Hey y’all! This is a bit different than what I usually post. This is a project I’ve been working on for a while, and I’m excited to share it with you guys! This is a piece of fanfic I wrote based off of the pilot episode of Freddy’s Nightmares, which I really dislike to say the least. I got the idea because I was annoyed with the wasted potential, so I decided to rewrite it myself. Anyways enough with the rambling, I hope you guys like it.

Part l
The Murders
I can’t sleep. All I feel is this persistent dread, I have to keep myself busy in order to not be overtaken by my thoughts. After an hour of tossing and turning, I decided to get myself some water. I was going to head upstairs, but out the window I caught a glimpse of stars twinkling, the moon peeping out from the clouds overseeing the still neighborhood. My anxiety slowly melted away looking out at the tranquil scene; for a moment I could finally think clearly, however it soon turned into frustration when the subject of my turmoil returned. All I wanted was a life, away from the chaos of the city. The amount of times I’ve sacrificed important moments with my wife and children just to make ends meet became too much. I was hoping a new start in Springwood would give me that peace. Now I’m encountering something far worse than I’ve ever seen in my career. Every few weeks a new body is found, a small child horrifically mutilated, with almost every wound that the human mind can imagine. God, I can still see it, the horrible gashes, rope burns, torn clothing, the sight of pure perversion. When I lay awake I still see their faces, engulfed in terror, the look of a cold unforgiving death. When you work in the law, that chaos will always find you; I should’ve known better.
The creak of the floor boards interrupts my spiral. I turn around to see my wife Sarah, her blonde hair and blue eyes shone in the moonlight. “ I’ll be up in a minute” I say. She looks at me with concern, she approaches and embraces me in her arms. “ I just don’t know what to do.” “ I know, just know that I have faith in you, and that you don’t have to endure this alone.” We stood in silence for a moment gazing into the night, “Loretta invited us to a neighborhood barbecue this weekend.” “Oh that” I sighed. Though I’m not up to a weekend barbecue I am appreciative of the Kruegers. They have been a welcoming presence for my family. Loretta a petite woman with a light brown bob, and just as cheery as the florals I constantly see her in, greeted us with a basket of pastries, and flowers when we moved in. She and Sarah over the past few weeks became closely acquainted. Her husband Freddy I’ve only interacted with a couple of times, a Gene Wilder type, charismatic, and friendly. My twin daughters Sarah and Merit are friends with their daughter Katherine, who they spend a lot of time at school with, and have had many play dates. Ring! I look at Sarah “I’ll get it.” The feeling of dread returns as I made my way to the living room. My throat felt so dry that I had trouble answering “Blocker residence.” “Lieutenant we found another one.”
I make my way to the scene with every passing streetlight I feel myself getting closer to the horror I’m about to witness. I pull into the empty park I see the crowd of officers near the playground, that’s been closed off with yellow tape. No matter how much I tried to reason with myself, push the past behind me, it came with a vengeance. What I saw was profound ravishment and hate. I saw her lying there on the dirt, just haphazardly dumped there, like an animal got bored of tormenting it’s prey. Fabric mixed with cut flesh along the chest, rope burns on her wrists. Her face was an ashy pallor, drained of all life, her blue eyes glassy.
Pure perversion….
The world seemed to condense, like I’ve been thrown overboard into the deepest water, gasping for breath, I realized I recognized the girl, her name was Katy Coleman, she was a classmate of my daughter’s. When I saw Katy, I saw my daughters lying on that gravel. I can’t let that happen, never.
We made our way to the Krueger House, it was a bright Saturday afternoon, fluorescent leaves fell from the trees crunching under our feet. The smell of cooked meat wafted in the air leading the way, as we got closer the sound of music and children playing became louder. Lisa and Merit quickened their pace, holding in their anticipation. The house was between lush trees and surrounded by a little white fence, with patches of Lillie’s behind it. The sweet smell of barbecue gave the house a more quaint feel than it already had. Loretta greeted us at the door “hello! Welcome! We’re just getting started!” She said in her usual upbeat manner. “Freddy! The blockers are here!” “Great! Send ‘em on back! A voice responded from the back of the house. Loretta looked down at the twins “Oh! Lisa and merit, Katherine is in her room.” We made our way to the back yard, which was just as nice as the front yard, the grass was plush and neatly manicured. There was a table on the patio decorated with tableware Freddy appeared from behind the grill carrying a plate loaded with ribs. “ Oh don’t you worry this is just the appetizer!” Soon other guests started to trickle in. Loretta looked at Freddy “I’ll go get the kids.” She said. “Oh, I’ve got it honey.” Freddy walked across the backyard to the house. “Girls! The food’s ready! If you don’t come down I’m feeding it to the dog!” “Dad, we don’t have a dog!” Katherine shouted back slightly annoyed. The girls ran down the stairs. Freddy chased Katherine outside in a goofy fashion. “Dad, I’m getting too old for that!” “What to have fun with your old man? I don’t think so!” Freddy quickly walked to greet the new guests shaking hands and saying hello, he seemed to make a show out of greeting people. I spent most of the time to myself. I felt as though my soul had lifted from my body and peered at the partygoer’s below. I didn’t feel like socializing anyway.
