Take Everything
Criminal Minds fic
Spencer Reid x OFC
Summary: Spencer made a poor choice in the past, but when there is an outbreak related to a powerful aphrodisiac in Mia's city and he shows back up, she might have to learn to forgive him.
Warnings: Adult Language, 'sex pollen', dub!con, forensic conversation, P in V sex, unprotected sex, breeding kink, other spoiler warnings in tags
W/C: 2,669
A/N: A special thanks to @firefly-in-darkness for the use of her amazing graphics/dividers. Go check her out.
Mia rubbed her temples as she looked around the crime scene. This was the fourth DOA in two weeks. Mia walked over to where the coroner was with the body. She had donned her gloves and squatted down by the man as he pulled a thermometer from the body.
“I’d say the time of death was between 3 – 5 am. But it’s hard to tell. Based on my previous autopsies, all of the victims had significantly high fevers and this will make my estimations poor at best.” The coroner cleaned his instrument and started to get the body ready for transport. “I can make some preliminary observations that support the use or overdose of Talon. Petechia around the eyes suggests a lack of oxygen. Pupils dilated and the flushed look tone of the skin all point to the hyperactivity of the nervous system.”
“Thanks, I’ll be sure to wash up,” Mia said as she stood and walked away. She took her gloves off and put them into a hazardous waste baggie.
“Hall, you’ve got to come hear this shit,” Mia’s partner called and she walked outside to join him.
It had been several months since the BAU team had been in this city. Spencer had spent almost two months here before the rest of the team had been invited. He had a personal interest in a case that they had come on, but the locals hadn’t wanted to call in the feds. Six women had died because of the mistrust between the city police and the federal agents.
Reid felt guilty about what he had done, but it’s likely that without him many more people would have died. Hotch had told him that he should never talk about what he had done to anyone after Spencer couldn’t deal with the guilt anymore, but in the end, Hotch agreed that it was a decision that saved several lives.
Deaths related to Talon were piling up all over the country. In a small, diluted amount, Talon was an aphrodisiac. However, in the past couple of months, people, especially teenagers were getting a hold of Talon in its pure form. The fine blue powder could be ingested orally or inhaled.
Hotch, Morgan, and Reid were setting up at the police station, while the others investigated the body in the morgue.
“Morgan, you and Reid start building the geographical profile. I’m gonna talk with the captain, thank him for inviting us, since we had all that trouble last time.” Hotch said before he started to walk into the bullpen.
“This is my case, Captain!
You can’t just give it to the feds without telling me.” Mia shouted from behind a closed door.
“And what kind of progress have you made on this case, Hall?” The captain had raised his voice only to be heard over the woman. “They are here to help us, play nice.”
“Good evening, Captain, thank you for inviting us on this case,” Hotchner said as he opened the door to the office. “Anything I can do to help?”
“No, Agent Hotchner, thank you for coming, here is a copy of the case file,” The captain slid the case file over, before walking out from behind his desk to help get the BAU set up.
“Play nice, Hall,”
Mia muttered under her breath as she walked out of the office and saw the other members of the BAU team.
“Fucking bet on it.”
“You okay, Hall?” one of the officers asked as she walked past her desk.
“Fucking fabulous, I’m taking the rest of the night off. Call me if someone dies,” Mia huffed as she very deliberately threw her shoulder to bump into Reid.
“Hey!” Morgan shouted at her as she walked past. Spencer tried to get him to leave the whole thing alone. “What the hell was that about? Wasn’t she the cop that got us invited on the last case?”
“Let it go, I’m sure she is still mad about how many people died last time,” Reid said, his guilt over the entire situation starting to come back to the surface.
“That’s no reason for her to take it out on you,” Morgan said watching the way his friend moved. “You were dating her, weren’t you?”
“Not really,” Spencer said trying to end the conversation and pulled out the maps and such to work on his map.
“Not really? Either you’re with someone or you’re not. Unless Spencer Reid is getting casual with his relationships.” Morgan grinned as he teased the younger agent. Reid’s ears turned red with the embarrassment that his friend was bringing up.
“Listen I don’t really want to talk about it. Can we just work? Things didn’t end well between us,” Reid finished when Morgan gave him a look begging for more information.
“Rossi says all four of the victims tested positive for Talon,” Hotch said as he came into the conference room where Reid and Morgan were set up. “There have been several people that have shown up in the ER recently with high-dose exposure. There is definitely some pure dust on the street.” Aaron put thumbtacks on the board where the DOAs had been and then flagged the locations that the survivors had claimed to have been when they thought they had been dosed.
“This is a lot of ground to cover,” Morgan said.
“We’re gonna need the cops patrolling these areas. It’d be a big help if they were all on our side.” Since the BAU team members had arrived there had been several suspicious looks and some that were downright unwelcoming. “The captain seems on board with getting our help, but I think whatever went down with Reid and Hall is causing some bad blood. I don’t need to know what it was, I’ll go call Garcia and see if we can come up with information based on the map.”
Morgan walked out of the room, obviously making space for Hotch and Reid to talk.
“You should go talk to her,”
Hotch said kindly. “I assuming that you broke things off when the case ended, and you haven’t talked to her since then.”
“Yeah, it definitely wasn’t the best thing to have done. How do I even bring the whole thing up with her? It’s been months and she is still very obviously mad. She probably won’t even talk with me. Do I just knock on her door and say I’m sorry for using you, but my friend was one of the people who was missing, and I needed a way to get on the case, so I used you?” Reid was very obviously flustered as he threw his hands into the air. “I think I really screwed up, Hotch. I think I was really into her, and now I can’t fix it.” Aaron put his hand on Spencer’s shoulder to get his attention.
“You don’t know that you can’t fix it, if you don’t try. Go talk to her. Apologize.
At least then she will know that you are sorry,” He said gently.
“Mia?” Spencer called gently as he knocked on her door. The door creaked open slightly when his knuckles rapped on the door. Concern overtook his expression, and he pulled his gun. “Mia! It Spencer, are you okay?” He closed the door and locked it behind himself so that no one would walk in behind him or leave. He heard gasping and crying from around the corner, and he prepared himself for the worst.
Reid nearly dropped his gun when he came around the corner and saw Mia lying on the rug in her living room. Her body was pointed away from him, but he could see that she had undone her jeans and let her hand slip into them and between her spread legs. Quickly, Reid put his gun and holster on the counter and rushed over to her. She was gasping and sweat had beaded all over her body. Gooseflesh pricked at Spencer, and he thought she might have turned the air conditioning to its maximum setting.
“Mia, what happened?”
