somehow, spending time with an international pop star wasn’t that weird. or, at least it wasn’t weird so far. she hadn’t really known what to expect when they’d agreed to hang out, but she didn’t think bowling would be on the list of things they’d find themselves doing. though, to be fair it was mostly because she wasn’t thrilled about having to trade her heels for bowling shoes. “so, I’ve never bowled before.” daphne admits, grabbing one of the fries from his plate and popping it into her mouth quickly. “so i know you’re winning right now but you should know it’s not because you’re good, but because you have an unfair advantage.” @ssparkypants

it’s rare that daphne ever finds herself on her own. for as long as she can remember she’s always had company; a group of girls obsessed with her new shoes that wanted to trade fashion tips, a group of boys posturing for a chance, or her trusted group of best friends reminding her of who she really was. she was never alone. so, it’s a little shocking that she spends a large bulk of the winter festival without the rest of the mystery inc. gang. but as they already had plans to meet up and film an episode of a ghost hunting show it was only fitting that they run off and do their own things before hand. she’s busy texting the mystery inc. group chat when the boy in front of her turns around, and immediately she’s all smiles and bright energy. “there’s very few things that are much fun alone,” daphne giggles, slipping her phone into the pocket of her purple coat before nodding in agreement. “i’d love to join you though. i’m daphne.” she holds out her gloved hand, waiting for a handshake. it should be noted that she hardly needs him to introduce himself, someone as in the know in regards to pop culture as she is was aware of who skip sparkypants was. but there was no need to make the situation awkward by sharing that with him.

He’s not entirely sure how he ended up in the lineup for carriage rides by himself, Vidia suddenly coming up with something better to do rather than join him. Considering her hot and cold nature he’s not all that surprised by the turn of events, and as he inches closer and closer to the front of the line, he starts to wonder whether he should do this by himself or just bail. He has his hamster to keep him company, but something about a carriage ride with Corny just seems a little pathetic, somehow. “Hey, do you wanna join me?” he asks with a smile, turning to the girl behind her. She has to be one of the most beautiful girls he’s ever seen, so much so that he finds himself taken aback for a second, and he can’t possibly imagine how she ended up here by herself. || Get to know SEBASTIAN “SKIP SPARKYPANTS” SEGURA who’s TWENTY-TWO years old and works as a POPSTAR in town. He is from NEW JERSEY and is often times mistaken for DIEGO TINOCO while others say he reminds them of SKIP SPARKYPANTS from THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS. ||

Skip has been an attention seeker for as long as he can remember. Being the middle of five children, he was always the forgotten child and he felt like he had to work really hard to be noticed. He was always the king of running into the room shouting “hey mom, look at this!” and showing her a flip or a new dance moved he learned. And she always came back with a half-hearted “that’s nice sweetie”, only half watching and never giving the enthusiasm that Skip was looking for. It only pushed him to be louder and more obnoxious in his quest for getting attention.

He was always the kid in class that was getting in trouble for causing a disruption. You know the one I’m talking about. Since he wasn’t getting the attention he wanted at home, he decided he would get it from his classmates instead. He started out by making little jokes in class, usually at the teacher’s expense, that would make whoever was sitting next to him laugh. Then he started escalating it to physical comedy, one time disrupting the class for a whole twenty minutes because he thought it would be funny to stick his head through the hole in the back of the classroom chair and it got stuck. Even if people were laughing at him, he was getting attention the attention he wanted and he was starting to get addicted to it.

The first time he ever got attention from his peers where people were cheering him along rather than laughing at him was when he performed at the ninth grade talent show. He got up on stage and performed Shiny Teeth and Me, and the crowed absolutely loved it. Everyone was screaming and clapping, asking him to perform another song, and afterwards lots of people came up to him telling him how great he was. That’s how he got the idea to start his YouTube channel.