As the sun began to set people began to retreat to their homes, leaving only me, Sarah, and the twins. The girls returned upstairs while we enjoyed a glass of wine in the kitchen. “Oh! Tim I gotta show ya something!” Said Freddy. He led me to the garage where a vehicle was covered by a tarp. Freddy yanked the tarp off revealing a bright red convertible. “Ain’t she something?”
He said with a look of pride. “Wow Fred this extremely nice.” “I know, and you won’t believe it she was fall’n apart when I first saw her, so I’ve been fix’n her up.” He must’ve picked up on my inattentiveness, he looked at me with full attention. “sorry, bud here I was bragging about my car, and I shoulda asked about you.” “Oh, forget it, it’s work trouble.” I replied. “Yeah it’s a damn shame what’s happening, I’m sure you’re stressed.” I nodded. “I saw in the paper that a new body was found, were there any clues about who coulda done it?” “Sadly not.” He looked me in the eye, and my blood ran cold “I wonder how her parents must feel.” At once I was consumed with nausea, and I excused myself from the garage. I found Sarah talking to Loretta in the living room “honey, I’m going to head out.” “Oh, okay, I’ll get the girls, and-“ “ no, no you stay I just need to go lay down.” I walked out into the neighborhood the night sky had set in by this point, and everyone was shut up in their homes. The whole walk I couldn’t get Fred’s stare out of my consciousness. Despite his concerned demeanor, his eyes were a striking green, that were almost hypnotic, the glamour had lifted, and suddenly I found myself in the clutches of a viper. I saw nothing but death in them, and I shudder to think that being the last thing I witness before my demise.
I returned home from work one day, to find Lisa in the living room staring at the newspaper in her hands. She was completely motionless; for a moment time stood still, as we stood in the silent living room. She was staring at something on the front cover, I went over to her, and gently placed my hand on her shoulder. The headline read Springwood Slasher Claims Another Victim, with a yearbook photo of Katy. Lisa turned to me, and buried herself in my arms. I couldn’t think of anything to say, so I just embraced her as she wept. The girls both became more quiet and withdrawn after that. At night Sarah and I would talk at length about what to do, unfortunately it only resulted in conflict. Eventually I found myself retreating to the basement, instead of tossing and turning in my bed. I would spend hours poring over the evidence from the Springwood Slasher case. The deeper I became engulfed with finding answers, the less tethered my relationship with my wife and children became.
One morning I stayed home sick from work the house was empty Sarah had gone to work, and the girls were at school. I had boxes of evidence strewn across the living room, I was so focused that the doorbell made me jump. When I opened the door I was surprised to find Fred. He was timidly standing on the stoop clutching his brown fedora. “Hey Freddy, how’s it going?” “Hey Tim, I don’t mean to bother you, I just wanted to drop by and say hi” he said sullenly. “Why don’t you come in?” “Thanks.” I hastily picked up the living room “don’t worry about this, I decided to get some work done. Feel free to sit down.” Freddy sat on the edge of the couch, it was evident that something was bothering him. “ So, uh how’ve you been?” I asked. “ To be honest, not great.” He replied, his eyes shook, and tears began to fall from his eyes. “I’m sorry, Tim I don’t mean to put this on you, I just, I just-.” “Hey, don’t worry about it. Can I get you anything? Coffee?” He shook his head. “No thanks. It’s Loretta, she left me. I was at work, and she called me, that’s when she told me that she was leaving. After that I couldn’t focus, so I took the rest of the day off.” I sat there across from him stunned by what I just heard. “Did she say why?” Freddy shook his head, then placed it in his hands. “ What about Katherine?” “She’s still at school, I’m not sure what I’m going to tell her.” “My god Fred, I don’t know what to say, that’s terrible, well you know where to find us if you need anything.” “Thank you Tim.” That night I was in the bedroom with Sarah, and I told her what had happened earlier that day. She looked at me with utter disbelief. “ I talked to Loretta a couple of days ago, we were in the kitchen talking, I asked her about Fred, and she suddenly got very tense. She started crying, she seemed afraid. I’ve never seen her like that, but she wouldn’t just vanish.”
I laid in bed ruminating, I couldn’t sleep, eventually I decided just to go downstairs, and stared out the living room window. Not too long after I saw headlights make their way down the street, as they got closer I realized they belonged to a red convertible.
All at once my suspicion formed into an urge to take action. I got into my car, and began to follow the convertible. Despite my guilt, despite knowing I should’ve followed protocol, by that point I had become overtaken by pure instincts, I wasn’t a cop that night, but a terrified father. Little did I know I would be forever changed.