Spencer grabbed one of the Talon instant test kits that he had started carrying when he was working these cases and went to get a cotton swab before he noticed that the kit already showed a little plus sign. He had simply exposed it to the air, and it was picking up contaminant. “Shit,” He cursed as he pulled out his cellphone and took off his jacket.
“Hotch,” Reid said a little louder than he intended as his teammate answered his call. “I’m at Mia’s, she’s been dosed with Talon. It must have been at her crime scene this morning. Have Paramedics get to everyone on her team that was there this morning.
I have a dose of the counteragent.
I’ll meet you at the hospital as soon as I can get her on her feet.” Reid felt the slick of sweat behind his ear as he hung up his cell phone.
“Fuck!” Mia wailed as she crunched up and grabbed Spencer’s shirt.
“I can’t breathe.” She panted.
“Mia, you’re gonna be okay.
It’s just Talon. I know it hurts,” He whispered as he let himself brush her dark hair out of her face. He was going to need to get her into a shower to lower her temperature. Her skin was clammy with fever, but he was having trouble getting up to move away from her. He felt the muscles in his stomach tightening as she moved her face close to his and her lips brushed over his.
“Why didn’t you want me?”
She groaned as she moved very quickly and straddled one of his legs. “I would have given you anything,” She said.
Reid felt his cock respond to the way that she ground herself against his thigh and the way her husky breath fanned over his mouth. She had always been one to talk when they would have sex and he had never minded. Since he had left, he had often gotten off to the words she had said to him when they were sleeping together. He had kind of thought she was ridiculous when she jumped into their relationship with both feet and told him that she loved him.
“I wanted to give you the world, but thought you would hate me when you found out about the case,”
He admitted as he realized he had never thought to ask her opinion on the whole thing and instead had ended things with her, sparing himself from her ire.
“I never cared about the case, Spence,” She whimpered when his free hand fell to where hers had been when he walked into the house. “I had hoped you would love me back. I wanted to have your baby.” It was Spencer’s turn to groan as slick started to cover his fingers. She had never talked about kids with him during sex.
Sure, he knew she wanted them, but he had been purposely ignorant about it as it pertained to their relationship.
“Make me cum, please,” She cried into his mouth as she kissed him.
It was all he could take.
He knew something was wrong but was unable to feel anything but the heat that was radiating from both of their bodies.
He wrapped his arm around her back and laid down between her legs as they fell open for him. He hadn’t noticed that she had unbuckled his belt and pants, and the way that his cock throbbed should have been a warning that he had inhaled some of the powder that was on her clothes.
Mia wiggled out of her pants as Spencer shoved his own down to his knees. It was the longest he could last without being inside of her. He hooked his long fingers into her panties and hitched them to the side as he filled her completely with a single stroke.
She whined at the sudden intrusion and Spencer thought he might fill her right then with how tight and hot she was.
“Fuck I missed you, I’m not gonna last long,” He groaned as he made small fast thrusts inside of her.
His fingers found her clit again to make sure that she finished before he did.
They were sweating like they had run a marathon when she came and clamped down so hard on him that he saw stars. He came hard.
Mia tentatively wiggled her hips and Spencer expected to be sensitive from his orgasm. But to his surprise, he found he was still hard. Had he been in his right mind he would have realized that Talon was making him hard still, and if they didn’t receive medical attention, they would just continue to fuck each other.
“Want more,” was all that Mia could get out in her feverish state.
“I’m gonna give more,”
He grunted as he leaned forward to start fucking into her again, harder this time. “And you’re gonna take everything I give you.”
“Yes, sir,” She moaned as her eyes crossed. Spencer cursed at her words. She was spurring him on with her sounds.
He had lost count of how many times he had made Mia and himself cum when she rolled him onto his back and straddled him. She took her shirt off and threw it to the side. It had landed on top of Spencer’s cellphone but neither of them noticed that.
“I thought you said you were going to give me everything,” She said as she grabbed his hands and brought them to her breasts as she rode him.
“I will,” He moaned as he rutted up into her. His thighs were starting to burn with the exertion, but he never wanted the feeling of being inside of her to end.
“Give me a baby,” she whined as she fucked him with long strokes.
He sat up and pulled her tight against his chest as they came together.
“Shit, roll over, so I can give it to you deep,” He said practically pushing her off of his dick. He kicked off the rest of his clothes and pulled Mia’s panties off, only just realizing that they had been on this whole time.
“Fuck, Spence, please.”
She cried as he lined himself up.
He took her as hard as he dared, wishing he could get his cum into her womb like this. He was aware she had started to scream his name every couple of thrusts, but neither of them noticed as the EMTs broke in the door with masks on.
Spencer’s fingers curled into her hair as they both came once more before the counteragent was aerosolized.
Mia was sitting on the side of her bathtub rubbing her temples as the headache continued to assault her.
She had woken up first at the hospital almost two days later. She was hooked up to fluids as a nurse was checking her vitals. Apparently, she was going to make a full recovery, but she needed to take it easy, and she was basically doing at-home quarantine.
She had been put on medical leave for three weeks pending her doctor’s approval, a drug test, and a psych evaluation. Something about going through a trauma and there was nothing to be ashamed of.
Her drug test was on Monday and her psych eval was later that same day. With any luck, she could return to work. Her whole body still ached, especially her core muscles, and everything surrounding them. Spencer had fucked her well, and she had enjoyed every minute of it. Thankfully he had been texting her and not trying to run away from his problems again. They had some very long conversations about trust, and Mia had decided that she wanted to give him another chance.
The alarm on her phone went off and she hit the stop button before rubbing her temples again.
“Well,” She sighed before taking a picture and sending it to Spencer.

My Gift to You
Luna gives Spencer a special bracelet.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x OFC
Word Count: 664
Warnings: none really. mentions of sensory issues but nothing major
A/N: i was rewatching jus in bello and got an idea after dean gave everyone anti-possession necklaces. she's just a wee little drabble but i wrote this in 18 minutes and im not super proud of it but tbh im a little proud bc i havent written in so long don't ask me if they have feelings for each other here bc they definitely do but theyre still newly friends and we all know babygorl spencer isn't the type to rush into relationships especially with a student in a class he TAs for
Masterlist
Ninety-one days, thirteen hours, and twenty-seven minutes after their first meeting, she gave him a bracelet.
Normally, Spencer didn’t love jewelry— necklaces moved around too much throughout the day, most bracelet materials made him uncomfortable, and rings collect five hundred and four colonies of bacteria on average. He even avoids the feeling of bare wrist against his watch (over two thousand bacterial colonies) by placing the offending item over his long-sleeve whenever he can. But as he stared at the band presented before him with little symbols etched on beads and Luna’s doe eyes, he knew that he would wear this bracelet every day of his life, sensory issues be damned.
