#Sooo egypt vibes(?)

There's something about earthbound I've been wondering about and i think maybe you can weigh in as the local expert. I keep seeing fans interpret jeff as British but to me that's not fully right because winters is this super cold snow country "up north" as the game says. So i always imagined him as something norse, y'know Swedish or Norwegian or Finnish maybe (heck even russian could be fun). But it's just a vibe on my end while the way Fans call him British feels like there's some canonical proof i missed somewhere? Sooo do you know if there's any big proof that jeff would be British or is it just a fanon agreement thing?

Howdy! Well, the British allegations are not unfounded. EarthBound is somewhat like Pokémon in which different areas are clearly based on real world areas based on their positioning, parallels to real world landmarks, local food, and so forth. Eagleland is the U.S., Scaraba is Egypt, and Winters is no exception!

Our first little bit of proof can be found in the Japanese manual, where it contains a rough world map. Here it is (this time, a different version to the one previously posted!) for reference and a zoomed in version including Winters in as much detail as I can provide with what I've got. I had to stitch this from a double page scan, so please forgive some artifacting issues.

There appears to be a little island in the general area of Winters and Stonehenge, just like the U.K. in real life!

But here's the question: is Winters there? I know this map is a little unclear with its huge text, but hang in there. Even though Winters looks like it might be on that rightmost landmass, take a look at the full map of Winters (which I am only linking and not embedding because it is very big), and you have Winters and Stonehenge in the same landmass; just cross the Lake Tess on Tessie!

For reference, the American manual confirms it's a lake, so either they're both on the landmass, or both on the island.

So, here's where we get to real world parallels. Lake Tess and Tessie are clearly analogues to Loch Ness and Nessie (located in northern Scotland just above England), and Stonehenge literally shares its name with its real world counterpart located in southern England. So, if we are to match these locations, then Winters would logically be on the island, meaning that Jeff would be from the EB equivalent of the United Kingdom, which encompasses England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. He could really be from any of these! Therefore, your options here would be British, Scottish, Welsh, or Irish, but it seems like British is the most common interpretation.

Mixed opinions on Egypt??

Sooo, Egypt has turned out to be kinda a mixed bag? I dont like the climate at all to start with, all these floods are really harshing on my vibe :/ And there aren't even any pretty castles! But that makes sense, because no one would wanna invade a gross desert anyway. Also where are the white people I'm lonelyyyyyyy :( I've heard some interesting stories, though! There's this monster in the desert that asks holy hermits to pray for him because God doesn't answer the prayers of monsters, which is soooo true! And Heliopolis had a pretty interesting temple where every 500 years a Phoenix dies and then resurects itself. I also went to Cario, which had long apples with an image of jesus in the middle, slaves, and seven wells that Jesus made with his feet so he could play with kids! What a cool guy! And there's a garden that they sya belonged to Joseph but idk if that's really actually? Sooo take it with a grain of salt. That's all I have to say really! About all of Egypt! ..... :)

Daevabad Similarities (Spoilers)

While I was reading, I couldn’t help thinking of other stories/movies that have similarities to the Daevabad Trilogy characters and plots. These are just SIMILARITIES, not exact, obviously. Here are a few:

Gladiator: Dara’s life as a soldier/rebel general gave me mad Maximus vibes. Family/sister’s death and the drive for vengeance from that. Not to mention, he was enslaved. Also, Dara’s desire for a peaceful life, free of having to fight/be a weapon.

The Lion King: Betrayal/Conflict between siblings, Rustam and Manizheh for sure. Daevabad “dying” under her occupation. Nahri coming to face her at the end, total Simba/Scar battle for Pride Rock vibes.

Anastasia: Nahri not having memory of her past and being an orphan in Cairo, only to find out she’s somewhat of a princess. Her “Journey to the Past” with Dara to Daevabad and them falling in love in process. 

V for Vendetta (movie): Dara is a “weapon” similar to V, and in the end, destroys those who used him to gain power. Unfortunately like V, since he’s a product of that old, destructive system of the past, for Daevabad to heal, he cannot be apart of it’s prosperous future.

The Prince of Egypt: The River Lullaby scene in the beginning makes me think of Duriya and Nahri’s last moments. 😭 Also, Muntadhir and Ali’s relationship reminds me a lot of Ramses and Moses.

Notorious (1946): This is a very old Hitchcock film, so I don’t expect many people to know this one (still very good film!), BUT mostly why it reminds me of Daevabad Trilogy is the forbidden love vs duty aspects in the film. Devlin is a US agent assigned as the contact for Alicia, who is being tapped by the US to spy on a German sympathizer/terrorist in Brazil. Early in the film they meet and fall in love, however, once it’s confirmed what the US Gov is planning to use her for, they realize they can’t be together. Devlin is torn between his duty/pride and his love for her, so throughout the film there’s a lot of this lovesick “I can’t have you, but I want you and it’s killing me” tension that is sooo Dara and Nahri in Act II of CoB.

The Bodyguard: Come on now. How can you listen to “I Will Always Love You” and NOT think of Dara and Nahri at the end of EOG? 😭

so i watched The Prince of Egypt a couple of days ago, and I literally got sooo many Kaz vibes. like the lyrics match SO well sometimes. listen to All I Ever Wanted (with Queen’s reprise) and imagine Kaz singing, wondering if this is what he really wants, if Ketterdam really is his true home, and if being Dirtyhands is who he’s supposed to be... I AM SOBBING

Riches and Wonders by etymology playground (8k oneshot) - A lighthearted gyjo fic that takes place during canon events – Two weeks after Sugar Mountain, Johnny and Gyro spend some R&R at a stand-powered onsen lmao. This was one of the first few fics I read right after finishing part 7, and it really helped to soothe the post SBR pain … not that I’m completely over it yet but then again would anyone ever be lol

