RealAgeAU Drabble - Crush Gossip
*slides in with a grin* I am here and we are here for a special installment. @spotaus get in here friend!
Blue centered drabble :D
Just as promised :3
First Drabble Prev Drabble Next Drabble
*-------------------------*
Blue moves the cleaned plates towards the cabinet before returning to the sink. He puts the whiskey glasses in and starts washing them carefully. He really enjoyed the night and their little gyftmas celebration.
Even if some aspects could have gone better. Or not happened at all.
Blue loves Dream. He really loves his best friend. But Dream needs to stop trying to help him by getting Ink to notice him.
It is fine.
A yawn and Blue doesn’t look away from the water “You are up early.”
His brother yawns as he joins his side “You are up early.” He sounds grumpy “You are already finished cleaning?”
Blue nods as he takes care to wash the smaller glasses “Of course. I know how to handle my liquor.” And he shoots Stretch a grin before frowning “Don’t you want to sleep in? Alphys will oversleep today so not notice you skipping work for a bit and Chara isn’t meant to arrive until a few days.”
Stretch huffs unhappily “Yeah yeah I know.” he yawns again as he leans against the counter as he ignores what Blue said to ask his own question “Dream and Ink out already?”
Blue shrugs “Yeah. Dream had to go again or Core would locate him again… and Ink… Well I am pretty sure Ink left midway through the party.” Blue saw how ink had checked his phone before quickly tugging his phone away and packing his things and leaving.
It stung a little.
Stretch nods as he takes the towel before waiting for Blue to finish the first glass so he can dry “It was nice to have them over.”
Blue laughs and nods “It was great!” he smiles.
Stretch chuckles before toying with the first glass “sorry it didn’t… work with Ink.”
Blue pauses before shrugging “It is fine. It isn’t like it is a surprise.” Blue had already known there was no interest anyway.
Stretch frowns at him “Blue… I know you… I know you were excited to have Ink over. You are allowed to feel disappointed.”
Blue sighs as he gives the next glass over “It isn’t a big deal” he rushes to wash the other glasses.
Stretch frowns at him “I disagree… Blue you-”
Blue pushes the last glass into his hands “There! All clean! If you can finish that up I will go to quickly fix our puzzles!”
Stretch doesn’t make a move to dry the glasses “You just said Alphys will sleep in anyway and not notice.”
Blue nods as he puffs his chest “Doesn’t mean I have to skip too! You enjoy your morning! Make sure to drink a lot of water and you know where the medicine is and-” and Blue gets stopped by magic by the front door.
Damnit he is blue now.
Stretch speaks calmly “Blue. I want to talk about this. Now.”
Blue sighs but doesn’t fight the magic and let it guide him to the couch. Stretch puts the glasse son the drying rack and joins him.
Stretch leans back against the couch “So… the mistletoe… Did Dream tell you he was planning that?”
Blue groans and shakes his skull “No… I didn’t even realise Dream added that with decorating… I found out when he pushed us under it and pointed it out.” he rubs his cheek “If I had known I would have removed it.”
Stretch nods as he leans back “Why? I thought you like Ink?”
Blue sighs as he waves his hands “I do! But it is more complicated than it just being a matter of me liking him!”
Stretch nods along and waits as he looks at him expectingly.
Blue stares at him before crossing his arms “Ink blocked my number… I don’t know why.”
Stretch looks shocked “But I thought you two were friends?”
Blue rolls up more “We are… I don’t understand why… I wasn’t even asking anything out of the ordinary or weird. Just asked him how he was doing and if he wanted to hang out with Dream and me… When I didn’t get a reply for a few hours I send him another message to ask if he was busy. Only to get an automated message back stating the number I was trying to reach had me blocked.” It was a thing they all agreed on with the multiverse phones. That if you blocked someone they should be able to know. Mostly because if it is an emergency so you don’t waste your time with messaging someone who won’t ever see your messages.
Stretch frowns “Yet… he came to the party?”
Blue shrugs “Just because Dream asked…” Dream had asked for Blue but Blue wouldn’t be surprised if Ink just wanted to come because of Dream. Blue can’t really blame him for that either. Dream is a god like Ink. And Blue is… well very mortal.
