Limbus Company Sinners as Fallen London Companions
Smashing my two hyperfixations together like dolls and making them kiss. What I'm seeking (lol) to do here is not to conflate the Sinners to existing Companions, but rather create Companions based off of them instead. If you know both things then this won't take any explaining.
For people who know Limbus Company but not Fallen London: Fallen London is a browser game made by Failbetter Studios. It is an alternate history of an 1800s London that has sunk deep below the earth into a subterranean cavern known as the Neath and is now overseen by the mysterious Masters of the Bazaar. You begin the game as a Surface-dweller who has recently descended into the Neath for certain reasons, which you are able to decide for yourself and act upon as you progress through the game. Companions are "equipment" of sorts that you can equip to increase (or lower) your character's stats. A full write-up of FL's mechanics could be another three separate posts on its own, so I recommend the wiki's Beginner's Guide and other resources therein to understand the mechanics I'll detail here. If you enjoy the writing in LCB you will most likely also love FL's writing. Please play it, it is awesome. (And lmk if you do, I'll add you as a friend and definitely not stab you in the back)
For people who know Fallen London but not Limbus Company: Limbus Company is a mobile game made by Project Moon. It is the third in a series of games, preceded by Lobotomy Corporation and Library of Ruina, which are both available for purchase on Steam, though Limbus Company can be played independently of these if you want; the player avatar is an amnesiac so things are generally explained as needed (though Lobcorp and LoR are also very good and I recommend them, but you do have to buy those, so). The game centers around a department of the titular Limbus Company, the Limbus Company Bus Team (often shortened to LCB), the twelve individuals referred to as Sinners who make up the team, and their amnesiac Manager named Dante as they brave the ruins of the old branches of Lobotomy Corporation to retrieve strange objects known as Golden Boughs. All of the major characters in LCB are based off of classic literature (for example, Dante is based off of Dante's Inferno). If you like FL's writing you may enjoy LCB, but it is a gacha game which turns a lot of people off. For character info you can visit the Fandom wiki (yeah I know, it's a Fandom wiki), and if you want to read the story so far without playing the game you can check out this github page which contains all of the story text.
And if you don't know either...I don't know why you're reading this, but I hope my explanations and provided resources are enough to help you understand it regardless.
Okay, wall of text out of the way, let's get into the actual point of the post. This isn't meant to be balanced or anything this is just for fun because I'm diseased. Also LIMBUS SPOILERS THRU CANTO VI sorry.
Starting off with Sinner #1, Yi Sang:
Mirror-Marred Litterateur In the Mirror's glass, he observed endless possibilities. One such possibility observed him back. Watchful +4, Glasswork +2, Bizarre +1
Reasoning: Honestly? I thought about Sang Yi chilling in Parabola and that colored my whole concept here. But for real the whole Mirror thing is too perfect. Yi Sang defines Glasswork.
Sinner #2, Faust
Hell-Touched Engineer She hasn't the eyes of a devil, but builds infernal machinery previously unseen outside of Hell. Claims to know all outcomes, but shares precious little. Dreaded +2, Artisan of the Red Science +2, Decreases Nightmare build up
Reasoning: Something something Faust something something Mephistopheles something something her base EGO heals SP.
Sinner #3, Don Quixote
Dreaming Knight The only weapon stronger than a dream is delusion. Dangerous +5, Mithridacy +2, Increases Scandal build up
Reasoning: DQ is so skilled in Mithridacy she's got herself convinced of untruths, man. She's also allowed little a Scandal. As a treat.
Sinner #4, Ryoshu
Bohemian Blademaster Her masterwork blade is her brush; her enemies, her canvas. Legend has it that even the Boatman respects her work. Dangerous +4, Dreaded +2, Monstrous Anatomy +1
Reasoning: I feel like this one's pretty self-explanatory. I added a point of MA since I feel like she'd want to be a bit knowledgeable in monster anatomy for Art Reasons
Sinner #5, Meursault
Chained Stranger "The Neath is a prison," he says matter-of-factly, "And I am here because I am meant to be." Despite this, one could swear they saw the sun reflecting off his eyes. Persuasive +2, Respectable +3, Reduces Scandal build up
Reasoning: Hehe did you see what I did there. I referenced the thing. Anyway aside from being pretty blunt, he's probably the best candidate out of the whole group for Respectable.
Sinner #6, Hong Lu
Bright-Eyed Debonair New to the Neath, from an affluent Surface family. The Neath's many delights confuse and excite him. Persuasive +2, Shadowy +1, Kataleptic Toxicology +1
Reasoning: I think Hong Lu being new to the Neath fits with him being sheltered in canon. Also +1 KA cuz you know that boy is hittin that Honey. The Honey-Dens of Veilgarden already know him by name.
Sinner #7, Heathcliff
Bereaved Ruffian He knows the backstreets of London like the scars on his hands. He remembers that which the world does not, and waits. Dangerous +8, Shadowy -3, Chthonosophy +1
Reasoning: Oops Canto VI colored the fuck out of this one oops oops oops. Happy Firmament Day btw have some Chthonosophy. :)
Sinner #8, Ishmael
Zeefaring Pathfinder She's hunted the most feared creatures known to the Zee, losing her way to chart a path for her mad captain. Her compass will see that she never loses sight of her path again. Zeefaring +2, Monstrous Anatomy +3, Increases Nightmares build up
Reasoning: Ishy-Fishy you were made to embody Zeefaring and MA.
Sinner #9, Rodion
Lacre-Drowned Cardshark Born in a run-down corner of London where the Lacre falls thickest at Sacksmas, she knows a thing or two about cards. She wouldn't mind teaching you...for a price. Persuasive +4, Watchful +6
Reasoning: Heart's Desire vibes. That's it.
Sinner #10, Dante
Timepiece Manager An infernal timepiece ticks away where a head should be. They have no memories of their own, but they can never forget again. Chthonosophy +2, Steward of the Discordance +1, Dangerous -5, Reduces Wounds build up
Reasoning: Congratulations Dante on being the only bitch to not have the Discordance because the Discordance isn't real. Ummm I went off vibes here but tbh I think Dante should decrease your Dangerous by way more actually. Hell, let's make then decrease Dreaded too. Let's make them a Weasel of Woe.
Sinner #11, Sinclair
Unrealized Prodigy Young and anxious, jumping at every shadow. His potential is very promising. Dangerous +6, Dreaded +1, Increases Wounds build up
Reasoning: Sinclair may be baby. But he is Scary Baby.
Sinner #12, Outis
Commanding Oneironaut She's led the forces of Parabola to victory more times than you could count. Don't ask her any questions. Dangerous +8, A Player of Chess +2, Glasswork +1
Reasoning: Everybody shut the fuck up Parabolan War General Outis is everything to me, you hear me. EVERYTHING. She favors the Chessboard, obviously, with that +2 to APoC.
Sinner #13, Gregor
Metamorphic Veteran A large insectoid pincer sits where a right arm should be. He'll talk about pretty much anything but the details around that. Seriously, be careful around that thing. Dangerous +5, Shapeling Arts +3, Bizarre +2
Reasoning: You had to know Gregor would be the only bitch to get Shapeling Arts. Look me in the eyes and tell me he wouldn't. I wanted to give him Persuasive due to his amicability but also he actually. Sucks at being persuasive like canonically, so. Dangerous it is.
BONUS! Vergilius
The Red Gaze The most feared Fixer in the Neath. Whatever could you have done to strike up an alliance with him? Watchful +30, Shadowy +30, Dangerous +30, Persuasive +30, Greatly reduces Nightmare build up
Reasoning: He's the Red Goat I ain't gotta explain shit.
anyway hope you enjoyed even though you definitely didn't. i have a headache now so i'm gonna go consume painkillers and caffeine and go run mirror dungeons in lcb for that limbus battle pass.

