I was drawing Krillby and I noticed it shares a lot of similarities to Reedling. Both have bigger back limbs/paws and very short fore limbs/paws. They both blow air and make music out of their backs. Krillby makes a recorder sound while Reedling has recorder shaped spines. Both have the rock and air elements.

So I head canon that they're closely related or are both members of a group of monsters with similar attributes.
