. It seemed your tolerance was crazy high.
âWhy did you leave?â Leah asked, gently placing her hand on your knee. At the touch, you jumped up, but the dizziness hit you hard, almost making you fall over. Leah quickly helped you back into your seat. âI wonât touch you again,â she said, holding up both hands as if to show she meant no harm. âIâm just asking you not to run away.â
You stared at Leah for a few seconds, noticing her glazed eyes and the slight tremble in her lower lip. You wanted to get out of there and avoid the whole sad scene, but you knew you wouldnât get far and you didnât even have any money left.
âI donât want to answer any questions,â you muttered, staring at the ground.
âI need to ask a few things,â Leah said, almost reaching out to take your hand but stopping herself just in time. âI havenât seen you in two years. Havenât heard a thing from you.â
âThat was the point. You had enough going on with your stuff. I didnât want to add to it,â you said, trying to avoid her eyes.
âDamn it, Y/n, I never stopped caring about you. Not when we broke up, and not when you disappeared,â Leah said, quickly wiping away a tear. âYeah, we messed up, but we could have fixed things back then, and we still can-â
âNo, Leah.â
âYes, we can-â
âDonât say that. Iâm not sober enough to deal with this,â you said, feeling frustration creeping in.
âThen go take a shower, and weâll talk,â Leah said, her frustration matching yours. Why did you have to be so stubborn all the time?
âIâm not sober,â you repeated, stressing each word and holding her gaze, hoping sheâd get it.
Leah swallowed hard, taking in the mess you were. Your hands were still shaking, and even though she thought your pale skin might just be from the morning, your flushed cheeks and the redness on your nose told a different story. The dark circles under your eyes were deep, making you look worse than sheâd imagined.
Leah always thought she was the heavy drinker between the two of you. Her cabinet was stocked with all kinds of alcohol, and sheâd always found it odd how youâd cringe whenever she brought home a new bottle. She remembered you mentioning a relative with addiction problems back when you werenât even together, but she never thought it would hit you too.
âHave you⊠have you tried to quit?â Leah asked, her voice cracking as she grasped the seriousness of the situation. You nodded slowly, looking down, clearly embarrassed. âCould you try again?â she asked.
This time, you shook your head. âI canât.â
âI can help you,â Leah said, determined.
âI donât want your help,â you said frustrated, trying to get up again but failing.
âY/n, look at yourself,â Leah said, exasperated. âYou canât even stand. Please, let me help you.â
You reluctantly agreed to let her help, mostly to get her to stop pushing. You figured that if you said yes and she saw how messed up you were, sheâd leave you alone. What you didnât remember was how stubborn Leah could be when she was set on something.
Leah couldnât believe she actually managed to get you to go to rehab, but it seemed like it was working after a while. According to the doctor, you were doing great, really putting in the effort in your sessions and activities. So, it didnât take long for you to get the green light for a day out, and of course, Leah was the one youâd spend it with.
âGood morning,â Leah said softly when she saw you. It was wild how you were starting to look more like yourself again.
âMorning,â you replied. It was weird to think that just a few months ago you were alone in the States, drinking day and night. And now Leah was here, smiling at you again. It was something you hadnât realized youâd missed so much.
âIâve got a surprise for you,â Leah said when you two were in her car. âI checked with the doctor because it might be a... sensitive topic for you.â Instantly, your heart raced in panic. Leah noticed your breathing quicken and gently placed her hand on your knee while steering with the other. You placed your hand over hers, and she didnât hesitate to intertwine your fingers. âJust relax,â she said. âI think youâll like it. And if Iâm wrong, just let me know, and weâll forget about it. No big deal.â She stopped at a red light, bringing your hand to her lips and giving it a gentle kiss.
It was something that had always helped you chill out. Even though you werenât together anymore (not physically, at least. Both of you knew those feelings were still there, just waiting for the right time), it still felt good.
When Leah parked the car and you looked out the window, your heart raced again. You were right in front of a football pitch. Leah knew how much your struggles with the end of your career were a trigger for your addiction, so being here wasnât exactly ideal.
âLeah, I donât think-â
âShh,â she said, gently taking your hand to help you out of the car. âJust give it a few minutes, okay? If itâs too much, weâll head back.â She cupped your face, locking eyes with you.
