Question

Would there be any interest from anyone in a blog dedicated to writers being able to showcase passages they are proud of from stories they cannot or will not finish? The wip graveyard, so to speak, where writers can submit lines they have written that would not otherwise be seen by anyone? Nope! The terms “human” and “man” are actually derived from two different linguistic roots, “human” being Latin in origin and “man” being Germanic (which is why we say “humans” instead of “humen”). On Vulcan, the linguistic developments are slightly more straightforward than English (which is a garbage language btw) which is why the Vulcan words for gendered Vulcans most closely translate to Vulcan women being called “Vulcan women” and Vulcan men being called “Dramatic™”

Spock enjoys learning about the old theories Terrans had about alien life and the Sol system during the 20th Century. He thinks they are endlessly amusing, especially the theories about Venus being a tropical swamp filled with dinosaur-like aliens.

He refuses to admit that due to the time it takes for light to travel through space, Vulcans thought much the same of Earth before finally traveling there only to discover that the dinosaurs had been wiped out for millennia. Humanoids? On this planet? It’s more likely than you think.

Spock loves his mom (let’s be honest, everyone loves Amanda) and will give in to her more human desires than most other people he knows. A classic example is his willingness to have what a Vulcan would consider a heart-to-heart with his father following the events of Journey to Babel. He has also gone on picnics with her, watched movies with her, and gone along with various other very human activities just to please her. In these respects he takes after his father much more than he realizes.

As to Jimothy, that’s just a joke that I’m pretty sure is tied back to an episode of The Office in which Michael is talking to Jim and says “Jim. James…. Jimothy?” At least that’s where I got the tag from that I put on the original SpockFact 37. While that Fact isn’t the origin of the joke of calling Kirk “Jimothy,” it definitely played a role in popularizing it.

Well he got in pretty hot water that time he and Kirk hijacked a ship in their later years, but the worst one would probably be when Sarek grounded him and Sybok for competing to see who could come up with the best logical fallacy. Sybok won. He never shuts up about it.
