DBH part 67
Inside of C's room
C laid face down on his pillow after the whole fiasco. He wanted to just be left alone at the moment, but allas, he should have known better.
At the moment as he was drifting off to dreamland, someone knocked on the door. Grumpy, he stood up to open the door, only to find his lil bro standing behind it. The young boy looked at him with innocent eye inquiring if all is well.
The teenage didn't want intent to tell his younger sibling about his day but the more the 2 stayed in the room the more C continued to rant.
Obviously, Se had no clue what he was on about, but he let his big bro pace around his room as he goes on and on how his life has become a Shit show over the last few years. He knows that most of it wasn't his fault but he still cant take a break it seems.
Se walked up to C and gave him some pats on the back. Thats the best he could do at the moment.
While his mood wasnt necessary happy go lucky, he felt a bit better after getting all out of his chest. And, yes. The hugs kind of helped too.
Not to make the situation even more awkward as it already was, C invited Se to go to the park and throw some hoops.
Se wasnt really a good basketball player but C never left him out of his favorite activities.
At the Stanton mansion
Fl sat on his porch, reading the news paper in peace. His interests were on the current stock information.
||JadaJada. More adult stuff. Not important for the main plot||
At the park
Se tried to score a point from the half circle on the playing field, only to miss by a lot. C gave him some encouraging words but that didnt make much difference.
As they were about to leave, their path was blocked by a Group of boys. The leader mocked the child for being bad at throwing a ball into the air. C defended his brother and challenged him to a 1v1. Loser has to do what ever the winner wants.
The game was pretty intense. The other teen was nothing short but impressive. But he was no match for the basketball star in his school.
The leader demanded a rematch. Although, C had already won, he had no objections to humiliated the guy as much as he was able to.
Time and time again, C humbled the other teen until both of them were sweating profusely. Se cheered for his big brothers whenever he scored a point.
The group next to him looked more and more surpised with each game they played.
C walked up to rhe defeated guy, who was laying on the ground as he catched his breath.
C wanted to help him stand up but his hand was grabbed with both of the strangers hands. He told him how amazing he was playing the game, and that he had never faced an opponent as challenging as him. In other words, he acted like a fanboy. His friend group joined in, asking if he is coming tomorrow as well.
C felt extremely uncomfortable the more they insisted. But the group got broken off by Se telling the other guys that C is HIS big BRO, not Theirs. The older boys laughed and apologized what happened at their first encounter.
C took his little sibling at the hand and excused themselves as they walked back home.

Let The Kids Play Only to Lose Another Series
NYY vs. WSH
Game 1
RHP Carlos Rodón returned from the injured list to start the game versus the Washington Nationals and RHP Josiah Gray, a local guy from New Rochelle, NY.
In the top of the third inning, 3B Carter Kieboom hit a solo home run off Rodón, making it 1-0 Nationals.
In the next half inning – the bottom of the third – C Ben Rortvedt hit a solo home run of his own, tying the score 1-1. These would be the only runs that Rodón and Gray would give up, respectively.
In the top of the eighth inning, RHP Tommy Kahnle made two outs before giving up a solo home run to SS CJ Abrams. Kahnle has significantly struggled since the second half of this season, especially after returning from the injured list. More on Kahnle’s numbers later.
The Yankees would go on to lose 2-1 in this game.
Game 2
Struggling RHP Luis Severino of the Yankees would go up against LHP MacKenzie Gore of the Nationals.
DH Aaron Judge got the party started in the bottom of the first inning by hitting a solo home run off Gore, making it 1-0 Yankees.
In the bottom of the second inning, rookie and LF Everson Pereira got an RBI on a fielder’s choice with the Nationals opting and attempting to throw out CF Harrison Bader at home plate. Once Bader was ruled safe, the Yankees extended their lead against the Nationals 2-0.
In the same inning, Judge hit his second home run of the game – a grand slam – off Gore, scoring Pereira, C Kyle Higashioka, 3B Oswald Peraza, and Judge himself. It was now 6-0 Yankees.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, 1B DJ LeMahieu hit a solo home run off LHP Jose A. Ferrer. The Yankees extended their lead to 7-0. Unfortunately, RF Stone Garrett got hurt going after LeMahieu’s HR ball and had to be escorted off the field in a makeshift cast on his leg.
youtube
Later in the same inning, Judge hit his third home run of the game – another solo home run – off Ferrer, extending the lead to 8-0. SS Anthony Volpe soon followed the scoring with an RBI single to CF Alex Call. Bader scored and it was now 9-0 Yankees.
In the top of the ninth inning, 1B Dominic Smith hit a solo home run off LHP Wandy Peralta, putting the Nationals on the scoreboard for the first and only time in this game. The Yankees won 9-1, breaking their nine-game losing streak.
Game 3
Yankees’ RHP Michael King, who wants to become a starter at some point in his MLB career, was used as an extended opener versus the Nationals’ LHP Patrick Corbin.
In the bottom of the first inning, RF Judge picked up right where he left off in the prior game. He hit another home run, a solo shot off Corbin. It was 1-0 Yankees.
In the top of the third inning, DH Joey Meneses reached base on a fielding error by Volpe, causing NJ native and LF Jake Alu to score. It was tied 1-1 with RF Lane Thomas stranded at third base and Meneses at first base. The Yankees avoided further damage in that inning.
In the bottom of the third inning, 2B Gleyber Torres hit a two-run off Corbin, scoring LeMahieu and Torres himself. The Yankees took the lead 3-1.
In the top of the seventh inning, Kahnle – that man again – made a relief appearance. With two out in the inning, Kahnle gave up an RBI to Alu – who was now playing 2B – making it 3-2 Yankees.
With Alu at first, Call hit a two-run home run off Kahnle, causing the Nationals to take the lead against the Yankees at 4-3.
After that, Abrams proceeds to homer off Kahnle once again in this series, extending the Nationals lead to 5-3. While Abrams admired his HR and flipped his bat, Kahnle looked like a psychopath as he stared at the hitter.
After the All-Star Game break, Kahnle’s ERA is near or over six. Maybe Kahnle never fully recovered from his injury because his performance lately has been atrocious.
Moving on to the bottom of the eighth inning, DH Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo home run off RHP Jordan Weems. It was 5-4 Nationals.
In the same inning with two outs, Pereira got his first major league hit, which was a double. Unfortunately, he would be stranded at second when PH Jake Bauers struck out when he came in to hit for Higashioka.
youtube
I understand that the Yankees were trying to pair a left-handed hitter with a right-handed pitcher. However, this was completely the wrong move to make. Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who manager Aaron Boone has benched for all three games in this series, would have been the better move to make.
IFK, as I’ve mentioned in a previous blog post, has an average of over .300 with RISP. He’s the only one who hits over .300 with RISP on the Yankees roster. Plus, from what I understand, IKF does well off the bench as a pinch-hitter.
My question is did IKF get hurt in the last game he played against the Boston Red Sox when he slid into catcher Connor Wong at home plate? Other than letting the kids play or using IFK as a trade piece, why else is he being sat?
Before game one of this series, IKF received the Heart & Hustle award so it’s ironic that he hasn’t played at all recently.
Anyway, in the top of the ninth inning of this game, Meneses hit an RBI single off RHP Clay Holmes. The Nationals extended their lead to 6-4. Holmes is not a closer or holder of late-inning games in any shape or form!
In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Yankees tried to mount a comeback against closer and RHP Kyle Finnegan. Stanton hit an RBI single, scoring Peraza. It was now 6-5 Nationals.
With Torres representing the tying run at second with two outs, Bader – who struck out four times in this game (dawning the golden sombrero) – made contact with the baseball. Unfortunately, it was a flyball out to right field.
The Yankees lost the rubber game to the Nationals 6-5. Again, IFK could’ve been in this situation to pinch-hit for Bader instead of Higashoka since he wasn’t used then.
A side note about this last game is that two erroneous baserunning plays were made. The first one was made by Higashioka after he hit a double in the bottom of the second inning. When Peraza made contact, the ball was hit in between second and third base, yet Higashioka ran toward third and was tagged out.
Peraza reached on a fielder’s choice, only to get picked off in an attempt to steal second. He got into a brief rundown before being tagged out and caught stealing with LeMahieu at-bat. This was the third out and second baserunning mistake.