You nodded, holding her hand tightly. Leah didnât say anything, but she could feel the tension in your grip.
You walked together to the middle of the field. It wasnât as big as the one you used to play on, but seeing it made you smile a bit, remembering the good times you had there with Leah.
âI shouldâve been more supportive, you know,â Leah said as you both settled on the grass, still damp from the morning dew. âAfter my injury and the World Cup, I finally realized how lonely you mustâve felt. Part of it was my fault.â
âIt wasnât your fault,â you replied. âYou didnât owe me anything.â
âYou were my girlfriend. I shouldâve been there for you, giving you the support you needed,â Leah said, her tears starting to fall. You hated seeing her cry; it always made you feel awful.
âI was tough to deal with too. I didnât make it easy for you,â you admitted, resting your head on Leahâs shoulder. She turned and kissed your forehead without hesitation.
âDo you think we can get through this?â She whispered.
âI think weâre on the right track.â
Leah nodded and after a few minutes of silence, she stood up. âDonât move,â she said, running back to the car. She came back with a mini football, the kind you can hold in one hand. âWanna play?â she asked with a small, hopeful smile.
You laughed, shaking your head, but took her hand to stand up. The feel of the ball in your hands was weird but you couldnât say no to Leah.
âLetâs warm up before my friends get here,â she said with a smirk. You didnât get what she meant at first, but the excitement of kicking a ball again had you too pumped to question it.
Leahâs friends turned out to be a bunch of 12 year olds who had joined her every week to play football together. There were about seven girls, with the oldest being 13. She was the one who kept glancing at you the whole time.
âExcuse me,â the oldest girl said as they were about to leave after the game ended. âYouâre Y/n L/n, right?â she asked, eyes locked on you.
âJackie!â Leah hurried over and tried to cover the girlâs mouth. âWhat did I say about the questions?â
Leah kept talking to the girl, but you couldnât catch what she was saying. Jackie was 13 now, but she was only 11 when you retired, and probably no older than 7 when you were at your peak. It touched you that she recognized you.
âYeah, thatâs me,â you said, holding Leahâs hand for support. âWhatâs up?â
âYour hair is longer and darker now,â Jackie said, eyeing you closely. âAnd your face is a bit different, but I remember when you kicked that penalty into the goal. I saw it in person!â
âJackie,â Leah said again, but you pulled on her arm.
âDo you really remember?â you asked.
âI do! I saw you play. My sister took me to that game. Even though Arsenal lost, your penalty was the best.â Jackie said, her eyes shining.
Leah watched silently, a big smile on her face as she saw you light up with that familiar spark youâd lost over the years. She let you have a moment with Jackie, impressed by how you were reconnecting with your past. It made her even more certain about the idea sheâd been planning to share with you.
The next weekend, you both were back out on the field with the girls. You spent some time teaching Jackie a few tricks. Your stamina wasnât what it used to be, so Leah gave you a break.Â
âI wish I had the energy of a 12 year old,â Leah said, flopping down next to you on the grass and handing you a bottle of water, but you shook your head.
âIâm good,â you said, pulling out a bottle of orange juice from your bag. Leah looked at you with a raised eyebrow.
âBut you donât like orange juice,â she said, wrinkling her nose as you popped the cap and the citrus scent hit the air.
âYou donât like it,â you said with a grin. âI never hated it.â
âYou never bought it when we lived together,â Leah pointed out.
âThatâs because you didnât like kissing me with juice on my lips,â you teased, sticking your tongue out at her. âYou were always so picky, even with that.â
Leah shook her head, remembering how sheâd pull away in the middle of a kiss if she tasted something like orange juice on your lips.
âIâve been drinking a lot of orange juice lately because plain water gets boring,â you said, putting the bottle away and sitting up straight. You glanced at Leah, who seemed like she wanted to say something.
"Your doctor mentioned you're about to be discharged," Leah said, glancing at you with a curious look.
"Yeah," you replied, a bit embarrassed. "I wanted to talk to you about that too." Leah raised an eyebrow, curious. "I don't have anywhere to stay, and my family's all moved away from London. And I need to keep up with the weekly therapy."
