Characters: College!Spider-Verse!Miles Morales
Type: headcanons
Synopsis: What would our lovely boy Miles be like as a grown up college student? Does he change or does he still keep his dorky, boyish demeanor?
A/N: HAPPY JUNETEENTH TO MY FELLOW NEGROS!!! In honor of Juneteenth and the release of ATSV, I'm dumping some headanons on yall, and I'm so proud of how these turned out. I was talking with my friend how we heavily believed that we would see a grown up Miles but when we found out only a year passed in Miles’ timeline for him, the topic of college!Miles came up. So these headcanons are pretty much a product of how we thought miles would be as a college student around our age.
Note: the first pic is of Shameik Moore, I just used a cartoon filter over it to try and make it look like the art style in the spiderverse franchise. The third one is not Shameik Moore but I use the same cartoon filter over it for the same effect
Warnings: Some cursing but that’s about it. KEEP IT CUTE PG-16 CUZ THIS IS NEPHEW WE TALKIN' BOUT HERE!!!

College!Miles isn’t a complete one-eighty of his mid-teen self, but rather, he builds on the defining attributes of his youth and matures them. He’s still pretty self-effacing, modest and humble, but he’s more confident in himself and the man he wants to become. He’s selfless and courageous and loving to a fault, and anyone who’s anyone who has been in his presence can say that Miles is a great person all around.
College!Miles ends up going to study in New Jersey, majoring in Physics Engineering, but also minoring in African Psychology on the track for social work. He knows that he can only do so much good behind his Spiderman mask, and believes that he should also be putting in the work when he isn’t wearing it. It’s an obligation for him to put his best food forward for his community and his people.
College!Miles who mixes his style with 90’s black streetwear and modern day. He’s a sneakerhead, so his dorm room gradually accumulates with boxes upon boxes of shoes damn near reaching the ceiling. His room back home is much worse though (Rio can’t even clean his room anymore because everywhere she looks, it’s a box of shoes chucked somewhere. Mama has given up lmao). And similar to the first outfit we see him in in ATSV, he loves the sports-jersey-over-solid-color-shirt combo, but has a decent amount of hoodies and tee’s both graphic and plain, that he likes to throw on with a pair of jeans and shoes. He knows how to dress, and he knows that he looks good in what he wears too.
College!Miles who never steps out the house without a chain on. He’s got two specific ones that he wears primarily - a silver cuban link his parents got him for his eighteenth birthday that he wears daily, and a gold snake chain that he bought for himself with his first check from his first big boy job. There are other necklaces that he has that he’ll throw on it he wants to switch things up. He’s not a big fan of things on his wrist (he’s gotten too used to the web shooters that everything else just feels funny or wrong), but he has a watch that he only wears to be fancy and a couple of rings that go on his middle or forefingers. He also has a few pairs of studded earrings he switches between every now and then to keep up a fresh look.
College!Miles who starts to take special care in his appearance as he reaches his late teen years. He can only go to his mom when he’s on breaks or vacation when he travels back to Brooklyn, but he’s learned enough from Rio to do his own line-ups and touch ups to make him look decent. It took him a minute to get used to doing it on his own, but he was adamant on learning because he was firm on not letting anyone else into his head besides his mother. He’d recently gotten into cutting slits into his eyebrows too, as they make him feel super cool
College!Miles who knows he’s got girls & guys coming left and right waiting for the opportunity to get with him, but as much as he’s a loverboy, he’s also very intentional with how he moves and is very perceptive of people (his Spidey senses enhance it a lot more than what he wishes sometimes) that he peeps that a lot of them are only attracted to his looks. He doesn’t date for the first few semesters of college, and when his parents ask if he’s gonna bring someone home soon, he tells them that he’s too busy making gateways to dimensions to open the gateways to dating
College!Miles whose love for hip hop never dies over the years. Instead it seems to grow. He adds a few new artists to her playlist - JID, Young M.A., Tobe Nwigwe, & Kendrick Lamar from the hip hop and rap scenes (Miles uses many of Tobe’s songs as hype music to gas himself up). Though he’s also found an appreciation for other genres, like R&B and Neo-Soul. Some of these artists include but are not limited to: H.E.R., UMI, Ari Lennox, and Bryson Tiller.
College!Miles who still holds on to his art as a hobby and destresser from his many classes and double-identity. His street art follows him wherever he goes, tagging new places that have people wondering who the hell made it all the way up there to tag that. There’s a secret pride that swells in him when he sees passersby admiring the artwork.
College!Miles who, when the world gets too much and he feels like everythings going wrong, he climbs the tallest building he can find and just watches the sunrise or sunset. He lets the breathtaking view ease his mind and the warm sun soothe his worries away. Being so high up and away from people allows him to actually think about the troubles that plague him, so when he comes back down, he can address them accordingly
College!Miles who’s still very much a momma’s boy. He calls Rio almost every day, either to just talk or to rant about something silly. She’ll put him on speaker for Jefferson to hear and just looks at her husband like “Listen to your son” when he’s being silly. But it’s so sweet that Miles always has his parents on his mind when he’s away at school. He also calls his dad to have ‘guy talk’, which ain’t nothing but Miles and Jefferson either talking about sports, his academics (which Jeff is really supportive of, even if he doesn’t understand the physics part, he loves to hear his sons ideas on the psychology minor he’s taken on) or random funny shit the guys that they hang around do every day.
College!Miles who grows more confident in his Spanish and uses it more and more in his day-to-day life. He’ll speak it when he’s talking to himself, when he’s angry or if he’s hurt himself (which happens the same amount of times as it did when he was a teen), or he’ll try and surprise his mom with a conversation in complete Spanish (which he does succeed in sometimes).
College!Miles who’s barely changed from the loveable boy who we all know and love as a teen. He just grew some more and became cooler, but he still radiates the same dorky, intelligent, and loving energy he’s always had.

Chapter Five: The Clan
Navigation Previous chapter | Story Masterlist | Next chapter Chapter word count 3,232 words. Chapter warnings/tags fighting, more parties, yoongi is almost healed, minghao and daniel actively tell jungkook that his wardrobe is trash, yugyeom's wardrobe isn't much better lol, jimin jealous?
Minghao is laying on Jungkook's bed, his arms a pillow under his chin as he watches his roommate tear apart his closet. The small array of color choices either for shirts or jeans is enough to give him a headache as he watches with null interest. He finally grabs at Jungkook's pant leg before he can turn back to his closet, "Hey, Gguk, why not just borrow something from me. It's not like you can wear anything you own. I haven't seen such a goodie-goodie closet since I was in elementary school."
"I would, Ming, but the problem is that we're two different sizes."
"Not in my sweats," his roommate offers as he rolls off Jungkook's bed and towards his own closet, "I order them bigger so they don't make me look scary thin." He pulls out a medium gray set, handing them over to Jungkook before he can oppose, "Besides, you don't own anything name-brand. You should at least make a small statement if you're going to a party."