These brain-fog moments loom large when the Yankees lose a game by one run.
Now, the Yankees are in St. Petersburg, FL about to face the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. In recent Yankees history, they haven’t performed well against the Rays and haven’t for several seasons, especially in road games at Tropicana Field.
I call it “The Garage” because it looks like a large, enclosed warehouse/garage inside.
Anyway, what also scares me about this next series is that the Rays just swept the Colorado Rockies.

Twins Comeback To Beat Yankees!
Twins 4 Yankees 3 W-Pagan (1-0) L-Holmes (0-1) SV-Duran (4)
The Minnesota Twins thumped the Yankees by hitting four home runs and putting up eleven runs last night. The two teams got back at it tonight at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees wasted no time in scoring tonight as Anthony Volpe knocked a Louie Varland fastball out to left-center for a solo home run to start the first. Aaron Judge followed with a blast off a Varland fastball for a solo shot of his own. The back-to-back jacks put New York up by two after an inning of play. Nestor Cortes ran with it through five shutout innings then the Twins solved him a bit in the sixth. Carlos Correa smacked a Corteas fastball out to right for a solo homer to put the Twins on the board. Giancarlo Stanton got that run back in the bottom of the sixth when he smoked a Louie Varland change-up out to left for a solo homer. New York retook a two-run lead in a blink of an eye. The Twins got back to work in the seventh when Kyle Garlick jumped on a Nestor Cortes slider out to left for a solo blast. The Twins continued the comeback effort in the eighth as Michael Taylor dumped a single to shallow right field and Byron Buxton walked. Carlos Correa doubled in a pair and the Twins led 4-3. Jorge Lopez struck out two in a scoreless eighth and Jhoan Duran put up a zero in the ninth as the Twins picked up a comeback win in the Bronx.
-Final Thoughts- Louie Varland was good enough today in his return to the Bronx. He went six innings and allowed three runs on six hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. Emilio Pagan had a 1-2-3 seventh with a strikeout, Jorge Lopez had a scoreless eighth, and Jhoan Duran closed the door in the ninth. Carlos Correa and Jose Miranda had two hits each to lead the team. The Twins hit 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Max Kepler should get activated tomorrow and Joey Gallo is on a rehab assignment and should be back by Tuesday. Tomorrow, Tyler Mahle faces Domingo German in a Saturday matinee.

Giancarlo Stanton has changed positions and may play right field going forward - USAPhilomaths
TAMPA, Fla. — Giancarlo Stanton could play right field in some of the New York Yankees’ home games this year, and Aaron Judge could move to the Bronx’s wider left field. “I think it flows better when I’m in the outfield,” Stanton said Tuesday after the Yankees’ second full squad workout. “Being in the outfield allows me to participate in the game a little more. As a designated hitter, I spend a…

Yankees: I Must Have Missed Something - Wasn't Stanton Set For LF?
Yankees: I Must Have Missed Something – Wasn’t Stanton Set For LF?
Do the Yankees have a new spin on Stanton’s well-advertised but still invisible appearance in left field? Get his $200 million butt out there! The Yankees, as if their season isn’t annoying enough, are at it again. A week ago, Aaron Boone, with no prompting, took it upon himself to say he was ready to make Giancarlo Stanton earn a small portion of the $29 million the Yankees are paying him this…

We’ve Got Your Back (Alpha!Christen x Reader)
Tumblr media
Request: Alpha christen press fic😍 and does it make me a horrible person cuz I want to see what christen would do to Hinkle? (Not to mention broon, uncle, ash....)
Pt. 1
Author’s Note: So this turned out a touch different than i had planned. Let me know what you think!
It was strange being back here. Back in the city, the stadium, that had almost been the sight of your demise. At least they had stuck the team in the visitor’s locker room. You didn’t know if you could have handled being back in that room.
You rolled your shoulders and tapped the ball back towards Lindsey, sending the alpha a tight smile and trying to drown out the sea of unpleasant emotions threatening to pull you under.
It was a stupid idea for Us soccer to have the team face off against the NWSL Allstars. You were part of the NWSL for goodness sake, it wasn’t like you didn’t play against these people already. It also meant you had to play against Her in the stadium she tortured you in.
“How you holding up?” Christen asked, suddenly coming up behind you. She grabbed your clenched hand, coaxing your fingers open and intertwining them with her own. She let out a wave of her calming scent, trying to soothe you as much as she could with minimal contact.
Though the two of you had… consummated your matting, and despite your normal cocky flirting, the two of you really weren’t into public displays of affection and there were thousands of eyes on you right now.
You hadn’t even realized you were digging your fingernails into your palms.
“Great now that you’re here hot stuff,” You tried to smile convincingly back at your mate, squeezing her hand tightly. She let out another wave of her calming scent, her eyes flickering around your face.
One of the first lessons she had learned from Rose was that you never said when you were uncomfortable, but your tells always gave you away.
“Always the charmer,” Christen said, a light blush covering her cheeks.
You smirked at the alpha, shrugging. “It’s hard not to be when you always come out here looking like that”
She rolled her eyes at you, entirely used to your flirting. It hadn’t taken her long to realize that it was a coping mechanism for you. Whenever you were stressed or uncomfortable, your flirting intensified.
It was a way for you to avoid your true emotions.
“I’m literally wearing the same outfit as the rest of the team,”
You pulled your blushing alpha closer to you by your connected hands. You ran your nose over her cheek  “Hmm, but the rest of the team doesn’t have the-,”
The comment died on your lips when you caught sight of a certain alpha. You tensed even though she was stuck on her half of the field, separated from you by nearly the entire squad and the team of “Allstars”. But none of that had mattered last time. It hadn’t mattered that you were in a room full of people (nearly half of which were your national team teammates) or that the coaching staff knew what she was doing.
Christen’s eyes followed yours, and she couldn’t suppress her growl (both for the other player being included in this game and the unpleasant emotions fluttering through your bond).
“Vlatko swapped us, so you can stay on the left today. I’ll take the right and Alex will stay center,”
“You guys don’t need to do that. I can handle it,” You mumbled, suddenly finding the way your cleats ran through the grass incredibly interesting.
Christen sighed, running a finger under your chin, grazing your scent gland as she tilted your chin up. “We know you can, just let us be a little protective over you, alright?”
You nodded biting your lip. You weren’t a weak omega, and you knew that the second you hit the field whatever grand plan they had was going to go right out the window.
Well, part of it at least. You were sure that a certain alpha’s very white uniform was about to be stained very very green.
****
You launched yourself across the pitch towards your mate, barely stopping to watch as your shot sailed past Jane Campbells outstretched fingers. You were having a blast skirting past the all-star defender, and fielding through passes and crosses from the Mewis’ and The great Horan.
“Good goal baby,” Christen said, smiling wildly as she scooped you up in her arms and pressed a kiss to your neck, just above your mating mark.
You pulled back, smiling at the alpha and flicking her lightly on the nose. “Good? That was fucking amazing! Did you see me put Stanton on her ass?”
Christen nodded, setting you back on your feet with a wide smile. “Yeah, and Kling. But I think I’ve seen Tobin do the same footwork before. I call plagiarism,”
You pouted, flicking the side of your alphas head again. “That’s not fair, I deserve a reward,”
Christen grabbed your wrist as it migrated down her waist with an eye roll. “Behave little one,”
She growled playful at you, about to lean up and nip your neck again, but the presence behind her stopped her. You whined loudly, displeased that she had stopped.
“Get your omega under control Press,” You tensed at the alpha’s voice, burying your face in Christen’s neck, afraid that even the scent of Hinkle would make you lose your composure altogether.
Christen's growl turned low and dangerous and was echoed by several of the teammates beginning to crowd around you. When your alpha promised the team would have your back, she meant it.
“Come on Y/n,” Mal said, cautiously breaking from the group to approach you. Her hand carefully touched your back, avoiding any skin. No one wanted to test your alpha's control any more than the asshat on the field was.
Christen made eye contact with the omega inching towards you, tearing her gaze from Hinkle. She nodded at Mal, coaxing you out of her neck and kissing your cheek. “go babydoll,” raising her eyebrow when you wined, but still pushing you towards Mal. You poured as Mal dragged you across the field, away from the brewing storm.
You didn’t need to be in the middle of an alpha battle. You wouldn’t tell anyone, but you were fragile and she didn’t want you to have to feel her dominance when she put Hinkle in her place.