"You can stay with me," Leah said before you could even ask.Â
"Thank you," you said with a relieved smile, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders.
"Can I confess something?" Leah asked, fiddling with the bottle in her hands.
"Sure."
"I'm afraid you'll leave again," she admitted, biting her lip. "You have no reason to stay, and I donât want you to be alone again," she added, reaching for your hand and intertwining your fingers. "Thatâs why I've been thinking about something..."
You felt a bit panicked, knowing what Leah could be thinking.
"Iâm not going to play again-" you started, but Leah cut you off.
"I know, honey," she said, stroking your hand with her thumb. "But I've been thinking...these girls need someone to teach them," she said, nodding toward the group of girls who were too busy fighting over the ball to rest.
"No, Leah-"
"Shh, let me finish," Leah said with a laugh. "It wonât be professional. It'll start as an amateur academy. We just need to build a dressing room, add a few more seats, and recruit some more girls."
"Leah, I'm not a coach," you said, shaking your head. "And running an academy, even an amateur one, costs money."
"Iâve got the money," she assured you. "I'm already talking to some local sponsors. And youâre great with the girls, youâve got experience, and itâll keep you busy doing something you still care about, even if you wonât admit it right now."
"I donât know..."
"Just give it a shot," Leah said, bringing your hand to her lips and giving it a gentle kiss. "If you donât like it, weâll figure out something else."
You took a deep breath, feeling unsure but finally nodded. "Alright, I'll give it a try."
Leah was feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. After all the hard work, the tough times, and a few relapses along the way, today might be the day you could finally move back to her place. But sheâd spent the night taking away every trace of alcohol from the house. Pouring out all those liquor bottles, which had cost her a fortune, felt a bit like a sacrifice, but knowing she was doing it for you made it almost satisfying. Sheâd also packed up all the wine glasses and stashed them in the attic, figuring theyâd be better off out of sight for a while.Â
Sheâd gone a bit overboard with the shopping too, piles of chocolate, different coffee flavors, and gallons of orange juice to cover any cravings you might have. And sheâd moved her medals, trophies, and awards into her bedroom. She figured it would be better to ease you back into things slowly, rather than hitting you with the full weight of her football career all at once.Â
âGood morning,â Leah said as soon as she saw you dragging your suitcase in.
You greeted her with a kiss on the cheek, and she offered to put your suitcase in the car while you settled into the passenger seat.
âIâm really nervous,â you admitted, shifting uncomfortably in the seat.
Leah didnât say much, just reached out her hand. You took it without hesitation, intertwining your fingers with hers for comfort.
âI think itâs best if we skip the game with the girls today,â Leah suggested, seeing you nod in agreement. âAlright then, letâs go home.â
The drive to the house was quiet, neither of you saying a word. Leah held your hand the whole time, even after you two stepped inside.
"I got the guest room ready for you," Leah said, setting your suitcase on the floor.
"Will you come with me?" you asked. Leah nodded immediately, following you to the room. She smiled as you flopped onto the bed. "God, I missed sleeping in a good bed," you said, then looked at Leah, who was leaning against the door frame. "Come here," you said, patting the bed.
Leah kicked off her shoes and lay down next to you. She was a little surprised when you rested your head on her chest, but her hand instinctively went to your hair, stroking it gently. Throughout your rehab, you had been close, but Leah always worried about moving too fast, unsure about what the future held for both of you.
"You've changed a lot," you murmured, closing your eyes and smiling at the scent of Leah's shirt. "I like this side of you."
"What side?" Leah whispered.
"The side that takes care of me. I like you taking care of me."
Leah bit her lip, feeling it tremble a little. "I should have taken better care of you before. Maybe then you wouldn't have left."
"I didn't give you the chance. I didn't want to hear from you."
You both stayed silent for a few minutes, Leah holding you tighter.
"And now? Will you give me a chance to take care of you?"
"Iâm doing that already," you said, lifting yourself up a little to look at her. "Thank you for not letting me leave again." You gave her a soft, short kiss on the lips.
Leah didn't ask for more, didn't move her hands or deepen the kiss. That small contact was enough for her. Trying again would be a slow process, and she didn't want to go back to what you had before. She wanted to start fresh, avoiding the mistakes of the past.