have you seen the squirrel and hedgehog dub brave soldiers (either the English or Spanish version) and if so, what are your thoughts on it?
Sigh, yes, and I only saw english dub/localisation, I don't know spanish so I didn't watch it, but if it's the same experience as english then I don't lose anything by not checking it out.
Honestly, I learned about SaH and Brave soldiers through Lost Media Wiki first, then I got additional information from Saberspark video and Sienduk. When SaH was still lacking subtitles on most episodes, I watched BS first in full.
My thoughts leaning towards negative. From what I can remember, and it is really tough thing to do, plot is a mess. Somehow, simple premise of "Oh no! We got invaded by weasels! We need to protect our village from them and be prepared for further attacks!" become hard to follow when characters just "appear" and "disappear" constantly. Juldarami, I think, is presented as three different squirrels (correct me if I'm wrong). And it's not unique problem to him, there's multiple instances of this and I don't get why people responsible for localisation chose to do that.
I can understand that they need to tone down some aspects of the original, most obvious, the violence (mice on spikes comes to mind first) and it's fine to remove graphic scenes. Same goes on message on self sacrifice, it's part of NK propaganda, I get it, not really good idea to force it on children audience. But everything else? Like, somebody thought, it will be good idea to make Geumsaegi and Juldarami brothers? It might be the case of misinterpretation of their relationship, but they also changed Mulmangcho and Oegwipali from brothers to... Acquaintances? Colleagues? "Friends"??? Huh????
Also, the Music..
The endlessly repeating opening theme. Enough said, OST just sucks.
On positives, some moments are pretty funny, but they are more of unintentional variety, Mike Pollock as Uncle Bear is great, Mulmangcho is renamed to Spitz (idk why I find it so funny, it's generic as hell, but weirdly charming? esp when others have relatively normal sounding names, and there's mouse named Spitz lol). And I think that it with positives I found.
SaH isn't perfect, it has flaws and there could be many different things done if writers could have more creative freedom, but BS in comparison is barely watchable trainwreck, it makes me appreciate original series more. Tbh, it's only interesting because it exists in the first place.
#ask#Sorry if I got some details wrong#But I don't want to watch BS again#I wish I could forget the opening theme..

So in my current fort things have been going suspiciously well. I'm still quite slow at this game, and I'm stubbornly trying to learn as much as I can on my own- refusing to consult the wiki unless I'm absolutely certain I don't know what to do. This is mostly because I learn better when I figure things out on my own, otherwise I feel I become I little too reliant on the wikis to play the game.
However I've encountered my first conflict!
I'll keep the rest under a read more link because I'm well aware that this post is already getting lengthy. Anyways... GOBLIN SNATCHERS!
There were two of them, and they had come for my precious children! I began checking all of their locations, and of course all but two were safely indoors. One of those two being one of my FAVORITES, who I named Nish Notflinching. However I had no idea how I was going to coerce the children inside fast enough, and to top it off I also discovered a breach in my defenses in the form of a missing door! Another problem, I realized I hadn't set up a military squad yet! I was still in the process of engraving the walls to their training area... I quickly scrambled one together and hoped it would be enough with no training, luckily I had some dwarves who had fighting spirit- despite being a little rusty. One goblin managed to grab Nish and I was afraid he would get away with her, but luckily my squad managed to catch up to him, and honestly... He wasn't very strong. He was swiftly dealt with. Lots of dwarves and even a few dogs got in on the fight! My favorite moment is when one of the dogs latched onto the goblin's head and so he began trying to smack the dog with his bag repeatedly to get it off
With that, despite being shamefully unprepared, no dwarven children (especially not Nish Notflinching) were taken away by the goblins. Fortunately neither of them were particularly strong or brave. Now I have a hastily put together squad as well, which will grow stronger with training! I fear what challenges will come my way next. I'm aware that waiting for entropy to take your beloved dwarves is simply a part of the game, but I admit I've grown quite fond of them all, and I'll be sad when they each inevitably die.

God researching Overwatch lore is such a beautiful mess. I try making a simple few notes for a future full timeline of events, and end up discovering a character. So, random 4 AM impulse, I try jotting down all the events between Recall and Zero Hour, with how each of the heroes we see there gets Winston's message and what they do to respond. Tracer gets the call instantly like we see in the same short, Genji gets the recall offscreen and goes off to help after he fights Hanzo in Dragons, Reinhardt is contemplating the call in Honor and Glory before visiting Balderich's grave convinces him (and Brigitte tags along), Mei gets the call after waking up and getting a functional signal in Rise and Shine, and Echo goes to help after being woken up by McCass in Reunion. So that accounts for everyone in Zero Hour, right? Winston, Tracer, Genji, Reinhardt, Brigitte, Echo... ...wait. nope. Mercy. So I checked Mercy's short story, Valkyrie, because that'd answer it, right? Well, yes, but also I got distracted since I haven't read that story yet. Short answer there is that it's vague, but after the events of the story, Angela gets convinced by Jack and Ana to not give up being Mercy. It's not a direct segue like the others, but all three are aware of Winston's recall one way or another, and while Jack and Ana are more focused on hunting down Reyes (who yes, does show up in the story and explain what those two old bastards are up to), Mercy decides to do. Not that. Which would by default be, as we now know, going to Paris to help out in Zero Hour.
But obviously my undiagnosed funny brain self wasn't content with that, because I noticed a name in a weird spot I didn't quite piece together at first.
Adawe. Adawe... Who's Adawe? Obviously not Akande or one of the other Doomfists, but it sounded familiar.
So I checked the wiki (I braved a Fandom Wiki for this, be grateful) and it turns out yes, it does sound familiar.
Adawe, as in the Adawe foundation, a name I recognize as how Efi got the grant money to make Orisa.
But OOOHHH THAT NAME MEANS SO MUCH MORE AND I NEVER KNEW IT, and I doubt many people do.
This lady made Overwatch. And Numbani.
I. I. wh. how am I just now hearing about this.
Paraphrasing the wiki article, Adawe was the Under-Secretary-General for the United Nations during Omnicrisis, and was one of the main people responsible for making Overwatch happen.
And while Overwatch was helping to mend human-omnic relations after the Crisis, she also made her own effort to that cause by founding Numbani, the city where they live in harmony more than anywhere else.
but that's not the craziest part.
This character has no visual appearance as of now, and I assume most people haven't even heard of her.
but you know one thing I can guarantee everyone reading this has heard?
Her voice.
Recordings of her voice were sampled by Efi for Orisa's voice.
I. Dghafoak. aifnoa. OKAY THEN GOOD TO KNOW???
Anyways it's 5 AM now and I regret nothing. Not right now at least. Possibly in the morning. Probably not.
(Edit, yes still 5 AM:) Canonically, the only hero who's met Orisa at this point is Lucio, so like... none of the people who knew Adawe have had the chance to recognize her voice in Orisa yet. So that'll be interesting... if they address it at all, anyways.

we need more of that good old 00s insanity back in fandom because there’s not enough fic about mayuri hooking reader up to a sex machine For Science
As the 00s were my shiny introductory years to fandom and Bleach in particular, I absolutely agree.
RIP to the brave soldiers who got their accounts torn down on Quizilla for daring to give the Mayuri filth we deserved. You are lost but not forgotten.
When he feels empowered (ie, make-up on, clothed how he prefers, and bathed in an aura of never having a romantic inclination in his life), he is all too happy to be a sexual freak. I think you could take one of these variables away and he would still feel comfortable enough.
It's about the control. The messy, on-the-fly deductions. The portrayed detachment. Even when he displays enjoyment, it's not because of you. It's because of the act. The machinery. The way he can guess how this or that will make you feel and be completely correct. You could be anyone--that part's important. But you’re a squirming body, which is important too.