I was led to a power plant, where I realized is Fred’s work place. I found his car parked in some quiet corner of the plant. For a moment I felt stupid that I followed him to where he worked, but I just had to put my mind at ease. I got out of my car, the sounds of machinery echoed in the night. The looming stacks made the plant look like some ancient ruin. I found a doorway not far from where he parked. Right to the left were some small windows illuminated by firelight. I crouched down through the murky glass I could see him. To my horror I saw a desk covered in missing child posters and newspaper clippings. He pulled out a box in it was a metal plated glove attached to the finger tips were four blades. I couldn’t watch anymore, I was possessed with rage. I opened the heavy metal door revealing a dingy staircase. As I made my way down the fire was my guide in the dark hallway, like I was entering the depths of hell meeting the devil himself. When I entered the boiler room he turned around in shock. Thinking about my family, the sleepless nights, the trust I had in him, all cultivated in an act of violence. I lunged at him knocking him to the ground. “ You son of a bitch! “ I struck him more. “ What you don’t have anything to say?!, I let you in my home! You know where my children sleep! Goddamn you!” He looked up at me with fear, the kind of fear without a hint of remorse, that his reign of terror is over. For the first time I felt true hate.
When I brought him into the station my pain was not resolved. I was bitter, and sorrowful, that the thing infecting my life was living right down the street. The evidence that was found sickened me a scrap book of newspaper clippings, missing child posters, and a box of Polaroids with a parent’s worst nightmare. Soon after Krueger’s arrest Katherine was placed in foster care, Loretta’s remains were never found.
The girls were devastated, withdrawing from both Sarah and I, but especially me. I fell into a depression, Sarah tried her best to pull me out, however I was overcome with despair. When the date of the trial arrived, most of me wanted nothing more to do with the case, except a slight feeling of hope that I’d see that bastard rot behind bars forever. However that never happened. Due to my impulses I failed as a police officer, I forgot to read him his rights. Thus Krueger walked out of the courtroom as a free man.
That night after the trial I and some other parents in the neighborhood tracked him down to his boiler room. We found him sitting against the wall with a look of pride as he smoked a cigarette. I struck him in the face, the cigarette landing on the ground. I yanked him up off the ground dragging him by his jacket lapels. As someone began to pour gas all over the room. “Whatcha gonna do arrest me? He mocked. “Fine burn it! You know I’ll never see a cell!” He shouted. A match was lit and the place began to burn I looked at Fred, his eyes met mine the sparks reflected in them, I felt as though I was in the presence of the arch fiend. We looked at each other in a mutual hatred. I decided then and there it would end. I pushed him back down into the flames, he began to burn. He shrieked in agony, it sounded like the cry of an inhuman creature. “ You’ll fucking burn for this! Do you hear me!” Freddy screamed. One of the others began to pull me out of the room. “ Tim we gotta go!” With that we made our way outside I looked back one last time, the small windows ablaze the smoke began to trickle out. I could still hear his muffled screams.
The drive home was a somber one. The whole way I could still see his eyes, his screams with every passing car. I found Sarah standing in the living room. I couldn’t think of anything to say. She moved close to me, and I fell in her arms. All the tension, the misery I held inside released itself all at once, in gushing tears. We embraced each other in the soft light of the moon.

----------------------
The dark car drove towards the kindergarten, the morning still hanging over the small town of Springwood. The sun hid behind the fog the lights of the town, the houses and the lights of the cars on the streets that stretched into the town. The light music from the radio filled the car and the weather report had prompted them both to take an umbrella each.
A large dark one and a small colorful umbrella. ,,Are you ready for your first day?" the woman asked and her gaze went for a few seconds to the little girl who was looking at her mother, beaming with joy.
The two braids that kept the tangled hair under control were interspersed with hair clips. The gap in her teeth from her latest success and another precious memory for her mother. The car continued to drive through the streets, but the two were heading for a very specific destination.
They had only moved to the small town a few weeks ago. They had practically fled the big city to escape the many people, cars and overcrowding that had demanded almost everything from them.
Especially in a time without a husband, useless, lazy, out for her body and not taking care of his daughter, he paid the maintenance to keep the cops off his back, but otherwise he didn't let himself be licked.
No use, she thought, focusing back on the road, having written down the route and seeing that they had arrived at the street.
She waited briefly before turning off and, after a few meters, saw the wire fence at the civic victory to keep the children out of the street and avoid the danger. ,,We're here!" the little girl shouted when she saw the colorful flags and toys outside in the garden area or play area for the others.
A smile full of serenity appeared on her mother's lips as she found a parking space after a few minutes and went to her daughter. ,,We're here and you my little frog have your first day of kindergarten," she said, helping her out of the car before taking her little hand and walking across the crosswalk towards the building.
The colorful backpack and the umbrella harmonized with the little red dress and the orange ribbons embroidered on it.
The grin and the gap in her teeth made her mother smile, but she was also proud and a little wistful that her daughter had grown up so much. Opening the waist-high gate and going inside, she saw a few children already glued to the window pane, watching the newcomer with interest and curiosity.
Just as she was about to open the door, it was yanked open and she came face to face with a blonde woman, her long curly hair tied back in a plait, her slightly vulture-like nose and her piercing yet empty-looking green eyes.
Long, gentle fingers lay against the door frame and a green, gray and beige dress clung to her body. A charming, almost arrogant smile and a shimmer of pink lip gloss could be seen.
