Snow bros 2 gameboy
#SNOW BROS 2 GAMEBOY PRO#
The course itself is otherwise an everyday ride, but it’s a welcome diversion to have in the mix. It’s fun to maneuver around the train, go through the tunnel, and ride along the tracks. Joe’s take articulates perfectly what makes Kalimari Desert interesting and special: there’s a train in it. “ I liked Kalimari Desert because the train was there.”įrom the mouths of babes. Outside of that, it’s pretty by-the-numbers racing, but a welcome addition that has translated nicely and still holds up, particularly at higher speeds. It is once again wonderfully delivered in this update. The music in this track is unforgettable, and for some of us, it has been chiseled into our Mode-7 minds. It’s simple, very flat, and relatively short, though it does feature some thrilling turns, in particular, a legendary 180° midway through.īut what really makes this one sing like Pauline in New Donk City is the unadulterated sentimentality of being transported back to 1992. Mario Circuit 3 lives and dies based on your nostalgia for SNES tracks, a 30-year-old memory we’re reasonably sure Joe doesn’t share. “What I like about Mario Circuit 3 was that it was short and that Luigi almost won the race.” But who parks their cabs like that? Mario Circuit 3 Image: Nintendo They have their own look and feel, and they don’t always soar to the heights of the main batch, but their distinctive track styles and semi-realistic setting are a welcome change for us hardened Kart enthusiasts. Overall, New York Minute is yet another good pull from the batch of mobile tracks. There’s also a shocking lack of piles of trash, rats, or dollar pizza joints in this imagined New York City, but you do get to speed through scrubbed-down facsimiles of Times Square and Central Park, where the portrayal of wandering Goombas is surprisingly accurate. It doesn’t reach the heights of the previous DLC’s reality-based Paris, but it has a leg-up on too-short Tokyo. Well said, Joe. New York Minute is a fun and colorful addition to the roster of Mario Kart 8 courses, most entertaining when chaining tight turns, but it shows its Mario Kart Tour roots in its brevity and simplicity. “ What I like about New York Minute was that you can go really fast and the it was kind of short. The Turnip Cup begins Wave 2 of the Mario Kart 8 DLC with: New York Minute Image: Nintendo Let’s take a closer look at the Wave 2 DLC from the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass! We thought we’d get Joe’s wise opinions on each of the new tracks for Mario Kart and give you a little perspective of our own. Take some notes, Nintendo, this kid has excellent ideas. If Joe could have anything added to Mario Kart it would be, of course, laser shields. He has several favorite tracks, a standout among them Ninja Hideaway from the last batch of DLC, which he wisely notes he loves because he has, “always wanted to become a ninja.” So have we, Joe. Joe likes to ride in style as the Splat Buggy set up with Leaf Wheels and a Super Glider, and while he typically mains Lemmy, he also loves suiting up his Mii-rider with a specialty Pac-Man helmet, as unlocked by the Pac-Man Amiibo his Uncle gave him. He and Uncle Chris fire up FaceTime and take down two Cups at least once a week, and they eagerly anticipate the arrival of all the new tracks.
#SNOW BROS 2 GAMEBOY PRO#
He turns five in September, and he’s been hopping corners and firing off red shells like a pro ever since racing with his Uncle Chris at his fourth birthday party. Joe has been playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for almost a quarter of his life. That’s why we asked our friend Joe, a 4-year-old Mario Kart enthusiast from Massachusetts, what he thought of the new tracks from the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass Wave 2 DLC. Playing Mario Kart can make you feel like a kid again. We here at Goomba Stomp have our own opinions about the latest Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass DLC tracks, but let’s be honest, what we need in this world is the fresh eyes of a 4-year-old super fan.

Alternate Title: Connections & Missed Connections- The Melissa Returns Story.
It’s about 9 am EST on Wednesday. I feel so bored. I’m home after a whirlwind of a day and I am exhausted with a confused body. Allow me to tell the tale of my return trip home- spoiler: it’s way less happy-go-lucky than the initial trip.
I started Monday morning in Italy at about 8:30 am. I woke up to finish cleaning my apartment out, pack some final items, and then get picked up to drive to Malpensa. I arrived at the airport around 10:30 for my 12:55 flight and it was the appropriate amount of time, if you ask me. (Wow, writing and recalling these details really feels like a lifetime ago) I got in line for the baggage drop, and since I had my boarding pass on my phone, I got to wait in a shorter line hell yeah. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the counter, the woman told me I would have to check my carry-on bag (for free!) because I was about to get on a fully-booked flight and I wouldn’t be able to stow my luggage overhead. She gave me about 30 seconds to grab what I would need out of my bag. I opted for my Gameboy 2DS (That I hadn’t been able to charge because of the wattage inequalities in Europe), its cord, and crackers. I figured my phone and headphones would be enough entertainment if I couldn’t find a place to charge my 2DS. I said goodbye to my bag, for what I thought would be until Rochester...but my, how things changed.