He gently took the accessory from her hands, his eyebrows furrowing as he felt the fabric threading each bead and its soft texture. Upon a closer look, he realized it was braided cotton intricately woven in a tight pattern— nothing like he had ever seen before.
“I, uh…I figured the cotton would be easier on your skin and wouldn’t bother you as much,” Luna finally said, breaking the thickening silence that was gradually building in his office. “The pattern is supposed to be a ‘spell of protection’…if you believe that kind of stuff…same with the symbols…” she trailed off with uncertainty when he didn’t acknowledge her comment.
He stared at the complicated pattern, knowing it must’ve taken her hours to braid with such precision. Each knot was exactly the same as the one before it and the one after. There were neither frayed ends nor rough seams. Even the beads were perfectly spaced apart— 1.2 inches, if he were to guess. Each bead had a different symbol that was carefully etched on by hand. One looked vaguely like a pentagram inside of a sun— a symbol that Luna had on one of her necklaces he had seen before— and another pentagram with strange runes in between each point. Another one seemed to have characters similar to those of the ancient Germanic alphabet. He wasn’t sure what these symbols meant and why she was giving this to him, but he was in awe of the time and effort that went into the unique gift.
“Spencer, if you don’t like it, y—”
“Like it?” He cut in, his voice soft and delicate. “Like it? Luna, I love it.”
He cleared his throat and when he spoke this time, his voice was stronger and more confident as he rattled off the knowledge that he did know.
“Actually, did you know that from 3500 BCE to 3100 BCE, the ancient Egyptians were known for their intricate braids? Upper-class men and women would wear elaborate braided styles bedazzled with beads, jewels, and gold thread. It was already tightly ingrained in their culture even before Cleopatra’s revolutionary braided styles. It was believed that braiding hair would bring good luck and—”
“Ward off evil spirits,” Luna finished for him.
“Yeah.” Spencer smiled softly. “This is incredible. I’ve never gotten a gift like this before. Thank you.”
Infinite starlight could never come close to Luna’s beaming smile, and his heart skipped a beat at her poorly stifled giggles as he attempted to put on the bracelet by himself. One look at his puppy eyes and Luna caved, mirth shining in her eyes as she offered her assistance.
“What do the symbols mean?” His innate curiosity and desire to acquire new knowledge never ceased to arise when the situation presented itself.
“I’ll tell you some day,” she replied simply. “Promise me you’ll always wear it? It’ll keep away the demons.”
Her tone was light and seemingly airy, but Spencer’s perceptive nature picked up on the worry and desperation that flashed in her eyes. As she finished fastening on the accessory, she fiddled with it as she waited for his response.
“I’ll never take it off,” he promised, his words laden with truth. She had given him a special piece of her. Who was he to ever deny it?

But my peaceful life comes to an abrupt end when SSA David Rossi stands on my doorstep again, this time not with Jason Gideon, but with Spencer Reid and they come to deliver a disturbing message.

Butterflies
Pairing | Spencer Reid x Arwen Valentine
Summary | Arwen moves in with Spencer.
Word Count | 1K
The pillow that Arwen hugged to her chest was the only thing that anchored her from the butterflies swirling in her abdomen. She stared at the packed boxes in her bedroom that were waiting for her to carry down the flight of stairs and into her car, then back up another set of stairs and left in Spencer’s place. And soon leave herself there with them.
Well, “leaving” wasn’t the right word. That’s not what’s happening. Arwen was moving in.
Spencer had suggested that she moved in after she asked to sleep at his place on their way home. It became a habit for Arwen to just sleep at Spencer’s instead. Half of her things had gravitated over there anyways. It made sense when he placed the idea out, but he was so gentle while saying it. Attentive of all her issues with making large steps in a relationship.
She was waiting in the elevator with him, standing next to each other as Arwen searched for her keys - she would rather drive with him than take public transportation. And he blurted the words out. “You could move in.” Then the panic was in his eyes that Arwen saw before when he let the “L” word out. She didn’t blame him for thinking what happened last time. “I mean- I just- wanted to say, I’d be okay with it. If you wanted to.”
Arwen felt the butterflies in her abdomen then too, adjusting her bag again, trying to keep her hands busy. Trying to think about this suggestion he had laid out. “Are you sure you want to live with me?” What if this is how she ruins her second chance with him? She didn’t want to lose him. And she couldn’t help but think this could be the domino effect of them splitting once again. “You won’t get bored and annoyed from seeing me 24/7?”
“You act like I don’t already.” Spencer points out.
Touché.
The elevator doors opened to the garage. Spencer saw how she was anxiously holding her bag, and immediately knew the swirling amount of emotions she could be feeling. He tapped on her fingers clutching on her bag's strap, and her fingers relaxed and released the bag, letting him take her hand into his own. He gave a gentle squeeze.
Arwen’s mind focused on the feeling of his hand in hers. It was like Spencer had some kind of superpower able to keep the clawing anxious thoughts at bay. She didn’t know how he did it, but she also didn’t want to question it. “But, of course I’m sure. You already kinda live there, and this would just make it more permanent. And I could never get bored or annoyed with you.”
Arwen melted and agreed to the idea. They decided to do it when her lease was up at her apartment to make things easier. Her brother could still have the old apartment too so there was no worry there. She even told the twins, and immediately Sam asked if he could have her room. Everything was falling into place. Now it was the final step. The day of moving in.
Currently she was waiting for Spencer to arrive since she called for his help. She couldn’t fit everything in her car and she refused to do this in multiple trips. Spencer could help with some of the boxes that just wouldn’t fit.
It wasn’t too many boxes either since most of her things were already at his place. Their place. It’s going to take Arwen some time to get used to referring to the apartment as theirs that they own together. Not just him.
Arwen got pulled out of her thoughts when she heard her phone go off, the photo background changing to a photo of her boyfriend instead. She pressed the “answer” button and pressed it the phone to her ear with a “hello?”
“I’m here,” She heard Spencer say on the other end. “Ready?”
There was a moment of silence as Arwen searched her feelings. Was she truly ready? It was really too late to back out now. She had already made her decision. But she also found herself not panicking to run the other direction. Just the fact this was all new. And the sound of Spencer’s voice on the other end caused this wash of warmth to spread through her. “Yeah, I’m ready.”
It was like a game of tetris trying to fit enough boxes in her car. A really frustrating game of tetris. She was really glad to have called Spencer for help and put some of the boxes in his own car that just didn’t fit, but also have his help on how to get everything to fit. He kept checking in with her to make sure she was comfortable and ready. And she kept confirming, she was okay. She was ready for this.
It was hell carrying those boxes back up the stairs. By the time she put the last box down, her thighs were so sore and exhausted. She definitely could skip leg day. She could feel a sheen of sweat all over her after basically a long ass work-out she has done. She really needed a shower. But she did it. All her things were here.