Stretch leans back “huh… strange.”
Blue sighs “Not that strange. Dream can be very convincing when he wants to be.” Which is putting it mildly.
Stretch laughs and nods “I noticed… No the strange thing is that if Ink really didn’t want to be near you he wouldn’t have gone to a private Gyftmas party in your universe.” Stretch raises a brow “Sure he has a bad memory but he should know that at least.”
Blue frowns and shrugs “I guess… I just think he wanted to be near Dream.” Which he honestly isn’t mad about. Disappointed maybe but not mad. It isn’t like it is Dream’s fault and Dream is really trying to get Ink and him to hang out. It isn’t Dream’s fault if Ink prefers to be near him over Blue.
Stretch hums “I guess.” He shoots him a curious look “Why do you even like him?”
Blue groans as he searches for the words “It is hard to explain? I don’t even know when I started to feel like this. At first I just admired him I guess? He was a protector. Of the multiverse at that. It was just… He was what I wanted to be. Someone who did good and protect people. And then I learned he didn’t just protect others but also made more worlds? He was just… He was just the coolest person and I admired him and then I got the chance to travel with him and Dream and I just… those feelings got so much more when I got to know him.”
Stretch snorts “How? He almost destroyed our world… Why like him still?”
Blue frowns as he rubs his arm “I guess… I guess it made him look like just any other person… someone who can make mistakes. He felt more real to me after that. It also helps he helped clean up that mess and made sure our world came back the way it was meant to be.” Blue sighs as he rubs his hands “Him and Dream… After you they were the only ones who believed I could do this thing. That I could protect people and everything.” Blue doesn’t know when exactly he started to feel what he feels for Ink.
Stretch hums before groaning “It is just… You are so out of his league!”
Blue blinks and stares at Stretch “What do you mean? He is a god! I am me.”
Stretch nods “Exactly! He needed all those godly powers and stuff to do what he does. You don’t. You are amazing all on your own Blue. You always believe the best in people and believe everyone deserves another chance. You are willing to look past mistakes, the situation with Ink even proves that. You are always willing to help others. You don’t believe in killing anyone but will protect those who need it. Blue you are an amazing person. And I just can’t see how you could like Ink and why you are afraid you aren’t good enough for him.”
Blue feels so embarrassed. It isn’t as if Stretch never compliments him. Hell he always says he is the most amazing every other day. But that felt more like… brothers just being supportive. This feels like more. Maybe just because it is about Ink?
Blue mutters “It doesn’t matter… He hasn’t wanted to hang out with me alone for ages now…” he sighs as he crosses his arms and lays them on his legs to try and relax.
Stretch frowns as he thinks “Maybe he… remembered what he did and feels guilty?”
Blue huffs as he looks to the side “He would have to choice to feel that. He needs his paints to feel… Look I knew from the start this crush was hopeless okay?” he hugs his legs closer “And it isn’t his fault he can’t feel like normal monsters can… or that he lacks a soul… I don’t blame him for any of that. That would be stupid. I know he has no interest in me like that…” it is why Blue feels so bad about Dream trying to help set them up.
Blue laughs as he rubs his socket as he feels the itch “If he likes anyone it would be Dream as Dream used to be able to make him feel things at least a little… Now however? I don’t know.” he lays his cheek on his leg.
Stretch frowns before nudging their shoulders together “Well… We can’t know either way. They are gods. Hell if we know what their reasoning is.” He smiles “Maybe he is just busy or distracted? And he accidentally blocked your number?”
Blue shrugs but lets himself lean against his taller younger brother “I guess.”
Stretch hums as he leans his skull on top of his “My point still stands. You are allowed to be disappointed.”
Blue shrinks in on himself “It is just stupid. I knew it was never going to work… Even if he felt anything for me it wouldn’t work as he is a god and I am not.” And he doesn’t want to be an outcode. He can’t give up his world and brother. He already almost lost both once before and he can’t deal with that. “It is just…” he feels sad “I just thought maybe he wanted to send some time with me… that we could just enjoy some time together as friends. But I guess even that isn’t that important to him anymore. Maybe it never was.”
