This image was photographed with black and white 4x5 film. I hand develop the film myself and then scan into my computer. My camera is a Graflex super D from the 1940’s. I call her “Betsy”.

This is the making of my original art work called "Violet" Its a pigment print on Mulberry paper, them I embellished it with paint and gold inks. Purple and pink hues hydrangeas in the North Carolina mountains where they are found in abundance. These are my favorite flowers. Hydrangeas mean perseverance. “Hydrangeas” Amidst the garden, in hues of delight, Purple and pink hydrangeas take flight. Clusters of petals, like dreams they unfurl, In the world of blossoms, a vibrant swirl. Sweet and serene, they whisper of love, In the garden of dreams, they shine from above. Hydrangeas, a canvas of nature's art, In their colors and beauty, they touch the heart.

“Pilgrimage”

A girl on a journey through a watery space,

God guides with blue butterflies,  a heavenly embrace.

In this submerged wood, a mystical quest, 

She walks on faith, in nature's sacred nest.

With every flutter, her spirit takes flight, 

Through trials and challenges, into the light.

The forest's secret,  gentle flow, 

The Spirit's guidance, she comes to know.

In the depths of the woods, by the river's song, 

She finds her purpose, where she belongs.

So let the blue butterflies, with their divine art, 

Guide her through the forest, and into her heart.

In this un-seen world, her spirit takes flight, 

as she is led towards the eternal light.

Apple tree

This image was photographed in the Southern Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. I used a large format 8x10 view camera with an 1800’s brass Petzval lens. I hand developed the black and white film in my darkroom. 

I call this camera “Sally”.

This image to me speaks of innocence and raw beauty.

The Lake

A glimpse of heaven

The lake is a deep and mysterous emerald liquid,calm and refreshing. Lining its boarders, delicate pastel blooms of rhododendron offering its flowers to the silky water below. Every year I long for our summer return to this lake of overflowing calm. Our days start with the quiet ofthe forest and the warmth of the cup in our hands.I feel this easy flow of real-ness, simple and settled.Each day is filled with lures, lines, the one that got away and the one that didn’t; patience. Splashing, floating,waterfall climbing and speeding across the mirror reflection of our hearts. The beautiful imperfection of our windswept hair and marshmallow mouths gathered around the fire, smoke and embers leading our eyes up to the glorious abundance of speckled lights, taking us right into eternity. Our bodies are yearning for rest. This is being truly alive.This feels like home.
