The absolute TRAGEDY of Erica and Aaron's sibling dynamic is getting to me. Because Aaron died so early in the series, we're slowly seeing it retroactively explored through flashbacks and stories set in the past. I don't even think at that point we knew as the reader that they were functionally adopted siblings. The way they both of them constantly argue and fight but care for each other so deeply but they're so terrible at opening up about their emotion. So that the love is always implied, but never fully expressed. The way Erica talks about him being as "real fucking asshole" and how he calls her the "mean blonde lady". The way that Aaron cried a lot when they were kids. And she was mean to him about it, but she was even meaner to the other kids that made fun of him. And she doesn't know it yet, but we as the reader know that he would and will die for her?
We had no idea about this rich sibling dynamic until it was already gone.

Fascinated by the concept that both Something is Killing the Children and The Department of Truth operate from the same horror concept but on slightly different scales that end up telling significantly different stories. Both basically use the whole horror concept of "Thought-forms manifesting into very real monsters and manipulations of reality" but with SIKTC it's pretty much exclusively monsters and with TDOT it's very American conspiracy theories being made manifest. James Tynion IV I am rotating you in my mind and by that logic, eventually it's going to summon you.