Stretch leans heavily on top of him “You don’t know what he is thinking Blue. Maybe he really is just very busy with god stuff. Don’t you always say that you can’t assume what other people are thinking?”
Blue feels embarrassed but nods “I do… It is just… hard sometimes…” It just makes him feel worse for not being able to follow his own advice.
Stretch hums “Why not tell Dream? That you appreciate his help but know it isn’t going anywhere?”
Blue sighs and mutters “Because I did but Dream doesn’t believe in anything being impossible.” Stupid gods and their meddling.
Stretch laughs “I can imagine. Why not tell him it bothers bothers you?”
Blue shrugs and mutters “I don’t want to worry him. He is already dealing with a lot and well… It isn’t like a stupid hopeless crush is that bad of a situation…”
Stretch hums “I guess…” He thinks for a moment before grinning “Wanne see if we can meet up with the others? Just the six of us to explore some unsuspecting universe?”
Blue blinks and grins at Stretch “Seriously?”
Stretch grins and shrugs “Paps and I haven’t bothered Edge into relaxing for a while. It will be good for that stick in the mud.” He grins.
Blue blinks before nodding “Yes.”
Stretch grins as he pulls out his phone and starts texting “You get dressed. I will start up the machine.” And he blinks out of view.
Blue goes to his room and gets dressed. His hands pausing on which bandana to wear. His hand hovers over the grey one with beautiful blue details. He had gotten that in a present the year before and Blue never figured out who gave it to him. He had hoped that… well it doesn’t matter now. Blue quickly grabs his normal blue bandana and rushes down to meet up with his brother.
Stretch grins as he holds up his phone “I got confirmation from everyone that everyone is down. Sans is setting up the coordinates for us already and Edge is bringing snacks.”
Blue smiles as he wiggles in place. It will be nice to just enjoy some time with his dear friends. Just to take his mind of his hopeless love life.
Hell maybe he, Edge and Paps can go clubbing! That has been a while and will be nice to relax and let go a bit.
The machine starts up and a beautiful green portal opens. Stretch and him step through to enjoy a day out.

you are my getaway, you are my favorite place
IT’S VARIGO APPRECIATION WEEK BABY!
I’d like to thank @honeyxmonkey for the figure skater!hugo idea (sorry i don’t know how to put the hockey player varian 😭) bcs like, the og first prompt fic was trashy and hate it. by the way, idk much about figure skating, so i’m sorry if there’s some mistakes
so @alistairwrites , may i present to you my attempt on making a lil cozy and soft fic for the varigo week
——–
A sound of a door being slammed startled him until the tea spilled on the book he was reading. He groaned and got up to clean up the mess before heading out of the room to see what his boyfriend–well, hopefully it’s his boyfriend–up to. He winched when he saw him sprawled on the couch with the messiest look ever–hair tangled on his face, jacket zipped carelessy, and his face just screamed ‘I’m tired, leave me alone’.
“Hello there,” Varian smiled sadly at the sight of his tired boyfriend and got a faint nod in return. “It’s so late, I thought you’re staying at Cyrus’,” it was half past one, he rarely got home this late, he usually just slept in his friend’s apartment near the ice rink if the practice ended late.
“Yeah, I don’t know, I just wanna go home…I miss you” he said tiredly, his sore arms stretched out to his boyfriend, obviously very touch starved after a painful practice. Varian smiled and sat next to him, letting the blond cuddle his side and put his head on his shoulder. Varian sighed, thinking about how much work his boyfriend has put into for the national championship. Hugo is a passionate figure skater, practically raised by his coach Donella and has been receiving lots and lots of appreciation and trophies. This championship is a big step for him and he wouldn’t take it for granted. But he put too much on himself and sometimes he couldn’t even take it. Last week he sprained his ankle and now he’s already working too hard again.
“You’re so hard on yourself, you know?” Varian frowned as his fingers combed the older’s dishelved hair and pulled it off the ponytail. “I know this is really big for you but you need a break. Come on, Hugh, stop pushing yourself, your body have its limit,”
“Don probably won’t let me,”
“Oh, she’s not that cruel, Hugo,”
“Mmm, okay, I’ll try” Hugo snuggled closer to his boyfriend’s body, too tired to complain even though he wanted to. His eyes were already closed when Varian shook him up.