A beauty, a dream woman who looked after my house. ,,Good morning, Miss, I wanted to drop off my little one for the first day," the mother caught herself and already felt the warm hand on her shoulder pulling her into the kindergarten, into something she didn't know what was happening to her.
,,Oh come in sweetie, I'm Miss Krueger the teacher and every child's dream" she introduced herself and winked at the little girl who seemed fascinated by the pink lip gloss and was probably wondering where she would get something like that.
,,I run the dream group over here together with my...colleague," she continued, her high heels clicking in the corridor and the mother followed, deeply fascinated.
Maybe the other reason wasn't just the financial situation, the separation from her useless husband, maybe it was that she was listening to her heart and was finally looking for a female partner.
Maybe she would find that happiness. Maybe even here in the city? The three of them went into the dream group where, when the door opened again, a pleasantly large play paradise opened up for the little girl. ,,So big!" She called out and her mother felt her clinging to her and begging for permission, which she let go with one last hug and a kiss on the cheek.
,,The girl with the curly hair is Nancy, the boy with the painting coat is Quentin and the girl by the CD player is Nancy too," the blonde whispered to her, watching her protégés with a look of pleasure before placing her hand, which was reassuring and inviting, on her mother's shoulder to lead her around.
The younger one hung her little one's backpack on her heels, placed the umbrella next to it and with one last look of affection went to her daughter with Miss.Krueger who continued to lead her around.
,,A coffee? I mean, we have time and my colleague will take care of everything else...tell me, where did you get the earrings if you don't mind my question dear" the blonde quacked and giggled a charming smile, a smile full of amusement as she suddenly came closer to the younger girl and put her fingers on her body again.
She could feel the other rich girl's perfume on her legs, a smoky note, she thought, and couldn't help but feel a bit perturbed.
She liked the blonde's amused manner, but there was something in those green eyes that looked at her. ,,A coffee please... and the earrings, well, I made them myself," she confessed and smiled slightly as the blonde made a surprised expression, moved away from her and turned to the coffee machine to pour the hot caffeine drink into two cups.
Without seeing the younger girl's gaze pass over her, she didn't take her eyes off the blonde as if she were being drawn to her again and again. ,,So this is homemade, maybe it's something for us to try together for coffee and cake, isn't it?" the blonde asked, handing her the cup as her fingers deliberately moved over the younger girl's.
The two women smiled at each other, their eyes meeting before they both enjoyed the coffee, knowing that it was a little break before they all had to go to work.
Until the clacking of shoes could be heard again, another attendant was there to chat with the mothers and fathers. Before slowly, rather cautiously, a woman joined them, a slight, almost shy smile on her lips.
The slightly sunken cheeks, the pointed nose and the dark blue eyes harmonized with the dark brown hair that had been put into a plait. The black high-heels at her ankles lay up her bare legs to a brown dress lighter than her hair with a white plaid that gave her a certain authority like a teacher.
Topped off with a beige brown cardigan that looked big and soft to protect her from the cold when she was out with the children. ,,Frensis, how nice wouldn't you have to look after little Quentin, you know how he is with his attention," came coolly from the blonde, but the smile on her lips didn't fade as she walked over to the brown-haired girl and simply tipped her coffee into the sink and joined her colleague.
,,Yes, well, hello Ma'm, I'm the other attendant here, pleased to meet you," she said to the smaller of the two attendants and held out her hand. Despite her gentle smile, her demeanor was somewhat submissive, as if she had already been through a lot.
Something she wouldn't wish on anyone else. ,,Nice to meet you, I have to go but I really appreciate the work you're doing here," the mother replied and squeezed her hand in gratitude, seeing the slight blush on the brown-haired girl's cheeks as she slowly loosened her grip on the blonde so that the two could wave goodbye to their "customer" until the main door closed and would only open again in the afternoon when it was time to pick up the town's children.
She listened to the sounds of her daughter as the little child bubbled over with joy about her new friends Quentin and Nancy, who were also super nice.
It was a joy to see them like that. ,,I'm so proud of you for making it through your first day and I'll give you hundreds of kisses for it," she said softly as she pulled the blanket up to keep out the cold and handed Mr. Bunny to her daughter and gave her a goodnight kiss before walking out of the room, slowly closing the door and letting the radio play the rest.
She spent the evening watching something on the old television, but her mind was also on something else. The two women who seemed so different and yet so alike that it was almost funny.
But after she had watched the movie and made herself a warm soothing tea with melatonin and the sweet soft sleepy feeling on her body did the rest, she went to her bedroom with a yawn, defeated by the day. She snuggled under the covers of her bed and sighed exhaustedly before turning off the light with her weaver and falling asleep.
A dreamless sleep for the beginning it seemed, at least for the time being, until the image formed of the sleep she was unaware of becoming something more real. Slowly, snow and soot formed the image of a kindergarten, the same kindergarten she knew, only different.
Different it wasn't full of warmth at least the place itself was glowing but outside it was cold so cold that she warmed her hands before going into the building to be safe from the snow. She was right about the heat the once colorful building with the children's alchendne voices had fallen silent.
