~Bachelorette party

Isabella and the girls decided on Hawaii for the Bachelorette party (yay)

Viviana leaving Josie with Luca and Leaf much to Dantes discontentment...he wanted to take her (both) with him :(

Dominic (reluctantly) letting Alessandra go with the girls during her pregnancy

(after reassuring him a thousand times + Isabella swearing on her life to not go feral on the trip)

Isabella threatening telling Sloane that she will throw her phone off the jet if she checked it one more time

Them actually having a well deserved rest and enjoying their time in hawai

Going to beaches , sunbathing, binge watching cheesy Hawaiian romcoms (Sloane insisted) , renting yachts (and a cruise later as Isabella insisted)

Playing drinking games ( Alè drank mocktails) dirty games (ifykyk) male strippers (this idea was shot down before it could leave the owners mouth)

and ofc reviewing isabella's ever famous dildos and other weird sex toys that only she could have.

All in all isabella's Bachelorette was a weirdly successfully therapeutic vacation for the girls

But..they also have wives/girlfriend/fiance

That means if Isabella and friends are having a bachelorette party

then Kai and friends (?) will also have to have a bachelorette party

Kai very depressingly enthusiastically decided on London for the Bachelorette party.....yay...so.. innovative...

So now here they are sitting in one of the most luxurious penthouse in London doing..... nothing... :D

Dante on a 4 hour video call with Josephine seeing her draw... something that is so out of the box ! that he had to brainstorm for 2 hours on what exactly was it that his daughter was drawing with green and red!!

(he also tried calling Vivian but she had to also follow the "don't take calls from husband for one goddamn week" rule)

Kai trying to translate that one book that Isabella said he couldn't translate in Latin ever. ( It was Kamasutra ರ⁠_⁠ರ )

And finally Xavier (who was forced into this trip because Sloane thought that he needed to hang around "decent" people once in a while )

This is Book 4 of the "Kings of Sin" series (of 7)

I have read all of Ana Huang’s books minus her first series. I’ve read all of the “Twisted” books and all of the “Kings of Sin” books that have been published so far. Some books I’ve liked, some books I’ve loved and only one book was not doing it enough for me. So I can say that in terms of contemporary-leaning-towards-dark romance, Ana Huang is my favorite writer along with Sophie Lark. So I can say with all certainty that “King of Sloth” is her best book in terms of romantic content. This is her sweetest most romantic book and it is also a slow burn. Actually this is the first slow burn I read from her.

It is not an enemies to lovers, there is no hate, no bad feelings, no negativity whatsoever between Sloan and Xavier. I would even say that they have a very healthy relationship from the beginning even if they are not yet friends. This might be a case of nanny and charge, but the both of them are adults in different life situations. Both come from money but while one of them gave up her family money and became a self-made woman working as a high profile PR agent, the other one is the reluctant heir of a Colombian billionaire. Sloane was hired to basically do damage control on Xavier’s irresponsibilities and scandals, but at some point they find out that they have so much in common and they understand each other so well, that they become a team of sorts. And from there their love builds up, even if for Xavier’s part, it has always been there, the love.

Both of them have difficult family backgrounds but none of them are actually problematic or especially spoiled. Quite the contrary, they fight against everything that money and class represent in their past lives and that’s a very powerful common ground when Xavier is presented with a challenge and Sloane is there to fight with him.

Honestly I don’t know how many quotes, paragraphs, and words I have underlined, how many times I have screamed in excitement with these two and how many comments I’ve added to the text. I am really impressed and I’ve been commenting it with my good friend and fangirl Maria with whom I’ve read several of Ana Huang’s books “King of Sloth” had us texting from classes, work, cafés, bedtime��� I even texted her when I was supposed to be studying for a final exam! And all because if this book isn’t perfect is because perfection doesn’t exist.

Thoughts on King of Sloth:

If you're someone who has read Ana Huang books before, you don't need to pay a whole lot of attention to the plot since it's almost exactly the same in every book.

Sloth is no different. You have your rich guy (Xavier), your ambitious girl (Sloane), the Initial Hatred, The Agreement to get along for mutual benefit and eventual falling for each other by opening up about their respective shitty family trauma, and finally The Big, Bad Fight :(

The characters, however, stand out and are unique and interesting. They're humane and relatable, and even charming. It's clear that these books are focusing more on characters rather than just the steam and romance which is a breath of fresh air in the genre tbh.

However, stories start to feel a bit stale when you kow exactly what's going to happen. Hoping to get a new plotline for the next book in the series: King of Envy.

Overall, Sloth was definitely an improvement from Greed. Not a bad read for a night in (took me 6 hours) and delivers on the trope it promised.