Here are some disjointed thoughts/headcanons that are not family friendly and get dark:
I think he would enjoy machinery that displays the unique abilities shinigami have and can utilize to get off. He relishes in any sense of superiority he can grasp on to, after all.
They can use kido for temperature play, restriction, and sensory deprivation without the need for physical props. Spiritual pressure could also be used as a form of restriction, breath play, ect. (On that note, the wiki says there are fucking VENTS on shinigami’s wrists for their spiritual pressure. Built in clit stimulators isn’t fair but whatever.) And SP can be built into shapes so like, we mere mortals can’t compete. Yes you have to be advanced to do that but with great power comes great orgasms without needing toys, apparently.
Machinery wise, I think he would play with these abilities. Not strong enough to shape your own spiritual pressure? That’s fine! He has a machine that molds your released pressure into a numbered set of shapes. You can literally fuck yourself. And it’ll look pretty too since he has color changing settings. If your pressure is purple, well now it’s a pulsing rainbow! Like LED lights but organic.
Or a machine that absorbs a Kido and disperses it in a more controlled way over time. With adjustments that can be made for intensity and location.
I also think he would be a big fan of machinery that blurs the line of you and the equipment. He loves synthetic organics. He loves repurposing organic material until it’s a farce of life. He’ll have you hooked up until YOU can’t remember where you begin and the machine ends.
I think this would also apply to machinery where he could feel apart of it as well. Interconnected to his creation and you in a mesh of intimacy that looks unnatural but feels organic.
The scientific papers this man is putting out on innovation in shinigami power specific sexual exploration & the machines schematics he’s patenting and selling are absolutely helping bank roll the R&D.
Some noble requests a custom machine and your ass is being used to quality check the entire process. For Science of course.
Also, 100% he would have a machine helmed by a mod-Soul. Yes it’s unethical. Yes it’s sexy & appropriately mad scientist compliant.
On that thought I ABSOLUTELY think he would keep a copy of you (think ala Soma) tucked in a mod-soul capsule that he can put in a gigai or whatever he wants at will. I think he would be a huge fan of having you in a way that no one, not even you, are aware of. He can’t be vulnerable with the you that exists freely in the world. But he can with the you who only exists when and where he wills it. This makes the concept of a mod-soul controlled machine even sexier. You are the machine. And he’s under your control. Even while you’re fully under his.
Literally Mayuri and sex machines are such gold.
#I would let him put me in a pill#I mean if it’s ala Soma I wouldn’t even know but I would still let him y’know#You are so smart and right and this needed to be said

If anyone knowing Japanese well enough for this could tell me :
1 - if 珊瑚 can be a term also used for a color (I know the English equivalent is) or if it's too confusing without the 色 ?
2 - Same question for 琥珀 . Can it be a color without 色 ?
3 - シロ use katakanas and しろ use hiraganas but they both mean white, right ?
4 - So Murasaki can be a surname written like this : 村崎 but also a first name and the color purple when written like this : 紫
Now, the (English, I'm not that brave) wiki for Murasaki from Natsume's book of friends use the former characters at the start of the page and the latter at the bottom, which isn't of much help. I tried both forms associated with the Japanese name of the anime (not sure if it's also a manga ?) but I got the right images for both.
Well, that would be very kind of you and fantastic.
Help, please ?
--
To submitters in general : please, give me the written form (especially when it's not written using the Roman alphabet) of the character's name in the original media. The only time it's not necessary is when the character as an English name that would justify its inclusion here, no matter how the original name looks -and I still would want a translation-
I'm not better at researching stuff than you are, I just happen to do it for hundreds of characters, which takes me considerably longer. I've spent my afternoon checking names' meanings and I'm only at the letter "O" (of the materials)
Also please indicate the language. Just because you know it doesn't mean that I do
What I'm doing is very interesting, but it's also taxing.

I’ve finished the major world quest of the 3.6 new area and, despite my own intentions, am about 80% through the exploration, so I guess I’ll quickly give my thoughts.
For the world quest, I set it to auto and didn’t read much of anything, though I’ll try to check out the summary on the wiki later (it’s not done yet). It was long! Not sure if longer than Aranara, but definitely long. And given that this is yet another race of squishy floating things, I really just... I do not care. That’s too many small creatures that we’ll never see again because they’re tied to a specific area. It’s not even NPC land anymore, we’re not even dealing with humans now. I’m tired of it all.
Regarding the lore, it seems to be just another round of “things got real fucked up 500 years ago and these brave souls died to stop it, btw your brother was here.” A mention of Dain too, but doesn’t seem to be anything actually new in all this.
I also did all the other local world quests except the time gated one with the Fontaine artist and the one for dealing with the tree circle gates or whatever.
Regarding the gadget, I hate it. It’s really annoying to have to switch to it and back all the time, since that always gets you a loading screen, and some of the mechanics require you to alternate between doing a thing as Sorush and doing a thing as Traveler. Almost as annoying is when you only switch in to press her skill once and then switch back out, which really feels like... why is there not an option to just have her use her skill while she’s following you?
But worse is the three axis movement. Going up is okay. But going down? It’s tied to left Ctrl key, and it is extremely unnatural. I also keep pressing Z instead which... exits the gadget mode.............. Awful design.
Speaking of the new mechanics, there are waaaaay too many. They’re all crammed into this one area, and it’s not like they’re complex, but it’s silly to have all these different tutorials just for mechanics that are going to get discarded in no time. Half the time, I don’t even engage with them. Yeah, Sorush can move that zipline, but you know, I can also just climb the cliff with less hassle.
It’s all just really intrusive, imo, and Sorush’s animations seem to be bigger and more distracting than previous pets too.
In regard to the actual area itself, it’s kind of a mixed bag.
Part of it is More Desert, there’s also More Caves, which are not good things. Part of it is a rather pretty forest, and there’s also the industrial areas from Khaenri’ah underground as well. I guess my overall feeling is that it’s simultaneously too similar to the rest of Sumeru but they also went too hard on the small details in an attempt to set it apart. It really just feels like a rehash of Aranyaka in a lot of ways, which isn’t great.
I didn’t necessarily feel the exploration itself was bad, but the up-down of the cliffs, combined with their difficult to climb shape, makes it not really enjoyable to traverse casually.
It’s actually somewhat reminiscent of Watatsumi. The way some of the puzzles will lead you around areas is similar from what I remember as well. A youtuber mentioned just after the version update that it seems like Genshin has several teams working on creating new areas, and the teams have individual quirks in how they design the maps, so I wonder if maybe the same people worked on this and Watatsumi. It’s just my speculation though.
But it looks like I’ll be able to wrap this place up before the flagship event starts, come back for the exploration event somewhere later in the patch, and then never return again. Just gotta make sure to get all the Kaveh flowers while I’m here lol

ABOUT.
Bonnie's main wiki can be found here!
In 2019, when The Vampire Diaries ends - Bonnie bids her friends a farewell and decides to go to Paris, a vacation she was supposed to take with Enzo but never got the chance.
Bonnie loved Paris just as much as Enzo said she would, and decided that she would live there for awhile. It was getting costly staying in a hotel room, so she bought a cute little house.
She never cut off contact with her friends, while she knew she had to leave the small town and the memories behind - she wasn't ready to leave her friends behind. Bonnie would call them occasionally and see what they were up to these days. She would send Josie, Lizzie and Stefanie presents from Paris, mostly for their birthday but very often just because.
While she lived in Paris, she would travel to other parts of the world too.
Bonnie met a handful of people during her travels - somehow becoming a magnet for witches. She was hesitant with them, not having the best of luck with other witches. But soon they were all friends.
Though Bonnie knew she was powerful, she never stopped going as far as she could with magic, learning new things and the like.
In 2030, Bonnie got word of Alaric's death and didn't hesitate to book a first class ticket back to Mystic Falls to be there for her friends and Lizzie. With Josie still in Belgium, Bonnie would call her to check in on her.