As if someone had gone through hell and back, the place had changed. the place was a patchwork of dilapidated walls, back alleys and old factories with hot steelworks. ,,Hello?" she called out into the place and cringed as she heard a female but not of this wlet rather amused...demonic.
Trying to find a way out, she went back to the front door but it was no longer there and something told her that this could not mean anything good in the dream.
Especially not when the scene went completely awry in the factory and she almost ran into one of the hot pipes, which the unknown voice found amusing even if different. ,,Come here pretty Ma'm...let me look at you" she heard the voice a familiar voice as she felt something cold and sharp on her shoulder move around she saw Frensis stuck in a sweater her face burnt and on her right hand a leather glove with small rings on the fingertips.
A scream of anguish escaped the younger women as she rushed away from the figure, the metal trying to lay on her body and the brown-haired woman seemed amused.
She watched her prey, taking her time to touch the warm real skin it was something special and her victim didn't dare to move in fear and confusion.
A gentle touch on her cheek sent a cold shiver down her body. ,,Let me give you a dream!" she shouted and pulled out her weapon to strike her victim, who raised her hands defensively but was pushed away by something. As if someone else was grabbing her and with the opening of her eyes she was back in this confusion of confused scenes.
,,She's a pretty thing bitch take your own...now I'll show you a real nightmare" said the voice and she saw the shimmer of pink lipgloss before burnt skin wrapped around her waist, the same glove moved along her body and she looked into the burnt face of Miss.Krueger, blue eyes showing the joy of the hunt.
A laugh escaped the barely recognizable lips before the gloves came off. Oh the two dream demons would show their new pretty favorite victim what it meant to have her as  "friends". Let the new nightmare begin.

Dream, Coffee, Demon and a little love
Tumblr media Tumblr media
warning ; angst, hurt/comfort, cuddling, trauma, trauma bonding, getting to know each other, fluff
Quentin Smith x Daniel Matthews
Summary : Quentin actually wanted to get to New York as soon as possible to look for Nancy and her mother. He also wanted to escape Freddy, even though he couldn't, of course. After his supply of Enrgydrinks runs out, he stops in Toronto. A small diner with coffee attracts him. But then a boy comes in and sits down with him. Trauma bonding over a good cup of filter coffee. As well as a pleasant tingling in the stomach.
---------------------------------------
With a flinch of his body, the teenager came back to reality. The darkness of the night surrounded him and did not help his tormenting tiredness.
Tired so infinitely tired he was. The brown-haired man ran his eyes before an exhausted yawn crossed his lips. ,,Shit," Quentin muttered, exhausted, and let his head fall onto the steering wheel. He pressed the horn and again he flinched.
His eyes wandered to the passenger seat and he took the folded map in his hands. His eyes could not see anything on the map in the dark surroundings, so he looked for the artificial light in the car.
When he pressed the button, he did not know that the light would blind him so much. Painfully he squeezed his eyes shut and would have loved to scream in frustration.
His left hand held the card and his right looked in the coffee hallter for a can of Energy-Drink. But as soon as he lifted it, he realized that there was hardly more than a tiny sip inside. This can't be, I just stopped said his inner voice and he took the last sip of the Taurine-Drink.
Briefly, he pulled a face, the rest tasted stale and disgusting. His attention returned to the map and his fingers traced the street of Springwood to his approximate location, even if he had misjudged a bit, Quentin knew where he was.
He cursed again when he realized he had no more rest towns ahead of him. He took another look at the map, but he couldn't turn around that fast either.
His goal New York was still far from being reached of the eight hours he needed by car from Springwood Ohio to New York he had only managed three and a half. But because of his condition, he was making slow progress. The next city he would have to consider was Toronto.
The teenager put the map back on the seat and started the engine. The car started and Quentin turned on the headlights. These illuminated the empty highway for him.
He was initially puzzled why hardly anyone was driving next to him, behind him, in front of him, or even towards him.
But the teenager had soon dismissed it as an unfortunate coincidence. When he drove for a few minutes, the possibility came to his mind that it was his tormentor.
Quentin turned on the radio and tried to concentrate on the driving as well as the music and the reporters.
When his eyes caught a sign that read Toronto he was relieved to have reached the city soon.
His eyes went from the sign back to the road. To his surprise, the noise came from the radio, which seemed to have made a mistake. ,,And now back to Fred with the weather" came from some reporter who was talking some irrelevant shit about sports.
Insignificant and simply serving as a distraction for the driver, he continued to listen. He blinked and blinked again before the blinking lasted for a moment too long and he was jolted out of his state by the sound of the road marking.
As his eyes focused on the road, his familiar form appeared to him. But instead of turning the steering wheel as he did a year ago, he drove on at an increased speed. ,,Piss off," he hissed at the figure and like an illusion he disappeared.
Almost convulsively and hardly reassuringly, he slowly lowered the speed in order not to cause an unnecessary accident. ,,Someone has become courageous. I can hardly wait for the next meeting. I greet my little Nany from you " came at once a voice known only to him too well for him.
Fearfully, almost panic-stricken, he hit the on / off button that he would have cursed himself in retrospect if it had broken.