I walked to the security area with my over-stuffed purse and ditched my apple from the morning because it was too bulky. Security was quick because I only had the bag. The Italian woman who was watching the X-ray machine told me it was okay to put my Polariod instant camera underneath because the film wouldn’t affect it. I trusted her, and took a picture after and it looked washed out, but I wasn’t so sure it was the film having been fogged or if it was the light itself that was too much to be processed. I anxiously took another photo of a Lindt chocolate display, and it seemed to be alright, and the other 2 photos I took during that day came out fine too, crisis averted.
I now had a bunch of time until my flight, so I decided to get something to eat, since I was running on nothing. I saw a cute bar ahead, and was in the mood for a croissant with chocolate. That all changed once I saw that I had the option to get a crepe with chocolate and strawberries! I watched the crepe get made, strawberries ontop, folded....and then placed into an ice cream cone? I was a little confused, and seriously wondered why but, I took it and devoured it with little hesitancy. Here’s a picture
Weird right? Still makes my mouth water, just looking at it. After I finished, I took the long walk to my gate for my first flight to Amsterdam. I know some folks who have a close connection with the city, and Holland in general, and even though I wouldn’t be able to leave the airport to experience the canals, I was excited to fly over the country to be able to have a little connection myself.
I waited at my gate, in a sweaty line, and finally boarded the flight almost 20 minutes later than we should have, and sat in seat 7A with two guys that I didn’t really interact with. They mostly read and slept for the 1h 25m flight North. Taking off was sad. I was leaving behind my favorite country, but finally heading back to where all of my best friends are...but I was leaving behind new friends and all around great humans who took care of me and made it feel like I was never really alone in all of the 5 weeks. I owe them many thanks and will miss those humans a lot.
Flying North was amazing, the Alps were so close to us, and looking at all of their details- ridges, small ponds, and snow- was amazing. I honestly wrote some lines in a Memo on my phone. Here they are:
Small towns in the valleys of the Alps as we fly north. The mountains curiously poke out from the thick, flat clouds, capped with snow. Vast. A small lake is hidden on top of a mountain. Has any human touched it?
We sailed through the sky and finally the mountains became flat again, and I started to see greenery come into view. This, I assumed, was Holland.
I loved all of the canals, especially the ones that lined the highways- what a nice alternative! I was excited to finally touch down at Schiphol, and, as it was an Italian-based flight, someone did clap when it landed!
I made my way briskly out of the plane to find information on my connection to New York, before that, I found a Starbucks, and couldn’t help but get a Chai Latte to affirm my American status, as if anyone had any question. Every sip was worth every Euro. I walked to security and found a very angry American father who was swearing at a Schiphol worker because he couldn’t stand in the self-service line because he had people under 16 in his party, so he had to wait in a longer line. I was able to proceed simply, and receive my Schiphol stamp in my passport! Achievement unlocked!
I then walked about 15 minutes through the terminal to get to my gate, which was all the way at the end of the terminal. I heard a mixture of languages once I sat down- Dutch, Italian, and of course English. There were some seating problems which delayed us a little bit, but I got to my seat, 20K, which was next to a couple in their early 60s. I was aboard one of Boeing’s new 787-9 Dreamliners, all of which have a name. Mine was Bougainville. I immediately spotted a universal outlet where I could charge my 2DS, and a USB port where I could charge my phone. I also learned that instead of shades to block out the sun, there’s a button that can be used to tint the windows to let some or no sun in. So high-tech!
The couple I mentioned next to me were very nice people. Originally from Croatia, met, married, and now live in New York City and own a construction business. They were on holiday in Croatia, visiting their son. We looked at the 3D map on our screens together, and talked about all of the places we have traveled or places I should go! We talked a few times over the course of the flight, and it was nice to have such nice people text to me.
Dinner is it’s own paragraph for a reason. KLM food was great. I had Vegetarian Pasta Arrabiata- penne, vegetables, red saurce, and cheese (yes, I had my medicine). I also had a roll on the side, cheese and crackers, and a few cream puffs with some whipped cream. I only had water to drink, because I didn’t want to risk feeling unwell for the next leg of my trip. I watched 2 movies on the flight- both films I had every intention to watch, but had missed: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them & Hidden Figures. I LOVED both of them for different reasons. I could do a whole other post on these two films alone, but I hope it’s sufficient to say: they both had incredible acclaim for a reason.
Landing brought a whole slew of problems though. I was excited to turn my phone off of airplane mode for the first time in 5 weeks...and when I did... that’s when I got the dreaded message.
Delta only texts me with bad news. The worst part was the rebooking information. I instantly panicked before we finished getting off the plane- to me, this meant I would have to ATTEMPT to sleep in John F. Kennedy International Airport. No way. The nice couple next to me promised to stay with me until I got an answer. We went through customs together, and they helped me out by buying me access to one of those luggage carts for my 2 suitcases. They walked with me to the Delta help counter in Terminal 4 and when I found out I had to go elsewhere, we shook hands and parted ways. I won’t ever forget their kindness.