She didn’t want to risk accidentally forcing you to submit. She would die before she did that.
“that one needs a firmer hand,” Hinkle scoffed, as Christen walked back towards her position, waiting for Sheridan to put the ball back into play.
“Why don’t you mind your own business?” Christen growled lowly, her eyes following you as you grossed the field with Mal. Lindsey sent her a stiff not. The entire team was behind you.
“Just saying that I could give you some pointers if you wanted them,” Hinkle shrugged as though she didn’t feel the insane tension on the pitch. Christen scoffed catching her arm, spinning the alpha to look at her. She didn’t need any advice on how to deal with you. You were a handful, but you were her handful, and she was glad you were comfortable enough with her to show her your playful side.
“Don’t waste your breath,” Christen said, letting out her dominant scent.
*****
The Women’s national team was known for its impeccable control. With so many strong alphas in one place, it was imperative for the team's functionality and their commitment to equality.
But tonight that control was nowhere to be found, and it wasn’t just the alphas that were going a little crazy. The pitch was total chaos and at the epicenter was Hinkle.
From the crazy tackles Lindsey, Becky, and Christen herself were committing, to the lengths Rose, Mal, and Alex all went to keep you as far from the Alpha as possible while still letting you put balls on goal. Vlatko’s tactics had gone out the window and the team was operating like a disaster (a very successful disaster as you had already scored 4 times against the all-stars, but a disaster nonetheless). All teeth and growls.
You were just thankful that the game was over, and that you could finally escape the place with so many bad memories. And the mix of dominant pheromones that hung in the air, putting you even more on edge.
You headed back towards the tunnel, uncharacteristically ignoring the opposing team trying to approach you for handshakes, and the fans screaming for your attention. It was unnerving to have your typically dosel alpha acting so aggressive.
It pulled your inner omega so close to the surface, and you weren’t sure how you felt about that.
“You know it’s wrong to ignore your superiors little omega,” The voice stopped you in your tracks. Your shoulders hunched and you seemed to almost fold in on yourself.
An arm wrapped around your waist, shielding you from Hinkle. You relaxed a little at the scent of your best friend's mate. “Just ignore her,” Mal said softly, pulling you into her.
Hinkle snarled at the two of you, rushing forwards to stand right in your path. You took in a sharp breath, your nose twitching at the press of Hinkle’s pheromones. You fought the urge to submit, the urge she had drilled into your skull from the time you joined the Courage to the time you finally made your escape.
“What, your alpha didn’t teach you any manners either,”
Mal tensed around you. You squeezed your eyes shut tight, waiting for the next blast of her potent scent. The one that would bring both of you to your knees. The one from your memories.
“You need to back the fuck off,” Ashlyn’s protective growls were suddenly separating you from Hinkle, shortly joined by Becky, Alex, Rose, and Lindsey.
“Or what?” She challenged, stepping up so she was eye to eye with the much taller alpha.
“Come on girlies, let’s get you to the back, they can handle this,” Ali said softly, trying to pull you and Mal around the wall of alphas and the dominant cloud of pheromones beginning to form. You let her pull you around the alphas, trying to keep your head down.
“No, she stays,” Hinkle sneered, catching your wrist as you passed.
The reaction of the team was instant, but none was more prominent than your own alpha’s (who had been caught up singing posters with Tobin). It was a big No-no to touch someone else’s mate.
“Take your hand off of her. NOW,” Christen growled, sending a wave of very dominant and very terrifying pheromones directly towards Hinkle. Even the little edge that caught you made you freeze and sent a shiver down your spine. The alpha immediately released you and whimpered as she fell to her knees.
Christen smirked viciously (her typical kind-hearted ness nowhere to be found). She was the stronger alpha, and she wanted Hinkle to know how it felt to be forced to submit. She wanted her to feel the humiliation of being surrounded by people who wouldn’t help her. She wanted her to know what she put you through.
Mal and Ali both tucked you into them and started directing you towards the locker room. Emily stepped in behind you, shielding you from where your alpha was towering over the shaking Hinkle.
They were right, you didn’t need to see this.
*****
The walk back to the locker room was short, but it felt like forever. The omegas spent it emitting their soothing scents, trying to calm your frayed nerves (which were only amplified by the emotions fluttering down your bond with Christen).
If the little edges of Christen's dominant pheromones were that strong, you could only imagine what it felt like to be caught in a full blast. That thought alone terrified you. She was always so careful with you, but what if she lost control.
“Shh, kid you’re ok,” An arm wrapped around you and gentle hands guided your shaking form to sit on the bench.
You shook your head rapidly. You were a lot of things right now, but ok wasn’t one of them.
You opened and closed your mouth several times, but no sound would come out. What if you upset your alpha and made her lose control? You loved to push her buttons.
“Hey, You gotta breath y/n,” Mal said, suddenly appearing crouched in front of you. She grabbed your hands, flattening out your palms to prevent your nails from digging further into your arms. She bit her lips at the stressful pheromones pouting off of you, she had only seen you like this once. A very long time ago (ironically in the same place you were now).
“Em, go get Rose,” She said, not taking her eyes off of you. Your best friend was probably the only person who could help you.
Emily’s eyes widened. There was a reason why most of the team’s omegas were in the locker room instead of hanging out in the field with their mates. It was one thing to put an arrogant alpha in their place, and another to risk accidentally forcing an omega to submit.
The team was insanely protective, and going out there while their instincts were on edge wasn’t a good idea.
“I think she’s got her-...” Emily started softly, lightly touching Mal’s shoulder.
“Wasn’t a question,” Mal growled, cutting her off, and finally taking her eyes off of you. You whimpered at the tone, your head tilting slightly and Emily nodded rapidly.
“Right, I’ll go right now,”
She exited the room at a near run. She didn’t quite understand what was wrong, but she knew you desperately needed someone.
****
Emily wasn’t sure what she expected when she exited the tunnel, but it wasn’t Rose and Christen standing over a shaking Hinkle (she would have pegged Ashlyn and Becky as way more likely to get themselves into this situation).
As she approached the group (and the insane cloud of pheromones, seriously they were going to need to fumigate the place)she caught the tail end of Christen's deep rumble. “That’s a despicable excuse for-...”
“I’m sorry to interrupt this-...” Emily said slowly coming up behind her alpha. She kept her eyes down and her hands out, very careful not to provoke the angry hoard any further.
Lindsey whipped around, gulping to try and restrain her instincts. She lightly grabbed her omega’s wrist to prevent her from getting closer to the scene. All hell would break loose if one of the omega’s accidentally got hurt. “Go back to the locker room. We’ll be there after we finish,”
Emily shook her head, finally looking into her alphas eyes. “No. You don’t-“
Lindsey’s eyes hardened as she cut her omega off. “I’m serious Em,”
Emily glared at her alpha, ripping her arm from her grasp. “So am I. I need Rose or Chris because y/n is like having a panic attack,” She practically spat.
She hadn’t known you for as long as Mal had, but she still felt the omega bond with you. The overwhelming urge to protect one of their own when they were in distress. If they needed an alpha to help you, then an alpha she would get, come hell or high water.
Christen and Rose both looked up at the mention of your name, as did the alpha on her knees.  The alphas seemed to blink back to themselves, letting up on their emission of pheromones.
“Pathetic,” the woman on the ground mumbled.
The answering growl from the group was instant, low, and very dangerous. “Don’t you start,” Ashlyn said, her voice deadly soft before looking back up at the two struggling alphas. “Go, we can finish this,”
Rose and Christen nodded, sending one last snarl towards Hinkle before following Emily down the tunnel.
****
Christen took in a sharp breath at your distinct scent, freezing in the doorway. The locker room air was saturated with stressed and terrified pheromones. Any remaining anger she may have felt for the asshole out on the field disappeared and was replaced by worry for you.
Rose moved first, pushing past your frozen mate and joining her omega on the floor in front of you, crouching down to your level. If you noticed newcomers to the room, you didn’t show it. You were stiffly sitting on the bench in the corner, staring off into space.
Rose gently rubbed your knee, trying to bring you back to yourself. “Hey Kitkat, what’s going on?”
You blinked down at the alpha, your head tilting automatically. “Nothing. I’m fine,” you said robotically and Rose’s eyebrows furrowed.
