Smart Forward: Samsung’s Latest Family Hub Upgrade
Samsung Smart Forward Updates To Improve Home Appliance Safety, Future-Proofing, and Functionality
Multiple new features to improve and modernize experiences for more consumers will be made possible via over-the-network updates for home appliances.
Today, Samsung Electronics revealed the new capabilities that will be available to a limited number of devices via Smart Forward, Samsung’s over-the-network upgrades for home appliances, with a rollout planned for the second half of this year. Appliances, with a rollout planned for the second half of this year.
These Smart Forward updates are the most recent development in Samsung’s effort to provide more customers with the best possible experiences. They are intended to revitalize current appliances by adding new features, future-proofing them, and improving safety and energy efficiency.
Miyoung Yoo, EVP and Head of the Software Development Team, Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, “As a are thrilled to be rolling out more Smart Forward updates to our earlier released appliances around the globe, after years of R&D with a relentless focus on the home user experience.” “The home experience can genuinely advance with the increased functionality, longer lifespan, and enhanced security offered by Smart Forward.”
Family Hub
Experiences in the Kitchen Are Modified by New Features
Many new features are included in the Smart Forward updates, all aimed at improving appliance performance and user experience. The new features that greatly enhance connectivity and usability of the Family Hub, a touch screen panel fitted on the 4-Door French Door Refrigerator4 for food management, entertainment, and communication, are Fridge Call, Buds Auto Switch5, and Quick Share.
With just a few clicks, users can instantly transmit photographs from their mobile device to the Family Hub screen, making it easier than ever to share memories and recipes while in the kitchen. Buds Auto Switch lets users seamlessly switch to their mobile device to answer incoming calls and back again when the call is over, making it possible to cook uninterrupted using Galaxy Buds with the Family Hub to listen to music or view cooking tutorials.
Lastly, Fridge Call enables customers to accept phone calls directly on the Family Hub using its speaker and microphone, doing away with the need to search for their phone in a separate room. It is particularly handy to multitask while staying connected while users’ hands are occupied with cooking, cleaning, or dishwashing. The best part is that these new capabilities won’t be limited to new models; they will also be accessible on refrigerator models with Family Hub manufactured starting in 2017.
Samsung family hub refrigerator review
All refrigerators manufactured after 2023 will have Quick Remote8, an extra function that lets a user’s phone operate linked Samsung appliances like a remote control, regardless of whether the refrigerator has a Family Hub screen or not. Air conditioners and washing machines, which have been manufactured since 2023, are other related appliances.
To access the remote control menu for an appliance, users only need to move their phone’s screen close to the Smart Forward connected appliance. This will cause the menu to appear on the quick panel of the Galaxy phone. Users may easily adjust their home environment thanks to this seamless connectivity.
Taking Home Appliances’ Future-Proofing to the Next Level
Samsung is concentrating on future-proofing current appliances in addition to improving the user experience. The updated Bixby can recognize commands with various intents and recall the last chat. Voice commands become more natural and immediate because to its cutting-edge AI capability, which completely changes how consumers interact with their appliances.
First, Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub; Bespoke AI Laundry Combo; Bespoke Slide-in Range; Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI; and Bespoke AI WindFree Gallery Freestanding Air Conditioner are the five products for which Samsung is offering updates in 2024.
Furthermore, Bixby can now verbally request the opening of 2024 refrigerator doors with Family Hub, doing away with the need for wake-up prompts like “Hello Bixby.” All they have to do is say, “Open the refrigerator door.” Users can operate hands-free with an unmatched level of convenience thanks to this feature. Additionally, starting in 2022, owners of Family Hub refrigerators sold in Korea and the United States will have the ability to customize the wallpaper on the fridge’s screen, giving their kitchen a unique touch.
Reduced Energy Use and Safer Operation
Because the value of safety never goes down, Samsung is updating older models, including refrigerators manufactured as far back as 2021, with new features that improve both energy efficiency and safety. Refrigerators will detect when interior temperature is high following a power outage and will alert users via the SmartThings app when power is restored. This feature adds an extra degree of food safety by alerting users to potential problems that could compromise the freshness of their stored food.
Furthermore, consumers now have more control over their appliance settings by selecting different chimes for open door notifications. Additionally, customers may keep their homes tranquil by setting their ice makers to sleep mode, which stops them from running at night and produces the unsettling sound of ice falling into the tray as people sleep.
The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo and Samsung Dishwashers will also offer Optimal Scheduling, which postpones the start of appliances to prevent them from operating during hours of high energy consumption or high carbon intensity. Users may reduce their energy costs by utilizing this function. To further aid in intelligent energy conservation, the 7-inch AI Home on the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo now automatically transitions to power-save mode during wash cycles.
These improvements support Samsung’s goal of adding value to customers’ purchases. Samsung keeps its appliances up-to-date by improving their operation and performance. This strategy helps the company’s efforts to reduce replacements and protect consumers’ investments.
Attendees can see and utilize all of Samsung’s new home appliances at IFA 2024 in Berlin, Germany, from September 6 to 10.