"Name brand isn't everything," Jungkook mumbles as he accepts the outfit.
Jungkook looks over the sweats as he pulls off his shirt. Puma, he had heard of that brand before a few times between Daniel and Minghao when they would discuss things. Daniel seemed to be more interested in sneakers where Minghao focused more on clothes and then there was him, the boy who only wore whatever his mom would buy him since he was five.
"Why do I feel like I'm going to regret this?"
Minghao sighs, "Look, I cannot be held accountable for how many people are going to fall all over themselves for you at the party. I can only give you the means to succeed. It's up to you how you use that success."
The door of their room opens behind them, Daniel appearing wrapped in black skinny jeans and a burgundy jean jacket that covers what has to be a black university tee. He's carrying his leather boots, another black addition to his dark lifestyle, as he eyes his two roommates. "So, do I need to come back? I didn't know you two had gotten that close."
Jungkook pulls on the sweatshirt over his naked torso, checking out the fat pull strings instead of answering his roommate. The jaguar was cute, he guessed, for lack of a better thought on the brand name. He slides out of his pants to pull on the bottoms while Minghao tackles the conversation with Daniel.
"Gguk's going to a party again. I wasn't going to let him go in his clothes."
Daniel nods, obviously having discussed this with Minghao previously, "I can lend him some sneakers since I'm the only one with taste between the three of us."
"Whatever sneakerhead," Minghao laughs, turning to clap when he sees Jungkook checking himself out in the sweats outfit. "Looks good. The girls are going to die."
Jungkook can feel his eyes widen marginally. Girls, right, that was the normal thing. He was doing this for the girls. And the gays, his mind supplies quickly. Well, maybe only the latter, Jungkook corrects in his head as he puts his hands in the pockets of the sweatpants and turns around to give Minghao the full view.
Daniel pushes a pair of chunky black Nikes into Jungkook's chest as he looks him over, "I don't own anything Puma, so you'll have to put up with mixing brands." He waits until Jungkook grips the shoes to turn away, putting his boots away in his closet in their designated box as he goes about pulling his jacket off to hang back up.
Jungkook eyes the bulky Nikes. Would he even be able to walk in them? They felt heavy compared to his usual shoes. With a shrug, he sits on the edge of his bed and slides his feet into them; panicking when he feels a piece of cardboard above his toes. "Uh, Dan, what's in the shoe?"
"Cardboard," he shrugs and sits on Minghao's bed, "Keeps the shoes from creasing."
"They're meant to be worn," Minghao rolls his eyes, "What is with you and creases in your shoes?"
"The same as you and stains."
"That's different," Minghao argues, hands flying around him, "You know that's different. One affects whether they're wearable or not while the other is just a part of owning a pair of shoes." The boy rounds on Jungkook as he sits there quietly, just watching them. "Gguk, what would make something unwearable to you? Stains or creases?"
"Neither," he admits shyly, "I have a pair of jeans back home with grass stains from when some kid pushed me down the last stairs at school and it tore out one knee and stained the other knee forever green. I still wear those sometimes."
Daniel laughs, "Damn, dude, throw them away."
"Seriously," Minghao agrees, "I'm surprised your mom lets you wear them still."
"Only around the house," Jungkook frowns.
The boys laugh right up until Yugyeom and Bambam appear at their doorway. Jungkook sighs and closes the door behind himself as he looks over his two friends. Yugyeom has always been similar to him when it comes to color choices, which explains his black joggers and oversized peach shirt he has loosely tucked in at the front. Next to him Bambam always looks like he walked out of a fashion magazine. Jungkook was sure, without asking, that everything from the silk shirt to the dress pants clinging to the boy's skinny hips and long legs was designer. "So," he starts hesitantly, "Are we ready?"
Yugyeom nods, but elbows Bambam, "I cannot believe you wouldn't let me wear my sweats. Jungkook is wearing sweats."
"His sweats are also worth looking at," Bambam sighs. "Yours were from the university store. No one wants to see those."
"They have sweats at the university store?"
"Not you too, Kook," Bambam frowns. "I had hope for you."
Cheongdam-dong, or C building as freshmen called it, was much like how Jungkook originally remembered the first party he went to. Students have overflowed from the confines of C building into the street as they had at Jungkook's first party, but unlike how he was scared to approach those students, now he freely walked forward. It was Yugyeom, between the three of them, who seemed to need encouragement as they made their way inside Cheongdam-dong. Bambam took the lead in bringing his friend in as they entered the steaming house full of loud beats and intoxicated students.
Jungkook has his hands buried in the deep pockets of the sweats he's wearing, eyes on the people around him so he doesn't accidentally bump into someone. He could probably pay Minghao back for his outfit, but paying back Daniel for his kicks? He doubted it was possible. He's only been inside the area where the DJ equipment has been set up for a few moments when he finds Taehyung sitting around their same table. He detaches from his friends to make his way over to the RA, pushing himself down between him and Yoongi.
Taehyung grabs his waist, correcting his position to sit on his lap instead as he wraps his arms around the freshman's waist. He laughs, feeling a bit awkward as he nods towards Yoongi, "Hey man, it's good to see you again."
Yoongi nods, lips wrapped around an unlit cigarette. He was almost as good as new, compared to the last time Jungkook had seen him. The quiet blonde may have had a run-in with the jerk that had injured him the first time Jungkook had met him, but he hoped that was not the case. Yoongi rolls the cig to the side of his lips, "How's your first semester been? You seem like you've been adjusting."
Jungkook nods, resting his hands on his knees as he adjusts himself on Taehyung's lap; still confused as to why the RA didn't let him sit on the couch. "It's been ok. I'm working on my project a little every day since it's a big part of my grade."
Taehyung's chin bears down on JK's back, "Did you pick a theme yet?"
"Kind of," Jungkook shakes his head side to side.
"Let me know if you need help," Tae grins, "I have a good eye for angles and direction. Yoongi wouldn't mind helping you with a backtrack."
Jungkook looks at Yoongi then, "You're a music major?"
"I'm technically already producing music," the blonde explains, "I just want to finish my degree."
The freshmen now sees the blonde in a new light. He had no idea that his clan was so talented. Tae with art, Jimin with dance, and Yoongi with music. Had he struck gold unknowingly?
"Shit, let me up," Taehyung forces out as he pushes Jungkook up off his lap.
JK's eyes follow after the RA, watching as he pushes himself to the front of a circle of students hollering. It's probably a fight of some kind, Jungkook decides, having seen many circles like it back when he was in high school. He stands there for a moment, watching the fray. Yoongi taps his hand, earning his eyes once again.
"You should take your friends and go," he looks over his shoulder to the circle of students briefly, "It's getting kind of rowdy. The campus police are going to be here soon."