His YouTube channel was slow going at first, uploading a Chip Skylark cover every month or so and getting a couple thousand views. He was happy with even that, thinking that he was really doing something here. But over time his number of followers started to grow until he was uploading a cover at least once a week to appease the hundreds of thousands of people that were tuning in. And much to his surprise, almost all of the comments were good. People were loving him. For the first time ever, Skip was thinking he might try to make music his career and even had plans to apply to NYU for performing arts when he graduated high school. And then one day when he was eighteen, Chip tweeted out some fan covers, Skip’s cover of Icky Vicky among them, and his whole life changed.

Overnight, Skip’s video had over a million views and he could hardly believe what was happening. Chip Skylark noticing him would have been enough for him, because as much as he didn’t talk about it, Chip was his absolute idol. Watching a latino pop star get such commercial success meant everything to him, and Skip wanted nothing more than to be just like him. He even brushed his teeth religiously, just so if he ever met Chip the man would be impressed with his own shiny teeth. He was obsessed. And now here Chip is, being the absolute angel that he is and kickstarting Skip’s career, because only a week after Chip tweeted his cover, Skip got a call from a talent scout.

The talent scout made all sorts of big promises to Skip about how he was going to be the biggest international pop star in the world, even bigger than Chip, and he jumped at it without a second thought. He didn’t even consult his parents or take the time to thoroughly read the entire contract; he just withdrew his acceptance from NYU, signed the contract, and was ready to get into the studio. Skip was born to be a star, and finally other people were realizing it. Everything he wanted was coming true.

It wasn’t long before Skip learned that he probably should have read the fine print of his contract, because his record label practically owned him. Skip didn’t have any creative say in any of the music he was making, didn’t even have any say on the outfits he was wearing. Which is exactly how he became Skip Sparkypants. One day while he was in a fitting for his first show, a rep from the label came in with the ugliest pair of sparkly red pants that Skip had ever seen in his life. He was no stranger to wearing ridiculous clothes, doing it all the time when he was in high school to get attention from the girls he liked, but he had really thought this was going to be a time to reinvent himself. To go on stage looking cool. He tried to protest, told his manager that under no circumstances would he go on that stage looking like a disco ball, but he quickly learned that he had no say, that this was going to be his thing. It was his way of competing with Chip Skylark. Chip had his shiny teeth, and apparently Skip had his sparkly pants.

While he was originally deeply upset about his lack of creative control, as soon as Skip got his first taste of fame he didn’t care anymore. It turns out that his fans really loved the sparkly pants, so what was he protesting for? It wasn’t long before the fame was completely starting to get to Skip’s head. He’d never received this kind of attention before, never been loved and adored, and it turned him into kind of an asshole. He had high demands, got snappy and impatient with everyone that worked with him, and was just overall a dick. He even started getting so full of himself that he would request things like only red m&ms in his dressing room, because red m&ms were the best, just like him.

As soon as he started developing an attitude, his team put him through extensive media training to make sure he didn’t ruin his image. He was being billed as a sweet, caring, fun guy, a total heartthrob, and his team wasn’t willing to risk losing that image. And he got incredibly good at it. While he’s a dick behind closed doors, throwing around demands, and even somethings throwing tantrums like a petulant child, in front of his fans and the media, he’s the best. Girls want to be with him, guys want to be him, and both his music and his image are skyrocketing.

His rivalry with Chip started out slowly. The first time they met, Skip was so excited to meet his idol, the man that kickstarted his career, and it broke his heart to learn that Chip truthfully had absolutely no idea who he was. And Skip really got his feelings hurt about it. Rather than just waiting until Chip learned who he was, Skip started becoming a little bit of a dick to Chip every time they saw each other. Eventually Chip started being rude right back, and over the years it’s started to grow and take a life of it’s own. Now they absolutely loathe each other and everyone knows it.

It wasn’t that Skip wasn’t a famous pop star, because he was. He was still selling out his concerts, but his venues were just a bit smaller than the ones Chip was playing it. He was still doing numbers on the charts, but he kept charting lower than Chip. He was still chased down by mobs of fans that passed him on the street, but those mobs were just a bit smaller and screamed just a little quieter than the ones that chased after Chip. When he was first discovered, the scout promised that he would be an even bigger star than Chip, and Skip just can’t let that go. Too busy focusing on being better than Chip, he hardly takes the time to enjoy his own success.

