I miss the Cinnamoroll collab mainly for the wax event (think geyser/grandma) it had. For those not in the know, during the event the Tiptoeing Teabrewer would sit by their oven as cinnamon rolls popped out, which players could burn for wax/light.

Me missing this event isn't 100% to do with wanting more wax sources, though it certainly is a part of it. Rather, it has to do with timing.

For context, events like geyser/grandma/sunset take place on even hours in my timezone (at 2:00, at 4:00, etc). When it was still around, the cinnamon roll event would take place on odd hours (at 1:00, at 3:00, etc, in my time zone) -- its possible they occurred more frequently but I don't really remember. I'm the kind of player who pops into Sky whenever they feel like it, so half the time I'm either in time or late for geyser/grandma/all even-houred events. Having the cinnamon roll event around was nice because it gave me something to do during the odd hours, while the other wax events are over. Nowadays though, if I've already done my dailies and I see that its an odd hour, I usually log out right then and there. This is opposed to if it was an even hour, where if I could make it, I would do geyser/grandma.

The point I'm trying to make is that at the moment, there are optimal times to play Sky, which is detrimental for those with schedules that can't be online for those hours.

For the cafe in particular, I can kinda see why they removed the wax event. Keeping it would make it so players only really appear at XYZ time, somewhat acting against its purpose as a social space. So, replacing the event with a reward the player can pick up at any time of the day makes it so there's an average amount of activity at all times.

That aside though, still would be nice to have another wax event(s) that takes place in the empty hours between geyser/grandma/sunset. If there were concerns about players getting too much wax with the addition of another wax event, each of the events can just share a wax cap -- much like the other wax events already have. Maybe there could be issues with players feeling like they need to get to every wax event, however I find that feeling already exists with the wax events we have. This could be especially so now because there are optimal hours where these events occur.

IDK. It's 2 AM right now (though I'll probably schedule this to be posted at a more sensible time) and maybe my sleepiness is rendering me too short-sighted to see the full consequences of this suggestion.

very out of context stuff for an au i have for wxs (ruikasa/emunene centric), i need to draw them being nice to each other but for now have nene bullying a bit rui cus hes being very dumb about his decisions, i will explain stuff from the au under the cut jdshkfhsfls

ok so the provisonal name for the au is cronos and the poet, the whole deal is that rui is a mortal turned into a god, the god of time so uh yeah inmortal boy, nene is the same as well but shes more responsible about the job and just keeping stuff running smoothly. then some stuff happens and rui ends up falling in love with a mortal who sees time as a gentle thing and not as an undestructible thing, a poet, its tsukasa lol, and then he also meets more ahead her friend emu, whos a baker so yeah stuff happens

for now i have a card edit of rui and kasa i need to do emu and nene, but nene's card is "A Childhood Friend's Gaze" (curtain call) and emus is "feat. Cinnamoroll" (sanrio event)

Tsukasa turns around in surprise, he didn't thought someone would be around, let alone seeing him write

"AH! I'm so sorry! you scared me" he rushed out "Wait- did you see my poem?" the blond asks with an embarrassed tone covering with his hand the text in progress.

"Oh- Yeah i apologize... I was just curious when i saw you here" Rui apologized and adjusted his gloves "But my question still stands....how can you talk about the passage of time in such a caring way?" he continues with a solemn look on his eyes seeing the poet.

"Well!" the poet starts puffing up his chest proudly "I think the passing of time is such a beautiful thing, it brings peace to most and i just-" Tsukasa stops for a second and looks up at the sky "I wanted to thank the universe for this gift in any way i could" he finishes turning to look at Rui again.

"I'm......glad you think that of time.." Rui looks at Tsukasa's eyes looking for any hint of sarcasm but, there was none on sight.

Maybe this wasn't an awful fate after all...