He offers his hand to the blonde, "You coming with me?"
Yoongi laughs, pulling the soggy cigarette from his lips, "I have to go pull Tae and Jimin before they get themselves in trouble. Don't worry about me."
Jungkook drops his hand and immediately starts searching for Yugyeom and Bambam. It should have worried him more that he hadn't seen either of them since he sat down with Taehyung. It's with measured steps that he makes his way for the circle of students, some of them falling away as it's broken up from the inside. He can hear Taehyung's deep voice yelling at someone to stop. As he makes it to the front, JK feels a hard frown set on his face. Taehyung has Jimin pulled back against a wall, his arms under than dancer's as he keeps him from trying to attack the other side of the circle again.
Jimin looks furious, eyes able to set someone aflame if he puts oil to them as he huffs and struggles against Taehyung's arms. Despite his anger, Jungkook finds him just as attractive as he did the first day he saw him. His hair is a mess, given his situation, but Jungkook can make out a section that's a pretty blue color that matches the contacts he wears. He's wearing a black dress shirt and pants. There seems to be something wrapped around his waist that makes his small waist look even thinner. He shakes himself and looks at the other half of the circle and his mouth drops.
Jungkook moves forward before he can stop his feet, "Gyeomie, what happened?"
Yugyeom isn't looking anywhere near as Jungkook had left him at the door of C building. His cheeks are scraped, his left side is even bleeding. His bottom lip is busted and Bambam has made himself a physical barrier between the two sides of the circle.
"An accident," Yugyeom manages, his eyes glancing at Jimin before he looks at Jungkook, "It's not a big deal."
Jungkook grabs for his friend's hand, turning to pull them both from the middle. "Let's go, Bam!" he shouts over his shoulder.
Jimin huffs and throws Taehyung's arms off of him as soon as Jungkook is out of sight. He doesn't stick around long after that, thoroughly embarrassed with his actions once more as he leaves Cheongdam-dong at a run. Tae catches up with him at the corner by Itaewon, pulling him back before he can enter.
"What is going on with you lately, Ji?" his arm stays on Jimin's shoulder as if he would run away still, "Why are you fighting with freshmen? Jungkook's friends of all freshmen?"
"It was an accident," Jimin mimics JK's friend, "A misunderstanding."
"Like hell, it was," his best friend growls, "Tell me the truth. You've been acting weird since we handed out room assignments to all the freshmen."
Jimin frowns. It's not that he didn't agree he had been acting weird lately, he just doesn't think it had been since the first time he had met Jungkook. "I need a break," he settles on, pulling his shoulder from Tae's hand. "I'm gonna go to the practice rooms. Don't wait up for me, I'll probably be there all night."
"Ji!"
Jimin ignores Tae's calls as he turns and walks away. He didn't want to think about what had just happened and he definitely didn't want to talk about it. Jungkook making friends of his own had been a good addition to the freshmen's university life but the one, in particular, Gyeomie (Jimin rolls his eyes at the name) didn't have to hang all over him for no reason. Every time Jimin would see them hanging out lately, that tall film major would be laying in Jungkook's lap while he tried to work. Tae's NFF, being the nice kid Jimin had always known him as, would never say anything even if it bothered him.
He just wanted to tell the lanky kid to give Jungkook some space.
That was all.
Jungkook is leaning back on one of the uncomfortable plastic chairs in the clinic, legs spread and head hanging over the back. The nurse had assured him that Yugyeom's injuries were mostly superficial and that he was lucky he stepped in and stopped the fight so his friend hadn't been more injured. He wasn't sure if he agreed with her thoughts. If he had actually seen Jimin and Yugyeom fighting, would he have taken Gyeom's side as he had or would he have flocked to Jimin's side? It wasn't really about who was at fault, he had wanted to approach Jimin first before he had even realized it was Yugyeom on the receiving end. Only good sense had him turning and going to Yugyeom's side first.
Something hits the toe of his shoe, it has him sitting up quickly to find Yugyeom standing there looking like a mummy instead of his usual self. Gyeom's cheeks are covered in bandages, his lip has a butterfly tape on it, but he still smiles as he looks down at Jungkook.
"We should go," he offers, "Curfew is soon."
Jungkook stands and grabs Yugyeom's hand again to pull him forward. Being late for curfew didn't bother him anymore, but he wouldn't let his friend get in trouble for being late because of him.
Jungkook is laying face down on one of the few couches in the common room of his dorm building. His phone is to his ear as he listens to his mom talk about how excited she was for him to return back home during the upcoming winter holiday. Even his father seemed to have melted a little on his dislike of Jungkook's chosen major as he told Jungkook he already had a project for them to do together when he got back home. It has a smile on his lips as he listens to the two without needing to actually voice anything himself. They were far too used to holding and moving the entirety of the conversation themselves since he was very young and he was grateful since he didn't have much to talk about in regards to university life.
He can feel a weight on his legs when his mom goes into the third renewal of her excitement on his returning home for the holidays. Jungkook can still not help the smile on his lips as he finally speaks, "I cannot wait to see you as well, mom. I have to get to class soon, well, I shouldn't say class. I have a study session with some kids from my major soon. I'll call you next week, okay?"
Her happiness doesn't wane, even despite his constant lies; but she didn't know they were lies. Jungkook hits the red phone on the screen to end his call as he looks over his shoulder at the person sitting on top of him. He is surprised to find Jimin sitting there, an awkward smile on his lips as he sits up enough to let Jungkook pull his legs from under Jimin's thighs. The freshman faces his RA, rubbing his nose for a second before he's brave enough to ask. "Did I break a common room rule?"
Jimin shakes his head, "No."
Jungkook leans forward as if waiting for him to further his answer, but the RA doesn't.
"I'm actually here as a favor for a friend."
JK waves his hand as if to let the other boy know he could continue.
"Uhm, my friend Hoseok is a hip-hop major. He had actually asked me this over a month ago, but I had gotten Tae to help him at that time."
"O..kay?"
Jimin laughs, "He needs someone to record his dance practice so he can monitor if he needs to make any changes to his choreography. He does better when someone moves with the choreo than a stationary camera."
Jungkook's mind is already bringing up the new camera he had recently bought with money he had been saving up for a while. Instead of buying new clothes, which is what the money was for, he had been putting it away to buy a Nikon. He even had a stabilizer for action shots like Jimin was talking about and wouldn't mind using this Hoseok as his test subject.
"I would owe you a favor," Jimin offers, squeezing his thighs, "Maybe a get out of jail free card for when you miss curfew again?"
He licks his lips at the suggestion - he didn't want that. Jungkook had made it his personal mission to always be back before curfew now unless it was Sunday and curfew didn't apply. He pouts and leans towards the RA, "Can I ask for something else?"
Jimin raises a brow, "What does JK want?"