After almost two months, things were looking up.Â
When you woke up, Leah wasn't in bed. You werenât sharing a room yet, but she spent most nights with you, and last night had been one of those.
After showering, you headed to the kitchen and found Leah putting things away in the fridge.Â
"Morning," you said, startling her. She quickly shut the fridge door and looked at you with wide eyes. "Everything okay?" you asked, walking towards her curiously.
"Uh, yeah, everything's fine," she said, taking a step back and letting out a curse as she bumped into the fridge.
"What are you hiding?" you asked, narrowing your eyes at her.
"N-nothing," she said, trying to squirm out of the situation, but you were quicker. You cornered her against the fridge. "Shouldnât you be going? It's your first day of training with the girls," she reminded you.
"I canât leave without my good morning kiss," you said, watching her features soften a little.
"I havenât brushed my teeth," she lied, standing on her tiptoes to keep you from kissing her. She was definitely hiding something.
For a moment, you thought it might be something with alcohol. You'd noticed that all the alcohol in the house was gone, even the liquor filled candy Leah used to eat. But it was early in the morning, and Leah wouldn't be drinking anything with alcohol at that time. You trusted her, she was fully committed to your recovery. On the rare occasions she had a drink, sheâd brush her teeth multiple times before kissing you.Â
Leah thought she'd kept it a secret, but you'd caught her almost drinking the extra mint mouthwash.
So, it was highly unlikely that was the reason she didnât want to kiss you.
"I'll be mad if you don't kiss me," you said, playing your last card.
Leah rolled her eyes but leaned in, brushing her nose against yours before giving you a short kiss. When she felt your tongue graze her lip, she knew she was caught.
"Leah!" you exclaimed, patting her shoulder. "You were drinking my orange juice!"
"I was thirsty," Leah laughed. "I'll grab some more juice for you, I promise," she said, wrapping her arms around your waist. She tried to kiss you again, but you turned your face away, causing her lips to land on your cheek. "Hey, there's no more juice left. Your only chance to have some is kissing me," she said, still holding your waist.
"I hate you," you said, shaking your head before finally kissing her. "You're not supposed to like that juice."
"I think I got so used to tasting it when I kiss you that I've started to like it," Leah said with a grin.
"Did you really drink all my juice?" you asked, almost sadly, resting your head on Leah's shoulder.
"Of course not, love," she said, stroking your back. "I think I bought all the orange juice in London. I can't have my girl without her daily glass of juice."
"Thank you," you murmured, kissing her again.
"I should say that," Leah whispered back.

A little trivia for those that just got introduced to Ultraman thanks to Ultraman Rising
You know that part where baby kaiju Emi is shown a kids cartoon with an earworm of a song?
That cartoon is real!! It's called Kaiju Step Wandabada and it stars cute kid versions of different monsters from different Ultraman series (mostly the original from 1966 wich Rising is also based on). The opening shown in the movie is in stop-motion while the cartoon itself is in 2D.
The Ultraman heroes don't appear in person, but bizarrely enough they seem to exist as fictional superheroes in-universe, with the kaiju kids having toys and dolls of them. It's no surprise Emi liked it so much! She would be right at home in this show!
The episodes are 5 minutes long, there are two seasons of 26 episodes each for a total of 52. The official Tsurubaya channel has the first episodes of both seasons uploaded...

...but the rest were sadly only up for a limited time cuz gotta sell the dvds. What is officially available online right now is a series of educational shorts.
Some years ago Marvel Comics got the rights to make Ultraman comics and made a mini-series called "The Rise of Ultraman" (no relation), and these Kaiju Step designs got to appear as part of in-universe instructional videos about dealing with monsters and aliens:
So let's have a quick rundow on the little monsters and where each comes from:
Pigmon or Pig-chan is the main protagonist and new kid in town (forest). This coral-looking guy is one of the most iconic and recurring ultra monsters and the go-to kid-friendly one, as he stood out among the original set of kaiju for being friendly and heroic (as well as human-sized). He has the bad habit of dying in many of his apperences but fortunately that's not the case here.