Bonnie then decided to stay in Mystic Falls and became the Advanced Magic Studies teacher at the boarding school.
Bonnie would date around very casually, have hookups here and there but she never started anything serious because hi, she has shit luck.
She watched as people came back from the dead, always keeping an eye out for her loved ones.
In 2041 she met someone, they started out as a casual hookup then a few months later became exclusive.
Things were good for a year until they weren't. He started pulling away, and the fights would commence. Bonnie was just exhausted always having to fight for someone she cared for, so if it was going to be a fight she didn't want to fight anymore. The two broke up.
Unknown to Bonnie, he had pulled away and started fighting with her because he comes from a dark coven of witches who found out he was with her. They were trying to force him to steal her power, and he refused. So he fought with her, to get her to break up with him, to keep her safe. Something Bonnie will hate with every inch of her being.
In January of 2043, the two got back together. In April, Bonnie found out she was pregnant. In August, the two were sleeping soundly when the sound of shattering glass woke them up.
Bonnie, four months pregnant at this point was on extra alert. A small portion of her boyfriends coven had broken into her house, and a fight erupted. Bonnie was beaten up a decent amount, her boyfriend took a killing blow in her place and the witches turned their attention to Bonnie to kill her. Bonnie, gathering up all of her power, killed them before they could her.
Bonnie was not okay after this. She refused to go to the hospital, and instead - in her bloody gown, went to the Salvatore Boarding School (being careful to avoid the students) and got aide from one of the nurses there. Her injuries required more than a nurse, and she needed to go check up on the baby, but they worked with what they had and all was fine with her baby.
She couldn't go back into her house, not when the smell of blood was too strong, and the pictures were shattered and every good memory she had in that house shattered along with it. She considered burning it to the ground, but decided to not and just moved into another house.
She got a bit closed off after the attack, but remained working and helping where she could.
Bonnie went into labor with Sheila on Christmas Eve, and Sheila was born on Christmas Day as midnight struck.
Bonnie has raised Sheila as a single mother (with the help of her friends every now and then).
She dived into work, raising Sheila and when she was okay enough she would go on a few dates here and there. She would never let them meet Sheila until it was serious enough though, and that in itself was rare.
After killing the small portion of the coven, Bonnie gained a target on her back from the rest of the coven who were seeking revenge for their fallen witches. Bonnie wasn't afraid though, in fact, she anticipated the day they would put their money where their mouth is and if they showed up, Bonnie would finish the job, ridding the world of a dark coven of witches.

Oh no. My trap card has activated. Like Aqua, I'll try and keep this short out of respect for one's dash and limit it some of my fave words & sayings to use in my writing. But you should check out the wiki - most the words I've added there have the 'recipe' I used to come up with them (it really needs updating tho, my apologies. Maybe this'll be my kick up the arse to do so).
Tor(e)guard(e) - Just to add a little funny story to this, because Aqua's Hubs gives me so much shit for this everytime it comes up. When we first started playing, he never told me the spelling, so I wrote it as "Toreguarde" (don't ask me where I got the extra e's from - I'm dyslexic and that's the excuse I'm sticking to). Ages later - like, a literal decade - he told me I was spelling it wrong, and there were no extra e's, but by that point I'd been typing it 'wrong' for so long that muscle memory still kicks in. Even so, I tried to remove the e's but they keep sticking, so we've compromised. The town is officially spelt Toreguard, Elowyn's surname is Toreguarde, and Alexis Dalliance spells it Torguard. Personally I quite like this little discrepancy, it feels very natural.
Related - IIRC, this was the surname of the man who founded the town.
Seldarine on-poldora a'amin - Elvish, "Gods give me strength". Once upon a time, I found an amazing website dictionary of random elvish words. I don't know if they' were're from a game, someone else's conlang, but I adopted quite a lot from there, including piecing together this phrase.
Rath - Short form of the Elvish "rathla", which means "blood brothers". Used commonly between members of Toreguard City Watch. So, one thing I've tried to do in the stories featuring Elo is bring that feeling of a cosmopolitan melting-pot, and a good way to show that is the conglomeration of languages. Anyone who's been in the city for a while will pick up words, alter and merge them, so it felt natural to take this wonderful word (again from the above mentioned dictionary) and mangle it a little.
Kudoljya - Dwarvish, "Brave idiot halfling (affectionate)". From the Kernow word "kolodnek" which means "Brave/fearless", and "Jargh" meaning "Trickster/idiot/halfling", taken from a 3rd Ed D&D Dwarvish dictionary I found.
Twiceling & Thriceling - Used by the shorter races (eg Halflings) to refer to the taller ones (eg Humans and Ogres). It's a backhanded riff on the idea that 'halfling' are so named because they're half-height of a human. Thus a twiceling is twice the height of a woodling, and thriceling is three times that. Mostly used derogatorily.
I hope you've enjoyed some more words and phrases from our version of the setting!
I would love just like, a little thesaurus of words/places/names from your work and their meanings and stuff. I don't know how else to explain it, like where you came up with the names and for words that are for your story, how you named things. Does...does this make any sense?
Hi Sparrow, this is such an interesting ask. I do get what you're going for with it and I'll be happy to answer for the stuff that isn't canon to the Titan Fighting Fantasy franchise or D&D, though I will point out where words or phrases are literally just direct translations of Scottish Gaelic. I will also point out where I wasn't the creator of the name or phrase, because I'm not going to do Dru or my husband dirty like that. Speaking of, tagging in @druidx because she might have more nuanced answers to give for some of these.
Places
Ok so let's start with the easier list of the lot shall we?
Toreguard(e): This one was created by my husband as the starting town for all of the D&D campaign adventures that I write about. I've asked my husband if it has an actual literal meaning and he's told me that it doesn't, but it was inspired by Norse words from the viking times. As an aside, 'Tor' does have a meaning, which is literally just 'hill'. So the name can probably be roughly translated to 'Hill Guardian' or something of the sort.
Kar'ak Ungor: The original name of the mountain of Wyrmholme (which is in itself relatively self-explanatory, i.e. wyrm/dragon home). This was taken from the Warhammer Fantasy dwarven language of Khazalid. 'Kar' literally just means 'big stone', which is what a mountain is. The signifier -ak is technically not the correct use of the language as it's used for concepts and not places, but it rolls off the tongue better than Kar'az to me. Besides, this is a different world, so I can do what I like :P . As for Ungor, that was taken from Khazalid as well. It directly translates as 'cavern', but I use it to also mean 'red' in Titan. So the direct translation of the name is 'Red/Cavernous Mountain'
Kar Kherril: The name of this dwarven hold was inspired by Khazalid, but not taken directly from it. It's also a shortened form of the full name since a lot of people can't pronounce the full one, which I've decided is probably Kar'ak Kherrilimir, which would translate directly as 'Mountain of Kherillim's Children'. As an aside; Kherillim is the Titan Fighting Fantasy canon dwarven name for Throff, so I tend to use both names dependent on the context.
Phrases and Words
cridhe-dàime: This was taken directly from Scottish Gaelic and it technically actually translates to 'heart-dame' but I use the second half as 'kin' since I typically use it in the context of Meredith and Elowyn quite specifically, and it rolls off the tongue better than 'piuthar', which is the Scottish Gaelic word for sister. The masculine equivalent would be cridhe-bràthair.
Moradhir: Ok, so part of this one is taken from Moradin (which is the D&D god of the dwarves), but I added the suffix '-hir' in to denote the people who worship Moradin. I'm not sure where I might have got that from, in all honesty. I think I was just trying out different sounds until I got one that sounded 'right'.
I'll link to the Language page of the Wiki for the various words and phrases Dru came up with, as quite as few of them are to do with swearing, and some of the translations are a bit too much for Tumblr directly. That and, if I put them all here, that would make the post 'colour of the sky' long, which no one wants in text form.