Jungkook shifts to where his arm lays behind Jimin, drawing closer to the dance major as he breathes slowly while staring at his pretty plump lips. His hand ghosts over the huge tear in Jimin's jeans over his thigh before his eyes move up from the RA's lips. He leans forward, a small smirk playing on his lips when he feels Jimin shift, "I'll let you know."
He had whispered it into Jimin's ear before he pulled away completely, lifting himself from the couch to look down at his phone; ignoring the way the RA shudders. When JK does look at the RA, he's recovered some - or enough - as he grins down at him.
"I really do have somewhere to be, but let Hoseok know I'll help him." He nods, turning only to pause and look back at Jimin, "You'll need my number to pass along to him."
Jimin's lips part as if recognizing his misstep. He pulls out a slim silver Samsung and hands it over to Jungkook easily. He watches as Jungkook's fingers fly over the screen of his phone, a smile in place as he hands the phone back over. It's open on Jungkook's entry, saved under JK and he smiles. The only ones who had called him JK were Tae and him. All of his new friends called him Gguk or Jungkook, so the name held a soft spot in Jimin's heart.
"I might respond a little slow since my friends are pretty active texters, but I will reply."
Jimin nods, sliding his phone back into his jacket, "Go study."
"See you."

[📰] P1Harmony May Be New to K-Pop, But They're Beauty Experts
By Devon Abelman
"Pots-and-pans music" is what Keeho, the leader of P1Harmony, lovingly calls the K-pop group's songs. They're loud, explosive, and essentially caffeine mainlined through your eardrums — all in the best way possible, of course.
"Because our music is so strong, we try to portray that in our hair and makeup as well," Keeho continues. "For me, my hair is all slicked back for our new song, 'Scared,' and our makeup is a lot darker than [for our debut single,] 'Siren.'"
In fact, Jongseob, P1Harmony's youngest member, adds their strikingly different hair colors, like Theo's whimsical light pink, Intak's sleek jet black, and Keeho's enigmatic navy blue, balance each other out and express the range of emotions portrayed in their lyrics and melodies.
But this is just a basic overview of P1Harmony and the intense aesthetic they've been building for the past six months since debuting in October 2020. In advance of the release of their new EP, Disharmony: Break Out, today, April 20, I sat down with the rookie K-pop group via Zoom to get a deeper look at each member, their individual relationships to beauty, and how they are choosing to present themselves now that they are on the world's stage.
Keeho
When I ask Keeho which P1Harmony song fits his personality best, he replies, "You can't really fit me in a box like that. There are various characters I can be." The 19-year-old from Canada even wears many hats throughout our interview. Not only is Keeho the group's official leader, but he's also their unofficial translator, color commentator, and storyteller — he truly has an aside or anecdote to share about everything.
The first tale Keeho tells dates back to second grade, when he begged his mom to let him get blonde streaks in his hair. "I was that kid in class," he remarks.
Then, Keeho delves into how his family introduced him to the wonders of beauty growing up. His mom, in particular, made him "do a five-, six-step skin-care routine," he recalls. Every morning before school, he'd splash his face with warm water ("must be warm water, so you open up the pores") and wash up with cleansing foam. Then, he'd rinse it off with cold water ("so you close them"). Although this isn't scientifically true, I'm glad this worked for him.
When layering on his serums and creams, "the first one you need to do is the most liquidy one and the last one you need to do is the one that is not liquidy at all," Keeho recalls his mom instructing him — a fact I confirm for him. Also, she'd tell him to never rub his skin-care products on, only pat.
Last but not least, Keeho would (and still does) reach for sunscreen — "always sunscreen," he emphasizes. "My mom said, 'If you don't put it on, you're going to age like a raisin.'"
Keeho's older sister, on the other hand, brought him into the world of makeup by employing him as her guinea pig for testing out new looks. "I would let my sister put makeup on me all the time," Keeho says, mentioning Halloween as a common occasion for her artistry. They even playfully filmed YouTube beauty tutorials and challenges together.
One aspect of beauty Keeho has yet to try is a manicure, but he's ready to dive into that realm. "I think it would be fun," he says. A$AP Rocky's eye nail art that he showed off front row at Prada back in October 2019 is Keeho's major inspiration.
Intak
Another unofficial title Keeho has taken on within P1Harmony is hairstylist. Intak, the group's 17-year-old charismatic rapper and star dancer, credits him for his hair-care routine. "I learned how to use hair serum to volumize my hair when I go out," Intak says. Keeho goes on to explain that they both have incredibly dry hair, so he recommended his favorite moisturizing products to Intak and told him to rake them through his hair while it's still wet and only slightly towel-dried. Intak was so pleased with the result that he went out and bought the same products that day.
Although he has kept his hair black throughout his career so far, Intak is quick to share he's very experimental with beauty. For performances in the past, he's adorned his eyes with bloody scratch-like liner and ultra-sooty smoky eyes. Plus, you're about to see some cheek art on him and dramatically flushed cheeks.
Unlike Keeho, Intak didn't get into skin care until after debuting. "I've started visiting the dermatologist frequently," he says. "They gave me a set [of products] that includes [everything I need]." His favorite is a mask infused with avocado and peppermint, like the Tonymoly I'm Real Avocado Mask Sheet or Skinfood's Pear Mint Food Mask, which quenches his dehydrated skin.
Jiung
Spoken like a true Libra, Jiung is the first to mention he enjoys expressing himself through beauty and fashion. "[They are] really important things," the 19-year-old explains in English. "I always try to learn how to express myself that way. So the more I know, the more I can do."
However, when I ask Jiung what kinds of looks he feels the most confident in, he laughs before taking time to think about it. (In the meantime, Keeho shares he knows what he, personally, is least confident in: T-shirts, due to his long arms.) "This is hard," Jiung groans. I must say his short honey-blonde hair — a look he's always been curious about trying — is definitely bringing out a particularly magnetic side of him, as seen in the P-side track video for "If You Call Me."
When he was younger, Jiung dabbled in all different kinds of haircuts, colors, and perms, he lists off. The latter of which he looks forward to trying out again now as a K-pop star.
When the members were just trainees, Keeho helps Jiung recount a time when he wanted to fill in his eyebrows. "He did not how to do it at all," Keeho says. "He got a Sharpie and started coloring in his eyebrows. It was devastating, to say the least, for the people who had to see it."
"It was art," Jiung interjects. Now, he proudly declares he has a proper brow powder.
Theo
Theo, P1Harmony's straightforward vocalist, is admittedly a sneakerhead. He strictly wears Jordans, according to Keeho's translation. Air Jordan 1s are Theo's favorite style, but he can't pick a color that he's the biggest fan of. He can tell you what he feels least confident in, though: shorts and short-sleeved shirts. So if you barely see Theo in summery clothes, now you know why. (However, he doesn't offer up an exact explanation.)