He sighed and tried to concentrate back on the signs. To his nervous relief, the exit to the city was already in sight. After his car had taken it and he drove slowly towards the city, he let out another yawn.
His gaze wandered to his cell phone which, after a short switch-on, showed the time one o'clock in the morning. About half an hour he was able to struggle with reaching Toronto which did not brighten his mood.
When he arrived in the city itself, he slowed down to get a better view of the stores. But to his misfortune, they all seemed to be closed. Only when he turned a corner into WoodsboroStreet.
There he drove on and was about to turn around when the light of a diner caught his eye. Actually, his goal was to find a pharmacy or drug store where he could replenish his medication as well as his supply of coffee and Energydrinsk.
But he was satisfied with the diner, because coffee could also be had there. He parked his car in front of the entrance and took another breath. Only now he felt how crampingly he had held the steering wheel.
His hands loosened and formed into fists a few times before he got out of the car. As he stopped in front of the store, he saw the neon red sign hanging outside, glowing with the name of the store.
It was ,Franˋs Resturant and Bar. He entered the store and for a brief moment, various memories came back to him. Briefly, he thought he heard his old friends from high school and his head turned to the right.
But there he only saw a group of people who all looked like they were about to ask him for crack or something. He didn't like them and his head turned back to the front thinking he could hear their voice.
Immediately he looked for her but besides the group, two waiters, the cook and a few other characters he saw nothing.
His search came to an end when he noticed someone standing in front of him. ,,What can I get you?" said a woman's voice that sounded more annoyed than friendly and familiar.
The tired teenager only now noticed the woman in front of him and briefly a picture of the blonde Kris flashed up.
But this subsided when he noticed the black curls of the girl. ,, Ehm yes I take a coffee please with as many beans as it goes " he said and tried not to come across as his fucked friends next to them.
The woman made no effort to hide her eye roll, scribbling something on her notebook. When she looked up from her notebook, she eyed Quentin and walked away, calling out to him, ,,Honey, we only have filter coffee, we're not a fucking Starbucks".
Quentin wiped his face again before sinking into a corner of the diner. The table didn't have much to offer besides savoy holders, pepper and salt shakers, and sugar in a metal holder, there was a tea light set in a red glass.
Exhausted, tired and worn out, the eighteen-year-old leaned against the relatively soft cushion of his bench.
How much he wanted to close his eyes and sleep, or just a short nap.
So he forced his eyes open again and tensed as the dinner changed its set-up. Immediately he was alerted and wanted to grab a knife, but there was no cutlery on the table - why should there be - he hadn't ordered anything.
His gaze went from the dinner to outside where he flinched violently as the burnt grimace with the dirty grin looked at him. ,, Here's your coffee. Anything else or just coffee?" the woman's voice hauled him back. ,, Do you have pancakes?" Quentin asked, mumbling, his gaze never leaving the window.
With a small click he heard the coffee being put on the table. ,, Sure, come right away," came back an annoyed voice.
Restless, the teenager slid back and forth in his seat until his fingers went to his necklace. The coin and the cross had been hanging around his neck since the incident a year ago and had been a comforting thing ever since.
Only when he was sure that he was really in reality did he take his eyes off the window and take the first sip of coffee.
It didn't taste very good but not bad either. However, he could tell that she was right, it was filter coffee, which made him sigh.
He took another sip as the door of the diner opened. He looked outside again and sure enough, a new car had pulled into the parking lot.
The person turned out to be probably a teenager of the same age. He had wispy, slightly curly brown hair and, like Quentin, more than visible bags under his eyes. Quentin thought he saw the same uncertain look in the boy's eyes that he himself had.
Quentin's dark blue eyes swept over the boy's form and he realized that he had a slightly almost unrecognizable skewed reverberation. He shifted his weight steadily from one leg to the other as if searching for a point that would not cause him pain.
With a sip of his coffee and a glance over the cup, he saw the black-haired lady taking care of the new customer.
He averted his eyes when he saw that the woman was leading the new customer to his table. ,, I'm really sorry, but the other places are not cleaned yet. But there's still room at this nice man's table," she said softly, and Quentin saw the venomous look that was directed at him.
The boy sat down opposite Quentin and ordered a coffee as well. ,,I have to warn you, they only have filter coffee and it's really not good," he said, hoping his counterpart was talkative.
His last conversation that didn't consist of ordering medicine or please and thank you seemed so long ago. The boy in front of him looked at Quentin but he gave a small almost melancholic laugh. ,, If it's just that, I'll survive, thanks anyway," he replied, and Quentin liked the voice, it was pleasant and in a strange way he felt safe.
There was a brief hesitation in the air before the boy held out his hand to Quentin. ,, I'm Daniel, Daniel Matthews," he said and Quentin searched his memory to see if he knew him from somewhere.
He accepted the hand and shook it, even though he thought it was kind of cute. ,, I'm Quentin Smith and I'm looking forward to meeting you". The two smiled briefly at each other before Quentin took a sip of his coffee. ,, Sorry if this sounds like crap but you look exhausted when was the last time you slept?" he asked.