Most of the rest of these are basically taken directly from Scottish Gaelic, or Scots but I sprinkle them around my writing.
Hen: This is a Scots word that I use all the time irl. I think it's equivalent to 'hun', which is short for 'honey', which is used as a pet name of sorts in some English-speaking countries. This Scots version, though, is generally used as a sort of pet name for female friends and is pretty universally used as a term of endearment (at least, in my experience).
Ken: Old English and still a modern Scots word for 'know'
Mo Ghoal: Scottish Gaelic for 'my love'
Fear Goalach: Scottish Gaelic for 'beloved man'
Bairn/Wean: Scots words for small children
Those are the main ones I can think of off the top of my head. If you have questions about any others you've come across and you want clarification, let me know.
#meta writing#fighting fantasy#titan fighting fantasy#others writing#meta wandering words#I have a very bad habit of worldbuilding on the fly which means that a lot of detail which should go in the wiki gets lost in my stories#Maybe when I've finished with Her Countenance was Light I'll run through and ensure that the wiki is updated

barring the no mercy route being an influence in this case, how would you describe chara's personality? I cannot describe them well at all despite them being my favorite character. they're too complex lol. all of the meta i can find at this time as them described at both extremes of innocent & evil but i don't think that's accurate
TW: discussions of canon dark topics such as abuse , death and suicide
i love talking about chara, i've talked about them at length before lmao. thank u for giving me a chance to talk about my beloved child.
you can actually read a character exploration i'm doing in a mini-arc for Askfallenroyalty. actually, if you want one condensed post, this comic sums up chara's motives
My interpretation:
chara is an abused kid and suicidal kid*(1) who ran to mount ebott to die.*(2) upon learning that monsters are made of love and humans aren't*(3), chara began to hate humanity. the deltarune prophecy*(4) makes them to be The Angel despite being a human. Feeling undeserving of this title and obligated to fulfill it, Chara wanted to be a good kid more than anything.
But then the buttercup pie incident happened. They've accidentally*(5) poisoned asgore and came up with a plan to ensure the prophecy could be fulfilled and take a hit against humanity. Two birds with one stone -who cares if it's also a personal win too? then obviously the plan goes up in flames and they and asriel are murdered. then asgore wants to kill of all humanity.
your influence*(6) gets Chara onto a path of redemption or a path of destruction, mirroring the deltarune prophecy's two main interpretations.*(7)
in summery: chara is a scared kid trying to fit into a world that demands violence by the past actions of the previous generations. The war massacred monsters and locked them up with a kill-solution -ensuring that further violence would be needed to be free, thus continuing the cycle of violence.
chara is just a kid. they knit, they make macaroni art, they loved their family and had a best friend forever.* (8) but they're also vengeful, they cared so deeply for monsterkind they were ready to die and had no idea they'd be awake as a soul, they were prepared for death. they're complicated, you can't have one side without the other. while i’ve never wanted to murder anyone, i can still relate deeply to chara and see myself in them a lot. the tragedy of them -the fact they never really got a “happy ending” like everyone else just haunts me and it’s why I spend so much time making AFR. I just... love this character so much, i want this kid to be happy. (not that it could ever be easy to get there, happy endings aren’t free.)
And frankly, seeing this hurt kid get demonized just rubs me the wrong way, and it feels completely against the morals Undertale tries to tell with it’s story. I see it as a cautionary tale against violence and dehumanizing others for the sake of hate and violence. how kids can be influenced by the violence -or kindness around them. you don’t need to forgive the ones who hurt you, but killing them is not always the solution -though sometimes necessary as framed in the Undyne the Undying fight.
People get both Undertale’s themes and chara wrong the most, and for the game that’s meant the world to me it bothers me more than it should lol. It’s a Good Story, and I don’t mean to frame my interpretation of the character or themes as 100% canon and I know Mr.Fox’s brain to confirm it kinda deal, but with all the time I’ve spent analyzing and thinking it over I do think it’s not off in the general direction of it lol. And besides the author’s intent isn’t really the end-all-to-be-all. It’s what you get out of the story and the themes that matter and stick with you. No one can take that away from you.
Sources and evidence:
"* If you're cuter, monsters won't hit you as hard." -faded ribbion flavor text * "The ends of the tools have been filed down to make them safer." -gardening tools in New Home (and iirc Toriel's home as well, too lazy to double check rn) * Where are the knives. -no mercy chara (this and paired with the previous imply there are no sharp objects in reach of chara's home because chara can't be trusted with sharp objects out of self harm. This doesn't necessarily mean abuse but paired with them hating humanity so deeply, being suicidal and a child it paints a picture of abuse.
"* I know why (chara) climbed the mountain.* It wasn't for a very happy reason." -asriel post pacifist epilogue dialogue
"* Love, hope, compassion... * This is what people say monster SOULs are made of. * But the absolute nature of "SOUL" is unknown. * After all, humans have proven their SOULs don't need these things to exist." -Library book on monster souls)
* Legend has it, an 'angel' who has seen the surface will descend from above and bring us freedom. - gerson
"* It takes at least a human soul... * And a monster soul. * ...* If you want to go home... * You'll have to take his soul. * You'll have to kill ASGORE." -Alphys. Because boss monster souls are the exception and can persist after death for a short period of time, Chara could of killed any of the family members to escape the underground. this implies escaping wasn't the goal -it was to die (considering they already attempted suicide to fall underground the first time, this is explicitly suicide.) the plaque doesn't mention or speak like monster/human fusion's consumed soul would be aware. chara had no way of knowing they'd be awake. also the whole thing with the pie is a prank. cups of butter. -> buttercups. putting flowers in a pie is a joke to do, we see Chara is similar to Toriel (they mimic her speech in the no mercy monologue, they say “greetings” as she does like how Asriel says “howdy” like Flowey does. Chara makes puns and jokes in the flavor text all the time.
https://imgur.com/a/zP18P -dog food bag at different LV. "When the protagonist first encounters Mad Dummy, they are given the option to beat it up. Choosing to beat it up prompts one of three responses depending on the protagonist's LOVE." (source: undertale wiki)
If the protagonist’s LV is 1, the response becomes "(You tap the dummy with your fist.) (You feel bad.)"
If the protagonist's LV is between 2 and 4, the response becomes "(You hit the dummy lightly.) (You don't feel like you learned anything.)"
If the protagonist’s LV is between 5 and 7, the response becomes "(You sock the dummy.) (Who cares?)"
If the protagonist’s LV is 8 or higher, the response becomes "(You punch the dummy at full force.) (Feels good.)"" This implies Chara (who is the narrator) will feel different about the dog food -which references the classic phrase of "glass half empty/full" showing your out look in life. Then hitting the dummy show's Frisk's out look on violence depending on LV. Note that by the end of it, it's no longer "you feel..." but "feels good" This is Chara.
7. “* Lately, the people have been taking a bleaker outlook...* Callin' that winged circle the 'Angel of Death.' “ -gerson “* Only the fearless may proceed. * Brave ones, foolish ones. * Both walk not the middle road. “ -the first plaque in the first puzzle room with Toriel. The idea is to walk on both the left and right sides -you can’t go half way in the middle. this mirrors the “true” endings are only accomplished if you stick to no mercy or pacifist only.
8. literally their home in New Home is a treasure trove of pre-game chara characterization.

Hiii, do you have any recs for Robin Jason comics? I'd love to read more about him but I have no clue where to start. Love your art btw it's all adorable <3
Sure thing!!! And omg thank you 🥺🥺 your art is super cute too!!
If I were to rec One Thing as a starting point for Robin Jason, Batman #408-#429 covers Jason’s main run as Robin and his death arc and is the main essential reading I’d recommend. It’s fairly short and a good place to start imo!
Among others, it includes his post-crisis origin and first outing as Robin, his first meeting with Dick, the Garzonas incident, and his death and its immediate aftermath in the Death in the Family arc.
