The recent edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA), held from September 27 to September 29 in Abu Dhabi, has sparked controversy after Kannada filmmaker Hemanth Rao called out the event organizers for what he described as disrespectful treatment. IIFA Utsavam, a segment dedicated to the South Indian film industries—Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada—left Rao and his team deeply disappointed.

Hemanth Rao Calls Out IIFA for Disrespect

Hemanth Rao, known for directing acclaimed Kannada films like Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu and Sapta Saagaradaache Ello, took to Instagram to express his frustrations. In a detailed post, Rao shared that he and his music director, Charan Raj, were made to wait for hours, only to discover that they would not receive the awards they had been promised.

Rao described his experience as "a massive inconvenience and extremely disrespectful." Despite being in the industry for over a decade and attending various award shows, this experience stood out for all the wrong reasons. "For context, I was sat till 3 AM in the morning only to realize there was no award. The same happened to my Music Director: Charan Raj,” Rao wrote.

No Mention of Nominees

Rao also criticized the way the awards were conducted, pointing out that no nominees were mentioned during the presentation. "It's your award. You can give it to whoever you want to. That's your choice!! I haven't won MANY awards and haven't lost sleep over it, so these grapes aren't sour," he said. However, what troubled him was the lack of transparency in the process. "The format this year was just to hand out the award. The nominees weren't even mentioned."

In a sharp statement directed at the IIFA organizers, Rao remarked, “Your award shows run on the talent that you put on your stage. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. I don't need your award to enjoy the best job in the world.”

Actor Siddharth, who has always been vocal about the treatment of artists in the industry, responded to Hemanth Rao's post. Story; Best Movie For Janmashtami weekend (2022)

karthikeya kumaraswamy (Nikhil Siddharth) is a doctor with deep knowledge in science. He believes in facts rather than God or religious things. One more thing, he can control snakes very easily.  Mayer's son is admitted into the hospital and Mayer starts a homa (havan) inside OT. Karthikeya slapped him and in result, he is suspended for 2 weeks.  Karthikeya went to Dwarka (the city of Krishna) along with his mother. He gets involved in the search of lord krishna's ankle. Karthikeya gets a series of evidences which lead him to different places.  Some people are also behind that ankle with evil intentions. Why are people behind this ankle? Why is that ankle so important to them? Climax has all the answers.  Film has a unique way to explain the technology of the past like rishi muni had an ocean of knowledge and they already had invented the 'telescope' years ago.  Anupam Kher's role is short but strong. He is a big fan of Krishna and explained to Karthikeya how Krishna was brilliant. He explains that Krishna was an excellent architect, psychologist, musician and had a deep knowledge of medicine. Karthikeya admits that science and religious things have some connections together.  The story line is strong but all the evidence is way more easy to get and without any twist which somehow downs the excitement section of the movie. Movie is quite far from the track in the middle part and lengthy as well. Ajay Devgn recently had a release with Runaway 34 and his hands are full with a couple of movies. His forthcoming movies include Bhola a remake of the Tamil movie Kaithi, the sports drama movie Maidaan, Thank God with Siddharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh, next installments of Singham and Golmaal with Rohit Shetty. Karthik Aryan’s recently released movie Bhool Bhulaiya 2 is doing pretty good business at the box office and it stopped the dry spell of hit movies in Bollywood. Karthik Aryan debuted with Pyaar ka Punchnama about a decade before and right now he is one of the most busiest actors in Bollywood with movies like Freddy, Captain India, Shehzada, Satya Narayan ki Katha and Kirik Party remake. Despite being an outsider he is doing pretty good in his career and he is working with acclaimed directors also, for example, he is doing Hansal Mehta’s next movie Captain India based on a true story.

Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor is always known for doing one movie at a time and his last release was Sanju which was released four years ago in 2018. But now Ranbir Kapoor is changing his style of working and he has a pretty big lineup in the next couple of years. His next release is the biggie Brahmhastra directed by Ayan Mukerjee which is in making for the last five years, after that he has Shamshera directed by Karan Malhotra of Agneepath fame, then he is doing a rom-com with ShraddhaKapoor directed by Luv Ranjan of Pyaar ka Punchnama fame, and then there is Animal where he is working with Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol directed by Sandeep Vanga reddy who earlier directed the super hit movie, Kabir Singh.

Shahrukh Khan

Some of Shahrukh Khan’s last few releases didn’t do well at the box office and when his dream project Zero failed at the box office in 2018, he took a break and contemplated his career moves. Now he is coming back with quite a lot of movies in his kitty. His next release is the big action drama Pathan with John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. It’s directed by Siddarth Anand of War fame and after that, he is working with South director Atlee co-starring Tamil actress Nayanthara. He recently announced his first collaboration with Raj kumar Hirani with the movie Dunki. Besides these, he is doing cameos in Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmhastra and R. Madhavan’s Rocketry.

Prabhas

Prabhas became a household name with the success of the Bahubali series and became the only pan-India star in the country. He devoted five years of his life to Bahubali but now he is taking it slowly as he signed quite a few movies after Bahubali. He had releases like Saaho and Radhe Shyam after Bahubali and his upcoming movies include Om Raut’s adaptation of Ramayana titled Adipursuh, Neil Prasant of KGF fame’s Salaar, a sci-fi movie with Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan directed by Nag Aswin and Sandeep Vanga reddy’s Spirit.

Ranveer Singh

In the last one year, Ranveer Singh’s two movies were released,Kabir Khan’s 83 and Yashraj Film’s Jayeshbhai Jordar and he has many more movies to come in the upcoming days. He is next doing Rohit Shetty’s comedy movie Cirkus, a Hindi remake of Shankar’s Anniyan, Karan Johar’s next directorial Rocky and Rani ki Prem Kahani and his favorite director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bai ju Bawra. Though his last two movies didn’t do great business at the box office but he will be back with a bang with his upcoming movies.