Since elementary school, the now-19-year-old has permed and colored his hair every shade of ROYGBIV, including red, gray, and even blue for one summer break — all thanks to his mom, who is a hairstylist. This is a revelation even many of the other members weren't privy to, much to the chagrin of Keeho. "It's annoying me right now because his hair is healthy," he remarks. "My hair looks like a broom."
Knowing his hair is healthy comes as a shock to me, though, as Theo has gone from white-blonde to rosy-pink over the past six months. (Let's be real, that's a transformation few people's hair can handle.) He's also been able to grow out hair; it falls past his eyebrows and is starting to graze his shoulders in the back.
Honestly, Theo is ready for it to be short again, he shares. "I like my long hair, but I don't like it being in my face," he asserts. "I can't really maintain it. I bleached it so much that it flips in all different directions."
Soul
Before our interview officially started, the members and I exchanged weird facts about ourselves to get to know each other better beyond our beauty routines. Keeho revealed his left eyebrow has been twitching lately, and he needs to cuddle a body pillow to fall asleep. Intak has a freckle on his finger that his grandma often mistakes for dirt and tries to wipe off. Jiung had pet geckos, scorpions, and tarantulas growing up. Jongseob loves mint chocolate. Theo can't burp, and Soul enjoys petting insects.
But that's not the weirdest thing about him or any of the members. The strangest thing about the boys is that "Soul doesn't do anything at all [for his skin-care routine], and his skin is actually pretty good," Keeho says. (You can scroll through Soul's selfies on P1Harmony's Twitter to confirm this, but spoiler: His complexion is immaculate.)
Soul, 16, goes on to explain that his skin is incredibly dry and sensitive, so much so that even cleansing makes his face turn red and any bit of friction causes bumps to form. Needless to say, he's scared to put anything on his face. "I just do cleansing foam and leave it at that," Soul admits. Makeup isn't off the table, though. Soul is no stranger to subtle washes of pink shadow on his lids and fake eyebrow piercings made out of silver studs.
Although Soul is seemingly one of the shyest members and keeps to himself for most of the interview, he's an intense rockstar at heart. He favors P1Harmony's more aggressive, hard-hitting songs, like their new title song, "Scared."
Raise your hand if you'd like to see Soul with thick, black kohl or graphic blue liner and long, raven hair, perhaps paired with a studded leather jacket over a ripped-up T-shirt. OK, great; I'm not the only one. For now, we'll have to appreciate his bob-length ashy-blonde hair.
Jongseob
Other than his nuggets of knowledge about the way P1Harmony reflects their music in their hair and makeup, Jongseob mostly listens throughout the interview. Luckily, the 15-year-old rapper/songwriter did pipe up to share his skin-care routine.
First, Jongseob double-cleanses to remove his makeup, starting with cleansing oil and following up with a foam cleanser. Serum is slathered on next, then moisturizer. When his skin is feeling especially dry, Jongseob layers a gel cream on top as a sleeping mask — a tactic I'd never considered before. Typically, I reach for them in reverse order.
Jongseob's hair has also been through the wringer since P1Harmony's debut. Last October, he colored his hair lilac and gradually went darker shades of purple until it was an electric violet hue. Most recently, though, his dye job has been a fiery orange. Next, Jongseob says he wants to try gray with an ash tone.
And this is just the beginning of P1Harmony's journey through the mystical world of K-pop beauty. This time next year, they're sure to have experimented with even bolder, brighter, and more eccentric looks. For now, you can check out a teaser for their brand-new music video for "Scared" of their latest EP, Disharmony: Break Out, below.

Hi~So can I pls get a matchup?I'm a straight and tall (6ft) & curvy girl. I have light brown skin, brown eyes & I recently cut my big afro into a buzzcut & dyed it ash blonde. Personality wise I'm a INTJ-T, so yeah I'm really quiet & have trouble opening up to people, which I have been told makes me seem cold & like I hate people. But once you get to know me, I'm a completely different person. I joke around make sarcastic remarks & love hanging around with my friends. Part 1/2 😇
(cont: 😇 I'm like the mom of the group, I'm caring, patient and mature. I don't like affection, but I can get used to it if I trust the person I'm with and then I can also be affectionate to the person. Hobbies: cooking, doing my makeup, working out to stay fit. I'm a big sneakerhead and really into streetstyle and love trying new outfits at home, painting on old clothes & dressing up at home. Thanks a lot for doing this, I really love your blog, luv ya 😘)
I’m glad that you’ve been enjoying your time here, darling ;-;
I ship you with . . .
Miya Osamu
oh my god look how fucking fine this man is wtf who told him he could look like that?
Osamu is obsessed with your sarcasm. It’s actually what made him interested in you. He finds that witty humor hilarious and he literally just wanted more of it.
He honestly doesn’t mind that you’re quiet?? If anything, it’s more of a relief. He spends so much time with Atsumu talking his damn ear off that you’re a really nice change of pace.
Atsumu roast party? Atsumu roast party.
You two could just be chilling on the couch and Atsumu could say one (1) word and you both are making sassy quips that leave ‘mu just standing there like-
“i just asked if you’ve seen my sneakers?”
Not gonna lie? I don’t see Osamu as someone who is super big into physical affection, so the fact that you aren’t either is just a bonus for him.
His love language is more of a giving dynamic? He pays attention to the things you like and he’ll surprise you with little things every now and then, like a new pair of sneakers (or maybe just a cool pair of laces), a new eye shadow palette, or a cool shirt that he thought you might vibe with.
Osamu packs you bentos, bye ✋😔
Oh you thought you were going to eat the lunch you brought? N O. He made you a lunch with your favorites and he’s probably going to be a little grumbly if you don’t eat the one he made for you
You two have little cooking competitions kinda like Chopped, where you’ll grab random ingredients from the pantry and see who can make the best dish. It’s super fun and really kinda lame, but ooooh does shit get heated fast
He’s hella competitive so bold of you to assume that he’s going to go easy on you just because you’re his girlfriend.