The Incident, as he likes to call it, happened so quickly that he barely remembers it. After having one (or five) too many drinks at his place, he was on the way to the club with his friends when a fan stopped him to ask for a photo. He was so excited until she called him Chip, and then something in him snapped. Maybe it was the alcohol, or perhaps it was the years of boiling resentment for the other star, but Skip just exploded. How dare she confuse him for that shiny teethed little bitch? He started screaming it at the top of his lungs, ranting about everything that’s wrong with Chip Skylark. Don’t you know who I am? he remembers yelling, not paying any attention to the fact that everyone around them had started taking out their phones to film his meltdown. He only shut up when his friends physically dragged him away, and even then he went with a bit of kicking and screaming.

After an agonizing day curled up on his couch under a weighted blanket, watching the video being circulated all over Twitter and Instagram, Skip pulled out the old notes app to post an apology to his account. Saying that he made a mistake and didn’t mean what he said, and he was very sorry to any of his fans that he hurt. He was going to try to be better. Skip posted it with all the confidence in the world, sure that it would be enough to get his fans back on his side, but all the negative comments just kept coming. His fans were disappointed, wanting to know what happened to the fun loving Sparkypants the knew and love. Suddenly they were questioning him, they couldn’t trust him anymore, and Skip’s team knew they had to take some sort of action.

Skip originally had no real intentions of becoming a better person while he’s in Corona, even though that’s very much his team’s intentions. They want him to take a long, hard look at himself and work to improve, but he doesn’t want to do that. What he wants is a long vacation on a beautiful island, and the chance to fuck with Chip Skylark. Everyone has heard the rumours that he’s having a hard time finishing his album, and he thinks this is his opportunity to finally get the one up on him.

Though many fans seem to be under the impression that Skip’s real name is Skip Sparkypants, it definitely is not. His real name is Sebastian Segura, but Skip is a nickname given to him by his family from the time he was born, and it just kind of stuck. And Sparkypants… well, everyone’s seen the man’s pants.

While he’s gotten out of the habit of cooking ever since becoming famous, because he has a chef to do that for him now, he’s always been a really good cook. Growing up he was always expected to make dinner for the family at least once a week, and those skills aren’t something that just leave you, even if you don’t use them anymore. His favourite first date move is to invite his date over to cook enchiladas because he thinks it makes him look humble.

The man is loud. Just… so very loud. Even with international love and success, he’s never gotten over his need for attention and will do anything he can to make sure he gets it. Usually that involves telling stories or jokes loudly and obnoxiously so everyone can hear. If he’s in the same area as you, you’ll know it.

Deep down, when he really tries to access his emotions, Skip is incredibly insecure and just doesn’t think he’s good enough. It’s why he’s so loud and obnoxious all the time. He thinks that if he puts on a front and appears confident, everyone will believe him. So far it’s working pretty well.

He has a pet hamster named Cornelius that he absolutely adores. Thinks he’s the cutest little guy in the world. If he’s not posting pictures on Instagram of himself or promoting his music, it’s pictures of little Corny.

UNGODLY HOUR DELUXE EDITION

In advance of their upcoming world tour, The Muses release the Ungodly Hours Deluxe Edition album. Along with the album they released Sweet Melody as a single, dropping a music video to go along with the song as well.

Underneath the read more is a breakdown of all the songs added to the deluxe edition of the album - along with links to the song and explanations of which girls wrote it and why.

reggaeton lento. w. calliope muse, clio muse, chip skylark & skip sparkypants. // ten months into attempting to finish his new album, chip skylark finds himself in a precarious situation. a deadline fast approaching and not a single concrete idea to show his label. chip turns to the muses for help, hoping to sit in on one of their writing sessions in an effort to feel re-motivated about the work he does or at the very least pick up some tips on how to write a song. in the end, chip contributed very little to the writing process, following the girls lead on a large majority of it. skip joins for a few writing sessions as well, goths boys offering little more than translating English lyrics into Spanish for the girls and rearrangement.

