📝Devlog May 26th - Snowhaven Studios

Hello everyone!

Our team has been working hard to make awesome games, so we wanted to share what we have going on behind the scenes this May. 

First, we’d like to highlight a brand update that we announced recently on Tumblr. Our studio has shifted from away from a more narrow focus of games, to a variety of genres from varying perspectives. This has been an important transition for our studio as it reflects the diversity in our games, which we feel is important for our growth as an indie studio. This ties in with some of the awesome games we have coming out, so read on to hear more about it!

Our biggest accomplishment for the month was that we updated the Love’s Crescendo demo! For those of you that don’t know, Love’s Crescendo is our latest upcoming rhythm game VN hybrid that features rhythm game mechanics and the blossoming romance between Valerie and Cadence.  Some of the new additions to the updated demo includes: dynamic animations and camera movement, speaker highlights so you know who is talking, and UI improvements to make the visuals more appealing!

You’ll find the overall gameplay of the mini games to be a lot smoother this time around, including a ready/start animation to prepare you for hitting the notes. There’s also a How To Play screen which helps players learn the mechanics before diving in. Check out the new demo by clicking here. Another notable event for this month was the character reveals for Love’s Crescendo. We shared all of the characters, some for the first time that aren’t found in the demo. If you’ve been following our development on Twitter and Tumblr, you’ve probably come to the conclusion that all of the LC characters have spectacular hairstyles, and you’re right about that! 

We also celebrated the anniversary of My Sweet Confession earlier this month. Dara @pogo-a-gogo made celebratory chibi art for Hana and Ichika to celebrate the release of our beloved yuri game. My Sweet Confession is a wholesome yuri dating sim about rekindling friendship and hopefully turning it into something more. You can play My Sweet Confession by clicking here.

Last but not least, we’re making steady progress on another upcoming title, Drops of Death, a murder mystery VN where the killer is randomly chosen at the start of the game–with a romantic twist where players can date the killer.

We’ve been working on the routes for the main cast, including Detective Singh, Fawn, Edwin, and Natasha. The artwork for these characters is also a work in progress, including the main character Adrien, an MC with customizable pronouns.

Over 7k downloads on our game's demo!!

Snowhaven Devlog 4/21/2023 It's been a while since we posted a dev update, but our studio has accomplished a lot, and we're excited to share it with you all! We've reached over 7,000 downloads of the Love's Crescendo demo!! SEVEN THOUSAND?!! Thank you all so much for your support! It means a lot to us, and it gives us even more motivation to keep working on the UPDATED and IMPROVED demo that we have planned. Stay tuned for more details on that~ Until then, please enjoy our official loading screen animation! We have another exciting milestone coming up, and that's the anniversary of My Sweet Confession this May. Be on the lookout for NEW never-before-seen artwork that we'll post to socials to celebrate. Overall, our team is working hard, and with our new rebrand (see pinned post) combined with our current progress and plans, this year is very promising for us!

We’re back with our monthly update, covering everything we’ve been working on here at Snowhaven Studios.

Drops of Death

As you may know, Drops of Death has been gaining popularity across our social media accounts, and it's exciting to see the response we’ve received just from the small bits we’ve shared about the project. The game is still in its early stages, but what we can tell you right now is we are currently working on writing Singh’s route, which is nearly complete. Singh is the detective who is working to find the killer, but ironically, this man could very well be the killer himself.

She is also working on some of the CGs for the game, including this creepy doll that Adrien receives in the mail as a threatening “gift.” Spooky, right?

Eleanor is working her magic to create the sprites and CGs for Drops of Death. We can’t spoil much more right now in terms of CGs, but trust us when we say there’s a good mix of chilling scenes AND romantic ones. 

Choose your pronouns and play as Adrien, who could have been the victim of a gruesome murder, but has luckily escaped with their life. But now, our MC has to tread with caution, because someone around them is very likely the killer. 

Love’s Crescendo

While we work on DoD, we have also made steady progress on Love’s Crescendo, our rhythm game visual novel. We recently shared this new clip of the game, showcasing a scene not revealed in the demo.

Kristi (@husbandogoddess ) is very skilled when it comes to making lively, animated scenes for our games, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The camera movement and snow falling really help paint the picture of Valerie and Cadence’s love for one another.

The scripting has been completed, and now we’ve been turning our focus to some of the UI designs, including the CG gallery’s layout. These were the list of concepts we zeroed in on, and the team seemed to like the bottom row of gallery ideas the best!

July 2023 Devlog: We Updated our Steam Page for Drops of Death!💀💔

Hi everyone!

We’re back with another monthly devlog, bringing news of a good number of accomplishments we’ve achieved this past month. First of all, we updated the Steam page for Drops of Death, which now features freshly made assets, fun character gifs (see below), and polished character intros made by our fantastic artist Eleanor (link to Eleanor’s twitter)! 

Our Steam page doesn’t currently feature a demo, but just know that we recently began work on one. We encountered this funny Adrien ghost sprite while we (and by we I mean Kristi aka @husbandogoddess) started to add the characters to the build! Another huge accomplishment is the Drops of Death trailer that we dropped when we revealed our fresh new Steam page. Dara’s (link to Dara's Twitter) attention to detail is immaculate; can you believe how detailed her design of the slot machine is? It really fits the vibe of a game where the killer can easily wind up being any one of the love interests.

In other news, Love’s Crescendo is getting the attention from us that it needs, and I hope you all enjoyed the demo update we released just a few months ago. Things really feel like they are moving along! One thing to note is that we are currently deciding between a few different composers to create the final tracks of the game.

Snowhaven Studios Mini Devlog 5/5/2023

Next week we are celebrating the anniversary of My Sweet Confession! On another note, we've been progressing through the development of Love's Crescendo. We've started working on concepts for the CG gallery that are in line with the music theme of the game. 🎹 Kristi @husbandogoddess is the Narrative Designer and has been scripting the chapters and they are so animated and beautiful.