Laundry by Petronia (2k oneshot) - Another lighthearted canon gyjo fic with lowkey ust lol – Johnny and Gyro take time between travels to do laundry. Idk, there’s something about gyjo domestic downtime that’s so comforting sob

see you when the sun sets east by mourn (nsfw 2k oneshot) - Two cowboys sit five feet apart from each other not talking about their repressed feelings yeehaw. Jokes aside this is a quick but intimately tender glimpse into the beginning of Johnny and Gyro’s relationship

Spin This! by polyphenols (17k multichaptered) - A modern day office au where Diego works at a new tech startup named Steel Ball Run. Honestly, I don’t think I could ever properly articulate how much I love this fic – It’s full of sooo many nods and easter eggs to all the bizarre eccentricities that happen in part 7′s canon, and I think nearly every major/minor character gets featured one way or another, if not all (everyone works in the same horrifyingly open air office space after all). The witty banter and dialogue between characters are so snappy and succinct you can’t help but smile or laugh while reading along. Diego in particular stars as the long suffering Straight Man and audience surrogate into the madness that is SBR, with a lowkey crush on HP that slowly builds as the fic progresses (there’s background gyjo too!). While there’s more of a central focus on Part 7 at first, characters from other parts also make an appearance and gradually become more involved as well. I can’t rec this fic enough!!!

Diamond Ball Run by polyphenols (15k multichaptered, Part 7 endgame spoilers) - A gyjo fix-it of sorts … Johnny takes up Funny Valentine’s offer and asks for an Alternate Universe Gyro. The fic is mostly told from Alt Gyro’s perspective in the later half, and argh this makes my heart ache in so many ways I didn’t know were possible god help me –

happy new year, johnny by 3kanite (7k oneshot, Part 7 endgame spoilers) - Aaaah I just read this one today lmao – The fic is written from Johnny’s POV over the course of several new year celebrations – pre-race and during SBR canon. It really nails Johnny’s characterisations and personality shifts down nicely and makes the last year spent with Gyro that much more bittersweet and heartbreaking oh why won’t these part 7 feels stop coming for me

desperado by 3kanite (35k multichaptered) - Features missing scenes that take place during the events of SBR – Admittedly I’ve only read the first two chapters so far and haven’t fully processed things yet but I’m already so caught up in these pre-slash gyjo feels that I can’t help but rec this one catch me crying behind Owson’s @ 3am bc it’s just that good urgh I need an adult Could possibly be nsfw but I haven’t gotten that far in yet obvs

The stranger left her after saying his goodbye and talked to Dracula now.

“Yes, I’m great. He was really friendly.”, Lucy said.

“I haven’t seen him before. Did he tell you his name?”

“No actually… But he’s from…”

“Ahhhh, Kamilah, lovely to see you again after all this time.”, Vlad greeted the Egyptian and kissed her hand politely.

Lucy noticed how cautious he was with her and yet he couldn’t help himself but to touch her in some way.

The human smiled. Kamilah told her how she once broke his feet as he tried to kiss her.

“You haven’t changed I see.”, Kamilah said.

“Adrian, it’s also nice to see you again and don’t you look delicious.”, Vlad greeted the CEO and pulled him into a short hug.

“You don’t look so bad yourself.”, Adrian returned the compliment politely.

“Nice to meet you both as well.”, Dracula said as Lily and Jax introduced themselves.

“You’re a little stiff. Maybe you should join me for a dance later and I help you to relax.”, Vlad said seductively to Jax who just looked at him blankly.

Then Dracula turned to Lucy and his eyes lit up as he looked at her body up and down.

“My my.. And who are you, gorgeous?”, he asked kissing the back of her hand.

“I’m Lucy, Adrian’s assistant.”

“You really found yourself a good one.”, Vlad told Adrian who just nodded politely.

“Excuse me I can’t help but to ask… Would you like to join me on a tour through my castle later around midnight?”, Dracula asked.

Lucy was a little surprised by the offer but then she thought about the Eye of Bathory which hang around his neck right in front of her.

This tour would be a good opportunity for her to steal it.

“I’d love to join you.”, she accepted his invitation.

Vlad smiled brightly and bowed before her.

“You won’t regret it. I make sure you’ll have a good time. Until then enjoy the ball. I’ll come back to you later.”, Dracula said and vanished to greet other vampires.

Lily was the first to speak up and she had a big grin on her face.

“Sooo… You’ll hold on to your plan now?”

“I guess… A private tour with Dracula is just the right chance I have.”

“There’s another way. I mean the tour is perfect but you don’t have to… Look I have sth that will help you to get the Eye.”, Kamilah said you pulled a little plant out of her dress.

Lucy took it irritated.

“What is it?”

“Hemlock.”

“What?! Like the poison?!”, Lucy asked stunned.

“The very same.”, Kamilah said.

“Uhhh, fuck and kill huh?”, Lily said laughing.

Kamilah frowned at her before speaking up again.

“It wouldn’t kill him but if he ingests it you’ll have enough time to take the Eye of Bathory.”

“Whatever happens we’ll stay close in case you need us.”, Adrian said.

“Just say the word and Dracula loses his head.”, Jax added.

Lucy nodded.

“Thanks guys. Let’s mingle now and wait until it’s time.”, she said.

The others nod and spread out to enjoy the party a little. Kamilah was about to go when Lucy grabbed her arm.

She turned around to look at the human not hiding the question in her eyes.

“Would you like to dance a bit?” Lucy asked.

The expression in Kamilah’s eyes grew soft and a small smile appeared on her lips.

“Of course. I’d like that a lot.”, she accepted quietly.

The women smiled at each other for a second before they held each other and danced together.

Lysimachus drank his second beer as he watched Lucy dancing with that woman. Somehow he got a strange vibe from her.

He frowned and watched her with narrowed eyes.

For a second a got a glimpse of her face and his frown only grew. It was like he should know her.

His heart lept into his throat and he couldn’t even explain why. It was like she was… But that was impossible.. Gaius told him that…

Frustrated and angry with the emotions rising up inside of him he took a long swig of his cold beer.

It was over 2000 years ago when it all happened, when his life changed. And yet he was still so broken and lost inside as if it just happened days ago.

He lost his sister, his twin that day. The closest person he ever had in his life. His family. And now he started hallucinating again by seeing her in other people. His strong and perfect but caring Kamilah.