Kanegon or Kane-chan is the second member of the protagonist trio, and the most energic and simple-minded. A coin purse monster that eats money, and usually a human kid under a curse. He actually pre-dates Ultraman, appearing in the black-and-white anthology series Ultra Q wich had monsters but not superheroes. Fortunately this one doesn't need to eat money and was born a kaiju.
Alien Dada or Dada-chan is the reliable but temperamental inventor of the trio, he dreams of building a rocket ship. One of the most iconic villains from the original 1966 Ultraman (and that's saying a lot), it's a weird alien with weird powers looking for human subjects for his weird experiments, like testing his shrinking ray. He really earns the name of a weird art movement.
Gomora or Gomo-chan is probably the most iconic ultra kaiju of all. Remember how in Ultraman Rising there is this whole sequence where the dad omniously talks about fighting him? There is a good reason for that. Gomora had the only two-parter in the original 1966 series, and was able to actually defeat Ultraman in their first figh. He's essentially Godzilla if he lived underground rather than underwater (He's even been a good guy and had a robot counterpart). Here, however, Gomora is a chill guy who's passionate about agriculture. (btw, you can also spot Gomora in Rising on a screen around an hour and eight minutes into the movie).
Red King or just Red is another iconic ultra dino, that looks like corn. In the show he's brute but well-meaning, and has a friendly sport rivalry with Kemur-chan. But in the Ultraman series he's a sadistic and murderous bully who beats up weaker monsters but gets his butt kicked rather easily by Ultraman (although more recent incarnations have have been more positive, both in his fighting ability and sometimes even becoming a loving father). (and yes, you are right, he's not red).
Jamira or Jami-chan is a passionate archeologist and fossil collector in the show, whereas in the original Ultraman he was a human astronaut that got infected by a virus. He hasn't appeared much beyond his debut... but doesn't need to, as his episode was very memorable in how sad and tragic it was. I can't imagine the target audience's whiplash seeing this cute creature one moment collecting fossils and the next having a horrible sad death. I guess one could say the same for most of the characters, but this one takes the cake.
Miclas or Mic-chan is the youngest character, a baby, and loves bugs. He was one of the "capsule monsters" from the second ultra series, Ultra Seven. Sometimes the titular ultra wouldn't be able to fight himself so he would summon up to three very loyal monsters from little capsules to do the fighting instead (or at least buy some time, they weren't very strong). One was a triceratops, another was a robot bird, but the most iconic had to be Miclas because really, what even is he? Some kind of bull toad hybrid? (By the way, fun fact, the capsule monsters were one of the inspirations for Pokemon).
King Joe (yes, that's his name) or Joe-chan is a robot controlled by alien invaders and is to Ultra Seven what Gomora is to the original Ultraman: he's the subject of a two-parter and was able to beat the hero to a pulp at first, made harder to fight by his ability to divide into three flying parts. Fortunately this Joe is very shy and very friendly.
Eleking or Ele-chan from Ultra Seven is another of the "mascot" ultra kaiju. If two ultra kaiju have to appear in anything, chances are they will be Gomora and Eleking. In fact, in Ultraman Rising you can see Eleking in a monitor right next to Gomora (around an hour and eight minutes in). It's a dinosaur-like eel monster with (of course) electric powers, and the enforcer of an all-female bug-like alien species set to conquer the earth, that are nonetheless very affectionate towards their pet-weapon dino-eel. The fact that Eleking's masters are always women may explain why the Kaiju Step one is a very femenine and elegant girl despite having King in the name, though no less dangerously electric.
Alien Guts or Guts-chan here is a very little alien bird child who can multiply into three separate individuals to cause all the destruction in their sincere attempts to help out. The original duo from Ultra Seven meanwhile are ruthless alien invaders that are infamous for freaking crucifying the aforementioned hero, leading to decades of japanese media having christian imagery for the sake of looking cool, most notably Neon Genesis Evangelion, because these birds did it first and it looked so cool.
Alien Kemur or Kemu-chan is a very agile alien that comes from the distant future of 2020 to consume humans and extend his lifespan. Here he's a friendly but competitive ninja from the present, and has a rivalry with Red King being the speed to his strenght. Like Kanegon, he pre-dates Ultraman, being from Ultra Q.