“Let’s get you changed and then we go to bed, yeah?” Varian got up and dragged Hugo with him to their shared bedroom. He started to pick clothes for Hugo in the wardrobe when a pair of hands snaked around his waist, his head nuzzled against his right shoulder.
“Today’s practice was…hard- like, really hard,” Hugo mumbled while planting small kisses on the younger’s neck. Varian was fairly confused that Hugo suddenly decided to have a conversation, but he probably just wanted to talk about his day a bit, so he let him continue. “I can’t feel my legs right now,“
"Why are you standing here then?” Varian smiled, turned his face to the younger boy and kissed his cheek softly. There’s only one answer–Hugo can be too clingy when he’s tired and Varian adored it so bad.
Hugo didn’t respond, he just smiled and kept snuggling the hell out of his boyfriend’s presence. He’s been craving the younger’s warmth in the cold ice rink all damn day, he just didn’t have any energy to let him go just for a second.
“Alright, you probably won’t let me go for any seconds but I won’t let you sleep with that,” Varian said, shoving a sweater and shorts for Hugo to change. Hugo frowned and reluctantly let go of the younger. Varian laughed softly when the blond struggled to take off his leggings but eventually helped him zipping off his jacket instead. Once the sleepware was on, Hugo immediately hugged his boyfriend again. Varian just shook his head and smiled at this weird clinginess he got when he’s tired.
“The bed is like 5 inches away you know, you don’t have to trap me here,” Varian laughed. He didn’t get any response so he just playfully picked him up and walked to their bed.
“Hey!” Hugo yelped and wrapped his legs around the younger’s hips so he wouldn’t accidentally tripped him. Sometimes he just forgot that his smaller boyfriend is actually two times stronger than him, it still caught him off guard when he picked him up like this. But he’s not complaining, though.
His still-kinda-tense body immediately relaxed when his back met the soft mattress, smiling as the dark haired boy crawled next to him. Once Varian was settled in a good position, Hugo immediately lay his head on his chest, listening to his calm and steady heartbeat while Varian’s fingers ran through his thin blonde locks.
“Hugh?”
“Hmm?”
“Please don’t ever wear yourself out too much. Don’t keep so much pressure on yourself, give me some of it if I have to. Remember that whatever happens, I will always be here supporting you, okay?” Varian said softly.
“Hmm, yeah. Have I told you I love you like- so much, blue?” Hugo mumbled as he shuffled up until he’s close enough with the younger’s face.
“Yeah, you have. A lot,” Varian smiled, leaning closer and closer to catch his boyfriend’s chapped lips. “And I love you too. Much more,” he whispered on Hugo’s lips then pulled him into a soft but passionate kiss. His hand was still tangled in Hugo’s hair while the older stroked his jaw lazily. He could hear Hugo’s breath get calmer by seconds and when he felt he was no longer kissing him back, he pulled away and smiled at his tired boyfriend who fell asleep in between their kiss.
“Goodnight, Hugh,” he whispered softly, planted a little kiss on the older’s forehead before drifting off to sleep as well.

14.)Can’t get out of the building
With a break from the Mafia AU , we go back to our OG universe in the future...
I was going to add something else to this, but decided to keep it out for another fic
After having received a letter delivered by a small bird, Atlas was a little more relieved if he was being honest with himself. The letter was from Ula, handwritten as he recognized her writing and flowery scent coming off it, so things were finally looking better after their last conversation. In the letter, she requested that he meet her in the woods after she was done with her band practice, so that was where Atlas went once the time came.
The deer clown walked around as he heard leaves and twigs crunching beneath his shoes, scanning the area as birds were heard singing and there was a soft breeze all around. Atlas stretched his arms out as he was careful not to drop the latte in his hand before he lowered his hands once again, continuing on his way before stopping as he came across a large building.