While Jason’s time as Robin in post crisis is fairly short and not as hard to get through as other characters with longer runs, i know Reading Comics Hard so I’ll make a shorter list first, with more recs under the cut!
Batman #408-#409 (Jason's origin)
Batman #410-#411 (his first outing as Robin)
Batman #413 (smart boy Jason)
Batman #415 (more good Jason moments)
Batman #416 (his and Dick's first meeting, also Dick and Bruce argue)
Batman Annual #12 (has a solo Jason story set at his school)
Detective Comics #569-#570 (Jason gets to kick the Joker's butt)
Detective Comics #571 (the Scarecrow kidnaps Jason)
Detective Comics #573 (this one’s just cute)
Superman Annual #11 (Bruce, Jason and Wonder Woman visit Superman on his birthday and stuff happens)
Blue Devil #19 (Jason is pen pals with Kid Devil)
Batman: the Cult (a 4-issue pretty dark miniseries where Bruce is kidnapped and brainwashed by a cult. Some great Jason moments)
Batman #424-#425 (The Garzonas storyline, or when Jason may or may not have pushed somebody off a building. Trigger warnings for sexual assault and suicide)
Batman #426-#429 (A Death in The Family, or Jason’s death arc)
I’ll be referencing this Jason reading list, since it’s what I followed when I started reading. It can be checked for a more comprehensive list of his appearances too, since I’m not aiming for a full list! (though I might edit it to include more stuff eventually.)
First things first, Jason got rebooted once during his time as Robin; he was originally a circus kid like Dick in pre-crisis (before the reboot), and later in post-crisis got his more well-known origin as the orphan who stole the tires off the batmobile. I’ll be focusing on post-crisis Robin Jason since I’m still reading his pre-crisis run, but the list I linked has more info on that if you’re interested!
Batman and Robin-focused
Stories centered on the Dynamic Duo!
Batman #408-#429 - Jason’s post-crisis run as Robin, as mentioned above! The last four issues are the Death in the Family arc. The Batman: Second Chances trade collects a good chunk of these (#408-#416), plus Batman Annual #11 and a couple stories from before Jason’s post-crisis origin.
Detective Comics #568-#582 - Jason’s Robin run in Detective Comics! It’s a fun read and Alan Davis’ art style is very cute imo. (Jason isn’t around from #575 to #578 due to getting hurt in #573)
Batman Annual #10-#12 - More Batman and Robin stories. #12 has a Jason solo story set at his school!
Batman: the Cult - a 4-issue miniseries where Bruce is kidnapped and brainwashed by a cult. A pretty dark story and one of the last ones from before his death. Jason has some great moments in it!
Dc Retroactive: Batman - The 80s - Story from 2011 written by Mike Barr, who wrote Jason’s 80s Robin stories in Detective Comics!
Robin 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spetacular - One of the stories, More Time, is about Jason and Bruce and goes between the past (with Jason as Robin) and the present (with Jason as Red Hood). Short and very sweet!
Crossovers/Teamups
In which Jason meets or teams up with other characters, with or without Batman!
Blue Devil #19 - Jason is pen pals with Eddie Bloomberg/Kid Devil and teams up with him!
Action Comics #556 + #594 - Jason meets Superman!
Superman Annual #11 - For The Man Who Has Everything, or where Jason goes with Bruce to Superman’s birthday, first meets Wonder Woman, and Stuff Happens. (Jason gets to be the hero!)
New Teen Titans V2 (1984) #18-#31 - Jason joins the Teen Titans for a while! It’s fun to see him in a team and his characterization here is really good imo. (this is the span of issues he appears in but he isn’t in all of them)
Legends (six-part miniseries) - A DC crossover event! Jason has short but great appearances (the time where he breaks his leg, but wants to get up and help anyway).
Nightwing Year One #101-#106 - A rewrite of Dick's Nightwing origin with occasional Jason appearances until #106, which is a retelling of their first meeting where they work together to rescue Alfred. While I have Issues with the characterization of Jason in this, it has some cute moments and I’d be remiss to not include the story that introduces Dick’s nickname of “Little Wing” for Jason.
After his Death
Stuff dealing with the aftermath of Jason’s death and the impact it left on others. (Some of the stuff here is just listed for a single page or panel rather than a full story about Jason)
Batman #430-#432 + #496 - Bruce in the aftermath of Jason’s death.
Batman Annual #13 - Jason appears in a flashback.
The New Titans #55 - Dick and the Titans find out about Jason’s death, and Dick confronts Bruce about it.
Batman: Year Three + A Lonely Place of Dying - While these focus on Dick and Tim respectively, they’re set after Jason’s death and show how Bruce is dealing with it. Year Three is in Batman #436-#439 and A Lonely Place of Dying (Tim’s origin story) is in Batman #440/New Titans #60/Batman #441/New Titans #61/Batman #442, also included in reprints of Death in the Family.
Detective Comics #618 - Has a nice little moment of Tim looking up to Jason.
Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #100 - The issue is mainly a Dick origin story, but in the end there’s a sweet and sad story about Jason’s beginning and ending as Robin.
Nightwing Secret Files and Origins - On the first story, Taking Wing, Jason appears to Dick as a dream/hallucination while the latter is having a near-death experience and accompanies him through various of Dick’s memories.
Joker: Last Laugh #6 - The one time when, upon believing Tim was killed and being taunted with Jason’s death, Dick kills the Joker. (the full thing is a six-issue miniseries)
Nightwing (1996) #63 - The aftermath of Dick killing the Joker (though he was revived), but I’m mainly including this for the one panel that shows a picture of Dick and Jason on what seems to be a ski trip.
Batman: Gotham Knights #34 - At the end there’s a story called “The Delusions of Alfred Pennyworth” about Jason’s ghost and Alfred.
Batman: Gotham Knights #43-#45 - Has a flashback to a Barbara and Jason teamup and a recap of Jason’s death as a social worker looks into it and investigates Bruce’s family.
Detective Comics #790 - Bruce talks to Cass about Jason on the day of Jason’s birthday.
Robin V4 #85 - The story itself is about the Joker reflecting on the Robins and Jason only appears briefly, but I think it’s worthwile to include as it’s one of the few times where the involvement of Jason’s mother in his death is acknowledged after Death in the Family. (Also there’s a panel where Jason kicks the joker on the crotch)
Green Arrow V3 (2001) #7 - The one panel where Jason is shown swinging around in heaven :)
Alternate Universes/Other Media
Some stuff that doesn’t fit anywhere else/isn’t quite comics/isn’t really canon, but I think is neat and wanted to include!
Letters - letters from readers sent during when Jason was Robin and after his death. They can be interesting to look through to get a sense of how he was seen by readers at the time (there’s even an eulogy by a clergyman!). The ones I’ve seen can be found in this tag, and this post links to a few too (as well as some other info regarding Jason and the vote that led to his death).
The Batman Files - A book that contains several files over various topics and characters across Batman’s history. Among other things, it has Jason’s death certificate. (mainly including this because early on I spent a while trying to find out how old he was when he died)
Tiny Titans #23, #29, #33, #39, #45, #47 - An adorable alternate universe comic in a kid-friendly setting! Jason’s design in it is very cute.
Batman The Brave and the Bold #13 - Jason and Robins from other points in time team up to save Batman!
Teen Titans Go! season 6, episode 17 (Egg Hunt) - He doesn’t actually appear, but Jason is namedropped and said to be Batman’s favorite Robin.
Batman And The New Robin (unmade cartoon) - An unproduced animated TV series from the late 80s that would have starred Bruce as Batman and Jason as Robin! Unfortunately the project was abandoned and the show was never made, but the full series bible is available to read in its entirety and a link to it can be found here! There’s a page on it on the Lost Media Wiki as well.