Arwen felt some arms snake around her waist and Spencer pressed some kisses along her cheek. She cringed at how close he was to the grime she has built up, rather he wasn't so close to her right now. She tried to squirm out of his hold, but he just tightened his arms around her.
“Please, I’m so gross. You don’t want to be close to this.”
“Yes, I do.” He murmurs as he presses more kisses along her body.
“I’m all sweaty!”
“I don’t care!” He grinned against her skin. “You’re here finally.”
A laugh left her lips as she memorized the feeling of being in Spencer’s arms, in a space they share together now. It felt surreal they were at this point of their relationship, Arwen would never be able to do this if they were together the first time around. Or with any relationship she’s had before. The idea would have petrified her and made her run for the hills. But here she is now, being held by her boyfriend in their apartment. Arwen realized all those feelings she was having earlier wasn’t the usual anxiety she was having. It was excitement. She was excited to move in. She was so used to the butterflies meaning anxiety when, in reality, they were excited butterflies. She couldn’t wait to share a space with him. A smile grew on her lips at this realization, a sense of pride rising in her at how much not only herself has grown. But Spencer too for them to be able to make this step together.

[11:34 PM]
you’re already in bed with your boyfriend, warmth radiating from spencer's body that's flush next to your own. you face him, gently tracing your hand along his jaw. it never gets old- looking at him, being with him. it manages to feel new everyday yet still comforting and safe.
spencer smiles softly, gaze focused on his hand that runs up and down your waist and thighs, dipping under his worn t shirt you're wearing. you pull his face closer to yours, pressing you lips together sweetly, tasting his minty toothpaste. spencer hums while you instead make a noise of discomfort and pull away, pushing your hand at his chest. “you need to shave. it hurts when you kiss me.”
spencer smiles sheepishly, hand instinctively coming to rub at his chin. he hasn't shaved in a few days, almost a week, much longer than he usually went without shaving. after coming back after a case exhausted and committing to a very lazy weekend in your shared apartment, he was letting his usual ghost of a shadow grow into a prickly stubble that although looked very attractive, felt like sandpaper against your skin.
“well we can’t have that," he mutters, “i’ll do it in the morning after we shower.”
“then,” you huff, rolling over and out of his hold and spencer immediately mourns the loss of your warmth as you stare at him intently. spencer thinks you're absolutely adorable. you pout, leaning into his arm. “you can’t kiss me until the morning.”
spencer's mouth opens in mock offense and you smile softly, immediately realizing you definitely can't wait until tomorrow before resuming your duely owed kisses. “or i could do it now,” you suggest, noticing the way the corners of spencer's mouth instantly curve into a smile.
“really?”
you grin back excitedly, soothingly running your hand through his hair that's getting longer these day, “of course, that would be really nice.”
it takes a while for you two- both sleepy, to get to the bathroom as spencer lets you lead him hand in hand. he hops up on the counter while you stand between his legs as he watches you with tired eyes, smiling softly and teasing with a raised eyebrow, “you sure you know how to do this, angel?”
“yes,” you emphasize, figuring you've watched spencer do it in the mirror enough times to have some level of skill and confidence. “here, let me-” you continue, carefully gripping his chin, applying the cold shaving cream. spencer quickly pulls back, giggling, “tickles,” he sheepishly explains.
you bite back a grin, failing as you smile unashamedly. "stay still, honey." you concentrate as you finish spreading shaving cream along his skin.
neither of you say much as you begin shaving him; you’re focused on properly shaving him and spencer is mesmerized by your concentration, noting the cute way your tongue slightly pokes out as you carefully bring the razor to his chin.
you take your time, enjoying the peaceful moment spent easily with spencer and the rhythmic motion of shaving him before rinsing the razor in water. once you finish, you grab a towel and gently wipe his face clean.
“thank you,” spencer whispers, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you closer.
“of course,” you mumble into his chest, thumbing over his tinted red cheek, now flushed from your sudden closeness.
“let’s sleep,” he says, interlocking your hands and languidly tugging you toward your inviting bed.
“wait," you keep him close against you, "we have to test it out.” you remind him as spencer nods in agreement. your lips are so close that it only feels natural to meet them together for a sweet, sleepy kiss.
he wastes no time in slotting his mouth against yours, with the same passion and need spencer has whenever he gets back from a case and hasn't seen you for days; when you can tell just how much he misses you and when he sighs happily against your lips.
“better?” spencer asks when you finally pull away to take a breath. you smile up at him, enjoying the feeling of his now smooth and soft skin against yours.
"yes, very, thank you," you smile and spencer looks at you like he's incredibly endeared.
"i think i need to be thanking you, angel." he laughs softly and it’s forever the best feeling, warm, comfortable, and so familiar.

Sneak-peek. A lil something, I'm currently working on.🙈
"Y-You won't even say anything?" your voice breaks in the middle of the sentence. But looking at Spencer's teary eyes and completely shut mouth, you know, you two are done.
"I-It's over, Spencer. Please just go, you can come take your things some other day," you don't even wait for him to say anything. You go open the door and look anywhere, but him while he slowly leaves.
You don't have the courage to look at him. You hear him sniffle, but don't look. You can't see his broken face, it would be even worse than it already is.
Spencer leaves, and you slam the door shut behind him. It feels like your heart is being cut open by millions of tiny glass pieces as soon as the door closes.

Perfectly Flawed - Chapter 33
word count - 2.7k warnings - LOTS of angst, spoilers for the Lila Archer storyline, alcohol and drinking, cursing Summary: What happens in LA…doesn't always stay in LA…
"Hey, Doc. I heard you fell in a pool, are you ok?" I ask when Spencer finally answers his phone.
"Oh, u-uh, y-yeah, I did. Yeah, I'm ok, I just changed, so I'm no longer soaked. My gun's all water-logged, though," he says, and I can practically see his mouth bunching up in discontent.
"Well, it was in the line of duty, so even if you need a new one it shouldn't be a problem, I'd think," I say, walking around the hallway.
"Uh, y-yeah, I suppose..." he says uncertainly.
"Well, I know you probably have to go, but I just wanted to make sure you were ok, Spence. See you when you return!" I say brightly.
"Y-yeah, I'll see you when I get back. Bye, Lina," he says a bit awkwardly.
Hanging up the phone, I head back to the computer room, and just before I enter, I hear Penny quietly arguing, "No, Derek, I can't tell her that right now, it would break her! Yeah, I know, but...does he? Does he really? Because he really didn't act like it!"
I try to slip in quietly but bang my leg on my chair, and I hiss in surprise and pain, Penny turns around and says, "Look, I gotta go. We are not done talking about this!"