It looked like an abandoned cottage alright, so that meant he just had to wait for Ula now. And then, a sweet flowery scent hit Atlas’ nose  meaning that she was already there, and Atlas playfully rolled his eyes as he walked towards it, making sure the letter was still in his pocket. However, it never left his mind that he had never seem this cottage before.
“Is anybody home?” he called into the empty home, only hearing the ancient planks creak beneath him with every step he took. Atlas continued walking deeper into the building, looking everywhere for Ula who he guessed must have been hiding from him. Trying to scare him as always.
“Does a Shortcake happen to be somewhere around here?”
Thats when he heard a giggle that was Ula’s so he sneaked over to a room close to him. He peeked inside the room, catching a quick glance of long blonde hair which made him smirk before he jumped into the room.
“I found you!”
“Oh, you sure did.” came Ula’s voice as Atlas now saw her, and she held a hand on her lips as she gave a giggle. “I thought that you wouldn’t end up coming, Bambi.~”
“Did you think I would get scared or something?”
“Maybe.~”Ula asked as she placed her hands onto Atlas’ chest, giggling once again while fluttering her eyelashes. “But I also thought that Basil would scare you on the way here.”
“What?”Atlas furrowed his eyebrows before feeling Ula pull herself away, giving a snap of her hands as Atlas heard something creak behind him. He turned and slightly flinched at the loud sound of the bedroom door shutting, this being due to a hand that slammed it shut.
“I thought we would be...”Atlas turned back to Ula who reached up to grab her hair that, starting from the top, turned into an orange color as her eyeshadow disappeared and blue markings under her eyes turned into purple curved-like triangles with a yellow circle. “...alone.”
“Good afternoon Atlas.~”spoke Ula with a giggle, though it was no longer her voice as she completely changed into a shorter figure, one Atlas recognized as being Flora, with Basil behind him and in front of the door.
“No...I, I gotta go-”
“There’s no leaving here Atlas.”Flora fluttered her eyelashes while fixing her gloves, then turning to look at Basil. “You can move from the door, you know.”
“After what you guys did last time, I don’t want to talk to either of you.”
“Oh don’t worry, Basil won’t talk.”
“Where’s Ula?”
“Oh please.”Flora looked over at Basil who continued staring at Atlas. “You really didn’t think Ula sent you a handwritten letter, did you? The last letter she wrote like that was to somebody else who actually sent letters to her.”
“I’m not hearing any of this.” Atlas shook his head before turning and heading towards the door, being slightly startled as one of Basil’s green claws slammed itself on it. “Let me through, I am not afraid of either of you.”
“Basil, let him go.” Flora smiled before Basil retrieved his hand, Atlas watching it slither behind him which made him even more nervous than he already was. He turned back to the door, turning the doorknob as he now opened it. However, his eyes widened at the sight of razor sharp teeth and a long, slithering tongue before he shut the door in a panic.
“What the hell was that thing!?”
“Excuse you, that was Twoey.”Flora rolled her eyes as she spoke in a matter-of-fact-y tone. “They’re there making sure you don’t leave of course.”
“A giant...whatever it is! That thing, you think nobody’s going to notice that!?”
“Oh posh Atlas, nobody ever really notices a pocket dimension that exists inside a little girl’s basket.”Flora giggled as Atlas’ eyes widened. “But the point here is, we brought you over because we want to talk. And talk only.”
“If I listen and am not treated like last time, will you let me go?”
“Of course.” Flora nodded before Basil snapped his fingers, chairs appearing behind him and his sister which they sat down on. At the same time, another appear behind Atlas before it moved behind him, making him fall back on it as he now sat in front of the siblings, divided by a table full with a tea set as Flora served.
“Tea?”
“No thanks.”
“Hm, your loss.”she shrugged before taking her teacup. “Mother makes the best teas ever, she’s practically a witch with what she adds to them.”
“What do you guys want with me?” Atlas interrupted as he glared at the siblings, though he knew he was no match against Basil’s expression that never ceased.
“Well, first of, we want to say that we no doubt started on the wrong foot. Especially with Basil being petty to you since the day you met those many years ago.” Flora started before taking a sip from her tea. “And we have been treating you rather badly.”
“Yeah, thanks for telling me. I never realized that.”