Lysimachus gritted his teeth and angrily wiped the tear away that managed a way down his cheek.

“It happened so long ago. Get a hold of yourself, Lys…”

“Lysimachus, my friend, I wanted to check in on you after I greeted all my friends and guests.”, Dracula said as he smiled his damn bright smile and took a glas of wine from the table that was standing behind the Egyptian.

Lysimachus almost immediately put on a smile and took another sip before turning his smile into a smirk.

“Missed me already?”, he said teasingly.

“You know I’ll never give up.”

Lysimachus rolled his eyes and tried to get a glimpse of Lucy and the woman but Vlad just blocked his view.

“I see you have an eye on that human. You know I invited her on a private tour through the castle.”, Vlad told the Egyptian.

“Really?”

He looked at Vlad with a curious expression in his eyes.

“She accepted. You could join us if you want.”, Dracula invited him.

Again Lysimachus rolled his eyes but smirked.

“Fine, I’ll go with you.”

“Perfect! We’ll go at midnight.”

Lysimachus waited by the staircase as Dracula walked over to get Lucy for their little tour. By now he had another new bottle of beer from which he took a swig as he watched the woman that danced with Lucy. 

He gulped and shook his head telling himself that he was becoming insane.

“Are you ready?”, Vlad asked them both.

“He’s coming with us?”, Lucy asked surprised.

Lysimachus narrowed his eyes a little and looked into her eyes. She was up to something. He could feel it.

“Yes, Vlad invited me. But if you don’t want me to come…”

“No no, it’s alright. I was just surprised.”, Lucy said.

Vlad smiled thinking this was about getting alone time with him.

“Come now, there’s so much to show you.”, Vlad said as he dragged them up the stairs and through the castle. 

“So Lucy, how do you like my party so far?”

“It’s great. I like it. Now let me see your castle.”, she answered.

Vlad chuckled and started to explain the different rooms and halls they passed. He talked about the armors and weapons and paintings that decorated the huge building and of course he talked about himself. 

Lysimachus stayed guiet so far just listening and watching his companions. Drinking his beer now and then.

Eventually they arrived in Draculas chambers and sat down a little. Lucy turned to the Egyptian and spoke up.

“So you’re from Egypt? Can you tell me your name?”, she asked.

Lysimachus smiled.

“It’s Lysimachus. I know it’s not very common these days. Outside the yampire world I go by Keph. It comes from Khepri one of the Egyptian gods. Thought it’s better.”, the ancient vampire answers and Lucy looks at him surprised and stunned.

She was even speechless for a moment as she thought about Kamilah and how she spoke of her twin brother. 

Lucy gulped and was thankful for Dracula to say something.

“I met Lys in Rome years ago. He really caught my eye on that night market but he likes to play being hard to get which saddens me very much.”

Lysimachus smirked.

“What should I say you only get what you earn.”

“My friend what could I possibly do to finally earn your heart.”, Vlad said.

Lysimachus laughed and looked at Lucy.

“Being Miss Lucy would be enough as well.”, he said with a wink and gently stroked her cheek with the back of his index finger.

Lucy’s heart was racing and now she could see it. She saw Kamilah in his face, in his features and expressions. The familarity she felt before when they danced… it was because he was Kamilah’s twin. The one that was supposed to be dead. 

Lucy tried to remain calm. She still had a mission but how was she supposed to stay focused when Kamilahs ‘dead’ brother sat right next to her?! She wanted to run back to her friends and tell Kamilah! 

She swallowed and didn’t know what to say. Will she fail now?

Some “Atem after coming back” headcanons

Sooo some time ago @amatsubuart made a post with a lot of very good Atem headcanons and I got inspired to write some of my own !

There are also some Kaiba headcanons tying into them,,

* Atem has a very hard time getting used to the 21st century. It wasn’t that hard for him before because he didn’t have to understand anything, he had the comfort of going back into the puzzle and he had nothing to compare it to bc he didn’t have his memories. But now, he has his memories of AE and even lived in it for a few years through the Afterlife. So the differences are huge and can be overwhelming and disheartening

* More on that last point; he has quite a lot trouble getting used to the noise. All the people, all the cars, traffic, TVs, radios, phones, machinery, etc. It can just be too much. And he still has some problems with identifying certain sounds that would be evident for everyone around him (like a car’s alarm going off and he’s freaking out bc he thinks some great danger is coming or something)

* He doesn’t quite understand everything of the 21st century, so he has a certain child-like and genuine curiousity towards everything that’s new to him

* He’s pretty religious. He grew up worshipping the Egyptian gods and back in his time religion was handled a whole lot differently. So he prays a lot, makes offerings and even has a shrine. Well, especially now that he remembers the gods, he still feels somewhat guilty for losing his memories about them and therefore neglecting them

* He and Kaiba sometimes get into fights over his religion. Kaiba doesn’t quite believe in anything and finds Atem believing in “fairy tales” to be ridiculous and unbelievable. Sometimes he ends up offending Atem and his luck goes very down until Atem forgives him. Kaiba never said a thing about this to Atem because he knows Atem would have that smug look on his face and claim it’s the Gods’ punishment for insulting them. He tries to racionalize these times as just coincidences and to find some reason behind them, but sometimes he’s at loss for explanation (for example once his perfect systems shut down and he couldn’t get any work done or fix them, but as soon as he and Atem made up his systems started working perfectly again)

* Even tho he enjoys being with the Yugi friend gang, he also enjoys being alone and being with Kaiba (even if they aren’t doing anything together and do their own stuff next to each other)

* Neither him nor Kaiba ever talk about what happened during those times Kaiba went to visit him in the Afterlife and just how he managed to get Atem to return with him. But they had formed a much more stable bond than before and its apparent in both of their behaviors (Kaiba’s calmer and more balanced and Atem’s a lot more patient and forgiving towards Kaiba. Plus the both of them are less violent when it comes to competition)

