"Did someone say Senet?" The External's voice rings gaily through the temple. Dust stirs. (She arrives wearing bright sky blue this time, to avoid the faux pas of white.) Shar's face is hidden behind a veritable tower of board games, some mass produced cardboard, and others--old. Old to the point their polished wooden edges ought to be rotting.
The tower of board games in Shar's arms teeters dangerously as the jagged tear in reality oozes shut behind her, all those colors beyond mortal comprehension fading away.
"I have senet! And Monopoly!" Delighted. That's how she sounds. How did she know? How did she overhear? Does a god have no privacy anymore? She navigates her way 'blindly' across the temple, the sand rolling away from her feet with a little woosh. "And Fox and Geese! Do you play Dama? Dou Dizhu? Oh, and I've brought Surakarta, but I haven't played since at least the 1700s. How I learned to play was an interesting story, let me tell you--"
Whoosh! A worn table of stone is now dirt-free and ready for gaming!
She places the stack of games atop it with a clatter, 'dusting' off her hands. Then, she picks up the top box and spins a perfect--perfect!--about face, beaming over at him as she holds up a game board so that he can see the cover.
It's Twister.
[from externalconceit. This was supposed to be one paragraph. Stab me.]
Someone did say Senet / @externalconceit
Oh gods.
Already he was missing life before he'd drawn the eye of an overly-excitable External. Perhaps if he just acted boring enough, she'd leave for a more interesting target? That was a better idea than imagining he could (or would want to) appeal to her as an ally. Uneasy truce, maybe. Even that seemed like pushing it.
One thing was certain, she sure as hell wasn't getting him to play Twister.
"Absolutely not," he said firmly. "Not Monopoly either. I'm not made of time." Well-- no, it doesn't work like that. "The others, I will consider. It has been some time since I played Senet." And he's not betting anything on the outcome either, dammit.
#externalconceit#[For those who don't know#One of Khon's more notable myths is that Thoth challenged him to Senet and bet five days of moonlight on it#And Khon got his ass handed to him#So the calendar had to be extended by five days from 360 to 365 (so a different god could have babies#but that's a whole other thing)#Anyway I love it and Khon absolutely got more into Senet bc he's a sore loser#in character#answered asks#Idk why I started that explanation with 'for those who don't know' like this is common knowledge