“Anyways. Our point here is that we wanted to...well, let me say this before anything. My brother and I have a certain goal that we hope to achieve, no matter what we must do.”
“Okay, and what does this have to do with me?”
“Now, that’s the thing. It doesn’t, but you’re in the way.” Flora stated before Atlas furrowed his eyebrows. “And don’t even try reading our minds, we’re so far past those funny party tricks.”
“What’s-”
“Our goal we will not share.”Flora interrupted Atlas who frowned a little deeper. “But, I can tell you that as we attempt to reach it, we don’t want anymore...conflicts.”
“Okay.”
“So, we want to apologize.”
Atlas’s eyes widened as he stared at Flora and then Basil, shaking his head as he tried to comprehend what was just said.
“Wait, what?”
“We want to apologize.”Flora repeated before Atlas checked the teacup he had been offered, realizing it was still full.
“You guys didn’t do anything weird to me, right? I mean, besides putting me in a pocket dimension with some creature making sure I don’t get out.”
“No, Atlas. We want to apologize to you, unless you don’t want it nor the truce we offer.”
“No, tell me.”
“Well as I’ve already said three times, we want to offer you an apology for all the trouble we have brought upon you. Mother nor father never taught us to act in such a way.”Flora served herself some more tea, taking a sniff of its sweet scent. “And so, we offer a truce. You stop being a jealous deer every time Ula talks to any other person that is not from your family or friend group. You especially refrain from feeling any sort of jealousy when she talks to Schrader who she wants a friendship from. And, you stop feeling like a damn rebound, you idiot.”
Atlas’ eyes widened at Flora’s words, raising a hand to speak before she lifted a finger to silence him.
“We know how you feel about the whole situation, and we find it hurtful that you blame Ula for this.”
“Blame her!?”
“Yes, Atlas, blame her! Maybe you don’t realize it but you think to yourself,” Flora cleared her throat before her voice changed into Atlas’. “Ula didn’t tell me that her ex-boyfriend was back, I had to learn from her friends! Ula didn’t accept my comfort when she needed it, she instead went to some kids I hate! Ula didn’t tell me that she was going to go talk to her ex-boyfriend before going to him! Sound familiar?”
“I...”
“Exactly Atlas.”Flora shook her head while taking a sip from her tea before hissing at him. “So selfish. Ula doesn’t have to tell you everything she does, and she doesn’t always have to rely on you for everything. She has other friends and family, yet you feel like the top priority for being her boyfriend. Was she your priority while you were on trips with your grandfather?”
“I, no...wait, I, I don’t-”
Flora waved a hand before Atlas’ mouth was closed shut, and he struggled to open it.
“I don’t want to hear it. I just want to know, if you accept this truce. In turn, we will respect your relationship with Ula and not interfere. Though, I can’t promise Basil won’t be all over her like a baby to its mother.” Flora waved her hand once again, letting Atlas open his mouth. “Now, what about it?”
Atlas stared in between the siblings who stared at him, both radiating disturbing vibes...if they were being honest...
“And what if you do continue on with this behavior?” he asked before the siblings turned to each other, then glancing back at him.
“We’ll be out of your lives. For good.” Flora spoke, whispering the last part before she nudged Basil, and he lifted a hand towards Atlas. “Now, let’s shake on it, yes?”
Atlas squinted his eyes at Basil’s hand, slowly lifting his own and bringing it towards Basil’s. He didn’t want last time to be repeated yet, it sounded like a pretty good deal. After what seemed like hours, Atlas’ hand finally grabbed Basil’s, feeling how it was rather rough. Soon, they shook hands as Atlas gave a quiet sigh of relief.

My bestie Aimee came to visit us for ten days in July! The last time we were together in Paris was March 2015.
Since it was the middle of summer and unbearably hot in Paris, we took a road trip to the seaside towns of Deauville, Trouville and Honfleur. Lucky for us, the weather was much cooler. We stayed at a beautiful, historic bed and breakfast in Deauville. I finally struck gold with my car rental skills. Not only did I get the actual car I reserved, a sweet ass brand new Volvo, but it was white which they never have (so sick of driving silver and beige cars!) If we ever buy a car in Paris, I am seriously considering a Volvo. I mean, if I can’t find a vintage Fiat Pop 500 with an automatic transmission or my dream car this light blue beauty. I guess Liv would have to sit on the hood.
