Happy Smiler Creation Day!
The first date on my Valice(r) Calendar, the date that I first created a version of Smiler Always in Sims 4, and thus the general look for my OC Smiler Alton and all their various variants across the multiverse! Coincidentally, I’ve actually been doing some testing with Smilers in a couple of different “test saves” in the game recently, figuring out the best way to get a human Smiler Sim in case I want a version who isn’t a vampire for some reason, and making up some new outfits for them just for funsies. So I figured, might as well share all that with you today! :)
First up, the result of me putting Smiler into a save and then downloading a room from the Gallery which had the vampire cure drink in it, putting it on their lot, and having them drink it. What happened was, because their yellow eyes are a vampire-only feature in-game, even though I was using them on their “regular” form, they went away after they were cured. I decided I might as well take the opportunity to decide on their natural eye color, and this was the shade of green that spoke to me.
. . .if you think Smiler looks weird with a natural eye color, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. XD I dunno what it is, but it’s just -- OFF.
For reference, here’s a shot of a regular Smiler -- I think the difference is mainly that the yellow eyes I picked glow, so the sudden lack of extra shadows around them throws me. Fortunately, in a second “test save” (in which I just went ahead and created a full Valicer set for my library), I discovered that using MC Command Center to turn them human keeps their yellow eyes, so that’s almost certainly the method I’ll use for all future Smiler humanizings.
Onto the outfits! Here’s one I made for my “naturally cured” Smiler while looking for an outfit that might fit them for that Blades in the Dark-inspired AU I keep poking at (really need to do a proper post on that). I’m not QUITE sure it’s right yet, but I like that vest and its purple pocket square for Smiler!
Here’s a “classic” Smiler look that ended up getting deleted/overwritten in my Chill Save (I believe the “Smiler hoodie” outfit is now in its slot), so I wasn’t sure if you guys had seen it or not! Naturally, I tend to favor yellow with Smiler’s clothes, and I like the video game feel of this one, since it went well with The Smiler being so tech-themed.
I stumbled across this sweater/sweatshirt thing while doing outfits for my MC Command Center Cured Smiler and immediately liked it -- can’t go wrong with yellow and black! As this was just a “hanging around the house being comfy” look, I paired it with the purple pajama pants and some yellow slippers. :p
Another yellow-and-black sweater that I liked while poking around the various outfit categories, and some very wild pants that I thought they’d enjoy. Part of the fun of dressing Smiler is knowing they don’t particularly care about getting too matchy. XD Though I don’t think this particular combo is too horrible.
I found this shiny formal outfit and HAD to get it for them. XD I just like the dramatic contrast between the shimmery yellow jacket and the pitch-black pants. XD Gave Smiler some dramatic eye makeup to go with it too!
Some Vampires clothes that make for another good formal outfit -- I really like that purple vest (and hey, I just noticed it has a yellow tie!), and the pants with the faded yellow pattern are great. :D And still got the dramatic eye makeup going with it!
Probably Smiler’s most “normal” outfit, this was out of a desire to use those purple PJ pants for actual PJs and actually go with a solid purple theme for once instead of mixing it with yellow. I like it a lot. . .which makes sense because these actually look a lot like some of my OWN pajamas. XD
The return of the yellow vest, this time paired with yellow pants and brownish-yellow sneakers! The idea was that this was for a party that wasn’t exactly FORMAL but also wasn’t full casual. Think the pants are a bit muddy in the color, but it’ll do.
Again, a shiny formal outfit in yellow with a black shirt was a must-get. XD Smiler will sparkle at any given opportunity, thank you. Paired with a nice top hat and some black -- sneakers? Obviously they haven’t full committed to formal with this one. XD
A Smiler to illustrate my Christmas headcanon about them loving ugly sweaters and Christmas tat! I actually had my choice of ugly sweaters between the free “holiday” pack and Seasons, but I ended up going with this freezer-bunny-themed one because it was the right color scheme. XD Pair with a different set of PJ pants, slippers, and a knit Rudolph hat, and Smiler is ready to celebrate the season!