Motokureron or Kureron-chan originates from the whimsical, fairy-tale like Ultraman Taro. A kid found him as a baby and fed him until he grew to giant size, but when the kid couldn't feed him anymore he turned destructive; fortunately he was easy to pacify with food, including the kind that made him shrink. He retains his glutonny and clumsiness in Kaiju Step, often doing the bad thing (tm) so the others can teach the kids in the audience why you shouldn't do the bad thing (tm).
Nova or No-chan originates from the surprisingly dark Ultraman Leo. This creepy and bizarre ghost-like alien created a red mist that made people go crazy, and manipulated a kid with illusions of his deceased family, and under his cloth there are lots of tentacles and a scythe. So of course, in Kaiju Step she's a happy and energic little girl that loves to sing.
Mugera or Muge-chan is by far the most obscure kaiju of the cast. She's from the 2001 series Ultraman Cosmos, the one where the titular hero protects monsters instead of fighting them. Mugera is an ET-like cryptid that lives in an amusement park that only kids can see, with the ability to fix toys and heal wounds with her magic. After the amusement park closes down she phones home and the protagonists have to protect her from the goverment wich is a little too eager to shoot down the UFO that came to pick her up. In Kaiju Step she likes reading and plants.
And that was your daily dose of kaiju sugar, that may be overdose because you probably already met Emi. Cheers!

After a recent interview where Iizuka said it was possible for IDW characters to show up in the games, I've seen some discussion about how the characters need to be introduced "the right way" for people who don't read the comics. And, like, this is obviously true to some extent. You want to convey why people unfamiliar with them should care about these characters, instead of just assuming everyone already knows who they are and their whole backstories and everything. (Anyone who's watched Disney+ Star Wars already has some easy examples of times where they were like "you guys already know this character from the cartoons, right?" and casual fans were completely lost.) But I think people are overestimating how much work this would actually take, especially people who argue that the characters need full-blown reintroductions in the games that depict their backstories all over again and treat them as characters Sonic doesn't already know
I think it's easy to forget that not everyone who plays Sonic games has played every Sonic game. Kids especially. Every single major recurring character in the games debuted before today's generation of Sonic kids was born, and as such every new game is someone's introduction to those characters. The games with the introductions for the Chaotix, Blaze, Silver, Omega, Cream, the Babylon Rogues, Fang, Mighty, Ray, etc. are straight up not available at all on modern hardware without resorting to emulation. To many people picking up Team Sonic Racing or Mania or whatever, those characters are already some random characters Sonic apparently already knows from some previous story. These are not things that every single person who picks up a new Sonic game is intimately familiar with. And yet the games don't feel the need to stop and recount their entire backstories every time they appear.
Also, like, even if you have played every single game, Sonic already has a long history of introducing new characters with little to no fanfare, often treating them as characters Sonic has already met. Core characters like Tails, Amy, and Metal Sonic were really just dropped into Genesis era sequels with no explanation for people who didn't read the manual (i.e.: most players). Sonic has a kid sidekick and a girl who has a crush on him and a robot duplicate now, just roll with it. The modern era would continue to do this with characters like the reimagined Team Chaotix, or Orbot and Cubot, who just appeared in the games one day with no setup. We got along just fine.
(This is to say nothing of the nature of the creative medium the IDW characters originate from, where every new comic arc is treated as somebody's first and supporting characters are periodically given reintroductions to get newer readers up to speed. We've been over Whisper's backstory multiple times now.)
Again, obviously I do want characters like Tangle, Whisper, and Surge to show up in the games with compelling introductions that do the characters justice, but I think people are overthinking how much effort that actually takes. You do not need a whole elaborate adaptation of Whisper and Surge's backstories in the games just for them to have a cameo. You can have Sonic already know them, and if the details are even relevant you can convey that stuff in other ways - brief exposition in the dialogue, context clues, in-game character bios, new stories that showcase their important character traits without 1:1 recreating the stories that have already been told, out-of-game promotional videos and animated shorts like the ones they did to get people up to speed on who the hell Fang is, etc. This is pretty basic stuff when writing for a long-running multimedia franchise.
