Oh, look at that! I love that right when Sonic becomes all fluffy and turns the tide in battle, Diana Skelly tags out as artist and Adam Bryce Thomas steps in for more of his raw, just as energized action panels!

The main focus may be the Sonic vs. Eggman fight, but I’d be lying if I said the Freedom Fighters weren’t contributing much too! They go all out against armies of Badniks and E-100 bots, and Rotor’s busy taking on the Death Egg itself, though time will tell how long these guys can hold it out whilst Sonic’s busy with the final boss.

I love this particular page of Bunnie fricking Power Punching the chonky motherfucker from before and simply one-shotting it in one hit while the others hold it down.

They...they rush through its build-up explanation right when it first appears proper in this comic? Yeah at this point you really feel the race to the end.

Funny that in this adaptaion, Dark Gaia rises not in the core of the earth, but in the middle of the ocean near Eggmanland, and it transitions immediately into its truly grotesque “Perfect Dark Gaia“ form.

My apologies if I really don’t have much to say about this issue. As enjoyable as these events are, they’re hard-coded into Sonic Unleashed’s narrative and we’ve already waited so long for it to reach its endgame. xD Anyway, Super Sonic is here for the first (and final) time in the post-reboot to combat the eldritch abomination alongside Chip in the Gaia Colossus. Right on time, too! I was wondering when we’d get to the end of this long, long Shattered World arc.

Ooo get a load of this cover! I can appreciate the detail on the Gaia Colossus and Egg Dragoon, but I’m not so sure on Chip over there taking a dump on Sonic’s outstretched hand xD

The inclusion of Dark Gaia creatures infesting the bottom half of the cover the closer we get to seeing the final boss is also a nice touch.

Rotor and Nicole make one final stand against the Death Egg, only to be blown out of the sky by Orbot and Cubot, of all people. After this and then making those freaky faces when sending tassel boy to his prison, I’m starting to think Archie!Orbot & Cubot are far more prone to evil acts than we let them up to be.

Sonic running around and avoiding Eggman’s latest death machine while they snark back and forth take me back to the Egg Tarantula fight in #200. xD If you liked that issue then here there’s more of that sort of banter, only with a different art direction with way more dynamic panels and way less good colours (sorry, Cassata).
