The movie “son in law” stars pauly shore.

And the amount of queer subtext around his character is I n s a n e. Like bro was so not worried about his concepts of masculinity, and like just kinda had an aura of queer around him.

Honestly dude gave off nb vibes in the way he dressed. Like they were amazing fits that only a gnc person could make and pull off that well.

I don’t really know how to describe it but people need to know that that movie is so queer and non binary coded.

The gifs of Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan at the Oscars made me watch Encino Man which is, in turn, now setting me on a path to rewatch all of the Pauly Shore films I loved as a kid (my favorite being Son In Law). I have very little memory of the plots of these films, but I do have intensely vivid memory of that weird little man striking a chord of awe and adoration within my weird little heart.

📽️ Son in Law (1993)

This movie was my discovery of Pauly Shore, and I don’t regret it one bit. This movie is totally ridiculous, but I love it. It’s hilarious. Entertainment is based on a willingness to suspend disbelief in order to enjoy a piece. That’s definitely what you have to do to watch this, just because it’s so unbelievable. It’s not the most well-made movie; it’s not a blockbuster. But comedies aren’t usually known for their cinematography. Just relax, don’t take it seriously because you literally can’t, and enjoy it.

Sex/nudity: 3/10 (kissing, talk of sex, a bare butt, woman in a bra, some crude comments)

Language: 3/10 (nothing worse than sh*t but there is quite a bit of crude language)

Violence: 2/10 (a couple fights with some blood shown)

Overall rating: 7/10