In a sweet voice and with an overly concerned look on her face, Penny rushes over to me and says, "Hey, you ok there, Lina?"
I smile at her and say, "Yeah, yeah, just whacked my leg against my chair." She nods and turns away, and I ask, "So, uh, what was that all about?"
She whirls around, her face a bit pale, and says, "O-oh, um, I'll-I'll tell you after work tomorrow, ok?"
Raising an eyebrow, I say, "Uh, ok..."
"So, how's Reid doing?" she says in a bit of a clipped tone.
I smile and say, "Oh, he's ok. His gun got all wet, but he's alright."
Penny hums and goes quiet, keys clacking as she works.
The rest of the case goes by quickly, the unsub being apprehended shortly after. We finish up and head home, Penny being unusually quiet on the drive home. I bid her good night and head upstairs.
The next morning starts as it usually does, and it isn't long before I'm waiting for the Metro. I head on, looking for Spencer, but don't see him anywhere. I send him a quick text as I sit down for the lonely ride to work.
Hey, sleepyhead! You ok, Doc? I can leave your coffee on your desk if that's ok. Hope to see you soon! :-)
Walking into work by myself, thoughts about what could have happened float around in my head. The chirp of my phone breaks through.
I'm ok, I missed my alarm! I'll be in as soon as I can! Thank you!
With a half-smile and a shrug, I head into the building. Walking into the BAU, I stop by Spencer's desk to leave his coffee and sugar there. After setting it down, a tabloid paper catches my eye.
A MYSTERY MAN IN LILA'S LIFE?
And there, a picture of Spencer and Lila Archer, Spencer's hand on Lila's shoulder, Lila's head on his hand. My stomach drops, and a sour taste overtakes my mouth. I whisper, "What the hell, Spence?" then drop the paper back on his desk and head to Penny, walking fast with my head down.
Opening the door, I see Derek in conversation with Penny. They stop when I walk in. Derek tentatively asks me, "Hey, Songbird, how are you this morning?"
I let out a disdainful sniff while putting my bag down and said, "Oh, I've been better, Derek."
He looks over at Penelope, quietly saying, "Shit, the paper's still on Reid's desk."
I turn to them and say, "Oh yeah, it's on his desk all right. Along with what's probably the last coffee I'll get him, seeing as he's got...someone else...to do things like that for him now, I guess..."
Derek walks over and starts to say, "Now, Lina, Reid's not-"
I put my hand up and say as calmly as I can, "I'm sorry, Derek, but if it's ok with you, I'd like to get to work now."
He stops and nods. He takes one last look over at Penny, then pats my shoulder as he leaves. "If you need to talk, Songbird, I-"
"I'll be fine, thank you, Derek," I say crisply, staring at my computer screen.
After he's gone, Penny comes over and hugs me, saying, "Oh, babydoll, I'm so sorry. Did you want me to come over later? I, uh, I was sort of...prepping for this after I heard, I have a bottle of wine and some rom-coms, and after work, you can just...let it all out."
I let myself be hugged and just nod, quietly saying, "Yeah Pen, that sounds good. Thank you."
I throw my headphones on, put on the loudest, fastest music I have, and spend the next 3 and a half hours furiously typing up reports. I speed through several when I suddenly see a hand being waved in my face. I blink and pause my music, and follow the hand to its owner.
"Hey, Lina. Thanks again for the coffee, I really needed it this morning. Ready for lunch?" Spencer says, a small grin on his face.
My stomach turns into a pit of ice, and all I can do is say softly, "I'm not very hungry, you go ahead. Enjoy your lunch, Spencer."
He furrows his eyebrows and hurriedly says, "Skipping meals has been linked with several negative health consequences, including your blood sugar dropping, low energy, and anxiety."
I put on a fake, tight smile and quietly say, "Yeah, well, I just...don't feel hungry right now. Go ahead without me, Spencer. I'll be fine."
"Are you sure?" he asks, fidgeting with his satchel. As I stare at my screen, away from him, and nod, he shrinks away and says, "O-ok. Um, see you later? For the ride home?"
"Don't know, I think I might get a ride with Penny tonight. Maybe hang out with her." I say softly, seeing Spencer's face fall as I say it.
"O-oh, um, hope you have fun. OK i-if I text you later?" he says.
"Sure, if you want," I tell him, voice wobbly.
He just nods and walks off, and I force myself to focus on my work. "Ouch, girly, that was a little rough," Penny says. After I turn to look at her she quickly adds, "I'm guessing he doesn't know you know about the whole-"
"Yeah, Pen, thank you. I don't need a picture painted. The tabloid had enough developed, I guess..." I say sourly.
"Oh, God, the tabloid. So you don't know about-" she starts, being swiftly interrupted by Derek at the door.
"Baby girl, could you come with me, please?" he says, giving me a small wave.
I sullenly wave back, getting back to typing as Penny goes with Derek.
After a while, she comes back, and sits down, sliding a granola bar my way. I snort and smile, grabbing it. As I open it, I quietly say, "Thanks, Pen."
"Anytime, angel. So, do you have a favorite ice cream? I figure we can stop and get some, since I know wine isn't something you normally drink." she says as she gets back to work.
"I-yeah, cookies and cream. I don't really know if I can eat much, Pen. But I think I'm up for trying wine, if that's ok." I say.
"Yeah, that's fine. So, it's a plan?" she asks.
"Sure, that sounds good Pen. Thank you." I say.
After a few hours and several more files, it's time to head home. I quickly and quietly gather my things and wait for Penny, silently walking with her to the car. After we buckle up, we get the ice cream and head to my apartment. Walking in, I drop my stuff by the door, and head to the cabinets to grab a couple of wine glasses.
"You here by yourself tonight?" Penny asks as she puts the ice cream in the freezer and opens up the wine.
"Yeah, my roommate almost always spends the weekends with her boyfriend. So it'll just be me. By myself. As usual." I say, walking over to the couch and slumping down.
After pouring two glasses of wine, Penny walks over with a glass in each hand, a bit of a grimace on her face. "N-not to add insult to injury, but, um, in addition to the, uh, tabloid pictures, there was, um, something...else?" she says, ending in a questioning squeak.
Handing me a glass, she sits in the chair close by and takes a deep breath, then says, "So, uh, there was something else that happened when Reid fell in the pool. Well, actually, from what I was told, he didn't fall, he was pulled in. By Lila."
She takes a nervous sip of wine and continues. "So, um, after...after Reid was pulled into the pool, um, he and Lila...kissed." I nod, letting her finish.
"There, er, there would have been pictures of the, uh, of-of them, but Elle destroyed them," Penny said, looking at me warily.