She had only seen you like this once, and that was after-... it was too horrible to even consider.
“Yeah, no one believes that,” She mumbled, using a finger to stop you from showing off your neck.
“I -...” you started, but the words got stuck in your throat, caught between an answer and a sob.
“Did all the pheromones bring back bad memories?” Christen asked, finally taking a step inside the room. She had gotten very good at reading you since you had mated and she knew you better than you knew yourself sometimes.
You nodded, finally looking up at the alpha. Your alpha. You took her in, how she seemed more relaxed (minus the worried lines in her forehead) and her scent was its usual cinnamon and spice.
The heavy dominance was gone. It wasn’t the terrifying figure that had confronted a monster from your past, no this was your Chris.
She took another few slow steps towards you. Rose and Mal moved out of the way to give your alpha room in front of you.
“You’re just so strong. What happens if I push too far?” You asked quietly.
And finally, the pieces clicked in everyone’s heads. Christen shook her head and took your hands. “I would never baby. What you saw-. It’s different with other alphas,”
It was embedded in the fabric of the team (and the countries) culture. You never ever forced an omega to submit, but submission had a different effect on alphas. It wasn’t uncommon for them to assert dominance over each other, and forcing full submission was a way to show an errant alpha bow off base they were. Alphas didn’t experience the emotional distress that came with full-blown submission.
“Promise?” You asked, your voice small.
“With everything I am. You can poke and prod and make me blush, but I will never do what she did to you,” Christen said, kissing the back of your hand and looking you in the eyes to show you just how serious she was.
She waited for your shoulders to relax before releasing a wave of her soothing scent and pulling you into her. You trusted her, and you felt comfortable that she would keep her promise.
If she didn’t you knew about 22 people who would have your back.

Yanks go out w/ a whimper
Watching the performance of the N.Y. Yankees against the Houston Astros was frustrating! Nothing against the Astros- they're an excellent team that knows how 2 finish off an opponent 'On The Brink'. The Yankees just seemed 2 do more damage 2 themselves, than The Astros. Unnecessary Errors gave extra Outs & stretched out Pitchers, which led 2 Astro Runs Scored. Poor Yankee At Bats led 2 Strikeouts & Men Left On Base.
Sportscasters from YES & TBS speculated on factors like fatique, & injuries, but those Players supposedly want 2 play in October- what excuse can U make 4 mailing it in? The Yankees barely made it past the Young & Hungry Cleveland Guardians. Terry Francona has captured lightning in a bottle. I told friends that The Yanks will have 2 step up their game against an Astros Team that has Owned them in recent Years. I didn't see the anger that I saw in Yankee Teams of The Past.
My N.Y. Yankee Experience goes back 2 1976, when they won the A.L. Pennant. That Team was swept by Pete Rose & 'The Big Red Machine', but @ least that Yankee Team put up a fight... I dare say that the 2022 ALC was The Worst Yankee Performance that I ever seen in a Playoff Series; that includes their 2004 Embarrassment. What frustrated me the most, were the Players' attitudes. Where was the Anger? They seemed disappointed, maybe saddened, but not Angry. Anthony Rizzo & Garrett Cole came closest 2 anger. Cole deadpanned that The Astros outplayed The Yanks @ every position, while Rizzo sounded like he's planning 2 test Free Agent Waters, like Aaron Judge.
Aaron Boone's strategy is being called into question. He made a few head scratching moves over The Season, but he's not on the Field, or in the Batter's Box. The Players have 2 own their share of The Blame. The Yankees Post Season Batting Average was below .200. U won't win any Championships like that. Michael Kay sounded like he was fitting Aaron Boone 4 a noose, but injuries caused more harm than expected. Matt Carpenter, DJ. LeMahieu, & Andrew Benintendi were On Fire b4 going on the IL. Aroldis Chapman self destructed. He looked like a spoiled brat, when he was called in 2 pitch ANY inning other than the 9th. I don't expect him back in 2023.
Sportscasters R talking about 'Big Changes' coming in Yankees Universe. They R quick 2 mention Aaron Boone & Brian Cashman, but once again, The Players didn't play up 2 the back of their Baseball Card. Josh Donaldson & Aaron Hicks both had a dismal Season. Isaiah Kiner- Falefa & Glyber Torres were inconsistent. Giancarlo Stanton never got into his rhythm. This is why the Astros made short work of a Yankee Team that competed in previous meetings.
I just wanted Yanks 2 show more Grit; there's no shame in losing, if U gave Ur Best Effort. Not sure if the Yankees can honestly say that. Now, We wait 4 Post Season Theatrics. The Aaron Judge Sweepstakes alone promise 2 B drama filled. Hopefully, Brian Cashman will treat Aaron Judge better than he treated Derek Jeter.

AL WILD CARD GAME: YANKEES AT RED SOX
Tumblr media
Tuesday, October 5th, 2021, at 8:08pm
Broadcasts:
ESPN: Matt Vasgersian, Alex Rodriguez, Buster Olney, and Marly Rivera
ESPN2: Statcast Broadcast: Jason Benetti, Mike Petriello, and Eduardo Perez
Red Sox Pitching
Tumblr media
Nathan Eovaldi will get the ball for the Red Sox to start the game out, and while he has come back to earth a bit from his insane start of the season (specifically with the long ball), Eovaldi is still a dang good pitcher.
Tumblr media
He led the AL in games started, led the AL in FIP, and led the majors in BB/9.
His April/May were unsustainably good, specifically the one home run he allowed over eleven starts, but he’s done an excellent job of limiting walks and throwing strikes. He averaged 16.1 pitches per inning this season, and batters were only ahead in the count ~21% of the time this year. Eovaldi is a flamethrower -- he throws his four seam fastball roughly 42% of the time and it sits at 96mph -- doesn’t have a lot of spin (29th percentile) or vertical movement (10% less drop than average) but it does have 46% more horizontal break (12.2 inches of horizontal movement) to the four seam. He also mixes in a slider vs righties (13.7% of pitches thrown and has average movement) and a curve vs lefties (18.8% of pitches thrown and also has average movement.) Neither pitch gets hit a lot but when the slider does get hit it’s usually for extra bases. He’ll also mix in cutters and splitters -- the splitter is an out pitch and gets a good amount of strikeouts, the cutter is a bad pitch that should get hit hard.
Tumblr media
That is his pitch chart from his most recent start against the Yankees.
Tumblr media
And the chart of when he’s throwing his pitches -- now it’s a good thing for him that he’s getting ahead in the count, because you can see that when he is behind, he’s essentially only throwing fastballs. When batters ARE ahead in the count, they’re slashing .280/.414/.527 against him, which is actually well below MLB league average. He also really struggles the third time through the order:
Tumblr media
So I would assume that Eovaldi goes 4, maybe 5 innings before being pulled for the bullpen.
Nathan also has been significantly worse vs right handed hitters than vs lefties:
Tumblr media
And importantly, has already faced the Yankees six times this season: going 2-2 with a 3.71 ERA in 34 innings -- giving up 38 hits, five home runs, four walks, and striking out 34 batters. That’s a .279/.310/.434 slashline for the Bombers.
Tumblr media
Now, when the Red Sox do end up going to the bullpen, they’ll have a lot of right handed relief options to go to: Garrett Richards, Garret Whitlock, Hirokazu Sawamura, Adam Ottavino, and Matt Barnes. The Sox ended the season with the 13th best bullpen ERA, but the 23rd best bullpen WHIP -- so they’ll let guys on base.
Garret Richards was legitimately bad as a starting pitcher this year, but a move to the bullpen may have revitalized his career:
Tumblr media
He was a guy with two decent pitches -- a four seam fastball and a slider, and by moving to the bullpen he’s been able to increase his fastball velocity and not have to worry about showing other pitches. He still has the 12-6 curve he can pullout in emergencies, but he’s not having to throw a near eephus pitch a couple times an inning just to give guys a different look. Garrett Whitlock is in an interesting situation -- he was one of the best stories in baseball this summer and was looking like one of the best relievers in the AL…until he wasn’t. He started to get hit around a bit in May, and then in September started to really struggle, but its hard to know how much of it is him, and how much of it was his injury. He went on the IL on September 21st with a pectoral strain, but he was activated before the final game of the season for the Red Sox, so it’ll be interesting to see if Cora throws him into the fire with no rehab appearances on Tuesday.