And finally, a quick shot from my Chill Save Smiler themselves, because I don’t think I’ve ever shown you their main formal outfit. Yes, full tux and tails just because that one had the yellow. XD And white and gold shoes, because who wants to match their shoes to their pants? :P
So yes, that is the Smiler Look Book for the day. XD Hope you enjoyed! Happy Creation Day, buddy!
#smiler always#smiler alton#the smiler#sims 4#fashion#sim fashion anyway#I had a lot of fun with these outfits#Smiler is a great Sim to dress#because you can go with what feels fun#and not necessarily worry about matching or anything like I said#though I will say that this really highlights that Sims 4 does NOT have a lot of striped clothes#and given black and white stripes pop up a LOT around The Smiler coaster#I'm gonna have to go looking#and yes that moment when I realized Smiler's yellow eyes were gone post-curing was a very#'wtf happened to you' moment#I know that they need to have a 'natural' eye color for human Smilers#but they just don't look RIGHT without the yellow now XD#curse you my inability to accept change in how my characters look XD#queued

VITD Sims Lookbook: Smiler
Hello all! As promised at the end of my last Chill Valicer Save update, this week I'm showing off some "Valicer In The Dark"-inspired looks for my OT3 that I made at the end of last year (on Christmas, in fact -- I was in the mood to play with CAS that day). Let's dive right into it with our favorite Slide/Leech (Sleech, if you will) Smiler, shall we?
Starting with another variant on what I consider to be their "standard" VITD outfit (as seen in previous posts like this one), this one without the hat and with belted pants instead of just button-up ones. I think I prefer Smiler having the belt to not having the belt, but *shrug* Well see what happens going forward. That yellow waistcoat and the yellow shoes are always a must, though -- thank you High School Years!
For bedtime, we have some very Smiler pajamas -- and while bunny slippers probably DON'T fit the "vaguely Victorian" aesthetic of Blades In The Dark, I had to give them to them anyway, because come on. XD Though maybe I should give them a different color of bunny -- do they come in black? I'll have to check at some point in the future.
For those parties that require at least a semi-formal look, we have this outfit! Looking at it now, I'm thinking that it may be a little too dark -- the shoes and pants together in particular look a bit too plain -- but I like that purple waistcoat on them. Nice alternative look to the yellow one!
And if you need to go full "visiting Brightstone" formal, here's Smiler in a full Victorian day suit! Specifically, they're showing off one of the outfits from the Men's Day Suit Collection by @simmerofthedawn! (Plus one of the recolored top hats they did with their first collection of men's suits.) I really appreciate that SimmerOfTheDawn made sure to include a healthy number of swatches with all these outfits -- including a few good yellow options, as you can see here. Yeah, the shade's a little darker than I'd normally like for Smiler, and I kinda wish the jacket was black instead of dark gray, but hey -- it still really works for a Smiler-about-town!
By contrast, here's Smiler's extremely casual athletic outfit, for those times when they're planning on doing something that they know is going to make them pretty sweaty. It's just something to throw on, then throw in the washtub afterward! Again, wish I could have found a proper yellow swatch for the shirt, but you can't have everything. And if this is meant as a "don't care about my appearance" outfit, it doesn't really matter anyway. :p
And finally, a Smiler for those chilly days in Duskwall (which -- is most of them, because NO SUN), wrapped up in a nice thick sweater. :) Really like the bit of yellow striping -- Smiler doesn't get enough stripes to play with in their outfits! Mostly because they're almost always the wrong colors. *sigh* We need more good yellows and good yellow stripes in this game! My roller coaster Sim demands it!