Quentin tensed up, but he had to smile in agony as well. When was the last time he slept - a good question.
It took him a moment before he remembered. ,,I think it was three days ago and only for a few hours," he admitted and saw Daniel's surprised and sympathetic look. ,,And you didn't seem to be fully awake either," Quentin asked the same question.
Daniel scratched the back of his head and briefly avoided the other's gaze. ,, I mean, it's been two days since I've been on the road," he admitted, and Quentin was curious.
He was about to ask the question when the employee came back to them. The woman put the coffee in front of Daniel and the plate with pancakes in front of Quentin and poured it. ,,Could you leave the pot here?" asked Daniel and Quentin was a bit surprised but suppressed a giggle when he saw the astonished look of the waitress.
Daniel pulled out a five dollar bill and held it out to the waitress with a smile on his lips.
Quentin saw the waitress smile briefly as well, and she didn't seem entirely unaffected by Daniel. So she took the money and put the pot on the table. ,, What a chamour," Quentin said and immediately poured himself the cup again, noticing the other's eye roll.
Daniel also reached for his coffee and took a sip. He grimaced, ,,It doesn't taste very good," he muttered, but took another sip anyway. After putting the cup down, he took the first bite of the pancakes.
They tasted surprisingly sweet with the syrup that was added. ,, They're good," he mumbled and saw Daniel's hungry look. He obviously has money, why doesn't he buy anything? he asked himself. ,, Don't you like pancakes?" Quentin now asked and saw how he pulled Daniel out of his thoughts.
,, No, I mean, yes, I like pancakes, but I'm careful about what I eat," he admitted, noticing the other's tenseness. ,,Food poisoning?" said Quentin, but Daniel shook his head and averted his eyes.
He nervously played with the sleeves of his sweater before running it through his tangled hair. ,, No, another kind of poison, it's been a while," he admitted slowly, beside himself.
Quentin noticed the slight trembling of Daniel's hands and the quick look around, his head jerking to the left and then to the right. Carefully he put the silverware on the plate and put his hand on Daniel's trembling one.
Daniel flinched and looked at Quentin in panic. ,, It's okay, I know what you're going through, it's over," he tried to reassure the eighteen-year-old as his mother had done with him.
Daniel did seem to calm down before he pulled an inhaler out of his pocket. He took a puff of aerosol from the inhaler and visibly calmed down. ,, Quentin, before you ask your questions, have you heard about the Jigsaw Killer?" came almost a murmur from his lips. Since Nancy disappeared a year ago, so did her mother.
Since then Quentin was both on the run and on the search. Which is why he rarely read the newspaper.
He thought he had read something about a serial killer, but it was not in the headlines in Springwood. ,,Just a serial killer on the run in New Jersey, right?" he said and saw that he was right as Daniel slowly nodded. ,, Yes, this killer known by his alias as Jigsaw is Jonathan Kramer, he, I was in one of his games," he said with such a cold emotionlessness that Quentin got goose bumps.
Daniel took his inhaler and put it on the table. ,, I've had this since I was locked in a house with other victims. We were exposed to nerve gas and I was the only one who survived. But according to Jigsaw, I now have a new will to live. The only thing the bastard gave me was a broken lung and a cracked mentality," he hissed. The light blue-eyed man showed Quentin his hands and arms as well as his upper body when he lifted the sweater.
There were scars on them, even if they were not deep, they remained. ,,The lousy bastard didn't help us, he just tortured us" he admitted before he put the inhaler back into his jacket. Instead he rummaged in his pocket for a round plastic box.
Quentin recognized the pills as painkillers, apparently even high doses. He watched with great interest as Daniel gulped down the white pill with coffee.
Before Daniel cursed and stuffed the can into his jacket. ,,Are your pills empty too?" Quentin asked suspiciously.
The other nodded and asked Quentin, ,,What are you taking?". Quentin pulled out his pills and visibly put down his box of pills. ,, I take the good old ADHD pills. But the reason is quite different. Did you hear about the teenage murders in Springwood a year ago?" Quentin asked, watching Daniel's eyes go from the pills to his.
He shook his head, ,,It's hard to read the papers when you're locked in a house and in rehab for six months," he said, taking another sip of his coffee. ,, These victims were my schoolmates and...my girlfriend. This may sound crazy but it's not me. They were abused sexually by a man who was a former gardener at the elementary school there. After their parents killed him it was quiet until one by one he killed them. He came back in the form of a dream demon. I and Na-my friend have, had defeated him so we thought at least. But after my friend and her mother disappeared a year ago, I started looking for them".
The dark blue eyes flitted to Daniel. This seemed to consider whereby he played with his sweater. ,,I, um, were you also....abused?" he asked, his gaze almost seeming tortured.
Quentin nodded silently, hiding the fact that he still sometimes felt the hands, his warmth and those wretched blades on his skin. ,,You believe me?" he asked and Daniel still seemed to be weighing the situation. ,, Honestly, yes, I mean I got involved in a death game and I don't know where my father is. I believe you Quentin that you have been terorized by this demon" he said sincerely and gently put a hand on Quentin's hand.