Old friend Adam Ottavino was doing well for the Red Sox this season (if you ignored the lefty/righty splits for the first half of the season) until this September, where in his last 13 appearances he’s given up a 1.152 OPS against and a 7.36 ERA. So yeah, typical Otto! Lastly, Matt Barnes also had a dominating first half of the season before falling off a cliff after the trade deadline, and has a 6.48 ERA since the All Star Break.
Red Sox Lineup
Tumblr media
The good for Boston- this offense is really, really good from top to bottom. The bad for Boston -- JD Martinez sprained his ankle running to the outfield during the last game of the season and Alex Cora said he’s questionable for the Wild Card game. They can just play both Schwarber and Dalbec if that’s the case, but if he does miss the game it would be a huge loss. The other bad news for Boston -- they’re literally the worst team in baseball at fielding. Boston’s defensive efficiency was at .659, meaning that roughly 66% of balls put into play ended up being outs. The next worst team were the Angels at .680, and the Red Sox committed more errors than anyone other than the Marlins. According to Statcast’s Outs Above Average, other than Enrique Hernandez in CF, every Red Sox player was either neutral or bad defensively this season. They have some good arms, especially Hunter Renfroe, but this is a bad defensive team that the Yankees should hopefully take advantage of (Devers and Bogaerts especially are beyond awful.) That said, as bad as Bogaerts and Devers are defensively, they more than make up for that offensively:
Tumblr media
Devers in particular has become one of the game’s best hitters, and might be the best hitting third baseman in the AL.
Tumblr media
And Bogaerts is no slouch either, putting up a monster year of his own at shortstop.
This is a team that also hit Cole hard, and if JD Martinez is able to play, then I’d expect them to start Schwarber at 1b and then use Dalbec as a pinch hitting option late as a counter to either Luetge or Wandy or Chapman. I’d also expect them to call up Jarren Duran, one of the fastest players in baseball, to use as a pinch runner late if they need to.
Fenway Park
Tumblr media
It’s a major hitter’s park -- its currently the second most favorable hitter’s park (behind Coors Field) over the past three seasons, and that’s with it being a below average park for homers. Expect lots of doubles and triples and singles here due to the wonky dimensions and fences. It’s also the #1 left handed hitter’s park.
Yankees Offensive Keys to Success
Make Eovaldi work and get behind in the count, letting them tee off on his fastballs
The lefties have to do work -- whether thats Gardy or Rizzo or Gallo or Wade or Odor or Velazquez, a couple guys from that group have to punish the purely right handed bullpen of the Red Sox.
When the Red Sox let our guys get on base, the team has to take advantage of it -- whether its through stealing bases or productive outs or just not grounding into a double play right away.
Someone other than Judge and Stanton needs to carry some of the load offensively and get a big hit
Yankees Defensive Keys to Success
Cole needs to get through the first inning -- over the course of the season he allowed a .839 OPS against and a 4.80 ERA against in the first inning, and he allowed almost a third of his home runs in the first inning. Get past that first challenge by Devers and he should be good.
Don’t be afraid of giving up the long ball -- it’s better to attack this Boston team and give up some damage then nibble around them and have the big hits count for more than one run. They’re going to get theirs, it just comes down to whether its a couple solo shots or a couple three run bombs.
Don’t worry about the steal -- other than Duran (who’s in the 96th percentile for sprint speed) this is a really slow team that stole the second least amount of bases in baseball. If someone gets on, don’t be overly worried about the runner and get distracted, just focus on getting your outs.
Please catch your pop ups.
Prediction Time
I’m going to say Yankees win this 5-3, mostly because I trust the Yankees bullpen more than Boston’s at this point. If the Red Sox bullpen was clicking like it was in April and May I’d feel differently, but especially in a Wild Card game where starters rarely go more than five innings, it’s just a lot to ask of this Boston bullpen to be able to give good length.

I built a white feminist temple. Now I’m tearing it down.”—Layla Saad
I’ll always be here for Kimberle Crenshaw. She gave a name to the face of compounded oppression that women like me survive on the daily. Women who live in constant danger at the intersection of race and gender. What I was not here for was the concept of intersectional feminism. The notion that white women will magically take accountability for their dismissal, bias, and mean girl spirit and become the kind of gals who are all about passing the mic to black and brown sisters… unheard of.
It wasn’t until I re-read Angela Davis’s Women, Race, & Class that I had a change of heart. A biography about American women’s liberation from slavery to present, Women, Race, & Class uses history and factual resources to spell out what white women have yet to comprehend; their ignorance and apathy towards the struggle of black women has been to the detriment of any could-be collective feminist movement. While white women were exercising their freedom, black women were fighting to stay alive on the plantation field. When black Americans pleaded with white feminists to support their efforts to gain the right for black men to vote, Susan B Anthony spoke against it. She, along with Elizabeth Stanton and a slew of other white feminists demanded that women be granted the right to vote before Blacks, despite the mass lynchings, race riots, and the KKK, which destroyed black communities simply because they had the voting power to do so. White feminists chose self-interest over the lives of black people. This fundamental decision was the beginning of what is now known as white feminism.
I became convinced that Women, Race, & Class would bring about a massive come-to-Jesus moment to white women who failed to see the racial violence in their detachment from non-white women and non-white issues. It was also around this time that I started watching lectures and interviews by Kimberle Crenshaw to learn more about the intersections women experience (gender + race + sexual orientation, gender + race + physical handicap, gender + race + ethnicity).
If intersectionality was a train, I was the conductor. I ranted on and on about both the concept and the term to anyone who would listen. I spoke about it to college students at SUNY Old Westbury. I even created an intersectional book club for cisgender and trans women. I was all in.
Intersectional feminism doesn’t mean anything if white women still struggle to support and advocate for those who’s identities cross intersections that are foreign to theirs.
As the honeymoon wore off, I began to notice some things I hadn’t before. For starters, many white women announced themselves as intersectional feminists, yet, were still completely detached from the lives and issues of cis and trans black women and women of color. I also noticed that black women and women of color weren’t too quick to join the intersectional movement either. Instincts and too many bad experiences in white-centered environments made them very distrustful of intersectional feminism.
As time progressed, any hope that intersectional feminism would be this magical path to racial and cultural harmony between white women and non-white women disappeared. Despite the legion of spaces dedicated to intersectionalism—including my own book club, it always seemed that every environment was divided by race. I know what sisterhood is and I know what white women think sisterhood is; they got it all wrong.
Deep down inside I knew what the problem was, I just didn’t have the heart to admit it. Intersectional feminism doesn’t mean anything if white women still struggle to support and advocate for those who’s identities cross intersections that are foreign to theirs.
Meanwhile, the sisterhood between black women of color and non-black women of color has become increasingly stronger. Social and racial justice warriors are creating spaces exclusively for non-white women, allowing us to exhale, grow, and continue strengthening our collective goals and organic connection. It seemed as though all that time standing on the outside made us realize, “We are in this. Together.”
I was beginning to lose sight of the role white women were supposed to play in this whole intersectional feminist thing when the wrongful arrest of Chikesia Clemons happened.
Chikesia and her cousin Canita were dining at a Waffle House—not the same Waffle House where four Black people were massacred by a white man. A different Waffle House (Stay. Out. Of. Waffle House). After a request for cutlery, Chikesia was told she’d be charged fifty cents for it. Upon challenging this fee, employees did the thing they always do when they’re free to enable white supremacy without judgement: they called the police. This resulted in an unnecessarily aggressive, humiliating arrest that left Ms Clemons face down, hands cuffed, and breasts exposed.
I waited for the moment when white women were going to learn how to pronounce Chikesia’s name and fight for her justice with the same conviction they would fight for their own, Parkland style. I’m not a fool; I expected nothing from white feminists, or even the run-of-the-mill standard feminists—the ones who cap out of convenience rather than conviction. Still, I sincerely expected… something from intersectional feminists. I expected them to show everyone what true sisterhood looks like. No doubt, there were more than a few white women who spoke Chikesia’s name and donated to her GoFundMe’s campaign that’s raising money for her lawyer fees. But, in regard to the collective white woman… *crickets*.