Oml please do his make-up ;-; he will fight you to the ends of the earth about it, but he will eventually give in, because you really do have this man wrapped around your finger
TL;DR put him in teal eye shadow with eyeliner sharp enough to kill. He’ll hate you for it, but the pictures will be worth the death glare he’s serving. but no he’s a pretty 10/10 boyfriend and his relationship dynamic with you is very chill and hi can i have it thx
#shittys 750 special#match ups#why is he so hot?#i have never been more in love with osamu than in this current moment#why is inarizaki hitting so hard#wtf#first mu#then kita#now osamu?#why am i like this 😭

Characters + Fashion
Augustus Marshall
Especially recently, Gus's personal style has become very business casual; Turtlenecks, short-sleeved collared shirts, V-neck sweaters, fitted jackets, that kind of thing
Brands he's partial to include Armani, Musika Frére, and Louis Vuitton, but he tries to stay up to date on black-owned luxury menswear lines in general so he can try them out too
He actually visits a tailor when he buys new clothes now, to make sure they fit right
When he's dressing more casually, it's crewneck sweaters (Supreme, because he's kinda basic that way), designer t-shirts, sunglasses, basketball shorts, sweatpants, jeans, snapbacks for various New York sports teams
Not super into jewelry, but he wears his wedding ring everywhere, a silver Catholic cross on a chain, and maybe a watch depending on the outfit
He's prone to the occasional weird fashion choice (the Drake robe, for example, and he tried to pull off lensless glasses one time but it didn't take), but for the most part, he's got a fairly sedate fashion sense
He likes pastels more than blacks and greys, and he's partial to colors like maroon or navy blue against crisp white dress shirts
Usually wears his hair in a buzzcut, but grew it out specifically for the wedding and he's kept it since. Gets his hair cut every month or so to keep it right.
Jason Cuoco
Jason buys his clothes at Walmart because they're inexpensive and generally last him a while
Jeans and t-shirts primarily, during his days off. Occasionally hoodies. Probably more flannels during the winter, too.
Owns two leather jackets: One that's brown, and one that's black. He prefers the black one.
Three pairs of shoes: A pair of beat up running shoes he's had since college, that he works out in, a pair of steeltoes he always just walks around in, and a pair of dress shoes for work.
At work, he'll wear the standard black jacket and slacks with a white dress shirt, but he almost always refuses to wear ties and keeps the top two buttons undone "so I can breathe."
The knife in his boot (or jacket) and the gun holster he keeps strapped on are pretty much fashion staples.
Wears his hair short, typically combed when he has work or messy if he doesn't
Selene Cuoco
Fond of nude lipsticks, earthy shades of brown and green, and the color purple
Probably a bit of a sneakerhead, she's got a whole collection in her closet
Fond of high heels, short shorts, skirts, and basically anything that emphasizes her legs
Day-to-day casual wear includes an oversized t-shirt worn over black leggings and a pair of high tops
Used to straighten her hair a lot, in high school, but preferred it in dreads when she wore it long in college, or just wore it natural
Much like her mom, sometimes she likes to play around with different hair colors, depending on her mood and aesthetic at the time
She's a casual New York Jets fan entirely because she's from New York and looks better in green than blue (like her mom's Cowboys or the Giants) or orange (like her dad's Dolphins)

How Sneaker Collabs Became the Ultimate Chef Flex
Check out those croissants on Dominique Ansel’s Koio sneakers. Photo: Koio.
Restaurant merch is the new band tee: You show your New York bona fides with your long-sleeved Nom Wah Tea Parlor shirt. Spend enough on latkes and vodka at Sammy’s Roumanian and a “free” shirt will follow. Roberta’s has built an entire second revenue stream out of hoodies, hats, and, uh, lifeguard shorts. But anyone can print their logo on a T-shirt. For more chefs and restaurateurs, the ultimate fashion collaboration isn’t a walking fabric billboard. It’s a pair of custom-branded sneakers: Limited-edition Air Force 1s or Boosts announce that you’ve made it, like a cookbook, but fire.
“It’s a way we make a statement. We’re in uniform, and it’s the one thing you can wear that can go under the radar,’” says Michael “Mikey” Cole, who runs the Manhattan ice cream shop Mikey Likes It and has collaborated with Ewing Athletics on two sneakers (each $150). “Like, you wear black-on-black Jordans or Yeezys, no one notices, but some kid might be like, ‘Oh my God, mom, look at those sneakers.’ That’s our only way of being fresh.”
Sneakerheads are, of course, one of the fashion world’s most obsessive subcultures, one that is built on a foundation of exclusivity, onetime releases, and rare, limited-edition collabs that become instant status symbols. Resale sites like StockX, Grailed, Flight Club, and Sole Supremacy have created a marketplace that’s worth $6 billion, according to StockX. Chefs and cooks are just as likely as anyone to covet a pair of Nike Mars Yard 2.0, but the true grail is to collab with a brand to make a sneaker specifically for you or your restaurant.
“You get those Nike Momofukus?”
Today, in fact, the chef sneaker-verse will expand with not one but two more culinary collaborations: limited-edition Koio sneakers that honor New York’s Cronut king, Dominique Ansel, that feature shiny, golden croissant clasps on the laces. Ansel says that the $348 croissneakers are meant to “reflect my work, the world of baking.” The kicks feature “flour white” suede and two types of leather meant to evoke crystallized sugar and butter. They are also firmly rooted in the dadcore aesthetic that has taken over the sneaker world in recent years.
The other collab debuting today takes cues from another continent: It’s a joint project between the nearly century-old brand Feiyue — the Shanghai company whose low-cut white sneakers are a summer staple around the world — Brooklyn’s Hickies, and Manhattan restaurant MáLà Project. Sold online only on Feiyue and MáLà Project’s websites, the $88 “Flying Pigs” honor the year of the pig, are branded with the restaurant’s signature orange color on the pull tab, and arrive in a crisp shade of white.
MáLà Project owner Amelie Kang first encountered Feiyue when she went home to Beijing for the Chinese New Year. Smitten with their comfort (the shoes have been popular for martial arts since they were first sold), she bought several pairs and then discovered her mom and aunt used to wear them all the time. “I thought it might fun for us to collab,” she explains. “We don’t think of ourselves as restaurant — we more consider it a project. We work on things that seem interesting to us, maybe entirely out of fun.”
Ansel and Kang’s sneakers are just the latest example of the chef sneaker explosion. In 2011, MOZO Shoes collaborated with chefs like Marcus Samuelsson and San Francisco’s Chris Cosentino on a line of $70 shoes designed for kitchen work. In 2014, Nike SB (the company’s skating line) worked with food personality Eddie Huang on a pair of limited-release sneakers named after his restaurant Baohaus’s mascot, Chairman Bao. In 2015, Vans collaborated with the New York chef Tyler Kord on his No. 7 Vans Classic Slip-On and has since introduced shoes with Jon Snook and Vinny Dotolo, the chef duo vying to be the kings of Los Angeles; Cosentino, a skateboarder; and two more ($80 to $90) with Hedley & Bennett. Later in 2016, Adidas joined the fray with a pair of $200 sneakers with Huang (black with a silver metal toe), as did Fila, which released limited-edition maroon Cage sneakers for the restaurant Sweet Chick that are branded on the tongue and feature lace medallions with the words “chicken” and “waffles.”

Sometimes, the collabs are just for fun. Other times they play up functionality in the kitchen: In 2016, Los Angeles’ Keep Company collabed with Alvin Cailan on the $65 Shaheen Gourmand, billing the sneaker as “the ultimate non-slip kitchen shoe … tested by real chefs and real crews.”