* From time to time Kaiba goes as far as to give Atem difficult maths and logical puzzle books to keep his mind busy. They still play Duel Monsters, but not as much as they used to. Now they play a lot of different games and make a competition out of almost everything to challenge each other

* Both Kaiba and Yugi (+ his friend group) are protective of Atem. They lost him once and that’s something non of them would let happen again. Tho this isn’t all that obvious and they show this protectiveness in different ways (Yugi’s very caring to the point of being motherly and overcautious, Kaiba’s overly possessive and Anzu, Joey and Tristan would beat up anyone who even tried to lay a hand on Atem). Atem doesn’t understand why everyone seems to think he needs that much protection as he can look out for himself just fine, but he’s grateful nonetheless

* He lives with Yugi and Solomon and tries to take out his part in the chores around the house as much as possible. But he also has his own room at the Kaiba’s where he stays at from time to time

* He looks at Yugi like a twin brother and Solomon like a grandpa/father. He doesn’t care they aren’t his biological family, he still treats and loves them as such

* He still has his shadow powers and even tho he has more control over them, he barely uses them. Tho they can go out of control when he has a panic attack or something of that caliber

* Beside the mind crushing thing, he also has other powers, such as at times seeing ghosts, pyrokinesis, telekinesis and just having a huge energy power thing in general ((tho this is very much just a personal headcanon and ties into my au in which Atem is divine and the Egyptian Gods were present during his childhood, but more on that maybe later))

* He’s very lucky on the basis and his instincts are pretty much always spot-on, so things usually conveniently go his way

* Whenever he’s very bored, he reads books about AE and Egyptian mythology. This usually ends up with him either laughing or getting angry at how much they got wrong. But sometimes certain books and authors impress and surprise him if they turn out to be accurate

* He actually picked up the habit of talking with Ishizu from time to time. She gives him comfort bc she reminds him a lot of his era and she can talk with him about AE. He also tends to help out with translating/reading hieroglyphics and clearing up stuff about AE (like traditions, life in general, religion, etc)

* As Kaiba and Ishizu became sort of business partners, Kaiba sometimes flies out to Egypt to have business meetings with her. And he started taking Atem with him as well (just Atem, anyone else in addition would be too much). And Atem’s very grateful, he feels more at home there even if it makes him very sad bc he misses his former friends, family and people

* His fashion style is either very elegant or baggy everything and there’s no inbetween. Also lots of gold jewelry

* As his biggest fear is becoming useless, Yugi and their friend group try to keep him busy as much as they can. Ishizu tends to give him work by having him help out with AE-ian stuff. Kaiba sometimes calls him for help (which is never stated) with some of his newest technologies, mainly with testing or finding shortcuts. In addition, he also does voluntary work and helps out at different organizations like animal shelters

* More about him helping out Kaiba. Atem’s thinking and problem-solving is a lot different from anyone else’s. He grew up in a completely different era where people believed completely different things and interpreted the laws of physics in different ways. He knows how his people built the pyramids and follows the same mathematical calculation style. So whenever Kaiba gets really tangled up in his programming or calculations, Atem goes and approaches the problem on hand in a very different mannerism and usually gets a much quicker way to the correct answer or answers. Sometimes even Kaiba can’t properly understand just how Atem’s logic work

* He’s fluent in Japanese, but whenever he gets overwhelmed he starts talking in his native tongue. Solomon, Ishizu and Kaiba are the only ones who can more or less understand him and talk to him (tho Yugi also has been trying to learn ancient Egyptian and take up classes on it). And he also picked up on some English and Arabic

* As he sort of just appeared out of nowhere, they had to get all his papers made. And that process would have been a hella lot more difficult if Kaiba didn’t help out and get all of them done for Atem. It was never said why exactly he did it, but it was because he was grateful for Atem’s return and he has problems with saying thank you or expressing his feelings

* He has a bad habit of getting a bit too “royal” at times and someone needs to pull him back by telling him to stop. He got used to being the pharaoh and being treated and looked at as a sort of god, so at times he picks up a more demanding tone and orders others around, which reminds everyone of Kaiba more than Atem himself

* Thanks to getting his memories back and getting back into ruling, he has a bigger respect-demanding authorial vibe to him. He grew up in royalty and in being believed he was divine, so he was taught to have the stance of a king all the time

* He tells a lot of stories about his Gods to Yugi. He grew up on them, so they are dear to him and Yugi’s interested in listening to them. They are kind of like bedtime stories to Yugi, they have that kind of charm. And even tho Kaiba says they are bullshit and doesn’t believe in them, he’s willing to listen to these stories as well (alongside Mokuba, who openly enjoys and looks forward to them)

* He loves animals and they seem to love him as well. Stray animals always let him pet them, especially how he often gives them food. He can’t have a pet on his own tho

* He and Anzu never got together. He never had such feelings for her and her feelings sort of faded during those years when he was gone. But he’s rooting for Anzu and Yugi to get together and tries to help Yugi out even tho he has no dating experience

* He has a lot of dreams regarding AE. Most of them good, but also some bad ones like reliving his death. Some of the good dreams feel like they are the way his dead friends are communicating with him. And regardless of if it’s good or bad, after waking up he almost always cries himself back to sleep bc he feels regret and just misses his friends and family so much

* He has gotten used to the very warm weather and the constant sunshine, so being in Japan, where it’s colder and the sun shines less, has taken a toll on him. He got used to it with time, but he still gets moody bc of it at times and he has a lower cold-tolerance than most people (but at the same time he can take the heat much better than everyone around him)

* It didn’t exactly thunder in the Afterlife. There were some light rains, but that’s about it. So during the first few months of coming back, he would go outside whenever it was really raining and there were a lot of lightnings. And ofc whoever he was spending the night at (mostly Yugi, sometimes Kaiba) had to drag him back inside so he wouldn’t catch a cold. This adoration for thunders didn’t go away, but with time he learnt to just watch them through a window

What do I want?