I sigh and just say, "Ah. Well. Thank you, Penny." then down the glass of wine. After draining it, I cough and say, "God, I don't think I'll ever get used to the aftertaste of alcohol..."
I get up and grab the wine bottle, sitting back on the couch and pouring more into my glass. After I drain that one, I start filling up my glass again, and Penny comes over and gently takes the bottle from me, saying, "Hey, Lina, let's-let's slow down on that, ok?"
I shake my head, taking gulps of the red liquid, saying, "Nope. I don't wanna feel anything right now, Pen. If there was ever a time I'd like to get drunk and be numb, it would be now."
After emptying the glass again, I go to grab the bottle and Penny sets it away from me, saying, "Ah, how-how about we stop for now, ok?"
I set my glass down, and I can feel that I'm about to cry. "God dammit..." I say quietly, and I start to feel the tears fall.
Sniffling, I look at Penny and say, "I'm such an idiot. How could I actually think that Spencer liked me like that?"
She moves over to me on the couch and holds me as I start sobbing. As she gently rubs my back, she says, "Oh, Lina. You aren't an idiot. He does like you like that."
I sit up and start laughing furiously while saying, "Right! Because nothing says 'I want to be with you' like making out with some actress in her pool!"
"Yeah, that is pretty bone-headed of him..." Penny says, taking a sip of her wine.
"Therefore, I'm an idiot!" I say, grabbing the bottle again and trying to pour more into my glass.
"Lina! Just-just give me this, ok?" Penny says, taking the bottle and glass away.
I huff and frown while saying, "So, when am I supposed to feel numb? That's the only reason I even bothered drinking. I still feel...everything. Penny, why do I still feel? I don't want to anymore..."
Laying down and curling up, I continue sniffling. Penny sets her glass down, places my head in her lap, and strokes my hair. "Hey," she says softly. "You aren't an idiot, ok? And it's good to feel, even if it hurts."
I sigh and say, "Yeah, great. You know what the worst part is?" looking up at her.
"What's that?" she asks, moving hair out of my eyes.
"I still like him. God dammit, I still like him! Why? He's made it pretty obvious he's not into me...well, this last thing makes it obvious, at least. I must be a masochist..." I say, going quiet.
Penny sighs. "You aren't a masochist. A little dramatic, maybe," she says with a smile, and I huff. "Look. Everyone except you and he can see that you two like each other. One of you has got to make a move, and it's probably going to have to be you, because, well..." she continues.
"Yeah, I think he has made his move, though. He likes tall, skinny blondes. Which I'm not." I say quietly. I sit still for a moment, then quickly head out of the living room.
"Oh no! Do you need me to hold your hair?" Penny says.
"No, I had to change because I got too hot," I say from my bedroom. "Though if I had stayed in those clothes any longer, I would have had to run to the bathroom..."
I walk back out in a tank top and shorts, glasses in my hand. "I have a feeling I'm not done crying, Pen," I sigh as I take out my contacts and put my glasses on.
"Oh, babydoll..." she starts.
I walk over to the fridge to grab a few bottles of water and then head over to the coffee table and set them there as I sit back down. I crack one open and drain half of it. "Yeah, I'm not a big fan of wine. Didn't even work. 0/10, would not try again." I say, and look at Penny.
I get a text then. I sigh as I read it.
Hey Lina. Hope you're feeling better. We're still on for tomorrow, right?
After sending him a quick text back agreeing, I sit back and rub my eyes a bit.
"You know, he probably doesn't even realize you're flirting with him. And despite what you tell Derek, you flirt with Spencer," she says, taking a small sip of wine.
Fighting a smile, I say, "Obviously, I flirt with him! I think the only one who doesn't know that is Spencer himself!" I hand Penny a bottle of water, and she takes a drink from it.
"I've seen you, though. You're too subtle. You gotta...take a mallet out and bonk him over the head with it for him to realize it. Metaphorically, I mean." she says, slowly sipping the wine in her glass.
I nod and drink the rest of my water, scrunching up the bottle and tossing it into the recycling can. "OK, so, how do I do that? I thought I was doing the obvious 'I like you' tactics..." I say, sighing.
"I swear, I could probably ask him how I should flirt with him, and he still wouldn't catch on..." I joke, opening up another bottle of water.
Penny turns to me, eyes big and mouth in an 'o', and she says, "I think that's it, Lina! You should ask him, but maybe...frame it in a way to appeal to his 'man of science' mind."
I raise my eyebrows and say, "Yeah? You think that would work?"
Penny nods and says, "And if he doesn't catch on that you're actively flirting with him, you'll at least have ways that he sees as flirting, and then do those. Though, in all honesty, you may just have to bite the bullet and tell him how you feel, Lina."
I sigh and nod. "Yeah, I think you're right. But...I think maybe I should give him a little space first. Just in case he and Lila are...you know..." I trail off and sniffle a little.
Penny finishes her wine and grabs the bottle, offering me the last of the bottle. I shake my head, saying, "Nah, I don't think I can drink anymore. Even if I don't end up with a hangover, I'm probably gonna have a headache, either from the wine or the crying."
She nods and shrugs, pouring the last few dregs into her glass. "Damn, I thought there was more in there than that..." she said, peering into the bottle.
"Sorry, Pen..." I say sheepishly.
"Nah, it did its job...kinda. Now what do you say to some ice cream and movies?" she says, setting the wine bottle and glasses aside as she brings the ice cream over.

My Baby Penguin
Prompt By @imagining-in-the-margins: Spencer and someone goes to/meet at the aquarium (I saw the Trivia post and had to write this lol ty for making it!)
Spencer Reid x F!OC (Dr. Aaliyah Hadid)
TW: mention of fear and child abductions
A/N: Sorry, this is kinda messy since it's a draft but I thought it was cute so 😭
When Aaliyah Hadid took the day off from the BAU to spend the day with her family at the local aquarium, she didn't expect to debate with a five-year-old about whether or not to get another stuffed animal. It's not like she didn't want to spoil her kid, but it would be an understatement to say that their home was already filled with toys from baby showers and previous birthdays, mostly from her unofficial aunts and uncles.
"Cleo, we talked about this," Liya says sternly while crossing her arms. "You agreed to one stuffed animal." Spencer stood between his two favorite girls struggling to pick a side while his daughter pouted.
"But mami, he's so cute! And Daddy said penguins are super cool, right Daddy?" she turned to him with her big doe eyes.
"She's right, actually. We saw the documentary about Antarctica and actually, many penguin couples can locate each other using distinct calls-" he starts to wave his hands excitedly while explaining before he is interrupted.
"Spence!" she exclaimed. "I love you and your fun facts but you aren't helping right now babe."