attention w. calliope muse & clio muse // it’s rare for clio muse to ever have a moment where she sits down and evaluates her life and emotions. but it does happen on occasion. and writing attention was one of those times. it’s after one of the many fights with danny fenton that results in the two going a few days without talking to each other that clio gets a little bit wine drunk and writes the first draft of the song - unloading all of her feelings and reasonings for why she behaves the way she does around her current boyfriend. how she’d rather be in a rocky, mess of a relationship than be single. how so long as she’s getting any type of attention it’s better than him leaving and clio being left on her own. it’s not polished by any means but it’s a start. clio originally had no intentions of going further with it, but upon reading it over the next morning when she was more sober she realized that it wasn’t too bad of a song and went to calli to fix it up. it’s slightly embarrassing, being so open with her sister like that - and at first she almost doesn’t even want it on the album, but in the end her desire to have another writing credit on the deluxe edition wins out over the potential embarrassment of being so vulnerable in front of all their fans - and danny, who she bans from ever listening to the song if he can help it.

sweet melody. w. calliope muse & clio muse // six months - that’s how long clio muse was in a relationship with gaston legume - one of the longest she had ever been in at the time and one that she thought was going well. it was the first time she’d felt so sure in her feelings for someone else. he was older and got on her nerves almost all of the time, but he was handsome and charming - and really what more could she have asked for? well, loyalty to start with. for the last three months of their relationship gaston had been cheating left and right on clio, something she had seen warning signs of but every time she brought it up he denied them and lied until she dropped it, believing that she must just be overthinking things. until the day she caught him and realized that all those red flags over the past months had been real. though it’s been a year, clio’s still pissed off every time she so much as thinks about the man. and when she finds out her little sister’s best friend has also been cheated on by gaston, she can no longer sit back and do nothing. after helping the two destroy his car and writing a song with penny proud about it, clio goes home, grabs calli, and they write another song - sweet melody. it’s a song expressing the way she felt played and used - written in the best way either of them know how to describe it, musical metaphors.

forgive me. w. clio muse & penelope proud // act first and ask for forgiveness later. after the devastating blow of learning that she was being cheated on by gaston legume, an angry penny turned to her best friend teri and her sister clio, another victim of gaston's infidelity. rather than lament about broken hearts and lost love, the girls decided to put the power back in their own hands. they refused to let their self-worth plummet because of one man that was unworthy of their love and attention to begin with, taking their anger and turning it into action. baseball bats smashed the pristine finish of his red ferrari as laughter filled the still night air, empowerment and control washing over them with every blow to his prized possession. before the high could wear off, the girls sat down and penned out a message to gaston, their words crystal clear: forgive me for taking my power back and rediscovering my self-worth. forgive me for no longer letting you have the control. forgive me acts as an anthem for the fans, reminding them to take control; don't waste your time waiting for permission.

motive. w. calliope muse, melpomene muse & penelope proud // the muses utilize airy ethereal harmonies on the house influenced track in an effort to make a fun dance track out of subject matter that’s hardly meant to be light. in the early stages of knowing benny, mel finds herself struggling with the sane trust issues that have plagued all her relationships before, only now a thousand times worse. the decision to feature penny on the track is almost immediate. friendship with the sisters aside, the muses unanimously showed an interest in working with penny once she started posting new music on social media.

positions. w. calliope muse & melpomene muse. // promises never kept, that’s the story behind positions. as things with benny slowly started becoming more serious, mel found that she once again was shutting down and refusing to even entertain the idea of confronting her feelings. when benny confessed his own feelings mel reacted the way she always does — avoidance. after reflection and a lot of venting to layla and rex, mel turns to the one thing she’s always had, art. she takes special care in building the song from the ground up, spending more hours on compositing and production than she usually does (which is saying a lot because she often hides away in the studio for an entire day). mel’s thought process is that if she can’t tell Benny her feelings, she can present them to him in a song, and if that’s the case it has to be perfect. in the end, she panics and never shared the song with benny. ultimately deciding it’s much easier to not fall down the same old trap doors of love that she always does. but, there’s still truth to those lyrics even now; her love is infinite and there’s very little she wouldn’t do for Benny.