Im on this journey of awakening & now im at a point to reflect on what do I really want? specifically... so i decided to make a list ..  - I want to be so deeply, madly in love with myself.. in a healthy way that  allows me to thrive, appreciate more, tolerate less and truly improve my quality of life. I deserve it, after so long of looking to make a love out of someone I want to realize that my truest  oldest friend & most legitimate soul mate it myself. & I dont have to feel lonely anymore if im simply focusing on the things I enjoy. being in a better space to give & recieve .  - I want to stop resisting, & instead trust, life & my intuition. In these past few days im so greatful for all the information im finally understanding one thing being how alot of the stress in my life is from resistance & from trying to control things around me. Also resisting my intuituion id like to stop doing that. When I hear about the things im letting go it feels as a loss & I havent really been understanding what im gaining. But im so tired of carrying fear or waiting for changes to occur, there are some things that i really dont want to let go off, but i am go greatful for the paitence & perspective througout this entire process.  - I want to slow down & truly be present for each moment & being aware of the energy i bring to a situation. Ive been treating life like a checklist & feeling as tho once I accomplish a,b,c then iĺl be able to fully engage or finally feel the bliss, freedom & happiness. But i choose to bring those things instead & then allow the rest to come. - I want to be creative! I have so many ideas & instead i want to align with the creating & manifesting. When ive been so shut down emotionally I realized how this has affected my sacral chakra, keeping me away from my creativety & sexuality as well. I wanna rebuild that as well as rebuilding my confidence. In high school my senior year I did alot of art classes because I liked the freedom of expression. Art teaches me alot about myself & about my level of paitence. I really would like to specialize in painting (photorealism), freelance photography & even some video recording & editing. These things make me feel alive !! & I´d like to give myself a genuine space to explore it. - I want to have fucking fun!! These past few years ive allowed my depression & adverse feelings to push me to far away from everything i loved including myself. my blog has been one of my closest means of self expression & a creative outlet. but now i miss having friends & fun!! I am being able to just take it easy, I enjoy feeling comfortable in my own skin & vibing out with new people. I miss being with people i feel relatable with , or having girl friends that hype me up & just having lots of normal girly fun with. I call it sisterhood because its so iportant to a young womens development to have a group of sisters to encourage her & also let her know when she needs to check her self.  - I want my tribe to inspire me! When i look at my tribe i wanna feel as tho they accept me & vice versa. Like its alot to learn from them in some aspect & as tho we can all love eachother unconditionally. -I want to validate myself!! With my lack of self love its had been around looking for validation I didnt even realize. Being vulnerable in the wrong ways & putting myself in uncomfortable situations simply for the validation that I matter and for all the self love that was missing. Well now I want to validate myself & go after what I want. Because I cant expect people to want my dreams more than I do. I cante xpect people to do things with me. & when i want people to keep reassuring me things are okay that from a place of fear & im releasing that fear now.  - I want to be confident!  I mean.. I feel pretty confident. But it goes deeper than that. I wanna feel confident in my appearance & in every single choice I make. Confident in my different & confident in my ability to be alone or handle responsibilities. I am ready to embrace confidence fully.  -I want discipline in the means of meditation & exercise. like responsibilities ive been avoiding i intend to truly see the benifits & prioritize them rather than resist or belittle. I feel these things will go a long way in my life & id like to see! - I want my car, my phone & my eyebrows & toes done!!! I group these together because when I think of them they make me feel like an independent adult women. sometimes the fact that I dont have these things makes me feel like im not where i want to be so i want this to motivate me. Like I feel like iv been so dependent on others & the car & phone is truly a means of freedom & indpendence. & when i get my eyebrows & feet done it makes me feel confident & feminine & I could use alot more of that. - Hitting the thousands doing what i love. this past year ive been thinking of & trying to do so much of something that I havnt compleated much of anything. I want to do what my soul really calls me to do & be able to provide myself the lifestyle where I have freedom to the highest degree. Id like to be able to afford the healthy foods or even land to start my own garden & the car & insurance to visit my family at my own accord & to go out when i want & to travel & even just take a personal day when needed. its truly my dream to be my own boss & i know its possible! Im just interesed in seeing how these thousands & millions will manifest for me. I ask for help from the universe in doing so as i release my limiting financial beliefs & embrance my abundance.  - I want to eat more vegan food, I want to feel good more often, I want to have alot of fun new experiences & be around people who enjoy doing simmilar things as me, I want to create & be the next big thing rather than wait for it & I wanna be paitent without getting my feelings involved when nessecary, I wanna embrace the wonders of life & self love to make up for all the years that was no where to be found. & deep deep down I want to be so inlove... but now with myself. - I want to go to the beach, feel the sand i my toes, people watch, charge up in the beautiful water. admire the metaphor for existance that a beach is  - i want to write poetry that flows, is genuine & vibes like i need it to & that others can relate to & enjoy that intruiges the deepest parts of people everywhere  - i want to visit & potentially build an earthship & bus to home coversion - i want to travel america with a lover in my bus conversion - i want to experience the epitomy of freedom & compassion - i want to do psychedelics when im ready  - i want my sex drive back. I litterally dont have one right now but im sure once I do it could make things a whole lot more interesting & fun. i feel shame & guilt clouding my sexuality & I wanna purify that out of me. & have truly spiritual next level sexual experiences when the time comes. - i wanna release guilt in general. about things I cant change or about my truth. - i wanna honor & understand my connection to nature & do everything I can to protect her.  - i want to travel to all these awesome places to experience other cultures, learn different languages , eat ao many amazing food & ulitmatley respect this entire creation in its entirety & ultimatley meet alot of people & have alot of experiences that make this whole thing worthwhile! & really appreciate all the different fascests of nature. I wanna go to costa rica, & egypt & the vadican to witness some of the wonders theyve stolen & france & africa & south america & just all over really. I wanna have something to offer & something to learn as I go. - I wanna go home to my heaven inside. Its calling me. & I know when I return things will be made right. - more means of experssion like enaging in my cosplay instagram ! & hopefully getting lots of followers maybe even money & also starting my youtube channel I am not always sure the details & im trying to be as specific as possible to these things can manifest but imma just be paitent & I hope this helps me & the universe & all my spirit guides & higher self in the long run. / I am sooo greatful!!!   I intend to have a relaxing day full for minfulness & self assurance & just doing whatever I want to do... / Love & light

Yesterday I finally watched the Japanese version of DSOD! It was sooo good. Like unfairly good. At least if you’re a 100% bona fide nerd like me

Kaiba, of course, is so very extra. And how can it be that no one in the entire movie ever questions the fact that he’s essentially become the dictator of Domino City!