Introductions

Hello all! I'm Sam, pronouns are she/they. This is a strictly Sky-related blog where you'll find my personal thoughts, pictures, and occasionally art. I also reblog other Sky lore content that I find interesting 🎉

Now here's entirely too much info about me:

Season of Nesting moth, born during the Cinnamoroll collaboration event

I enjoy photography with a focus on Sky's ecology, history, architecture, and machinery. For fun, I also like to take pretty scenery shots, pictures of friends, and do themed photoshoots

Hobbies include hanging out at the café (I really miss the hourly cinnamon rolls u^u), taking pictures, decorating my nest, studying history, theorizing about lore, exploring new areas, exploring old areas with a new perspective, and playing dress-up.

I also have some OCs cooking up in my mind, but I feel the need to wait until after Sky: The Two Embers to really set up their backstories. I'd like to keep things as close to lore-accurate as possible.

The 6-Detail Recipe to Crafting Characters

One of my interests that I don't discuss much here on my writeblr is that I am a Sanrio girlie. I love Hello Kitty and all of her friends and torment beloved family and dear friends with the lore on a semi-frequent basis.

I had recently been discussing with a dear friend the lore of Kuromi in particular, when she noticed something interesting. Kuromi has a lot of mundane details mixed in with some of the more. . . insane ones.

The other Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, and Chococat also have flavors of this going on.

Which led us to a realization--here was a recipe on how to craft a compelling character, especially one with "main character" energy.

Main characters are often the most difficult to craft, mainly because you need to keep them likable enough for your reader to follow them while making them interesting enough to be a compelling player in events and as a lens through which to see the story.

The six-detail recipe is simple--come up with three details that are mundane about the character, 2 that are more fundamental to what the character wants/who they are and then a third that is completely insane or out-of-pocket and plot-related.

We'll give an example with the MC of my upcoming project, House of Apocalypse, starting with her three mundane facts:

Solene likes to bake and will in fact stress-bake when life is coming at her a little too quickly

She collects vintage teddy bears

Solene drives a red VW Bug convertible with flower stickers on it (or its equivalent in this fantasy world)

Now let's move on to her two "want" facts:

Solene wants to be a Healer like her mother and like her father wanted to be before a traumatic incident in his childhood

Solene prefers to do things by herself and is very independent

Then her sixth plot-related insanity fact:

Solene believes her mom murdered her dad and is evading justice through being a highly-ranked witch in society with the help of her mom and her dad's mutual best friend

When we put it together, we get a well-rounded character with solid motivations and some little fun facts that are thrown together to create a compelling lead.

We can do this again with Elodie Fleetwood from my high fantasy pirate novel, To Sail on Seas of Sky:

Elodie's favorite song to dance to is known as "The Pine Waltz"

She enjoyed attending magi-run carnivals as a child and loves to look at marvels of magic

Her favorite stories her mother would tell when she was a child were about Selkies

Elodie would like to live a comfortable upper-class lifestyle and be able to throw large parties and be valued in society

However Elodie is also interested in marrying for love and wants to be swept off her feet

Elodie is a talented and well-trained swordswoman in a variety of fencing styles

The Cinnamoroll event has brought not only a flurry of excitement and joy to our adventures in Sky but also a plethora of delightful random moments that keep us on our toes! Here are a few highlights from the event:

The unforgettable moment when we helped Cinnamoroll open the first cafe in Aviary Village. We felt like true cafe entrepreneurs!

The thrill of completing daily quests together, encountering both unexpected challenges and pleasant surprises along the way.

Spontaneous dance parties and playful interactions between Sky children, celebrating the magic of this collaboration.

These random moments have added an extra sprinkle of delight to our journey through the enchanting world of Sky: Children of the Light. Cheers to Cinnamoroll and the unique experiences we've shared during this event!

Due to recent events, I no longer have an excuse to hold off on reading/catching up (coughGirlintheBirdcagecough). I can't remember where I stopped in other mangas and webtoons, though, so that's something to figure out when I get there.

I hope the Tip Toeing Tea Brewer (or really any other baking spirit) becomes a permanent fixture of the cafe even after the Cinnamoroll event ends. With the Season of Nesting introducing new furniture items even after the season (at least from what I've read), I know sky kids would like the extra assistance with their candle counts.