motivate. w. calliope muse & thalia muse. // motivate is very much inspired by thalia's low drama, party girl lifestyle. Its no secret thalia is very confident in her own skin and comfortable being single. She actually prefers it that way but, in this song she's inspired by her friends with benefits relationship with Adam Bete and how it makes her feel. The relationship between the two originally began after bonding over the loss of their fathers. made it clear they were only in it for a physical connection. One that makes her feel good.

rendezvous. w. thalia muse. // inspired by her past relationship with nick wilde, rendevous is about how neglectful he was in their relationship. Getting any kind of attention from him was hard. In this song thalia talks about how shes just trying to spend some time with him. A recent hook up brought everything back up which she channels into the song. Shes not trying to rekindle their paat relationship but just have some fun. He just needs to name the time and place.

when trixie was given the opportunity to be in a chip skylark video, she was over the moon. she had about as big of a crush on chip as the next girl and she was completely starstruck when she first met him, though she has not told him that. it wasn’t until the rumors of them dating started that she started to see him in a different light. not that she wouldn’t date him, she still totally would, but she also likes being his friend. someone who she can just talk to without feeling judged.

he is the only person she will cancel other plans for. chip is her rock in a lot of senses and the rest of her friends are hardly friends. so it’s super easy for trixie to put others aside for him.

she 100% runs a stan twitter and instagram for him. she posts his music on her snap stories and insta stories all the time and uses the influence she has to make sure EVERYONE loves chip’s music as much as she does. she also uses that stan twitter to drag skip sparkypants all the time.

they have code names for almost everyone they talk about. mostly to keep chips image clean and because trixie has a grand ol’ time coming up with them. trixie tries not to be malicious though, because she knows chip isnt a big fan of that side of her.

the stress of sharing so much of his day with skip was starting to wear chip down. he’d always been someone who surrounded himself with positivity, keeping the energy around him so bright and calming that the second hostility touches him he’s uncomfortable. and time with skip sparkypants, who’s bafflingly hated him for years, was nothing if not tense and hostile. the stress was starting to show on him, curls messy and eyes tired as he keeps his head down while he runs errands. it’s hard enough to hide from strangers, hair and smile a dead giveaway, so he’s not surprised when someone approaches him. what does catch him off guard is the who. “brit,” he blanks, voice dying in his throat as the shock of seeing her melts into a twisted mix of joy and pain. chip’s thrilled to see her, always is, and for a moment his lips twitch up into a small smile on instinct. but then her words fall on his ears, the tone of her voice devoid of any of the love he was so used to hearing her speak of him with. and suddenly, it was back to defeat. smile slipping from his face and features softening, joy deflating like a balloon that had been popped carelessly. “yeah, we can talk.” he nods, giving in anyway though he’s not necessarily sure what she means by her request. but that confusion isn’t necessarily new to him. ever since she’d broken up with him without so much as an explanation he’d been perplexed by the shift in their dynamic, and every time he asks for answers she simply avoids him. in fact, chip doesn’t think there’s ever been a time since their split that she willingly spoke to him. her being the one to reach out is enough to get his feet moving, leading her away from the people nearby. “what’s up?”

britney knew chip was on the island. she had only gone here to make him regret his life and she had been there long enough to hear dating rumors already. chip always made an impression no matter where he went and britney liked to think she knew that better than anyone. she had been gearing herself up to yell and throw a fit at him in-person and not behind a screen like she had been, but then she saw him, exiting a store, his hair messy and she just…couldn’t breath. memories of them dancing together, laughing, singing, and more flooded back to surface and it just didn’t seem to matter how many times she tried to keep her head up because she just ended up drowning in her past with him. she didn’t know why she still felt like this; it had been years since their break-up and according to her mother he was nothing but trash with a perfect smile. britney wanted to call her, but she knew she would just be berated for being so weak. she didn’t want to be weak, especially in front of chip. she had been working with his enemy to pour salt into his wounds, she was lashing out on socials, and she was cold to him at award shows; she was capable of keeping her mask on secure and tight but for some reason seeing him before he saw her just made her want to run.