Kaiba says he combined data on Atemu’s duels with his own memories to create the computerized version we see early on. That means he noted, and included, data about Atemu’s penchant for COMPLIMENTS. Because when Kaiba makes a good move, computer!Atemu goes, “Yaru na!” like, “Sweet move!” because, on the rare occasions that he’s fighting an opponent who’s not a jerk, he will shower them with compliments! And kaiba decided to include this. He may have rationalized it as “this is the authentic data, messing with it would set a bad precedent,” but no matter what he thought, the result was still COMPUTER!ATEMU COMPLIMENTING REAL!KAIBA SETO

It really was Atemu Jounouchi saw in his vision. Based on spoilers from before the dub came out, that was what I had gathered, but the dub made it a bit murky. However I don’t have any doubts about it now.

Speaking of Jououchi, and this is irrelevant to dub/sub, but he and Anzu are like such a great pair in this movie and it makes me regret that we didn’t get more of their antics in the original series!

Also speaking of Jounouchi, while I liked the dub’s line where he thanks Yugi after seeing Atemu, again based on spoilers I’d known this was a dub insert. I like the original way where it appears he was debating with whether he should tell Yugi he met Atemu or not better. It was also good framing since at the beginning of the movie, Jounouchi’s the one who tells Yugi he doesn’t have to bury his memories of Atemu, and Yugi clearly still has trouble talking about it out loud (that speech he gives in the dub about how much Atemu “meant” to him? Yeah, it’s very different in the Japanese - and it’s also an inner monologue).

But I was super shocked that Kaiba’s “You want to see him too, don’t you” line WASN’T a dub insert. I had thought for sure it was, but no! Kaiba really tries to convince Yugi to go along with him by dangling his friendship with Atemu over him like fish bait!

Sera really bugged me in the dub. I couldn’t believe how many posts I saw where people were fawning over her. I thought (and think) her character design is stupid. But the sub, at least, got a decent voice actress for her, and she has a lot more interesting things to say - in the dub she’s basically Ishizu Lite, with nothing to add to the story but prophecies of doom and gloom. Sub!Sera is way more bearable. I say this as someone who LIKED the dub version of DSOD.

The golden chest is Yugi’s treasure ;___; he no longer has the puzzle so the chest that once contained its pieces is his only memento of Atemu. It’s not like they could bring a camera into ancient Egypt lol. *tears*

Kaiba is such a jerk. I know he acts like double the jerk he usually is when his emotions are in turmoil, but that doesn’t mean he should get away scot free with the crap he spews! Calling Yugi a “vessel,” totally ignoring how great a duelist he is, making it clear at every chance he gets that he only cares about Atemu. Luckily in the end, Yugi had him on the ropes - yes, Kaiba was not playing rationally at that point, I don’t think a cool-minded Kaiba would ever play a card given to him freely by an opponent, at least not before he’d figured out their strategy behind giving it to him. Because obviously they would have one. It’s not like they were dueling on Christmas and midway through Yugi was like, “By the way, Kaiba-kun, I haven’t given you your present yet!” Obviously he had a strategy, and obviously that strategy was intentionally meant to parallel the technique he’d used to defeat Atemu in the ceremonial duel. So normal Kaiba would not have fallen for it. But at that time he wasn’t just playing to win anymore, he was playing to prove that Atemu could be resurrected. And Yugi was playing to prove that he couldn’t. Yugi had come to terms with things and had relative peace of mind, but Kaiba was a basketcase. The result was that duel was going to be Yugi’s win.

But, even if Kaiba had been playing rationally, Yugi could still beat him. I don’t doubt that at all. Yugi was and is a great duelist, and is even learning some showman’s flair! Not to mention that when Kaiba doesn’t play rationally, he still plays expertly, so a win over Kaiba is a true win. In the end, Kaiba doesn’t just admit to, but readily affirms Yugi’s skill. Which is good, but also a little LATE! Kaiba, next time don’t start off with insults and expect everyone to lap up your compliments after the fact just because you’re you. Even though you totally get away with it, you bastard

And when I say he cares about Atemu, I mean it, but he frames it in shitty ways like “I’ll make him a prisoner of our duel” lol lol as if the dude hasn’t been a prisoner long enough!

Was also really happy that in the original, Jounouchi’s last line is telling Yugi that he’d seen Atemu. And Yugi essentially says he’d suspected as much. That makes me look back on the entire movie a little differently, thinking about how Yugi’s mind was on Atemu almost the whole time, too afraid to really consider that Atemu’s spirit was among them, but at the same time barely daring to hope for a sign despite how much that must have hurt. He comes to the conclusion that Atemu will not come back, something he’d resigned himself to long ago, which is why the events of the movie must have felt like tearing open an old woud. And everything he does with the strength and courage he’s grown in himself is entirely his own choice, with no intention of relying on anyone else to do what needed to be done. Because he’s Yugi and he’s super responsible and wise.

That’s why I have no doubt that one day, when Kaiba gets over himself, he and Yugi will be real friends. Maybe not friends who hang out and have pizza parties, but definitely friends they can rely on. Once thing I really did prefer in the dub version, though, was the musical score for Atemu’s one and only true scene. That was some epic music. The Japanese version is nice, lots of organs, very much “a god is among us” vibe. But to me it definitely doesn’t pack the same punch. However, the credits song, Eden House’s “To Believe in Something,” is awesome.

Episode #1: "I'm ready to punch a bitch." - Timmy

I swear to god... If y'all cast any of my enemies I'm gonna DIE. I need a chance to STRIVE AND NOT DIE.