"Sorry sweetheart," he apologizes, leaning over to be on the same level as his daughter. "Sorry pumpkin, we already agreed to one stuffed animal right? And we know how important it is to keep our promises." She frowned and gave the soft pumpkin a big hug.
"Okay Daddy," she replied solemnly. Aaliyah chuckles against her will. Daddy's Girl.
As she puts the toy back, Spencer sighs. For some reason, he couldn't live with the guilt that came with not getting her the toy. What if she hates him? Or worse, hates him? Besides, it's just one toy...
"Liya, honey?" he pulls her aside. "Maybe we could try to work out a new agreement?"
"Spencer..." she warns him. "Did she already get to you?"
"I can't help it! She has your perfect eyes," he cradled her face in his hands. She sighed.
"Spence, I love her too, but we can't give in to her every time. We already let her have ice cream and we agreed to extra TV time. If we keep this up, she's going to feel like she can get whatever she wants without any consequence."
"Would that be a bad thing?"
"You know that's not what I- Wait, where did she go?"
"Hmm?"
The sudden dread kicked in, and it felt like their blood ran cold. The two have worked many abduction cases before and were easily able to sympathize with the parents, but this? Actually, being in this situation? It felt completely different, like wanting to freeze yet feeling a sudden urge to run in every direction possible.
Cleo couldn't have gone that far, that's for sure, and they didn't hear anything, so she was probably not taken by force. But then again, she also wouldn't leave with a stranger, the two taught her better than that.
As they spiraled through their worst fears, they found her in the corner of the other side of the store hugging another penguin that was practically her height. Spencer and Aaliyah threw their arms around the little girl, doing their best to hide their watery eyes.
"Don't ever do that to us again sweetheart, promise us," Spencer begged. All Cleo could do was nod before they released her. She showed off her newfound penguin bigger than the last one.
"I'm sorry, I wanted to show you the big penguin," she sniffled, scared she made her parents mad. Aaliyah kissed her forehead and smiled.
"You know what, fine. We'll get the big penguin. But in return, I want five good snuggles, is that okay?" she asked.
"Okay mami, I love you. And I love you, Daddy. Can you tell me more things about penguins?"
Spencer's face lit up immediately. "Of course, I can sweetheart!"
And as they left the aquarium, Aaliyah reached two conclusions. One, she loves her dorky husband and her adorable daughter unconditionally no matter the ridiculous things they can do sometimes it's not like she hasn't made mistakes either. And two, she will never let her husband handle negotiations with their daughter again.
#some dad!spencer for your day ofc because the show did him a disservice#also I wrote this w/ my OCs but feel free to imagine this as an x reader i don't really mind lol#I also wrote a version of this w/ Hotch? 😭 I cannot be stopped#spencer reid#spencer reid x fanfiction#spencer reid x female!oc#criminal minds#aaliyah hadid oc#spenliyah 🧪

one
She didn’t mean for it to happen.
Luna was well aware that Spencer would never hurt her. Spencer wasn’t him. But it was an instinct that had developed over the years of growing up under her father’s militant ways. So when Spencer raised hand to run his fingers through his hair during a heated argument, she flinched.
Her heart was pounding in her chest, and she saw Spencer’s immediate reaction: all traces of anger disappearing from his dark eyes and replaced by intense concern. So intense that she averted her gaze, backing up and curling into herself.
“Luna,” he whispered, scared that anything louder would frighten her further.
Spencer was not him.
Luna repeated this over and over in her head, building up the courage to finally look him in the eyes. Tears pooled at the unconditional worry for her that clouded his eyes.
“I’m sorry,” she breathed, knowing that anything more would break her.
“You have nothing to be sorry for,” he reasoned, but she shook her head. He slowly raised his arms, reaching out to her, and she allowed him to pull her in. The soft yarn of his cardigan brushed at her face and wiped away her tears as she sobbed into him. He murmured comforting words, but there was still dread in her heart.
She was too broken for him.
two
She awoke with a gasp, sitting straight up in bed. She could still feel the icy breath against her cheek and someone else’s warm blood that dripped from the vampire’s mouth as he trapped her against the wall. She thought she had gotten over the nightmares of her second hunt. Only fifteen years old, witnessing an older hunter— her dad’s friend— bleed dry in front of her. The fear in her heart that took over when she realized that she was next. Drowning in the acceptance of her grim fate until Dean came bursting into the warehouse and beheading the monster in one fell swoop.
“Angel?”
Spencer’s sleep-filled, raspy voice was a beacon of light in her dark memories, guiding her back to the soft sheets that she tightly gripped and his soothing caress on her back. She willed her heart to ease its pounding. The bed shifted as he sat up alongside her.
She curled into herself, shielding her body away. Shielding the world away.
This was the fourth time this week that she had woken him up in the middle of the night without explanation. She felt suffocated under his concern and her inability to tell him about the life she lived before she met him.
“Tell me what’s wrong,” he begged.
Her heart broke from the sadness lacing his tone. She shook her head.
“I can’t.”
three
They were reading when he got the call.
The shrill ringtone pierced through the comforting ambiance that they had created on his couch. His eyebrows furrowed as he picked up his phone.
“Hello…Yes, this is Dr. Spencer Reid.”
Luna continued reading, the incomprehensible voice on the phone garbled away.
“She what?”
Luna’s eyes snapped up to her boyfriend, hearing his shaky tone. His face had paled and his tight grip on the phone made his knuckles white.
“Oh my god,” he whispered, rapidly blinking away tears.
She quickly put her book down when she saw his free hand curling into a fist, his fingernails undoubtedly digging into his palm. She grabbed it and gently massaged it open, clasping it between hers. The tears overcame him, running down his cheeks as he listened to the person on the other line.
“Okay, thank you.”
The phone fell from his hands as he stared at the wall in shock. Fear gripped Luna’s heart.
“Spence?”
His eyes flicked to her and the intense pain that they held broke something inside of her.
“M-my mom…” he trailed off, and Luna knew he was reliving every single nanosecond of the phone call— the curse of his eidetic memory. He shook his head and cleared his throat before starting again.
“My mom… she’s really sick right now,” he trailed off.
Luna’s heart broke in two as she saw the broken man in front of her.
“Spence,” she said, but he shook his head, his brunette curls shaking with his head.
“I knew that she was getting worse, sometimes she even rejects her medications. I’ve been in contact with her doctor, but she has been acting up.” He said, his voice cracking with every word he spoke.
“I think that you should go see her,” Luna reasoned.
“Will you come with me?” He asked, and she hesitated.
“Are you sure?” She asked, not wanting to intrude in his personal life.
“I’m sure,” he agreed.