Stoner Witchcraft Blog Post #1
Amarok, Trickster Wolf Spirit:
and why FN Stories are often similiar but rarely the same
Warning: This post contains information about Chaotic and therefore; unpredictable Deities and Spirits. Do not approach these spirits without reason or they approach you as they did me.
Everything comes at a price - Anne Bishop
Dark Witchcraft is the path rarely followed
I found this on Pinterest randomly. I'm a Plains Cree living in Northern Canada, so some of these I'm familiar with different names and/or origin. Many stories do cross from tribe to tribe, so variations make it hard to find where they came from.
Most of these legends come from above the Arctic Circle. There are some that have travelled south and southwest - Orca and Wolf spirit have often been said to be both at once. What's interesting though, no one taught me that beforehand. I just figured it out based on the spirits being so similiar. Intelligent, loyal, family taught and orientated, pack hunters, harmless until they aren't. I actually (stoner me) missed that first time I looked at until now.
No... The spirit that grabbed my full attention was Amarok.
A lone giant Dire Wolf that'll either kill you or make you stronger. Chances are not in your favour if you cross one by accident. They're chaotic neutral, as most tricksters. They're gender neutral like most spirits, unless you're brave enough to check. They can speak, but rarely.
Amaroks fit right at home with my mixture of chaotic or neutral (usually both) Patrons.
Anubis
Lucifer
Loki
Amarok
Orca
Anubis is really the only voice of reason, Loki and Lucifer try to help... The Orca has been with me since a child in its wolf state, but living in a river town, I often dream of Orcas in fresh water.
Now, before anyone goes "name your source" first is wiki, second is my own experience, third is I'm one of the last generation raised as a traditional FN. My first language is Cree, and I grew up with many stories about different spirits, including several similiar but different creation stories.
I do talk to these Deities and spirits often. No, they are not beginner material and I don't encourage anyone to approach any of these Patrons. They will kick your ass if you fuck up badly enough, but they repay handsomely for loyalty, for a price.
These Deities came to me for my unusual compassion and empathy for those most forget about. I'll take extra suffering to prevent another. I'll sacrifice what means most to if it helps me regain myself and offers hope. This meant that despite wanting to hold on, I had to let go of the fact that, right now, I can't have a dog.
This year I had to give up two. My SDiT for snapping at a child, and a rescue that wasn't suited for my small place with no yard. My break up with my long term partner and Sir broke more than my heart. My big girl passed last year at 15.5 years. That when Anubis first came to me. Lucifer shortly after, and Loki the beginning of the year.
Amaroks ... Wolves in general don't scare me. I was the toddler who sat with the feral Rez dogs and got bit in the face, only to go back and leave that one alone.
It's not lack of fear; it's blending into whatever energy is needed. It's chaotic energy in raw form.
I just wanted to share this because I have a lot of stored witchcraft knowledge packed in my minds sacred space.
From tarot, mythology, cryptids, channeling, pop culture and witchcraft, music channeling, TV channeling, meditations, pet and animal magik, dark (not shadow) witchcraft, what is and isn't a familiar (yes, they can be physical form but their spirit will never leave you. Not all pets or even spirits make such an impression on the soul. I've been blessed with three in my life, my Hybrid directly connected me to Anubis and still holds place at his side.)

Very Important Update.
It is very likely that the wiki will not be coming back, which sucks for everyone looking for info AND the dedicated editors who kept it alive. Here are the links to their Discord and request forms in case you have any text or screenshots of what was up, or if you’re looking to help out—
Discord // Phabricator
I’d be devastated if they weren’t able to recover what they compiled. I loved the work that went into all their spreadsheets, summaries, and even the net of links that got around the site! plus the live event timers, oh my god. Again, I’m not one of the Wiki people so I’m not sure exactly what the right path of action is, so visit the miraheze site or social media if you have any questions.
best of luck to these brave souls, they may be more dedicated than I will ever be. 🫡
EDIT: I have requested the subdomain recovery for ToT on Phabrictor and will hopefully hear back soon. I’m also on their discord but I have no idea how it works because I get very shy on that app and just lurk. More updates when they come—in the meantime pls check or send me anything from the site you may have so we could consider recovery :)
the tears of themis wiki on miraheze has been down for a long time…
I miss you bby pls come back soon
#tears of themis#miraheze#fan wiki#honestly I’m so upset for them—I’m gonna scour my files and see what I have because I probably have some ToT entries saved!#sequel post

I was reading James Potter’s wiki the other day and I came across something rather interesting.
We always hear the ‘the marauders bullied Snape for no reason’ argument. Here it is directly stating it’s mostly a rivalry between James & Snape, and that the rivalry began when they (Sirius & James) insulted Snape (who had lily with him before anyone tries to say 2 on 1). So I pulled up the direct passage the wiki is referring to, so y’all don’t have too.
"You'd better be in Slytherin," said Snape, encouraged that she had brightened a little.
"Slytherin?"
One of the boys sharing the compartment, who had shown no interest at all in Lily or Snape until that point, looked around at the word, and Harry, whose attention had been focused entirely on the two beside the window, saw his father: slight, black-haired like Snape, but with that indefinable air of having been well-cared-for, even adored, that Snape so conspicuously lacked.
"Who wants to be in Slytherin? I think I'd leave, wouldn't you?" James asked the boy lounging on the seats opposite him, and with a jolt, Harry realized that it was Sirius. Sirius did not smile.
"My whole family have been in Slytherin," he said.
"Blimey," said James, "and I thought you seemed all right!"
Sirius grinned.
"Maybe I'll break the tradition. Where are you heading, if you've got the choice?"
James lifted an invisible sword.
"'Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart!' Like my dad."
Snape made a small, disparaging noise. James turned on him.
"Got a problem with that?"
"No," said Snape, though his slight sneer said otherwise. "If you'd rather be brawny than brainy--"
"Where're you hoping to go, seeing as you're neither?" interjected Sirius.
James roared with laughter. Lily sat up, rather flushed, and looked from James to Sirius in dislike.
"Come on, Severus, let's find another compartment."
"Oooooo..."
James and Sirius imitated her lofty voice; James tried to trip Snape as he passed.
"See ya, Snivellus!" a voice called, as the compartment door slammed...
The birth of Snivellus. Listen, I’m a Slytherin. I know the stigmatism around this house. Sirius, who even says his whole family is Slytherin doesn’t take James comment personally and continues to joke with him. They hadn’t even been sorted yet, so Snape had no correlation to Slytherin house to even get insulted. They are all eleven. I’m not going try to completely defend the boys, I’m just saying Snape had absolutely no reason to get defense and who hasn’t gotten a horrible nickname when you were younger?
This the reason of the ‘bullying’. Check mate snivellstans

Shit I’ve Been Winding Up For A Long Time Now But Am Very Aware Will Probably Hold No Relevance Should I Actually Go Into This More--
This is about Bhunivelze.
I.
You know, when I was chilling out, on my bed, that evening on that half term in early June, deciding to check up on ClementJ64′s FF retrospective because-- Hey! It’s been awhile, I wonder if he’s got around to doing the final bit of the FFXIII saga --You know, I was there, chilling, just for a laff. Just a laff.
The rest of that week was spent spiralling into a hyperfixation I absolutely did not anticipate in any way, shape, or form, because the way they introduced that character was “wwhdhfjjhHJDFJKHKJHW H A T??”
That retrospective and a good amount of wiki-scrounging is all I have as a basis for this. This is not a coherent character analysis-- Though I might tag it as that for ease of access. This is not, by any means, the thoughts of someone deeply familiar with FFXIII on the whole beyond plot synopses and overarching themes.
I don’t think I’m brave enough for that.
Reading the vast yet surface-deep lore on those wiki pages on my birthday while in a delirious state of mind was enough to make me somewhat nauseous.
Do you think I’m going to go through all of that in real time?
(Someday, someday.)