Omg getting in the game feels soo amazing, like I have said I have not played in sooo long so i feel this will be the ultimate test for my capabilities, the good thig is that not many people know each other so that’s good. My idea for the first day is just to talk to everyone see where they are if they know anyone etc etc. This is just veery exciting!

Feeling good about my tribe, most people have actually talked which is a big plus. Getting good vibes from Shea, and Miguel, and Federico a bit. If Alyssa is the Alyssa I know she’ll be fun to work with too. Still though, early days on the Kato beach. First challenge is kind of annoying though as some of the items are ??? But I’ve done some videos and I’ll try and do more.

WOOO the game has started!! I'm excited for the most part except.... THERES TOO MANY TUMBLR FACES HERE. I wanted an entirely new slate and a whole new cast for me but I guess that's a rip! I know Alyssa, StephenW, Zach, Timmy, Jess, and TJ!

I think that the idol system is definitely cute!! And I want to get an idol so yeah!

I think I'm hitting it off pretty well with Zach (He's probably good with peeps tbh), and Liam (Even though I confused his intro with Daniel's)

The challenge is a scavenger hunt aka my least favorite challenge so thanks, I hate it!!

I can already tell that this is going to be an interesting season just based on the people that I already know coming into the game. I'm happy that on my tribe I already know Tim, Jess, and Zach so that should be good for me for at least the first few rounds. I don't really want to stick with the people I already know though because that's boring. I'm happy Alyssa is on the other tribe and not my tribe right now because I have no intention on working with her because people love doing whatever she says in orgs and I'm not here for it. If we get onto a tribe together or both make it to merge, she is my target and I won't be quiet about it. Might as well focus on my own tribe for now though. Besides the 3 mentioned before, I have only spoken to Karthik who seems alright so that's good. Only issue is that he's like 10.5 hours ahead timewise so that's going to be interesting. I still need to talk to the others but all in good time.

hie girlies this is my first confessional of the SEASON! as always, i'll just give a typical analysis of each person on my tribe, how i vibe with them, etc. i'll also throw in some random pieces of info i guess woo. this is finna be long btw.

jess - she's a likeable queen but she has a big tendency to leave me on read. i think this is either her thinking i'm boring but i'm not sure. ik in TS guyana she was criticized at FTC for being lacklustre in responding so i'm hoping it's just that opposed to something on my behalf. she's really cool tho!! karthik - karthik is short in response sometimes but never leaves our convo on read, which i respect. he seems to know that i won embb9 + am 'really liked' in the community.. he rlly is delusional huh? jk ASKGDS he's great tho. i know my friends like him and he can be a great player so i'm anticipating working with him hopefully. stephen - stephen is a king too. he's someone that probably would know some of my game ig but... who knows. he's relevant in EM. our conversations have been fun and i'm really hoping to get close to him because he seems chill. timmy - i know timmy from tumblr. currently he's not that great socially but i do like him and we have a long ass snapchat streak. there are a few tumblrs in this game but afaik i don't have any bad blood with him so i'm def planning on roping him in. the most recent thing is he backdoored my mom's duo in his last org AKSGLDSG so... stan list. daniel - daniel knows me from a past org that i put no effort into, which i think is fine because i really only made it far since my duo/partner dragged me. i'mma play up a perception with him, but he is really cool as of now. i am SOOO worried that i did something bad or mean in that game and he's going 2 haunt me LOL. tim - tim is the person i've connected with most. he's really chill, actively messages me back, and is just fun and flirty. we've already talked about him and his potential boy, our favourite cereals and overall eating. i know him from tumblr too, but vaguely, but i was apart of the 'evil friendgroup' whereas he was on the other, 'nice friendgroup', but i'm hoping that has minimal impact if any. liam - liam is fine. i know him from FB but we've never interacted. he knows i played egypt so... if that's his perception of me.. i'm FLYING. he's really nice though + is a fellow canadian, so i'm hoping to get close to him. woo!! ally - saving the best for last. ally is really nice and i do like her a lot. she is sweet and like... we're great pals ?? ASGKDSG jk idk. we played a game together where i immunity ran final 6 onwards and voted her out twice (f4/3) and it left a bitterish taste in her mouth (but rightfully so for how i handled it). we are friends but i'm scared that she aint finna let me far. idk. i want her out soon bc she could do damage but i'd also be 10000% down to work with her again this game. WOOO idk. love u ally.

there's prob more but that's it for now. i'm not going to focus my game on that meta ^ whatsoever. i just need 2 keep in mind who's with who and who has some friends from before. idk. just a good mental note type thing. every game is a new slate tho so i'm not holding any preconceived notions abt them.

So, I'm really happy to be here. This is my 3rd or 4th time applying so I feel ready and excited to play! I was super happy to see Alyssa on my tribe as we get along super duper well. I like my tribe overall.

This first challenge has me a bit nervous. I started my new job today and they didn't give me a very long break for the hours I worked and my ankle and knee are really acting up (I broke my ankle in like 2014 and my knee in 2016 and they still hurt a lot sometimes). I'm worried because I'm not sure if I'm going to be physically able to like dance around and do crazy stuff like that. It sucks that the first challenge is something I can't physically.

I'm just hoping even if I don't do the best in the challenge that I can kind of make some strong social ties so I'm not the first one out if we lose. I feel really good about Alyssa, Luke, and Jake right now. My strategy is always just to be in everyones good graces. If nobody wants me out, I won't leave, that's the goal.

I was finally able to get part of my submissions from my challenge submitted and I plan on doing more tomorrow. I have been speaking with most of my tribe mates and I'm liking them a lot. I did get a bit of a late start so I'm worried some alliances might have formed but, it's all part of the game. I have good relations with Shea and Jake and I hope to further relations with Miguel and Federico so I have some solid foundations to work with and so I can hopefully have some numbers in case we go to tribal. I'm also proud of myself for going on camera multiple times for the video portion of the challenge as it was something I would have never considered doing in past orgs I have played.

I'm not the best with confessionals, but I'll try my best! I'm quite enjoying these people so far, and I've really connected well with Zach, Jess, Ally, Karthik and Tim. That being said, I don't wanna really worry about allies just yet, winning is the first priority.