but she was tired of running. she knew she had to say something someday and with all of the rumors going on about him and that muse girl….better now than never. so she walked up to him, sunglasses covering her eyes because if he looked into them he would see her regret, her fear. “chip skylark,” she said smoothly, her tone being hard to read but not downright rude. “it’s been a bit since we’ve spoke last. do you have a minute? i need to speak to you about something important.” and she didn’t want an audience for it in case she cracked. last thing she needed was her mother seeing this meltdown. “i think you owe me that much.”

Corona Island Recap 1/17

The New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball is over and here’s everything you need to know about what went down. 

Daphne Blake and Dipper Pines shared a kiss during the ball. They parted ways for a bit and Daphne began talking to Skip Sparkypants. Once Dipper returned, he found Daphne also kissing Skip.

Having been in a weird place for the past few weeks, a drunk Hans Isles approached his girlfriend Mel Muse. An argument was had and the two officially broke up.

Eric Capitan attended the ball with Ariel Triton, but towards the end of the night left with Thorn McKnight. Having realized that Eric was gone - Ariel sulked for a bit before getting high and letting out their feelings with Shaggy Rogers and Violet Parr.

Not at the ball, Valerie Gray ran into Danny Fenton in his ghost form with his ghost dog, Cujo. Valerie then started to hunt Danny down. Eventually, after Danny calls for help, Fred Fredrickson, Honey Lemon, and Gogo Tomago left the ball to go assist. Together they rode up in the Burrito Bros truck and joined in the fight until Valerie retreated.

Old flames Belle Joli and Ralph Wreck were seen talking and hanging out together for a while. Savannah “Sav” Wrides noticed and got pissed, confronting him in her angry and drunken state.

Mel Muse, Thalia Muse, and Meg Moralis distract the DJ and Riley Anderson takes over the music for the night. Omari “15 cent” Jackson also made an impromptu performance.

Claudette Bijou and Adam Bete drunkenly decided to get married with their witness being Hans Isles. They convinced a local court officiant to marry them and did follow through with the paperwork - leaving them officially and legally married.

During one time, he was riding to the Dimmsdale Dome to a live concert but as the car malfunctioned, he had no choice but ask for the phone at the home close by, which was Turner's house. Timmy was reluctant due to her dislike towards celebrities (because Britney stepped over the gift Timmy made for her at the red carpet week ago) and belief of all celebrities are arrogant with god-complex persona. So she kept her in her house, hoping the fans would be disappointed with his absence and stop loving him. However, she felt guilty when learning he is genuinely a goodhearted young man. To fix her mistake, she helped him escape the house where Vick was also there (Vick HATES celebrities with same prejudice he shared with Timmy). Due to the experience, both Timmy and Chip developed close friendship.

mel frowns as a look of pure terror touches phil’s face. she’s caught in dizzying dance of feeling sympathy for the boy and wanting to ask what exactly he was doing here if he hadn’t been prepared to do this much work. but being polite wins in the end, the way it always does. “sorry?” she apologizes with a small shrug. mel is well aware that she and her sisters put an insane amount of effort into the work they do, almost to the point of overdoing it. their father had always taught them the cost of excellence was high, and the need to be perfect keeps them all awake in their own ways. but surely chip skylark and skip sparkypants take their work this seriously as well? or were they simply coasting on good looks and the gullibility of a teenage fan base? now she’s not really sure what to think of either of them or their little boy band. “absolutely. i don’t mind helping you. once we break down the steps it’ll be completely easy.” she’s not sure if he’ll feel that way but she and her sisters always looked at it this way. “i’m almost scared to ask,” and she is genuinely afraid of the answer, but once dance rehearsals end he has to deal with clio at soundcheck. “are you a better singer than you are dancer?”
