Media & Inquiry 1
Media One was extremely interesting for me because I wasn’t aware of music freedom and musical expression being so limited and intertwined with politics during the 90s. I didn’t know about the longbox either and it made me happy to hear how artists during that transitional time were concerned about the wasteful packaging that the longbox could bring.
Inquiry One was definitely a sprint: combining game, stop motion, and spanish. Last week we were instructed to create a game of items from $5 and less. My first idea was curated from post-it notes and trying to create a drawing/memory game from stacking the post-it notes. During our class critique, it was suggested to me that I attempt a stop motion film with post-its, possibly trying to achieve an animation approach to the game. After that class I went home and stared at a wall, figuring out how to connect stop motion film and game. I then took my own personal experience as a Spanish minor to try and make an app/interface experience for learning languages. I created “Espuego” that combines stop motion film and learning the Spanish language. I learned that stop motion is all about lighting and never moving the camera. I was able to take my personal learning experience and create a real tool to tackle language barriers/language learning from any device. I don’t have experience (yet) with UI/UX design but when I do I would love to flush out more of the user design experience for the “Espuego” app! Additionally, my hope is this app would be a great tool for educators, nurses, government officials, and learners in all languages.