But more than anything, custom sneakers are about status. Any restaurant can sell its own shirt, but a sneaker establishes credibility, because it means you’re a big enough deal to actually work with the likes of Nike or Adidas. Certainly, David Chang felt as much when, in 2017, Nike SB debuted Dunk High Pros featuring Momofuku’s signature peach logo. Dozens of people lined up hours ahead of time to buy the extremely limited shoes. It was a win for everyone, especially the chef, who may not have been on some hypebeast’s radars before the shoe was released.
“I think our generation, we’re all sneakerheads,” says the chef JJ Johnson. “Then we kind of stopped — I’ve started again in the last five years.” Johnson has received plenty of accolades throughout his career (Esquire named Johnson’s first restaurant, the Cecil, its best of the year in 2014, and his cookbook Between Harlem and Heaven just won a James Beard Award), but he talks about getting a sneaker collaboration like it’s a trophy he still craves. Nothing is in the works, yet, but Johnson says he’s dropped hints in the ears of friends who work at Nike and Jordan brand. After all, anyone can sell a T-shirt, but a pair of neon-pink JJ Jordans would be real fire.

Corey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today? I am from Los Angeles, CA by way of Sacramento, CA. My Story begins with skateboarding. It has always been a huge part of my life. Coming up, it was all I cared about at one point. I devoted all of my time to it. Early on a lot of my friends were progressing really fast and starting to get sponsored and I thought it was the craziest thing that you could make a living off of being a skateboarder. Coming from where I come from (Leimert Park) there wasn’t many of us back then that were black and skated. I vividly remember other kids calling me and my friends “white boys” because we skated. We would catch like 2-3 buses to get out of the neighborhood and hit Venice beach to skate the park because there wasn’t one near us at the time.
Off of my skateboard, I was always into sneakers. I always felt like sneakers and clothing went hand and hand. Through online forums like NSB.org, Hypebeast and Niketalk I discovered a handful of streetwear brands. I instantly fell in love with The Hundreds and Diamond Supply Co. I would frequently message the owner of Diamond Supply Co. Nick Tershay on myspace. I would tell him how much I wanted to skate for his company one day, and just let him know how big a fan of the brand I was! He was actually really cool and always replied and connected me with the skate team manager Sean Apgar. I always resonated well with Nick because I related with his background of how he came from nothing and was a skateboarder/sneakerhead and he was making a name for himself through these things. Fast forward a couple years later I was helping my friend in San Francisco Anthony Schlander promote his 18+ clubs and through a host he had booked a couple of times(who is now a good friend) Ben Baller, I got to actually meet Nick in person. Ben asked me what my favorite clothing brand was and I told him I loved Diamond. He said no problem he would have Nick come out next week. Nick ended up coming and he actually remembered me from talking to him on myspace! We exchanged numbers and I would hit him up every time I visited LA.
As my friends excelled more at skateboarding, I didn’t as much. I kind of gave up the dream of being a pro skateboarder and became more infatuated by the idea of starting my own brand one day. I went to a semester at the local city college and I did not like it all. I convinced my mom to help me enroll in Art school for graphic design down in LA. At first, I thought it was going to be everything I had ever dreamed of! I thought I’d get to learn all the programs to make graphics for my own company one day, but it ended up being lots of book work and not really hands on with a computer at all. I’d find myself ditching class frequently and going to hang out on Fairfax. I’d go visit the Diamond offices while I was there and one day I just started picking stuff up helping and kind of never left. They would let me help out at the office everyday shipping out orders and then when those guys would get off I would go hang out down at the store. Eventually, the same thing happened there, one day I just started picking up stuff helping out customers and never left. I stayed down for two years just interning which eventually turned into a full-time job.
I got to Fairfax at a good time because it was still like a hidden gem, it wasn’t as mainstream as it is today. It was awesome seeing Nick grow his business and him letting us grow with him. We watched him build a multi-million dollar brand (which was inspiring to say the least). He let us be the faces of the store and we got to connect with everyone that would come through there on a personal level, from customers to up and coming now a-list celebrities. As cliche and corny as it sounds that saying that goes “your network is your net worth” is very true. We were able to gain major personal relationships that have helped me on my journey to this day. This was around the time that Instagram and Twitter were blowing up and we would build massive followings just from being at the store and connecting with all these people. In between working at the store I was using youtube and learning from friends on how to use programs like illustrator and photoshop to make graphics. I started my first brand(idk if I would even call it a brand it was more of a project haha) Above Average. It was a lot of trial and error and more of a learning experience because it lacked structure but it taught me a lot.
After working at Diamond for 5/6 years, there wasn’t much room for growth and I became very stagnant working at the store. I decided to put in my two weeks and just go for it and figure out what was next! Dont get me wrong working there and being on Fairfax was probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I would go back and do it all again ten times over. I am forever grateful for Nick Tershay for giving me a chance and letting me work there, but I always knew I wanted more and to this day he still supports me and gives me props on my brand which I appreciate (one of my dream projects would be to collaborate with Diamond). My roomate at the time was doing production (manufacturing clothes) for a brand and would teach me stuff here and there (tech packs, POs, etc.). I eventually just started to do freelance production and graphics for different people and brands while running my project on the side.
I eventually ended up working for two companies (Hawkers Co & Alpina Division) which I applied my skills that I learned throughout the years to. Working for these two companies taught me one thing I was always lacking, which was structure. I can’t sit here and tell you that I know it all and still am learning day by day but if your business has no structure then it makes things that much harder. With help from Alpina Division I was able to start my latest brand (which I can actually call a brand) Circulate. I still do a lot of freelance work, but now my main focus is running Circulate. We are stocked in 10 boutiques shops around the globe and 85 Pacsun locations across the US as well as our e-commerce site. The road has not been easy especially with me doing pretty much everything (shipping, creative, sales, production and marketing) but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love being hands on.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome? Things have not been easy throughout any of this at all! When I was interning at Diamond I didn’t have a solid place to live but thank god one of my good friends and his mom let me crash on their couch for 2 years. I was determined to work at Diamond so I would show up everyday and work hard regardless of what was going on in my personal life and the end was very rewarding. That motivated me and still does to this day with anything I do because not everything will always be easy but if you stay true, work hard, and get the job done by any means the end result will more than likely be good. My biggest struggle through life has always been financially. Coming from not a rich family is sometimes some what hard but it makes you appreciate things more and work harder for what you want. One of the biggest struggles of starting a brand also is capital but there are ways around everything. If you find manufactures that will give you terms and keep your overhead low you can make things work. In this business you always have to remember that just because you think something is a great idea that will sell out thats not how it always works out, I want to say you have to build a fan base that trusts your ideas first.