It was a quick two hour drive west so we stopped in the village of Buorneville which is in the Normandy region. We needed to stretch our legs and I had to take a pic in front of this adorable Mairie. Little did we know that we stopped right in the middle of an insect horde and we were covered with hundreds of tiny black bugs. It was awful. Liv noticed them first and next thing we knew they were all over us. I have many things I cannot tolerate and bugs is high on the list. They were in my braids, all over the rental car, in our clothes. I was miserable during the rest of the drive. I planned to take photos of the picturesque village of Pont-Audemer but we just drove through without stopping. We felt like there should be warning signs saying watch out for tiny almost microscopic bugs that don’t bite but crawl all over you! Has that ever happened to anyone else? I still itch just thinking about it.
When we arrived in Deauville at our hotel Villa L’Augeval thirty minutes later we immediately jumped into the shower and changed.
Our room was quaint. Aimee, Liv and Lulu had their own tiny room to share.
The view from our window was more impressive than the room. This lovely church bells chimed every hour. Liv was stoked because our hotel had a pool.
We headed to a restaurant in Trouville-Sur-Mer for dinner which was highly recommended by our French friends.
Trouville-sur-mer is a 15 minute drive from Deauville and it’s so cute. Most of the houses have a Art-Deco Victorian style. We drove around picking which mansion would be our future beachside vacation house.
I am no fan of onions, as many of you may already know, however I have always been enticed by the smell of French onion soup in the past. I saw it on the menu and decided that I would be brave and give it a try. Aimee was excited to order seafood and oysters. Antz got a steak and Liv ordered something simple from the kids menu. Lulu just ate bread.
Well my dears, the onion soup was a big disappointment! I was excited to see the raclette of cheese covering the top and it smelled yummy but beneath the bland cheese was a bowl of warm water and big, almost raw onions. I was hoping for the creamy broth of soft onions I have seen at restaurants in LA but this was Normandy style which seems to translate to no seasoning. The plate of shrimp I ordered were served cold to my dismay and Aimee didn’t enjoy her food either. Yet another expensive meal we wish we just went to McDonalds. I swear I am trying my best to open my palette to French cuisine but no luck so far!
Liv got an ice cream cone for dessert. Antz took these lovely photos by the Trouville harbor, I love my new Modcloth dress which was giving me 1950s vibes and it has POCKETS!!
We dropped Aimee off at the hotel so she could take a nap and sleep off her horrible dinner and we drove to the beach to catch the sunset.
The Deauville American Film Festival has taken place since 1975. The Promenade des Planches was built in 1923 and now has the names of popular American actors and directors. I was surprised by some of the names we saw but happy to find my imaginary lover Jeffrey Goldblum. Olivia only knew Jessica Tandy from her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.
The next day happened to be July 14th which is Bastille day in France! We began the day with a refreshing swim at our hotel.
She still loves to bellyflop!
We checked out of our room and headed to the beach for breakfast. But first, Liv challenged us to a game of table tennis. I beat them both!
I found the OG actors on the planches further down the boardwalk. Liz Taylor, Bette Davis and my girl Grace Kelly.
After promising Liv we would return so she could spend a day playing in the sand. We headed to Honfleur to spend the rest of the day before driving back into Paris.
Somehow there is an unspoken rule that when we see a Ferris Wheel, Liv must ride it, no questions.
It appears carousels follow this same rule as well.
Being weird with my best friend 21 years later.
The Honfleur harbor is giving me Copenhagen vibes.
Aimee was super stoked to finally get a delicious bowl of mussels! I don’t know how she eats them.
We listened to a French band play while we dined. There was a World Cup games playing so the entire town was distracted. I drove through Versailles to see if we could watch the Bastille day fireworks on our way back to the city but it was so crowded we couldn’t find parking and we were tired, so we zapped a few Invaders (how cool is this beheaded Louis the XVI?) and like the old, lame folks we are, we went home to bed.
Bonjournee!
