But Sohvaperunat really captures the essence of traditional linear television as a medium!

The show has families (incl. friend groups, etc.) watch TV, and all the families watch the same set of shows -> they are gathering together to share the media as both families and as a wider community – a nation.

And this sounds a bit grandiose, but it really is significant! The change to everyone streaming their own #content and forming global subcultures (or fandoms) through the Internet from sharing the same living room with the family and the same limited set of shows with basically everyone you know is so fundamentally radical.

Sohvaperunat is kind of a quaint relic, but watching it really creates the feeling of a shared culture – you also see enough clips of the show to feel you yourself are also watching the same shows and sharing the experience. And it's using the medium of TV to recreate the wider experience of watching TV, it's so well made and works on so many levels, I love it.

Finnish tv culture is so funny if u think about it

Some really popular tv shows include:

- the president shaking people's hands (on the independence day) for hours and then those people partying

- literally other people, other families watching other tv shows (fr i'm not kidding)

We have this tv-show called "Sohvaperunat" (Couchpotatos) and basically it has ppl in it reacting to different tv-shows that air currently (They are watching tv in.... a tv show XD ) and it sometimes have these beautiful quetes from the participants espeacially when they're out of contexts XDd