What happened to Chikesia has all the ingredients that require radical feminist action. She was wrongfully arrested. Her body, exposed to the world for every hater and prospective employee to see. The intersection of being a woman in black skin could have cost her her life. Sadly, the women who are in need of protest, protection, and sisterhood most, black women, are the ones who get it least. Even when a black woman creates a term and a concept to describe just how dangerous it is to be a black woman, white women take it, run with it, build over the fundamentals, and save no room for black women. Fucking ironic.
Sure, breaking up is hard to do, but, it’s also healthy. As a black woman who lives in a country that can arrest me for needing to eat with a fork, murder me for not putting out my cigarette, demote me for wearing my hair natural, and do everything to convince me that I’m not pretty, I’m not composed, I’m not smart, I’m not, I’m not, I’m not, I’m not… I’m not putting up with this idea anymore.
I find myself at the end of my intersectional feminist road. It’s time to hop into survival mode, ditch this dumpster fire, and live by a black feminist agenda. One mapped out by the pros. Audre Lorde, bell hooks, Patrisse Cullors, Angela Davis, Kola Boof, and all the other sisters who stay convinced that we need to divest from white feminism and invest in black and brown women, nurture our black magic, and hold one another to a higher esteem.
Black feminism gives me everything I need. Removal of any and all environments that hold no space for me and my sisters, a sisterhood bonded in dedication towards the progress and liberation of all of us, and freedom from the respectability politics that strangle us.
When I live life as a black feminist who’s dedicated to a black feminist agenda, I’m doing all the things that I did before, only, I’m centered inside the collective goal. I can hold space for all my marginalized sisters, rather than feel as though I have to compete with them for the few vacant ‘minority’ slots reserved at intersectional functions. In the words of Gabrielle Union, “I don’t want to be at your table at all. I built a house over there.”
We can’t all be black feminists. It’s something you’re born into, it isn’t acquired. However, we can all and we should all adopt a black feminist agenda. When black women win, mankind wins.
I’ve broken up with plenty of people and things before due to my conviction, but leaving intersectional feminism is way different. It becomes easier to stop loving someone or something when you accept the fact that it does not love you back. At the end of the day, if intersectional feminism holds no space for Chikesia, it damn sure doesn’t care about me.

a father’s day post... some background info on all the boys... this is long im so sorry.sdkgj
   001.  TREVETT.      trev’s  father  was  a  lawyer,  born  into  a  wealthy  family  and  put  through  college  without  struggle.  interactions  between  father  and  son  were  distant,  awkward,  and  founded  solely  on  the  fact  that  larry  allen  wanted  his  son  to  either  follow  in  his  footsteps  in  law  or  pick  another  successful  avenue,  like  the  medical  field  or  football  (  trev  was  built  for  it,  after  all  ).    their  conversations  were  always  brief  and  ended  with  a  confrontation  about  trevett’s  grades  and  future.  he  didn’t  really  know  his  dad  -  the  man  hardly  knew  his  children  either,  absorbed  by  work  and  his  relationship  with  his  wife.  to  him,  they  were  witnesses  on  the  stand  to  be  questioned  coldly  about  their  unaccounted  whereabouts  on  certain  nights.
   002.  MARK.    mark  has  fond  memories  of  his  father  before  he  passed.  joshua  crowe  was  simple  minded  but  full  of  warmth  and  love  and  imparted  his  wisdom  onto  his  son  at  an  early  age.  they  had  long  days  working  on  the  farm  together,  from  sunrise  to  sundown  -  they  had  to  know  how  to  communicate  if  things  were  to  get  done.  as  anyone  can  imagine,  12  year  old  mark  was  devastated  when  his  father  passed  away.  shortly  after  his  father’s  death,  mark’s  sister  karen  was  born  and  he  had  to  pick  the  pieces  up  and  carry  on.  on  father’s  day,  mark  usually  makes  a  weekend  trip  to  el  paso  to  visit  his  father’s  grave  for  the  day,  sitting  to  talk  about  what’s  happening  in  his  life.  he  never  leaves  without  replacing  the  flowers  with  new  ones.
   003.  MARTIN.    arthur  reid  was  a  rambunctious,  fun-loving  father  and  it  was  no  wonder  his  youngest  turned  out  rather  similarly.  he  was  known  for  smoking  pot  with  the  teens  in  the  neighbourhood,  hosting  cookout  parties,  and  getting  shitfaced  throughout  the  entirety  of  the  weekend.  his  wife  had  a  firm  grasp  on  everything  and  she  was  the  only  one  he  ever  listened  to.  sometimes  martin  believed  he  and  his  father  had  the  common  enemy  of  carrie  reid’s  austerity  and  often  trusted  his  father  more  than  his  overbearing  mother.  martin’s  older  brother  seemed  more  mature  than  their  own  father  and  often  it  appeared  arthur  was  just  as  much  a  child  as  his  own.  on  father’s  day,  martin  hosts  a  cookout  for  his  father,  enjoying  his  company  and  making  burgers  on  the  grill.
   004.  GEORGE.    being  born  into  a  rich  southern  family,  george  was  raised  under  the  penny-pinching  bruce  sterling,  a  bitter  and  narrow-minded  man  who  prospered  off  the  work  of  others  and  hardly  did  a  day’s  work.  he  was  greedy  but  proud  of  his  offspring,  pampering  them  with  material  love  rather  than  giving  them  physical  affection.  whatever  they  wanted,  they  received,  hence  why  george  was  gifted  with  expensive  guitar  lessons  at  an  early  age.  sometimes  he  wonders  what  it  would’ve  been  like  if  his  father  was  more  affectionate,  but  it’s  rare  and  he  merely  accepts  his  childhood  as  a  normal  one.
   005.  SCOTT.    unfortunately,  both  scott’s  parents  passed  away  in  a  circus  fire  when  he  was  only  four  and  they  were  put  in  an  orphanage  in  new  york.  they  were  adopted  by  jonathan  stanton  and  his  wife  magdalene  when  he  was  twelve.  scott’s  memories  of  his  adoptive  father  were  fairly  positive  -  the  man  had  grown  up  playing  music  but  left  that  career  to  become  a  doctor  so  when  he  saw  his  son  had  an  affinity  for  guitar,  he  encouraged  scott  to  pick  up  the  instruments  leftover  from  his  own  boyhood.  scott  would  wait  for  his  father  to  come  home  so  he  could  learn  more  about  music  from  him  -  all  of  this  paid  off  plenty  in  the  end  when  scott  went  to  work  as  a  session  musician  at  a  young  age.  he  credits  his  father  for  his  love  of  music  and  never  forgets  to  give  him  a  call  on  father’s  day  to  see  how  he’s  doing.

Twins Smash Yanks 11-2!
Twins 11 Yankees 2 W-Ryan (3-0) L-Brito (2-1)
The Minnesota Twins have started the year (8-4), but injuries have piled up lately. The team headed out on a tough East Coast swing and the first stop was in the Bronx against the Yankees tonight. The Twins quickly loaded the bases in the first inning. Trevor Larnach hit a sac fly to center and the Twins struck first tonight. Jose Miranda then drove in a pair with a double to right-center and the Twins lead grew to three. Donovan Solano followed with a run-scoring double down the right field line to keep the chain moving. Christian Vazquez had a double of his own and Michael Taylor deposited a fastball out to center for a two-run blast. Jhony Brito was out the ballgame and the Twins kept hitting. Eddie Julien drilled a Colten Brewer cutter out to left for a solo homer. The next batter, Carlos Correa smacked a Brewer cutter out to right for a solo shot of his own. The Twins had a nine-run lead before the Yankees even grabbed a bat. The offense stayed hot in the third as Christian Vazquez lined a double to center. Michael Taylor followed with a Colten Brewer fastball out to right for a two-run homer. This extended the Twins lead to eleven and Joe Ryan retired the first eleven batters he faced. Anthony Rizzo smoked a Ryan fastball out to right for a solo homer and the perfect game was over. Joe Ryan regrouped and threw seven solid innings. Cole Sands threw up a zero in the eighth and hit a blip in the ninth when Anthony Rizzo belted a fastball out to right-center for another solo homer. Giancarlo Stanton flew out to center to end the game and the Twins took the series opener in the Bronx tonight.