Please tell us about Circulate. I came up with the name Circulate for a couple of different reasons. I like the idea of the life span of a clothing garment and how it can Circulate around from person to person. In example you could own a shirt forever and it becomes too small or you’re over it and you could pass it on to the next person and it kind of can just keeps cycling around. I also wanted each collection to have a theme or topic that would ‘Circulate’ around when you see people wearing the brand, thus sparking a feeling or conversation about the graphics. The thing that sets us apart from other new brands is we try to stray away from trends and stick to what we know. If I wouldn’t personally wear something I try not to make it because I want this brand to be as authentic as possible and a reflection of myself. I feel like when brands follow trends, they usually are in it for a quick buck and the brand doesn’t have any life or longevity. I would say the thing I’m most proud of thus far about our business is how much support we are getting in such a short time span. It’s really humbling to see people appreciate my ideas and spend their hard-earned money to keep us going. I am very thankful to be giving a platform to do what I love and people supporting it.
What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
As far as future plans right now we are just taking it day by day. Working on some cut&sew pieces for our latest drop. I feel like nowadays you kind of have to have a couple of things that aren’t just t-shirts and hoodies in your line. Kids are becoming a little bit more advanced and want to see more. We would love to collaborate with some of the brands that inspire us and our friends. I feel like thats who and what a collaboration should be with, brands and/or people you admire. I also want to do a Los Angeles pop up at some point. We did Complexcon earlier this year and it was awesome putting a face to our customers that shop online. So I definitely want to do something special here in LA. I feel like people want more from brands not just clothes but experiences are just as important.

Meet the Chicks with Kicks, Three Sisters Who’ve Collected Over 6,000 Pairs of Sneakers

If the term “sneaker collector” brings to mind sniffling teenage boy hypebeasts, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised that what may arguably be the largest sneaker collection in the world – over 6,000 pairs –is managed by a trio of three sisters from Boca Raton, Florida whose online avatars are the Powerpuff Girls. Ariana, Dakota, and Dresden Peters took over the collection from their father, who began collecting in the mid-1980s. Their Instagram account has over 100k followers and fans fawn over their basketball court filled with rare sneakers. In the last forty years, the collection has ballooned to over 6,000 pairs, but who knows if that’s an accurate number – the sisters have stopped counting. FASHION spoke with Ariana, 24, and Dakota, 18, from the office of their family-run real estate company, on how sneakers can be a form of art, what it’s like to pursue such a male-dominated hobby, and what their future plans are for the collection.
So how did your dad get into collecting sneakers in the first place?
He started collecting out of a love of sports. He played basketball and wore sneakers as a fashion statement and it spiraled from there. Let’s say there was a pair of Air Force 1s he wanted to wear. He always bought a second pair to store. Then one shoe turned into a thousand. That’s how it goes with our dad usually.

How did he entice you to take over the collection?
Growing up surrounded by sneakers, you grow a love for it yourself. Each week there was a new sneaker. Now [collecting sneakers] is very prevalent but back then he was sort of a rarity. It wasn’t like that back then. There were sneakers all over our house. My dad had a sneaker room because there were so many pairs. It was always an art form to him. So it became a hobby for all of us.
How can sneakers be a form of art?
There’s a lot of history in sneakers. Just as someone would buy a coveted art piece, there are certain coveted sneakers, like the 1985 Air Jordan 1s. That was the first year the Jordans were released, they were really like a revolution to the brand Jordan and the brand Nike. In that sense it is an art form, it’s very expressive. Whether you’re storing the sneakers as a collection, it’s an art form, and also fashion is in and of itself an art form. At SneakerCon and these events we go to, everyone is expressing themselves in different ways. You look at someone and see their sense of self.

Can you give me a sense of what you do collect vs. what you don’t collect?
We specialize in rare examples, players editions, promos, samples. What we don’t buy is the hype stuff nowadays. For example, a Yeezy or the Pharrell Human Race Adidas. That’s what’s very popular now. They do a limited release and then the prices skyrocket, even though the box price is $250 or $200. We don’t buy into that stuff because it’s essentially a fake market. We don’t knock it. We appreciate the style. It’s very cool. But it’s not something we collect.
How much money is invested in the collection?
Well we stopped counting at 6,000 pairs. We don’t have an accurate number. But we don’t really look at it like that. We’ve had people offer us insurmountable amounts of money for our collection, but it’s something that we still haven’t explored.
So people have tried to buy the whole collection from you?
When we first started our Instagram account, within a few weeks we had one of the largest collectors reach out to us and immediately say ‘I would love to fly down and buy your whole collection.’ Because he saw we were three girls and he thought we didn’t really know what we have. We get hundreds of people each week writing us, ‘Can I buy this pair? Do you have this pair?’ We’ve never sold a pair and we’re not selling anything until we open up our store, where we’ll put the whole collection for sale.
I was curious if you would eventually donate the collection to a museum, or pass it on in your family. So tell me more about the store you’re going to be opening?
Our main goal is to be able to have a one stop shop where everything you could imagine involving a sneaker would be at our store. If you want to buy sneakers, if you want to clean your sneakers etc. We took our time and purchased a building across from our real estate office. We’re going to have a 24-hour livestream of the store because it is also a museum; there are so many sneakers there that people have never seen before. Also the design of the store is very important to us. We’ve seen so many sneaker stores, we couldn’t even name the amount…

Do you have a favourite sneaker in the collection?
We love our 1982 Air Force One collection because we have the largest collection of that specific shoe in the world. It has so much history. We have the Sex and the City x Nike Presto, which is really cool.
What’s your take on the designer sneakers – like these chunky Balenciaga ones – that have come out recently? Would you ever collect designer sneakers?
We love the designer sneakers, but does it really fit into what we collect? No. But do we love them and wear them? Yes. Streetwear is so cool. We love it when streetwear becomes high fashion.

What was behind the decision to start your own clothing line, CWK Supply?
We travel to a lot of the sneaker shows and the kids that come to these shows, they want to leave with something. Sometimes you can’t leave with a $700 pair of sneakers so we thought, ‘Why not make some cool t-shirts?” Also, every [sneaker show] booth we saw was run by men so we wanted to have our own booth and figured we should probably sell something. The last two shows, we were the only females to have a booth.
Why you think sneaker culture is so male-dominated?
We don’t really think about it because our real estate business is also male-dominated, so we’re sort of used to it. A lot of women do love sneakers, but they’re just not out in the open about it because it is known to be male-dominated. So many people came up to at the sneaker shows and said, ‘We’re so happy to see girls have their own booth.’ Even a mom told us she wanted her daughters to have a booth and this will make her not as scared because there’s other girls doing it.
Most people are probably shocked when they hear you have 6,000 pair of shoes. What drives you to keep collecting sneakers?
It’s a part of our family. Some families collect coins, cards, stamps. This is something we were brought up with so we have such a passion for it now. It’s become a part of our every day life, we’re creating content around sneakers, sharing our collection. It’s something we can’t imagine not doing.