#sims 4#cas looks#fashion#smiler alton#valicer in the dark au#yeah Smiler can be a bit hard to dress sometimes#because their core colors are yellow white black and purple#and it can be hard to find good yellow swatches in particular#especially ones that aren't paired with another less-good color#like I think there's another yellow vest in the game that would be great if it wasn't matched with a blue shirt#ah well at least I have that one perfect yellow waistcoat#and CC to help fill in some of the gaps#finding Simmer of the Dawn's men's suits was great :D#love me a good Victorian look#...even if I think the waistcoat in that one outfit could stand to be delineated from the pants a BIT more#but again I will take it#Smiler looks good and that's what matters :)#queued

Sims 4 Valicer Outfit Fun II -- CC Edition
We interrupt your regularly-scheduled Chill Valicer Save updates with another "watch me play dress-up with my OT3 in Sims 4" post, courtesy of me downloading a bunch of custom content outfits a few weeks ago and having period brain this past weekend. :p Sometimes you gotta keep it simple, you know? Anyway, here's some new outfits for Smiler, Victor, and Alice, all with a lovely CC bent --
First up, Smiler in an outfit from @the-crypt-o-club's 2022 Simblrween offering, Angsty Adolescence! The half-plain-black, half-black-and-yellow-checked pants were a MUST -- they remind me a bit of what Agent Joytide was wearing during the Smiler Takeover! The alternating yellow-and-black plastic bracelets also felt very appropriate to The Smiler's general theme, and of course I had to give them the yellow sneakers with the happy face and rainbow doodles and the cute Freezer Bunny t-shirt in yellow. XD I think Smiler's also sporting some custom eye make-up, though I don't know if that's from this particular pack or one of The Crypt-O-Club's other Simblrween offerings. Looks good, though -- great for a party outfit!
Next up, let's have a Victorian Smiler, courtesy of @simmerofthedawn and their Men's Day Wear set from Part One of their Victorian Collection! This is a great set of men's suits, in both darker colors for Autumn/Winter and lighter palettes for Spring/Summer, so you'll always have a suit appropriate to the season! Plus they made a copy of the Vampires top hat and gave it SO many more swatches -- "33 shades" as per their own post! Seriously, the set is worth downloading just for THAT ALONE in my opinion. I naturally had to put Smiler in the swatch that contained the most yellow, and that proved to be this particular outfit -- even if the colors are a tad more muted than I'd like. Still, they look snazzy, and it is SO NICE to have a top hat that matches their outfit perfectly! :D
We now move onto Victor's section, featuring him in his Crypt-O-Club outfit -- or, at least, one of their Freezer Bunny shirts from the Angsty Adolescence collection, in a kicky blue. I'm not 100% sure on the shorts and shoes, though I would GUESS they're also CC, as that's what I was mainly working with during this "playing dress-up in CAS" section. *shrug* Either way, he looks pretty nice -- I think this would be a good "workout" look for him!
Back to Simmer Of The Dawn's Men's Day Wear for this picture, with Victor showing off one of the darker swatches for his outfit. In fact, I chose this particular outfit because it's actually as close to a "canon" Victor outfit as I'll probably ever get! The top half isn't quite right -- wrong type of necktie, waistcoat fastens too low down, coat tails are too long -- but it's still good, and the pants are REALLY good. Maybe a BIT dark, but still REALLY close to Victor's canon trousers. I approve. :D
And while we're on the "Victor in actual Victorian clothes" train, here's Victor sporting a suit from Simmer Of The Dawn's Victorian Collection Part Four -- the Men's Day Suit collection! These also come in darker tones for Autumn/Winter and lighter ones for Spring/Summer, and feature higher waistcoats, slightly different tails on the coats, and bow ties. Victor's in a Spring/Summer light blue ensemble because I thought it looked nice on him and fit his usual color scheme, paired with a pretty gray top hat. Perfect for a promenade around town!
The top hat from Simmer Of the Dawn remains, but we move onto a different creator for this outfit (minus the gloves and shoes) -- Historical Sims Life on blogspot, with their Boldness Beckons outfit converted from Sims 3! This is a nice, more wintery look for Victor, bundled up with a thick neck scarf against the cold. :) He looks very smart indeed!
