Mya could've turned out exactly like Octavian if she didn't have a support system, which makes me wonder…

If Octavian had actual family and friends like Mya, would he not have turned out how he did?

One of the themes of the story is that “You're only as good as the people next to you”.

If Jorge's former friends hadn't abandoned him, he would've turned into a jerk.

If Oliver's father hadn't abandoned him and his mother, their family life and mental state would've gone down the drain.

If Jonas didn't have the trio with him, he would've killed Octavian in revenge. 

And if Mya didn't have her new family and friends, she might not have fully recovered from her depression over losing her mother. 

Octavian… probably didn't have anyone. Idk whether or not the Protectors were raised in the Society, or recruited… or what (the way they act heavily suggests some type of indoctrination), but it sure doesn't seem to be familial-like. 

Jonas does see Spencer Albright as a father-figure, although I'm not 100% sure if Albright sees Jonas as a son.

Well, anyway, Paulla and her family were probably Octavian's first and only real family.

first of all, id like to apologize for not being so active these past weeks. they've been way busier than i expected and i wish i'd had more time to chat with you. however i do hope we'll become friends even though we didn't talk as much as i expected :)

now, about your last response to my ask:

i loved back to the future! i've watched the three films but its been a few years since i've watched them, so i cant quite remember exactly what happens. (but i do remember i liked them a lot!)

i prefer icarly mainly because i watched it more than victorious when i was a kid (i dont really know why......i just know it was easier for me to watch icarly????????). my favourite icarly episodes are any episodes where spencer has tons of screen time. i really like those where they go to japan as well! and spencer is definitely my favourite character. spencer and gibby – they are THE best!

speaking of nostalgia, i've recently started playing club penguin again. i grew up playing it, got really sad when it ended and now i'm back at it (obviously not playing the original BUT its still cool)

it really was amazing. i'm curious for what's going to be the theme for next year's presentation. i think it's going to be an even nicer experience since i'll probably feel more confident :)

hello, lilly/deimos! it’s nice to finally meet you!!! i apologize for the late response, as i’ve been busy with work and i also have a concerning tendency to stall before responding to people. so don’t even worry about giving late responses, as i completely understand how difficult it can be at times! with that being said, i hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday!

there’s this little quirk about bttf 2, which is most notably one of the most random subplots in cinematic history, where marty suddenly gets pissed off every time someone calls him ‘chicken’. it’s absolutely hilarious when you go back and watch that scene where he turns around and says, ‘nobody calls me chicken’ with a serious tone. where did this subplot come from? why is it pertinent for the movie to establish that marty doesn’t like to be referred to as a barnyard animal? i don’t know, but it’s funny as hell lmaoooo

spencer and gibby are the backbone of icarly, to be completely honest. spencer’s niche artistic expression paired in with his genuine passion for his little sister’s show is what makes him such a great character. and gibby’s eccentricities are also what makes the show so iconic even years after its final cancellation. (although, noah munck did admit that he began to feel exhausted by how fans of the show would constantly go up to him and ask him to pull off his shirt—the whole “gibbyyy” routine) it’s a shame that gibby’s anticipated spinoff show was cancelled before an official pilot was released. it would’ve been interesting to see how that character’s life would’ve progressed post-series finale. instead, we got ‘sam and cat’ ; a decent show that contained two of the most beloved characters on nickelodeon at that point in time, but a failed emulation of its predecessors

icarly tangent aside, that’s awesome that you reconnected with club penguin again! did you play any other online games that were popular at that time like petpet park, movie star planet, poptropica, ect.? (damn.. we had so many virtual games that catered to our demographic back then :( )

okay, if you receive any hints as to what’s going to be next year’s theme for your presentation, i’d love to know! it’s great to know that you’re gradually becoming more comfortable with performing in front of others!

YOU’RE RIGHT!!! pluto has never committed a single crime (besides being too short, i guess) this is a noble cause for short kings/queens worldwide : advocate for pluto’s validity as a planet!!! and hopefully, deimos makes at least a minor appearance in the most recent issues of lore olympus. he deserves more representation, poor chap :(

I'm gonna make one big mystery of the map hc masterpost because there is SO much to talk abt

the ages for mya, jorge and oliver have been left kinda vague but it's pretty easy to take a guess at what their ages would be

i'd say say mya is 12, and both jorge and oliver are 11

octavian on the other hand is probably in his mid thirties, judging by his life experience and partially his appearance

octavian greatly prefers hand to hand combat, as it's what he's most skilled in

he was a v polite, tender person while working as one of poptropica's protectors. like the kind of guy who'd go an outing with the kids of a village and have fun w them for an afternoon to distract them from the horrors of whatever's going on around them.

it was only after Paulla passed away that he turned violent, and decided he'd do whatever it took to get her back.

octavian is an ISTP

mya is an INTJ

oliver is an ISFJ

jorge is an ESFJ

I know this is poptropica we're talking about, but I really liked the way that all three kids had a pretty obvious heritage

like how mya is chinese, evident by the etymology of her surname; Wong. (I guess that doesn't really make it a hc if it's canon hnnnshdgd)

spefically, I hc Jorge as mexican and oliver as caucasian.

I haven't really thought too heavily about octavian's heritage before, as he has no given surname in the series but his complexion gives away that he may be from a latin country.

oliver ADORES the outdoors (heh). like this kid absolutely loves being outside and in nature. it's part of the reason why he wasn't totally upset when the events of mystery of the map, well, happened.

jorge on the hand is the total opposite. he prefers to spend his time indoors watching TV or using the twenty minutes of computer access he's allowed daily.

mya is a mix of both, you'll often find her studying or doing research indoors about outdoor topics.

also I refuse to believe jorge's name is pronounced "hor-hey" and there is not one soul out there that can say otherwise.

octavian is so unbelievably complex like... I could do a full thesis on his character study alone. @/poptropica I would do ANYTHING to have an in-depth view at octavian's life before he joined the protectors.

this one is a bit of a dark hc but I've always had the thought that paulla was pregnant when she passed during the eruption of mt. vesuvius. she wasn't particularly far along-, but enough that octavian was aware and was incredibly excited to finally have a family of his own.

this was also a motivational factor to why octavian was so determined to rewrite time itself just to see her again.

and even perhaps to why he was so bitter towards the kids; because they represented something he could never have of his own. something that slipped through his fingers all because of spencer's determination to preserve history.

so at the end of the series,,, they all kind of taught each other a lesson abt life... and how valuable it is to each of them,,,

I can't put my finger on to how or why, but I swear there has to be a link between the portal at the end of motm and the one that salerno goes through in lunar colony.