,, I am still haunted by him. You are lost once you sleep. However, you have to believe in him if you don't believe in him, he can't do anything to you. Besides, you can only paralyze him for a few hours if you kill him in reality," he explained to Daniel, who was listening spellbound.
Quentin also pushed up his sweater and revealed the three long cuts on Freddy's chest. These left three scars on the injured flesh that sometimes drove him mad as if the demon was scratching the flesh over and over again.
In addition, he pointed to his nose, ,,You can hardly see it or not at all the bastard has broken my nose on a hot pipe since then well nosebleeds".
Daniel nodded in recognition and was about to pour himself a sip of coffee when he noticed that the pot was empty. He sighed before he stood up, ,,I'm going to get us some more coffee, I think it's going to be a long night".
Quentin had tried to ignore it but the tingling in his stomach and his over nervousness did not come from the demon this time. His hands clenched and he closed his eyes before muttering a prayer.
He knew it was normal, he knew that love could go anywhere and his mother had always said that no matter if he loved both her and his father and for God it was okay. Besides Nancy, his love was also for Jesse, of course, he did not have the courage to confess his love to his friend.
But when his father found out about it, Quentin realized how much the world sucked, because it was a hefty smack in the face for him, literally. His father had lashed out so hard when he heard that Quentin had kissed a guy in the local church that his son almost fell to the ground.
Since then, he had been conflicted about his religion, which had sustained him in Freddy's time. A scream tore him from his thoughts and he opened his eyes in alarm.
But he calmed down only slightly when he saw that the surroundings had not changed. There he stood up and slowly walked away from the table before he ventured further towards the counter.
There was nothing there, it seemed that the dinner was completely empty. ,, Oh shit!" he cursed as he realized that Freddy had him. ,, Quentin help me!" came a voice that sounded like both Nancy and Daniel.
He ruffled his hair and kept muttering, This isn't real, this isn't real. ,, Now I am real" came from behind him from the demon. Quentin sprang around and immediately raised his fist. But Freddy had the teenager where he wanted him.
Before the fist reached Freddy, the Demon had swapped Nancy with him. Quentin reacted too late and punched Nancy so hard that she staggered backwards and landed on the floor. ,,Nancy!" he cried out and rushed to his friend. She said nothing and looked at him silently.
Instead, her hand slid to his cheek before it bulged out. Shit Freddy! he thought and Quentin threw up his arm protectively. The blades of the glove cut into the flesh, leaving deep bloody cuts.
Quentin jumped up from the ground before he started to run away. ,,My sweet little Quentin, where are you going? It's your turn to catch. Or do you want me to visit your little Daniel?" came Freddy in a genial tone.
The Demon enjoyed this panic in Quentin as he stopped abruptly and turned around to face his tormentor. ,,But from where-" the boy started and looked at the burnt man, stunned. ,,Oh, you really thought you could protect him. How sweet, maybe he really is when I'm having some fun," he laughed dirty and the blades of his glove produced sparks as he scrabbled across the bars.
Quentin walked slowly backwards and cried out as Freddy hooted again. ,,Quentin!" someone yelled at him. The yelled opened his eyes and he realized that he was back in reality. He gave a painful hiss as he looked at his arm.
Only now he noticed Daniel next to him on the floor and the waitress slowly peeking her head out from behind the counter. As well as the cook who looked out of the kitchen, only the group looked gawking at their place.
As Quentin's eyes flitted over the faces of the waiters and the cook, he saw the fear in them. They're going to call the police on you, he said in alarm. Quentin stood up holding his bleeding arm.
He rummaged in his pocket and handed the woman fifty dollars before heading for the door. Daniel was slightly overwhelmed, but hurried after his friend.
Outside it had started to rain and the drops immediately hit the forms of the two. ,,Quentin, what the hell was that?" Daniel demanded of the other.
Quentin ran his hands through his hair and clutched his necklace. ,,It was Freddy, it was that goddamn demon chasing me!" he yelled at Daniel over the rain. But instead of a rejection Daniel came up to him and hugged him. ,,I'm sorry," he simply said, and Quentin realized how long it had been since he had a hug.
His tears mixed with the rain as he caught the scent of the other. At that moment everything that had happened to him disappeared for a moment.
Only when they broke away did Daniel wave his hand through his hair. ,,Maybe we should take care of your wound before we find a place to sit," Daniel suggested.
Quentin agreed and they went to the nearest pharmacy where they both got bandages, plasters and disinfectants, but both were refused their medicines. So now they were sitting in the trunk of Daniel's car where he was treating Quentin's wound.
They sat side by side under a blanket, enjoying the well-deserved energy drink they had picked up from the store next door. The tingling in Quentin's stomach did not stop and slowly he moved closer to Daniel. ,,Lean in...I'll take care of you" Daniel murmured and Quentin seemed to see a blush on Daniel's cheeks for a moment.
Slowly he leaned his head on Daniel's shoulder before casting his eyes with a last glance at his new friend or maybe lover before closing his eyes. He felt Daniel run his hands through his hair before he went to sleep without a demon.