And finally, we end on a couple of Alice outfits, starting again with Crypt-O-Club's stuff! Alice here is sporting a dress from I believe the DIY Or Die fan pack -- what can I say, it looked really good on her! The shoes are another swatch of the Angsty Adolescence Converse (seriously, I love those, with all the fun doodles all over them -- you can customize them for any personality), while the stockings should ALSO be Angsty Adolescence, but might be from another pack -- I've downloaded ALL their "fan made stuff packs" at this point, so. . . XD Still, it's a great "punk princess" look for her I feel!
And as for the Victorian look, I found this by @vintagesimstress -- the 1890s Working Girl Mini-Set! A couple of blouses and a trio of skirts based off what working-class ladies wore in the 1890s, as indicated -- Alice is wearing the shortest of the three skirt lengths because I like being able to see her feet. XD The set also comes with an apron overlay that you can put on as an "accessory" (under the "tights/stocking" option), but I forgot to put that on ^^;. Still, it's nice to see Alice in a classic Victorian blouse and skirt! Even if it's a bit weird to see her in anything that long. XD
And there we have it! I hope you enjoyed this CAS post -- NEXT week, back to the Chill Valicer Save and the store!
#sims 4#looks#fashion#smiler alton#smiler always#victor van dort#alice liddell#custom content#yeah I went on a bit of a downloading spree in August and grabbed a bunch of Victorian men's clothes#and the crypt-o-club stuff as mentioned#what can I say I wanted to give my Sims new looks XD#(plus I was working on Sim versions of my OTHER coaster OCs for the other Alton Towers rides#and the Crypt-O-Club stuff in particular seemed well-suited for them#once I've got my designs a bit more finalized I'll show those off!)#really pleased with the Victorian suits#it's hard to find good clothes for male Sims sometimes!#but these come in a bunch of nice swatches :D#and seriously if nothing else get the top hat recolors#you will thank me for having more top hat options for your fancy Sims#queued

-->And then, after an initial attempt to sit at one of the tables inside prompted a stranger to immediately join them, Alice and Victor promptly fled to the couch to do some flirting and smooching and deep conversations without being interrupted. Smiler hung out with them for a bit, then entertained themselves by browsing the various racks of clothes and getting to know some of the other thrifters -- like Dominic Fyres, who was dressed up like a sea captain for some reason. (Dude likes purple, though -- I approve.) It seemed like everything was going reasonably well, though (with me thinking that maybe Smiler could get a drink from new friend Dominic instead). . .
-->And then the game informed me that a fashion show was starting up in ThrifTea, and -- THAT NPC showed up. I know you can see her, in her captain’s hat and bikini top and flowered pants. Normally I’m a huge fan of ridiculous townie fashion, but -- damn. There are things even I consider a bit much. And not only did these badly-dressed townies prove a major distraction for Victor, Alice, and Smiler (none of whom were particularly impressed by that starting outfit, that’s for sure), they also attracted loads of OTHER townies to the location. Meaning the store got VERY crowded VERY quickly. Not exactly a great date atmosphere, especially when one of your couple is a loner who dislikes large crowds! And I’m not sure Victor magically fixing the toilet after Alice broke it helped, given the startled reaction from some of the crowd. . .
-->Nevertheless, Victor and Alice continued to make the best of things. Including exchanging flowers! An important tradition on Love Day, to be sure. Victor presented Alice with a fresh-grown tulip, which she actually appreciated (giving flowers CAN be very hit-or-miss), and she reciprocated with a rose and a message saying that Victor was her “everything,” aww. Sims 4 may be lacking in a few areas, but I think it definitely knows how to do romance. (With the occasional bit of help from a mod.)
#sims 4#the lazy save#victor van dort#alice liddell#smiler always#yeah I'm not entirely sure this was the best location for a date in the end#townies sporting terrible clothing and sea captain hats for no reason#lots of people swarming the bubble tea counter#Alice using the toilet and it immediately breaking#forcing Victor to Repairio it and possibly getting a bit of side-eye from any spellcaster-disliking locals#and Smiler never did get a drink from Dominic either#I should have had them hang out with Victor and Alice more#test the limits of them sharing the date UI#meeeh#at least the flower exchange was super cute :)#Valice for the win#queued