So me and the tribe are getting along pretty well! The challenge is going ok so far but I still want to try and win! It seems as if we lose its Karthik.. but who knows!! Its time for fun pals and gals.

Talking with Luke about not wanting to go to tribal first but I’m low key channeling Aubrey and would love to solidify an alliance as early as possible, which tribals help with.

I'm sad that we lost although I expected to lose and I'm actually quite glad that Karthik got sent to the basement. This means they are safe without me having to campaign for them. The person with the 2nd lowest score, Timmy, should be on the chopping block to my knowledge. I'm lowkey ok with this bc he doesnt contribute much to convos…

Ahh this game has been amazing for me so far! We won the immunity challenge so I won’t have to vote anyone out! I have made genuine connections with many people in the tribe and I got kind of separate deals with, Stephen, Federico, Shea and Luke so I think they have my back. I have also talked a lot with TJ and Jake but no deal or alliance have been made with them. But as a group I don’t have like a group of allies yet just 1 on 1 alliances. In case we lose I would try to vote out either Isaac or Alyssa.

First day is over, and I can't be more relieved. I love the fact that I cannot be the first voted out, and even more, I love that I feel as if I've made some good connections so far. I really think Alyssa and I will be able to work well together. Yes, we have some stuff to work out from before, but I want it to work out such that we can work together throughout this game. I really like Federico and LH, and I'm hoping things stay this way for the time being. I'd like to keep winning, but when that time comes that we lose, I need to be ready.

Being put on a tribe with the guy who I literally got out in another game less than a month ago is a mood.... I'm working EXTRA HARD on making sure Tim likes me and trusts me. I'm going to use the fact that I'm a loyal a$$ bitch here and hope he thinks I would ride to him to the end (Honestly I probably would. I LOVE TIM).

Other than Tim the other people I'm vibing with so far are my two Canadian QUEENS: Zach and Aly. Aly seems like she can pop-off at any second but so far she seems like someone I can work with going forward. Zach on the other hand needs to STOP BRINGING UP GUYANA. For some reason he's praising me which NORMALLY I'D LOVE because I don't think the words: Jess, Praise, and Guyana have ever been said....but he's putting a target on my back.

Other than my Canucks... I really like Stephen but he's intro SCARES ME. He seems like he's going to cause some chaos down the line...

Well we just lost the challenge ;( I’m hinestlg not feeling too safe at the moment. I was one of the lower scoring players on the tribe, and the lowest was sent to the basement. Right now I feel like a sitting duck. But on the bright side, I think I made a decent connection with Zach and Timmy. So I’m just gonna talk around find out a vote. If it’s not me yay! If it is, then I’ll just have to somehow fight my way through it :p

Woooo first confessional!! I'm liking the start of this game, and I've decided to take it a bit lighter than past games. I'm here to have fun. This doesn't mean I'm not ready to strategize, but maybe the lighter tone will help me not fall under the same mistakes I always make.

I'm getting closer to Miguel and Shea, which is bad if you consider they were the lowest scores in the challenge... They better start getting more involved in this!!!

So I've gotten a chance to talk with most of the people on my tribe. Right now, my closest ally is probably Karth. We have an established history of working well together, and right now, were searching for the idol together. I'm also pretty close with Ally and Zach, and trying to get closer with Jess, though I can't tell if she thinks I'm too gamebotty or not. Ally, Zach, and Jess also seem to have some kind of relationship with each other. Idk if it's an alliance but it's something. In light of this, I'm going to be trying to get closer with Tim, Dan and Liam. I think Tim and Liam know Jess though so that might be a hurdle I need to deal with. Someone I've left out of this discussion is Timmy. I've talked with every voter so far except Dan, and they all seem okay with letting him go. There's always paranoia that they're all just playing me, but I really doubt it is gonna be the case here. My biggest worry now is what position I'll end up in if we keep losing challenges.

HELLO. Okay so we won the Selfie Scavenger Hunt which is GOOD. Someone I don’t know got sent to isolation for the other tribe but that’s fine. TJ and I were kind of on the same page of sending Jess to keep her safe which is good that we are!! She’ll be fine though because she did the best in the selfie scavenger hunt, unsurprisingly. Haven’t really talked game with anyone besides TJ because there’s hasn’t yet been a need to, but I’ve been having personal conversations with most of my tribe! Isaac just messaged me today which I think is the last one. But yeah! Things are going okay! Woo!

So me and Jess are officially aligned! I shared my idol grid with her and we talked about our tribemates. I really haven't connected with everyone but I have at least talked to them. It appears as if the vote will be Timmy unless someone magically pulls out the idol and plays it on him or the vote somehow flips on to someone else. The scary part is that Timmy is being quiet asf.... and I have no idea what is up his sleeve. The basement twist is gonna be really scary next round if we lose and someone can be sent back to the basement twice in a row…

I came into this game, saw Shea, and had an absolute fucking breakdown djdhdjdj. Like who am I? I need to get it together and push in the challenges because I didn’t help with the first one at all because seeing Shea just did something to me? Like? I’m going to try to put more effort in moving forward but right now I feel like Aubry in Kaoh Rong when she had that attack, hopefully I can recover as well as she did.

Why is Daniel trying so hard to save Timmy akdjsjs. Just... let him go in peace plz... also I'm Timmy starting to talk to people for the 1st time since the day of the vote..

I'm ready to punch a bitch. I have no idea what is happening with this tribal and I just hope it's not me. I keep hearing about the "majority" and people want to vote with the "majority" but nobody is saying who it is and what it is just that they don't want to be the one to say a name. So I'm being forced to say Liam because that's easier than Stephen even though Stephen was the one saying my name, but honestly it is what it is, I haven't spoken to Liam so I don't care that much. I just don't get why people play if they're just going to hide behind someone else because that's so stupid, like just play for you. I'm not just saying that because they're going against me, but like where has Liam been and also Stephen is the most vocal right now and he is going to be a problem later on, I can already tell.