-Final Thoughts- Joe Ryan was locked in despite the early lead. He threw seven very good innings and allowed one run on three hits with ten strikeouts. Cole Sands gave up a run over two innings with two strikeouts to save the bullpen. Christian Vazquez led the team with three hits on the night. Eddie Julien, Carlos Correa, Jose Miranda, Donovan Solano, and Michael Taylor each had three hits each. The Twins hit 5-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Max Kepler is expected to be activated for Saturday’s game. Joey Gallo will go to Indianapolis and play for the Saints over the weekend. He could be activated by Tuesday. Jorge Polanco and Alex Kirilloff each played seven innings with Fort Myers tonight as they work their way back. Tomorrow, Kenta Maeda faces Nestor Cortes in Game 2.

Why We Love ars PARADOXICA
Back in 2016, the fandom made a list of 43 reasons why we love ars PARADOXICA in honor of the 73rd anniversary of Dr. Sally Grissom’s first audio diary on October 29, 1943. When I learned that the podcast was going to end after its third season, I decided to pull together another list that was double the length of the first.
However, the fandom was so passionate that we blew past our goal, and reached triple the length of the original list!
Without further ado, here are the 129 of the reasons why we love ars PARADOXICA:
Helen Partridge, my beautiful, beautiful wife
I just love Kristen’s laugh and it never fails to make me smile.
Mischa’s outros! “Brought to you by the internet:”
The TimeSwimmers episode. That whole thing was a masterpiece
Sally and Nikhil's friendship
Petra, my sassy troubled daughter
The effort that went into making such a truly unique and ambitious take on time travel-based fiction
Sally, my favorite disaster ace
All of the characters are just so beautifully flawed in their own ways and are so well depicted it’s hard to pick a favorite
Every episode makes me feel SO MANY EMOTIONS
The sound effects are just so well done that I feel like I’m right there with the characters
The subtle yet mind blowing foreshadowing
The way it endlessly inspires me to create fan content
The decryption team, who I don't understand yet love to watch unravel codes
The ability to make us both love and hate a character at the same time as much as we do Esther Roberts.
Jack Wyatt
The sass, and in general wonderful interactions with the fan base on social media.
The schoolyard brawl!
Very obviously not being afraid to have fun with ads/sponsored content.
Actually making me want to listen to the version with ads even though I'm a patron
Buttsticks…
Plasticity
The outro music is simple but so, so good
Lemon drops and Limestone
My curiosity about what Esther wrote in the letter
Golden boi and his devils lettuce
With three episodes left it felt like there was so much story left to be told and such little time to tell it
The generosity to keep us entertained between seasons
The subtle symbolism of Esther's mind being represented with card games
The heart-wrenching ups and downs of Esther and Bridget's relationship
Esther and Sally’s lesbian/aroace solidarity
Bridget, my mom
Sally's #relatable ace anxieties and Nikhil's comforting response
The super cool theme song by Mischa "i do not play piano" Stanton which they apparently HEARD IN A DREAM?!
The found footage pieces between scenes
The amount of detail put into it, and being able to notice new things on each relisten
Easter eggs like QDAM
Seemingly infinite pop culture references
The commitment to posting a transcript for each episode
The GOLDEN BOY smokes the devil’s lettuce?!
The Super LUminal Recursive Processor
All of the machine code names really
Mischa’s wonderful sound design that makes me feel like I’m actually in the location the episode takes place at and made me realize how wonderful podcasts could truly be.
Sally Grissom. The wonderful disaster ace and the first ace rep I ever found.
The sound design of the show, especially the tapes adding to world building, all those clunky sounds.
Sally Grissom, ‘I wonder what would happen if I...’, Mad scientist.
This show has the most complex, humanistic portrayal of aromanticism I’ve ever experienced
I appreciate the aP creators’ dedication to nuanced portrayal of and discussion about violence
All of Curses, of fucking course
Keeping the humanity of people who do bad thing while not trying to justify them
Their commitment to “all killer, no filler”
Reminding me that science is cool, dammit!
Petra is a lovely and nuanced, complex character that I adore with my whole heart and soul.
[BLUE BLUE 09 13 18 15 26 08 04 12 20 24 05 18 14 09 17 04 05 12 01 05 The weather in Tulsa today is: Drought. At the tone, the time will be: 5400 hours]
The creators are so so fantastic and fun! I love that they interact with fans.
Sally is the disaster stoner physicist we all need in our lives. also she’s relatable as hell
The show is not afraid to tackle issues like race, gender, or sexuality and it doesn’t overstep its bounds.
The codes are so fun (even if I don’t understand all of them)!
I love how excited scientists get when they’ve discovered something-it feels like real scientists I know
How Bridget criticizes Sally for making puns under pressure even though she does exactly the same thing
The way characters interact with one another, and grow, and learn, and develop is so fascinating and beautiful.
Plasticity might have been the first podcast episode to make me cry.
I love Sally “I only know anecdotal biology and chemistry” Grissom and how her science knowledge actually makes sense??
As a huge huge physics nerd and aspiring computer scientist, I love love love the way Sally talks about science! It’s like Kristen DiMercurio is narrating my inner monologue!
The thrill of trying to keep up with the diverging timelines
☭S̶͜͞ ̀͜҉̀͢Í͠ ̸̸͟҉X̵͘͢ ̢T̷̶͞ ̢̨͟Y̧̛͘ ̨͟͢ ̴̨͜҉S̷̶͢ ̴͝Í͢͟ ҉̢̛͝X̕͝͝☭
The consideration and dedication shown in not only writing an aro-spec ace character, but addressing issues and worries often faced by people in that community.
The mind-boggling task of trying to piece together everything that’s happening when for all we know every scene could be from a different, rewritten version of the timeline.
Anthony Partridge, the most melodramatic math nerd to ever play Tetris in a bubble outside of time.
The optimism of the show and ultimate faith it shows in both science and humanity, despite all the characters’ failings.
Sally giggling over meeting her future self both times that it happens
Sally’s book (and her attempts at pronouncing NaNoWriMo).
Maggie Elbourne, because as much as I love all my the more morally ambiguous scientists it’s nice to see one who actually stood up to ODAR’s shenanigans almost as soon as she figured out what was up.
Everything about the road trip.
TimeSwimmers was already mentioned but specifically TIME DOLPHIN RYAN LOCHTE
Characters that grow and change and learn
The 77s getting name dropped in Plasticity, way before we knew who they were
Sally calling out the English language for being problematic (“oh, you mean like morally upstanding?”)
“The weather in Tulsa today is: uhh I dunno”.
It has been quite possibly the most human exploration of time travel I’ve ever seen/heard.
Reaching a happy ending I couldn't even imagine
The weather in Tulsa is: sppoookyyy
The ever changing ways the codes were presented in season 3. Giving the feeling that the anchorites were both on the run and broadcasting these messages from different points in time.
Sally’s ace representation is the best I’ve ever seen and it makes me feel so #valid.
The sound design and detail in the writing make me feel like I’m truly immersed in the story, and it feels so authentic. Are you sure you don’t secretly have a timepiece?
The characters are people I CARE about and wanted to cry over during work all the time because they’re all wonderful and I love them.
The integration of the different storylines into Sally’s, especially Petra’s, is amazing.
Petra’s characterization was really well done, and it made me really care about her, even as she was trying to more or less destroy the world.
Out-of-date pop culture references that fit seamlessly into the dialogue despite being from literally a different time period and most of the characters having no idea what it meant. They just added an extra level of hilarious.
You may not actually know a single thing about tachyon fields and gluon walls (are they even real?) but you could definitely convince me that you know exactly what you’re talking about (or at least that Sally Grissom does).
The enDING WAS JUST REALLY WELL DONE AND I LOVE A GOOD CIRCULAR ENDING AND IT MADE ME GENUINELY GO TO THE BATHROOM DURING WORK TO CRY BECAUSE IT WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL.
The fact that the whole show is wrapped up by the revelation that the entire show is actually Nikhil and Mateo curling up with board games and snacks trying to form a story out of these tapes, patching together timelines to make it all cohesive, it just feels very right.
This story fits the medium so well, and so the fact that we don’t learn that Whickman has an EYEPATCH is absolutely wild but also wonderful because as soon as I heard that I knew that that was how it belonged, like of course he has an eyepatch, that’s a very Chet thing to have.
The ending was so perfectly, painfully beautiful. It was the ending we needed but never would have imagined.
Petra’s and Sally’s relationship being so complex and real.