I had to push my cart to the elevators, head up to the fourth floor of the terminal and go to the other Delta counter for more information. I told the woman at the beginning of the line “I have been rebooked for a flight tomorrow morning, but I don’t know where to stay, and I was told to come up here.” Well, as if it was some sort of cruel joke, I was told to go back down to the first floor and talk to a rebooking agent. Fantastic. I turned around, back to the elevators, and went back down. I talked to a rebooking agent and he was barely useful. He told me that Delta doesn’t usually give out reimbursements when it comes to weather cancellations. I asked if there was a flight to Buffalo, and he said it was cancelled there too. He gave me my boarding pass for the next flight in the morning, and Customer Care information and wished me goodnight. I wandered around the first floor of the terminal with this huge cart. I was grumpy amidst friends and families reuniting. I went to the welcome desk, and asked the lady (who didn’t even make eye contact with me) where the hotel desk was. She pointed and told me around the corner. I sighed and gave a half-hearted thank you. I turned around and got into another line. When it was my turn, the guy at the desk asked what I needed- and I said accommodation for just one night, preferably something cheap. He told me the cheapest he had just given away was $243 for one night. I actually couldn’t breathe for a moment and forced myself to cough. Okay. He said he’d make some calls for me to see if he could find something cheaper.
I frantically texted Andy (again, thanks for being a bro), Claire, and Alisha who all had different ways of quelling the fire of anxiety inside of me. Even if I was completely isolated in a giant airport with 50 pounds of luggage I still had people with me, in a certain sense, so that was comforting, when I look back on it. The hotel counter guy told me he found a room for $149 + tax, and said that was probably as cheap as I was going to find. I sighed heavily and gave him a yes to process the order. I gave him my card, and had to wheel my cart over to the Travelex conversion counter to change my last 10 euro bank note into $10.09. I raced back and paid the booking fee. The guy at the desk gave me a map and told me to catch the airport shuttle, I would have to take the elevator upstairs, catch the JFK AirTrain and then get off at the Federal Circle station, pick up one of the partner hotel phones and dial 49 and request the shuttle pick me up. I waited outside among a huge group of people, and boarded the shuttle with 3 others- one Canadian guy my age, and two Italians on their way to Montreal! Buon viaggio! The ride to the hotel was short, and once I got into my room I collapsed into my bed. I was hungry but I only had energy to eat some broken crackers I attempted to bring from Italy an a cup of mint tea.
I woke up at 5, as I predicted I would, and laid around until I had 10 minutes until my shuttle came. Naturally, I didn’t budget enough time for me to eat my hotel waffle, so I ate it in the shuttle. I lugged my suitcases inside, dropped them both at the baggage drop with the previous night’s tracking stickers, headed through security where there was another good security dog doing good work. I took a RIDICULOUS walk to my gate. Probably almost 20 minutes, honestly. It was gate B51 and I used many of those automatic sidewalks to propel myself forward faster. I got to my gate so early that the screen was still set for Charlotte, NC and I thought I was in the wrong place. Soon enough, that flight left, and the screen updated for the Rochester flight. I enjoyed doing nothing for an hour, and boarded the tiny aircraft after a slight delay. We were all buckled in, door closed, safety demo completed....when the captain came out to make an announcement. Because of the weather, air traffic control gave him an alternate route, and to be sure we were safe, they had requested more fuel for the flight. I appreciate the caution and care but WOW I JUST WANTED TO BE HOME. The fuel truck eventually pulled up beside me and, because of the law, the plane door had to be open during the fuel process...which meant it had to be closed...which meant the safety demo had to be done again. I am a very patient person, I think, but this was driving me insane.
The whole flight, I kept checking my watch and the window. Slowly but surely I started to see the Finger Lakes and the NYS Thruway and once I recognized a big blue mass to be Lake Ontario and Irondequoit Bay, I was so excited to finally be where home was. My brother met me at the exit point and we retrieved my luggage and headed back into the comparatively slow-moving Irondequoit for some Wendy’s.
And that’s it. I’m incredibly tired and jetlagged. I fell asleep in my bed last night at 5, 7, and 10 after waking up a bunch. I woke this morning at 6 am feeling fully rested. It’s going to take a few days to get back to normal. I don’t mind waking up at 6, but the whole getting tired at 7 needs to stop. I know my body thinks that at that time it’s 1 am, but it has to adapt to the sunlight here. I think the best way to do that is to get outside. I intend on seeing many friends this week, going to a few record stores, and having a bonfire- my 3 favorite things that I’ve missed a whole lot while being abroad. I can’t believe this journey is over. It’ll be nice to relax and reflect on it all and myself. Thank you for following my travels!