Luna nodded her head, assuring her boyfriend that she will be with him through thick and thin.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
“Of course,” she said, pulling him close to her, breathing in the scent of his lemon laundry detergent.

“Angel,” came the soft whispers that Luna had become familiar with waking up to.
There was a gentle kiss to the nape of her neck, and she snuggled closer into the warm body against hers. The strong arm around her waist tightened slightly at her shift.
“Fivemoreminutes,” she muttered sleepily, burrowing her head further into her pillow.
There was a gentle chuckle in response that she felt rumble through Spencer’s chest and her back.
“I guarantee you we have less than two before the rugrats wake up,” he said, drowsy sleep lacing his tone.
For a millisecond, Luna’s subconscious nudged her, a vague question of who exactly “the rugrats” referred to, but she blamed it on the haze of sleep.
“Spence,” she groaned, scrunching her eyes, refusing to awake. “Five more minutes, please.”
“Alright,” he relented in response, his voice threaded with amusement, knowing there were only a handful of times he was wrong.
True to Dr. Spencer Reid form, he was correct. One minute and forty-eight seconds later, there was a squeal from down the hall, and the young doctor chuckled once more, placing a kiss upon Luna’s shoulder as she groaned at the noise.
“I hate saying ‘I told you so’…”
“Liar,” Luna yawned, finally blinking her eyes open, taking in the way the sun streamed through the cream curtains that adorned their shared bedroom.
There was another nudge in her mind, asking when exactly they officially began to share a bedroom and why she was so familiar with the cries of two children down the hall, but again, Luna shoved the thoughts away, blaming it on her sleep-induced haze.
“You love saying ‘I told you so.’ It’s one of the only ways that you can prove your 187 IQ,” she teased, knowing that there were more than several ways for her boyfriend to prove his above-average intelligence.
“Maybe just a little,” he winked with a cheeky smile. “I love you more, though.”
Luna barely had time to reciprocate his declaration before there was a louder cry from behind the closed door. The nudging returned to her brain right in time for her to see Spencer open the door and leave, quickly returning with a small child so eerily familiar it made her heart ache.
The little girl had soft brown curls and the most adorable puppy eyes, identical to the man who carried her. Her plump cheeks were wet, signaling that she had recently cried, and she sniffled occasionally, reaching out to Luna when Spencer got close enough.
“You wanna go to Mom?” He asked in a soothing tone. The little girl blinked at him and wiggled her fingers more intensely, and Spencer chuckled before turning to Luna, handing her the girl.
Luna took the child from him, but the nudging in her mind continued, back with a vengeance.
Whose child was this? Was she “mom”?
“I thought you were Daddy’s girl,” he joked, ruffling the child’s hair. She turned away from him, burying her face into Luna’s neck, and Luna rubbed comforting circles on her back, her mind still reeling from the turn of events.
“Spence,” she murmured quietly. He hummed in response.
“Is this our daughter?”
He laughed, but his eyebrows quickly furrowed when he realized she was serious.
“…yes?” Spencer had an incredulous look in his eyes as he regarded her curiously, concern shading his gaze. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling okay?”
“I…I don’t remember her at all. I don’t remember our lives together like this?” Luna’s voice was shaky as she wracked her memory trying to figure out what was going on.
“I don’t remember any of this.”
Spencer opened his mouth to reply, but Luna’s head began to spin before she could hear what he said. Her mind was dizzy with confusion and it felt like she was losing blood, but she knew that didn’t make any sense. She felt the little girl leave her arms right before collapsing back onto the bed, darkness filling her vision.
She groaned when she finally came to, the familiar silhouettes of her older brothers leaning over her.
“Dean?” Her raspy voice sounded unfamiliar to her ears, like it hadn’t been used for days. “What’s going on?”
She went to sit up, but her head felt like it was splitting in two at every movement.
“Just hold on Lune, don’t get up yet,” her eldest brother said, coaxing her back onto the floor. “You were caught by a djinn. Don’t you remember?”
At Dean’s words, Luna suddenly remembered the supply run she was on, leaving the store with her car keys in hand before someone placed a hand on her shoulder, his eyes turning blue as she blacked out.
Her heart sank as she thought of the little girl her mind made up, and the man of her dreams, who was now only that: a dream.
“None of that was real?” Her voice cracked and a tear slipped down her cheek, thinking about the ghost of Spencer’s touch that she would never feel again.

“This is Reid,” the young FBI agent snapped into the phone, his patience running thin.
The BAU had been chasing a ritualistic killer going on three days now, and if the unsub kept to the timetable, they would strike again tonight, but the team didn’t know where.
“I—uh, I’m so sorry, Spencer,” Garcia’s soft voice came through, causing the young doctor to stop shuffling through his papers.
“What?”
“Those siblings, the Winchesters, that you asked me to keep an eye out for,” Garcia said quietly, and Spencer felt his heart sputter and then speed up.
“What about them?” He asked, his mind running through every single reason that Garcia would be apologizing. He knew in his mind what it probably was, but he refused to acknowledge it— it couldn’t be her.
“The local sheriff’s office in Monument, Colorado reported to Special Agent Victor Henriksen that they had the siblings in custody this morning,” she said, and Spencer hated that he let out a sigh of relief. At least she was alright.
“But…” Garcia continued, Spencer’s heart dropping at the single word.
“But what, Garcia?” He could hear the trembling in his voice, and he knew that Garcia could too.
“I just got a report that the building blew up…I’m sorry Spencer, but there were no survivors.”
The phone fell from his hand and he watched it hit the floor, as if in slow motion.
It couldn’t be her.
+1
Dr. Spencer Reid had faced many dangerous situations in his lifetime— kidnapped by serial killers, held at gunpoint more times than he could count, continuously putting his life on the line for civilians— but he had never been more scared than he was at this moment.
Spencer was tall, but these men were taller. Bigger. Buffer. Clad in their flannel, they stood tall, sizing up the young doctor.
“Spence,” Luna said, smiling gently at him. “You’ve already met my brother Dean, and this is Sam.”
Both brothers stuck out their hand, and Spencer knew exactly what was about to happen.
“Oh! Spencer doesn’t shake hands. It’s unbelievable how many pathogens are passed during a handshake. It’s actually safer–” “No, no, it’s okay, Angel,” Spencer gently cut her off, having experienced the awkwardness that usually follows after that particular statistic.
“Besides, shaking your brothers’ hands is the least I can do. After all, they were the ones who encouraged you to go to Caltech.”
The radiance of his girlfriend’s smile eased the pounding in Spencer’s chest, and he firmly shook the hands of the two men before him.
“Luna talks about you both all the time,” he said, shooting a loving smile at his beaming girlfriend.
“It’s a dream to finally meet you.”