Nikhil and Mateo using the archive to create the framing device for the whole podcast.
The sound the timepiece makes.
The final destruction of the timepiece.
Putting time travel in a Cold War setting makes perfect sense, and they go together like peanut butter and chocolate.
Did anyone mention Helen Partridge as a character? How beautifully she was set up and the fact that she pursued her own her life, and also, how BEAUTIFULLY Susanna Kavee can sing? Because damn.
I just. Really love this show. And everyone involved. So much.
The child characters were really well done-both the actors and the writing felt real.
To me, the show feels a bit like one of those camp friendship bracelets everyone used to make, with all these colors and threads--all of the timelines, woven together, messy but beautiful.
TEETRIS
Grissom’s Gizmo Gals!
Mateo’s non-stop flirting, even in the worst of situations
Sally “It’s Dr Grissom”ed HERSELF.
The way both the story and the characters reflect a complex view on the world with people making horrible decisions and horrible things happening to them, and yet always maintaining a positive outlook, offering the possibility of change and improvement.
The top-notch voice acting from everyone involved, helping to create the wonderful characters we all love.
Sally finger-gunning her way out of a conversation with a pun about a friend almost killing her.
All the minisodes!!
Any time Bridget, Nikhil or Lou acts like they want to adopt Petra
The series ending with two characters who had been at odds coming together
The characterization of the different Petras, because they all seem like different people even though  in fact they are not (and Sylvia deciding she doesn't want to follow the legacy of Petras)
How Kristen can play 2 of the same character and make them sound different (how does she do that???)
Anthony’s will to save everyone, sacrificing himself, when the world didn't do anything good for him…
... and the constant struggle to save his friends (like when he was literally the only one aware of the Anchorites and the way their plan could have ended)
The way the show can go from time travel shenanigans to heartfelt character moments is a real testament to the talent of the writing team.
The Vegas episode, which I listened to after the finale and cried, because they were so happy and naive and everything wasn’t messy and bad and complicated.
The way gun violence is handled by the creators with respect and care
The way PTSD and mental health is handled (through Sally) is beautiful and respectful.
Partridge being named after a bird and living out his life in a cage. YOU GUYS ARE MEAN
Susanna Kavee’s absolutely amazing singing and Tau Zaman’s lyrics are an absolutely combination.
The ceaseless, unwavering commitment to puns
I love how important their friendships are to the characters (well, most of them anyways).
Sally’s conversation with Nikhil in season 3 reflects a lot of common anxieties of aromantic people, and his understanding responses
The entirety of the trial episode, which just really sort of showed the full extent of how terrible the Red Scare was by putting Esther, a Jewish woman, through it, and just shows you how defamed people in that time were.
In so many of the fictional and non-fictional representations of history, marginalized people have diminished, distorted, and stereotypical roles-but not in ars PARADOXICA. Thank you for making so many people feel seen.
All the amazing writers who started it all. 💜

Special thanks to the ars PARADOXICA discord for being so helpful! From the time it was just a dozen people with a spork in a shoebox, this community was a shining star that helped me through tough times. Thank you for your silliness, cleverness, and support.

Interview with Giancarlo Stanton😁
POV: You are a sports talk show host and today’s guest is Yankees outfielder; Giancarlo Stanton
warnings: none, fluff and maybe some flirting☺️
From Y/N’s POV
“We’re live in three, two, one! Welcome back to Sports Live with Y\N and we are back from commercial break. As promised, we have Giancarlo Stanton here and he was found time in his busy schedule to come and talk to me. Welcome Giancarlo!”
“Thank you for having me today Y/N. I appreciate the warm welcome.” Giancarlo said with a smile and you returned the smile. “So we have a few questions from our listeners and we’re going to page them through. Okay we’ll have our first listener.
“Hi Giancarlo! This is Grace and i am a huge fan of the Yankees and i just want to wish you good luck on the rest of the season!” Grace said and i ended her call and smiled. “Well that’s very cute and sweet.” I said and he smiled. “Agreed, well thank you Grace i much appreciate it.” Giancarlo said and i paged in the next caller. “Hey Giancarlo, i love you so much. Oh and this is Veronica.” She said and i ended the call and Giancarlo and i both laughed. “Well i appreciate the love.” Giancarlo said and i laughed and paged through the last caller. “Giancarlo, this is Daniel. I’m a Red Sox fan and the Yankees will lose in the postseason.” He said and hung up and i looked at Giancarlo with a raised eyebrow. “Wow.” I said and he shrugged. “Eh not exactly the first time i’ve heard that one. I just let my production on the field do the talking.”Giancarlo said and i high fived him. “That’s what i’m talking about. But i do have a few fun questions for you; favorite ballpark you have played in?” I asked and he rubbed his face while thinking. “Hmm definitely Dodger Stadium. Mainly because i grew up going to the games and playing there and hitting home runs is always a great feeling.” Giancarlo said and i nodded and cleared my throat. “Okay next question; favorite moment in your career?” I asked and he smiled. “Hitting 59 homers in 2017 with the Marlins.” Giancarlo said and i smiled. “Okay and final question; are you excited for the subway series?” I asked and he chuckled. “Of course, both of us are doing well in out respective leagues so it’ll be a great matchup.” Giancarlo said and i smiled agreeing. “Definitely. Well that’s all the time we have today, thank you so much Giancarlo for coming here today.” I said and he smiled shaking my hand. “No problem and thank you.” Giancarlo said and i muted his microphone for a second. “And that’s all for today’s show thank you all so much for listening, come back tomorrow and as always have a great day.” I said concluding my outro and i took my headphones off and i stood up to hug Giancarlo. “You were great today thank you.” I said and he smiled picking up his phone. “You’re welcome. Keep in touch.”Giancarlo said sliding me a piece of paper with his number on it and he winked and left the studio and i smiled putting his number in my phone. I just scored Giancarlo Stanton’s number and can’t lie he is hella cute and i will be calling his number soon☺️
The End👏
Hello!! This is my first ever story that i wrote on my own accord and i’m kinda nervous to see how it’s gonna turn out and i’m also trying my hand at being a writer. Thank you for reading!!🖤

Joan Wyand in NYC, Day 13
This morning I went ice skating at the Wollman Rink in Central Park. I’ve enjoyed ice skating before and it was really hard! After I took a ride on the carousel which was really fun. Then I went on the self-guided tour. I listened to the podcast on Seneca Village, the Established Black Community that was displaced to build Central Park, and learned I was walking on double stolen land. I walked too far on one part of the tour and came down by the Bethesda Terrace which is so beautiful. I went to the left and ended up back on the tour path in the Strawberry Fields garden area. I kept wandering further north for fun. After the Seneca Village podcast, I listened to the Bowery Boys Podcast about the Creation of Central Park while I took the train to Chinatown to get some Soup Dumplings. The Bowery Boys Podcast, made in 2008, said there were no statues of real women in the park. There is now at least one sculpture that featured women’s rights pioneers: Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did find soup dumplings in Chinatown to bring home, which were delicious. But on my way back to the apartment, I went down the stairs in the subway on Canal St and passed a person acting erratically which is not something new. Although he was headed in the other direction, the man ended up sitting across from me at the end of the car. He took out an aluminum can pipe and started to put some kind of drugs on it, so I moved to another seat. He started smoking from the can and it didn’t smell good. I was uncomfortable so I got off at the next stop to switch to a different car. The next car down had another erratic man who did not have hands and was lighting up a blunt. Everyone was moving to the other end of the car and I decided to get out and wait for the next train. I felt some fear from the experience and sadness because it was hard to witness people in so much pain. When I got to the apartment the doorman began questioning me about my apartment number and asking me if he saw me here last night which made me feel very unwelcome. It’s frustrating because I’ve been living here for two weeks now and I wave to the doormen when I come and go. I felt pretty triggered from both experiences. It’s interesting how after such a lovely sunny day in the park, the challenging experiences that didn’t last long instantly take up so much mental space. I wrote and meditated to move through the hard feelings I was having and it seemed to get most of the difficult energy out of my body.
In the evening I did an online improv class which was really fun. There were many improv practices and each one was like playing a new imaginative game. The group was very welcoming and was really fun to connect with the other people participating. I liked finding out where other people took the storylines and there was a lot of laughing. I was grateful to have a fun experience after the weird energy in the afternoon. It was a nice way to end the day.