Ugh, I don’t know how to begin, but let us, I guess. I’d recommend you read this church-mime-demiurge’s FF Wiki page if you want the same level of base-knowledge I had, and maybe the aformentioned retrospective if you want the experience, because I don’t think I have the wherewithal to get into all of that from the bottom-up.
I am also, so, so fucking sorry for any remaining FFXIII fans in advance. There is like, a good chance I may be butchering the characterisation completely, so bear with me here.
With that... we begin?
Where do we even start with this guy?
How on earth to you begin to explain the absolute monolith you’ve constructed from crumbs of a Guy, some material no doubt spliced in from the Pale King, Sephiroth, y o u r o w n G o d O C and other characters, and the mountains of religious trauma you carry around at all times that is probably the only reason you’ve been able to latch on as hard as you did?
I’m going to try.
What gets me, in summary, about Bhunivelze is how he’s a prime example of how love and concern can become deadly forces if in the wrong hands. His first acquainting with human emotion was by deceiving and possessing Hope, reverting his body to a teenage state, and planning to live among humanity through him. He sees human sorrow and suffering, and decides that, to End This(because it must be ended, you see) he’s going to destroy all the souls of the deceased that make up the Chaos that’s been eating this world for the past five-hundred years so they all forget and Are Happy. :).
Capital G God here hasn’t been present for the vast part of human history because he’s hidden himself away from Everything due to paranoia from killing his own mother and throwing her body into the Cosmic Basement, THEN creating the beings that would come to create humanity and OTHER beings because he didn’t have the keys to the cosmic basement. And also he believes death is a thing because she’d’ve somehow cursed all things to pass(including him) out of Spite.
Which explains why he’s so fucking averse to it and anything to do with it.
Bhunivelze, to put it lightly, is Shit at stepping into others’ shoes and Getting their experiences-- All the FalCie in FFXIII are, but him especially. It’s clear(again, in the f u c k i n g JP--) that he makes attempts to sympathise with them and does what he can to help, but it’s with such a loftiness and a complete inability to Understand why anyone would want grief, The Worst Fucking Experience In Existence, and even less why they’d be willing to Go Up Against Him And HisThe New Perfect World just for it-- And what would it matter, anyway, forgetting their loved ones. It’s not like you can grieve lost memories, right?
Right.
It reminds me of when at the end of the story of Job in the Bible, where, after putting this man through hell on earth, God rewards Job by giving him ten new children to make up for the ones that he lost. I. And that’s fucked! Nothing can replace the sheer uniqueness of each individual person you loved so dearly! But if you were a nigh-omnipotent deity high and mighty, with a cursory, almost mechanical knowledge on the functionings of the human psyche, that would seem adequete; enough.
Bhunivelze is doing that on a cosmic level.
I now want to get onto the romance: that being, his affections for Lightning. I don’t know how much I’m going to say, but it’ll probably be alot. It’s something that hits very close to home.
There is this... thing, within certain branches of Christianity, perhaps even in those of various Abrahamic faiths, where God’s love is posited to be the love-- The ultimate, most-fulfilling, all-encompassing love you could ever imagine --Because, well, he is love, so the story goes, and so often the best way to convey that is through the imagery of...
Marriage.
Giving up yourself so completely, to serve, to be the Bride; to be bound by him for all eternity; and for there to be no higher bliss than this.
This angle is pushed on young girls and women the most; from the mere parallels to the woman’s role in marriage, all the way down to downright-horrifying ultra-Evangelical purity pacts. With men, God is your dad, your best bud and confidant, your boss, your king, your this, your that, and the ‘marriage‘ as it were is relegated to a sort of half-thought; a metaphor.
For me, God was an attempt at all that, and my arranged groom.
(It was almost incestuous; was incestuous, that my own Divine Father would reach for my hand in marriage.)
Bhunivelze experiences Emotions™ for the first time through Hope, experiences Hope’s sheer overwhelming admiration for Lighting(whether there were any baby-crush feelings mixed in, I can’t say), and promptly falls into a nigh-romantic obsession with Lightning, deciding that she will be Etro(his all-but daughter)’s replacement, will be his Goddess of Death to-be-- He even calls her as such, before the final boss-battle--
...In the JP.
What happened in localisation, probably due to a number of factors, all the way back in early 2014, was that everything emotionally challenging about Bhunivelze was scraped off, like it was extra fat, and tossed aside, leaving us with the bland, clichéd shell of a foe-god we’ve seen time and time again. And I mean everything. I mean his very love for humanity; the fact his ploy was, in his eyes, to save them. Because if they’d left that all on, then it would raise the question of even if there was such a seemingly pure, all-knowing, loving being hell-bent on setting things “straight,“ would they truly be unquestionable? Would we have the right to fight for our humanity in the face of the Creator of the Universe?
To reject a love so personal?
That’s what gets me about FFXIII’s tackling of God, no matter how hackneyed and poorly-executed. It’s personal.
It’s from a feminine experience.
I know that terming is... vague, and problematic, but the way Christianity and much of the video game industry handle femininity itself is weird and problematic, so as it stands, I’ll have to simplify it. Apologies.
What sets FFXIII’s Let’s Kill God™ plot aside from most JRPG Let’s Kill God™ plots is that with our protagonist being a woman, and one who is very in touch with her femininity alongside her sheer strength; often, in these stories, God is reduced to Yet Another Foe, expected or unexpected, and you are tasked with taking him down unquestioningly for the Good of Mankind-- You will fight God, because you are right to, and you will go man-to-man-to-however-many-men you decide to bring along for the bloodbath.
And that just, doesn’t speak to me.
Even as an Extian.
Especially as an Extian. And an AFAB one with a deeply complicated experience with my gender, at that.
Leaving Christianity was painful. Questioning God was painful. Coming to terms with the fact that I had been mentally, emotionally, and spiritually traumatised under the guise of All-Encompassing Love was so, so fucking painful. I had been taught since I was five years old to devote myself to him, spent my life desperate to feel something, anything, to stay connected because I just, I never could Feel It on a deeper level, never could Give Up Myself, all I was, couldn’t Die A Spiritual Death And Be Reborn As His Eager Vessel, thus deeming myself to be worthless and a broken vessel for years and years on end... And for all that to have been... Nothing.
Lightning is hollowed out, the shards of her dead sister ripped from her in-stasis, leaving her emotionally numb for the majority of the game, Bhunivelze sweeps it under the rug, pretends he’ll perform a miracle and return Serah to life in exchange for her compliance, then sends her on her way to do his work, all the while knowing he’s going to pull said-rug from under her and elevate her such dizzying heights in the aftermath--
That he’ll deny her humanity.
Sand down all the rough edges that make her her, and polish her up afterwards, gild her as he is gilded, make her a Goddess.
And he’ll do it all because he loves her.
You can’t fight God like you can everything else. To fight It is the fight Existence Itself; FFXIII even conveys that by making Bhunivelze’s model part of the arena; it’s baked into the fabric of the game, no matter how minute.
While Lightning Returns is far from perfect in its execution of this concept, and that in itself makes me wince, not even taking into account the horribly botched excuse for a localisation Bhunivelze endured, it speaks to me more than anything else I’ve seen so far.
And it’s helped uncover some things within me. Helped me untangle them, just a little more.
So, yeah. I have alot of Thoughts on Bhunivelze, I want to share them, and I’m kinda really sad I have no one but my currently-absent friend Vee to share them with. I could get into alot more, like his very Fucked relationship with familial bonds, and how Lightning’s role as saviour so deeply parallels the overwhelming panic and never-ending guilt of Evangelical proselytisation, but I think I’ll leave those for another time.
In short, Bhunivelze is the epitome of Divine Love gone deeply wrong; on all fronts.
And if all of that isn’t enough to intrigue you, then, in Vee’s words, Lightning and Velze are literally canon endgame Sefikura lmaOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--
